10 Windows upgrade license related to the community right contradicts device?

Straight community AFAIR says that software (oem) cannot be bound to a device. That is why it is allowed to sell them (and reinstall) licenses oem in the EU as long as the software (windows) is enabled (installed) on a single device at the same time.

How does it plan to honor this law when they say that the free update of Windows 10 will be bound to the device AND the original license that it is improved to (win 7 or 8) gets invalidated by claiming that the 10 Windows Update Microsoft.

I think that the best thing for to do you is to download and read license end-user Windows 10 for your area and see if there are exceptions.

    Hello

charity, that I work has a laptop Acer Aspire bought new and running Windows 7 (purchase pre installed software). Recently, after several years of trouble-free operation, he began to display a message saying "Windows 7 Build 6701, this copy of Windows is not genuine" in the lower right of the office.

This PC was purchased new with pre-installed Windows.  I'm passed through the process validation windows and, when asked if you have downloaded and run the thing legitcheck... he stuck on a blank white dialog box titled "Genuine Microsoft Software" and does nothing else.

    any ideas?

  • Windows upgrade license question

I hope that this doesn't look like a stupid or ridiculous question.

My wife's office is an old, Vista originally had.  It never use it because it's slow; She would rather use her laptop with 8 on it.

I bought Windows 7 and installed on the desktop.  Still slow and it does not use it yet.  I am so get rid of it.

But I still have the win7 disk.  I also have another laptop, with Vista.  I would like to put a win10 on the laptop clip.  But we need win7 or 8.

Y at - it no problem with the installation of the drive on the laptop, then win7 (that WAS installed on the desktop) to upgrade to 10?

You can transfer the license of Windows 7 at the Vista laptop and upgraded to Windows 10.

Please note, the 10 current Windows preview does not require any existing version of Windows, you could install Windows 10 Technical Preview now on your current installation of Vista and the right to upgrade to the final version of the preview.

If you still want to improve the existing Vista install Windows 7, however, it's your choice. If you plan to activate, make sure that is no longer in use on the old office.

You can do it by formatting the machine then reactivate the installation on the laptop by phone:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

  • Windows 8 license after replacing the HARD drive

Original title: change of equipment (HARD drive)

Good night, I have a computer laptop windows 8 and I fear that the HARD drive (malfunction) he'll need replacement.

My question is, what will happen to my windows 8 license, once my current HARD drive stop working (because the key is encrypted in the bios)?
Please note that in the country where I live customer support is, at best, ineffective, so personal attention is not an option.
    Thank you before hand.
    Send you my best regards.

    Hi, Caesar,

Activation pairs your product key in your hardware configuration and helps to verify that your copy of Windows is not been used on more computers than to allow the 3668Microsoft Software License Terms.

If you change the hardware on your PC, you must contact support to activate Windows by phone.

As you have decided to replace the hard drive, you could face an activation/Windows not genuine error.  You can follow these steps to make a phone activation.

    a. press Windows key + X , then click run, then type: slui.exe 4

    b. press the ENTER key

    c. Select your country from the list.

    d. choose telephone activation .

    e. stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    f. explain your problem to the support person

  • How to kill 10 Windows upgrade? Please read the details before you answer!

Normally I just will try to contact Microsoft directly about this. I don't care if it takes 2 weeks to reply to an email that I GET a response. But EACH link that says "Contact us" brings me right back to the main page of Community Office helps, it seems there is no chance whatsoever to get feedback from a real person from Microsoft...

So here's my situation: I have two laptops. My only primary is more recent and therefore runs Windows 10. My portable secondary works in Windows 7. I want to KEEP my school laptop running Windows 7 for two reasons:

    1. My portable secondary is several years old. I do not if it is "technically compatible with Windows 10" because age alone means there will be some conflicts of hardware/software, if I were to upgrade the operating system. It's not worth updating this machine.
    2. Program compatibility. I have several programs use this work beautifully on Windows 7 but you are clumsy (if they even run at ALL) on Windows 10. Until such programs get the upgrades themselves, the ONLY way I can use them is on my Windows 7 laptop. So if I update the laptop more old I lose these programs.

For this reason, I want to get rid of the annoying pop up telling me that I "need to upgrade to Windows 10 now" every time I turn on my secondary laptop. I have it? I want this program went pop up! Finished! Exterminated! Eliminated! Try to remove the program files has failed, because apparently I need fancy Microsoft permission to remove them. (A fool can accidentally delete vital BONES files when you are prompted to do so by a troll, but I can not intentionally remove a useless update command prompt!) So there does anyone know how to get rid of this nuisance?

PS - If someone from Microsoft DOES happen to read this I have a suggestion for you: some people do not WANT your glorious new version of Windows has pushed down their throat then maybe consider to include an option to unsubscribe!

It is a sure and very effective tool to stop Windows 10 upgrade notice.

  • Windows 7 upgrade of Windows 8 (license issue)

I've updated from Windows 7 to Windows 8 using the upgrade package (download version). I would like to install the Windows 7 OS on another PC, that aloud?

Thank you both for your quick responses. The Windows 7 operating system is a commercial version. Yes, as far as I understand. If I had to re - install the Windows at some point, I need the operating system Windows 7 first, before I can upgrade to Windows 8.

Well, that depends, if you were to format the drive, Yes, you will need to reinstall Windows 7 first then repeat the upgrade to Windows 8.

You can reinstall Windows 8 using the following method if:

    · Press the Windows key + i on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

    · Click change PC settings

    · Click general in the left column

    · In virtue remove all and reinstall Windows, click Start

Then follow instructions that will be provided on the screen to reinstall Windows on your PC.

It would also mean I could install the upgrade of Windows 8 on another machine if I wanted to and then just leave the other PC with operating system Windows 7 above.

    That is right.

Reason being, is that my colleague does not fit on Windows 8 so maybe in the future I re - install Windows 7 on my PC of colleagues and use the upgrade of Windows 8 (hoping that I can not download this again since the MS Store) on my Lap Top that I would use.

As long as the license of Windows 7 is re-installed, you are free to transfer the Windows 8 upgrade elsewhere. You can always reinstall it by returning to the reception of your e-mail when you made your purchase or:

Go to the order summary page, you can find your product key:

    https://www.mswos.com/

You can download it from there and use your product key to upgrade:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only

Is also accepted, or is the upgrade license tied to the machine on which I originally upgraded Windows 8?

No, as long as the license of Windows 8 is removed from the machine, you can transfer it to another machine.

  • Download windows 7 Professional prepared have the product key

I brought laptopn, three months after warinty the thing is dead. have ity upward and in course of execution but slow and wrrors a lot. I have the sticker wibdows 7 with product / license key on it. I don't have a disk when I got the laptopn, which is a samsung R519. Can download a copy of windows 7 Professional, then use my key, where can download l?

If the laptop is preinstalled with Windows 7 Professional, it means that it is an OEM license. OEM licenses are not transferable, and they are related to the first computer they are installed.

If it is a license purchased in a retail store, it is transferable to another computer. Retail licenses include documentation, certificate of authentification and relocation of media, which you should have if you want to transfer to another computer. You don't seem to have these things, which make it impossible to transfer the license to another computer.

If this is a Windows 7 Professional upgrade license, you transfer the computer must already have a preinstalled Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 license.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

  • Reuse of Windows 7 license after free update of Windows 10?

    Hi all!

I was wondering if I'll be free to reuse my Windows 7 license key after the free upgrade to Windows 10 on July 29.

I've already reserved my copy, and yes I'm very happy. The only problem I see is because it is a version of Windows 7 OEM for Sony VAIO, so maybe it will not work if I use it in a new computer? If I can in any?

I hope that you guys understand my question and good day!

    Hello

Your Windows 7 OEM license has become an integral part of the upgrade to Windows 10 process.

If you cannot reinstall Windows 7 as a dual boot either in your Sony or move it to another computer.

OEM licenses that you cannot transfer anyway.

OEM licenses are tied to the first machine, on which they are installed and die when the machine that dies.

    See you soon.

  • How windows 8 licenses work?

I have 2 keys to windows 8. About a year a ago, I used one of them to install windows 8 on my computer. Recently, something happened and my copy of windows was not more active. I was getting the "your windows license is about to expire soon" message every 5 minutes in order to reactivate windows, I entered my key product again.  But since the last time I used my key was a year ago, I forgot which of the two I had used previously. in any case, I put in a key, but now, I think I used the key that I had not used it before. That means I have now two windows 8 keys related to the same computer and so I can not use a key to install windows on a new computer. Or at least that is what I think. That's how windows keys work? Is it possible for me to always use one of my keys to install another copy of windows on a separate computer?

    Hello wahhajMV,

I guess you use a license key of the retail (non - OEM) of Windows 8, and if this is the case, there should not be any problem. You have enabled your system with a new key, so your second product key is attached to this system right now.

Next time, when you try to install Windows 8 on another system by using your first product key, it will install properly, but you will be unable to get it activated normally over the internet, as the first product key was already used on another system earlier. You must then activate the product via phone activation key. To use telephone activation:

    • Press the Windows key + R
    • Type slui.exe 4 and press enter
    • Select your country
    • Call the number provided on the screen
    • Install ID provide the representative
    • Enter the Confirmation ID

Once you activate the first product key on your second computer, the product key will be attached to your second system and you won't need to go to the Activate by phone once again, unless you need to use the same product key on a different system.

  • BSOD after windows upgrade from Home Premium to Vista Ultimate

    Hello

I have a brand new A200 - TH1 comes with Vista Home Premium installed Edition. I had to install Vista Ultimate to get the job in Sql Server 2005 Reporting SERVICES. Upgrade Windows at all times managed without problems or errors. The problem is that my system gets now BSOD about 20 times a day. Its extremely unstable. I have restored to Home Premium using recovery disks, everything is stable until I apply vista ultimate improvement. I tried the upgrade without having to install any other software, shortly after my system crashes with BSOD 0 x 00008086. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Vista Business Edition would be the surface, but there is no upgrade for this. I am very confused as to why a skeleton of the system from vista home premium to vista ultimate would cause my sysytem so unstable... IF I run the windows upgrade advisor it says the following: (I installed the lastest 4965AGN driver and Bluetooth supplied with the system is the last available (5.0.1023.0)

After you install Windows Vista, this device will require an updated driver. For the latest driver, go to the Web site of the manufacturer of the device or contact you the retailer.

Before you install Windows Vista, go to the device manufacturer's Web site to download the latest driver for this device. After you install Windows Vista, install the registered driver.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Hello Jack

I imagine that you have these problems, because a few months ago, I read an interesting article on this update and it was written on possible problems after the upgrade procedure. I installed a few times Ultimate on my A200 but as new installation.

What you can try is to install the OS by using recovery media, delete all the stuff designed by Toshiba, including all other software like Norton. After doing this upgrade brand.

When the upgrade is complete, install all the stuff of Toshiba order following facilities described in the instructions for Installations. I A200 with Vista Home Premium but I don't have a media Anytime upgrade and cannot test with my Satellite.

  • Small windows opened by Web sites went upstairs to the left at the bottom right on a pc

The small windows allowed that sometimes pop up when I click on a link in, say, a Web site of the Bank, always used to appear in the upper left corner of the screen. But since last month, or so they started appearing in lower-right instead. (I don't know whether or not it was parallel with the update of FF 3.6.15 to 3.6.16).

I can move a window individual back manually to the top left corner, but I want to repeat here opening by default, as they always correctly on my another FF 3.6.16 pc.

I tried all kinds of travel, window resizing, etc., but that has no effect on where they open next time. All click-product allowed small windows are always open at the bottom right at the place at the top left because they always used (and still do on my other FF 3.6.16 pc).

  • After you install a second WD 1 TB my book drive, Windows Explorer does not see the new drive.

    Original title: Signature Collision?

I'm having hard to the installation of a second external drive. I use Windows 7 Ultimate RC. There was a WD 1 TB drive My Book already installed - healthy and works very well. The problem occurred after installing a second WD 1 TB my book reader. I followed all the instructions, pluuging the drive to a USB hub. Windows found the disk, installed drivers and reported the new drive ready for use.

Windows Explorer does not see the new drive. Devices and printers shows 2 external drives from WD. Disk Management shows as 2 drives, but the second disk is offline because of a 'Signature' Collision

Each player works very well if it's the only drive plugged in. "Eject My Book" does not work because a program (or more) are to use the player in the background (Windows or Norton).

I installed the latest firmware and I'm still having this problem. I've been emailing WD with this problem and they are running out of ideas.

    Can anyone help?
    Thank you

    Hello Comatose13,

There is an old article of KB in Windows XP that has been recently updated with additional measures to solve this kind of problem. The KB covers Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 with step by step methods. See if that helps.
