10g of functional problems upgrade to 11g

Hello gurus,

Upgrading an instance 11i, between 10 and 11g db. Can you help us with the list of common functional issues that business users would face, as linked to workflows, customizations, localozations etc... If anyone has the list of common problems to wait with their resolution, it would be very useful.

Modules of Oracle - PO, OM, INV, WIP, BOM, PRJ, AP, AR, GL, FA, mobile Service, EAM, iProc, iExp, CPSA

Thank you.

A database upgrade is technical and it usually causes no functional problems. However, you may consult the following and see if they help.

    Fix.  There is not currently a scheduled date for individuals with 11g as their highest certification of need to obtain a new certification.  If Oracle does not change their policy (unlikely), it will be a date in the future where it is practiced.  However, the upgrade to 11g will prolong the active life of their powers of Oracle by (I guess here) 2-3 years.

    I don't know what you mean by "shall take".  Once you have OCP, Oracle requires no additional training for practical requirement - even if the certifications become inactive and must be reactivated. I guess you mean that he took the class because he wanted to prepare 1Z0 - 050. Based on this issue, he now wonders if he needed to go directly to 1Z0 - 060 rather (and therefore would like to take the new features in preparation for this test review 12 c).

  • Remove the old "dump" spfile settings after the upgrade to 11g?

    We have recently upgraded to a development instance from 10g to 11g using dbua. During the upgrade, we have provided a value for diagnosis Destination (diagnostic_dest). However, when I do a "dump of parameter of the show', I see several obsolete parameters like background_dump_dest, user_dump_dest and core_dump_dest. Although filled with places, that we would expect (under "diag"), I had hoped dbua could get rid of these "old" settings I interpreter 'old' to mean "deprecrated."

    1st quarter) I must take action? I've seen several workshops to upgrade - to-11g / slides / tip sheets that recommend the deletion of "old" settings But they never seem to give any details on those who, precisely, to remove. Although I found the syntax (alter system reset < parameter name > scope = spfile sid ='* ') I need additional information on specific settings I should remove.

    Q2) when we went from 9i and 10 g some time ago, I think not that the decisions have been taken to remove settings from 'old', then either. If our current 11g pfile / spfile may have contained superfluous. So what is the best way to review and identify the parameters to delete? I have to do the following:

    Select name, value, isdeprecated of the parameter $ v where isdeprecated = 'TRUE '.

    ... and start from there?

    While it would be nice to have a 'clean' spfile, I didn't much care on superfluous, inert stuff that is not harmful. But I am concerned with settings that could cause unwanted and unexpected behavior or performance problems. Does someone can give a specific example (or examples) settings of 'old' by leaving in place where can cause side effects?

    When upgrading you must first remove all parameters Oracle will not be present. These are usually identified in the documents of upgrade.

    Second, you need to delete probably all parameters that are obsolete and if present ignored. The presence of ignored parameters looks like confusion somewhere down the line.

    Third, if you implement all the new features via database settings, you probably want to remove database settings that apply to the features that your new choice obsolete as you would probably want to remove sga_target and pga_aggregate_target, if you set to 11 g memory_target.

  • The upgrade from 11g to 12 c

    Hello

    We intend to improve our databases of 11g (11.2.0.3.11) to 12 c (12.1.0.2). We would like to know what are the steps that we need to upgrade the position.

    (1) all 11 g AWs automatically updated to 12 c? or do we rebuild US 11g AWs on 12 c after the upgrade? (We had to rebuild AWs after upgrading to 10g and 11g)

    (2) are there accessories performance in 12 c, which will apply to only AWS built on top of the 12 c?

    (3) we have an AW 10 g 11 g-based. Is it still compatible with 12 c AW?

    Thank you

    Dietsch.

    Hi dietsch,

    My answers are online.

    (1) all 11 g AWs automatically updated to 12 c? or do we rebuild US 11g AWs on 12 c after the upgrade? (We had to rebuild AWs after upgrading to 10g and 11g)

    The upgrade from 11g to 12 c requires no AWs to rebuild.

    (2) are there accessories performance in 12 c, which will apply to only AWS built on top of the 12 c?

    He might have a few new optimizations that have been incorporated into the version of 12 c of the AW you will not have access to until you rebuild the AW, but that does not prevent you from using the 11g version of the AW of 12 c.

    (3) we have an AW 10 g 11 g-based. Is it still compatible with 12 c AW?

    Yes, 12 c is backward compatible with an AW 10 g.

    In addition, once you upgrade it has some new features that you can use for OLAP.  The display below describe some of them.

  • Upgrade to 11g OCP10g

    Hi Experts,

    I need some information about the upgrade to OCP 11 g.

    Currently, I'm OCP 10g, I introduced myself to review on Nov, 2011 certification and my receipt in January 2012.

    Now I intend to switch to OCP 11 g, according to my understanding, I have to write for 1Z0-050 get a certification on the version 11 g can you please correct me if I'm on the wrong page. Also, is there an upgrade between versions chronology. One of my colleague said that it must be updated within three years of the period since the last time we were here during any review of OCP specific version. I don't know why but it does not seem true, can you please provide me with suggestions.

    Your response will be much appreciated, I intend to write for OCP 11 g next month. Also, if you can provide some guidance with reference books and review material that I should follow, currently I have following this book.

    Thank you

    Ankur-

    According to my understanding, I write for 1Z0-050 get a certification on the version 11 g can you please correct me if I'm on the wrong page.

    You are on the right page.  1Z0-050 is the correct review for a 10g OCP to upgrade to 11g.

    Also, is there an upgrade between versions chronology.

    N ° and here again... Yes.  There is no timeline set the moment in that you earn an OCP at the same time, you need to upgrade.  However, eventually Oracle certification will be obsolete the upgrade itself.  For example, the 10g certification track is removed in March of next year.  Under the said exam 1Z0-040 will disappear.  This means that 9i POC will no longer be able to upgrade to 10g.  This has nothing to do with the length of time, as they have become certified.  However, it will be several years before the track 11g is in retirement, so not an immediate concern for you.

    In addition, if you can provide some guidance with reference books and the examination material should I follow

    There is an Oracle book press specifically for 1Z0 - 050.  You will also find links to documents and other suggestions at the following ADDRESS:

  • listagg function problem

    Hello

    I'm not able to get the data using the listagg function.

    DB: 11g

    CREATE TABLE HAS

    (NAME, VARCHAR2 (10))

    VAL VARCHAR2 (10));

    INSERT INTO A VALUES ('LTR', ' 111');

    INSERT INTO A VALUES ('LTR', ' 112');

    INSERT INTO A VALUES ('LTR', ' 113');

    COMMIT;

    SELECT * FROM A;

    SELECT * FROM WHERE A VAL IN (SELECT LISTAGG (A1. VAL, ",") THE GROUP (RANKING BY A1. (VAL) AN A1);

    Break down the problem.

    your subquery is:

    SELECT LISTAGG (A1. VAL, ",") THE GROUP (RANKING BY A1. VAL) AN A1;

    which returns the following STRING:

    LISTAGG (A1. VAL, ",") WITHINGROUP (ORDERBYA1. VAL)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    111,112,113

    Then use one to find... so basically, you do this:

    SELECT * FROM WHERE A VAL IN ('111,112,113');

    See the problem yet?

    Looking around 'dynamic IN the list... "

    I don't have the links, however, it is fairly easy to find in this search string

  • Why a sql statement has become slow after upgrade to 11g database

    Hello

    My previous version of the database is 9I and any sql statement are well-developed.
    but after upgrading to 11g database, a sql statement become slowly.

    My senior dba friend told me there are a few different calculating methods from 9i to 11g.
    is any body can explain this different methods from 9i to 11g, and what should be attention to calculate at what level 9i to 11g. I thank.

    Sean

    The administrator of yours is correct. What he meant, 9i, the works of the optimizer with different formulas and 11 g, there are different formulas. PS this sometimes causes when you upgrade from 9i (or even 10g too), analyze the queries that worked with RBO in 9i perfectly and used indexes, all of a sudden they stop using it because the CBO think not that this is a good choice. It would be too difficult to put formulas here by anyone, but what I can say is that to buy a book.
    http://www.Amazon.com/cost-based-Oracle-fundamentals-experts-voice/DP/1590596366

    And practice on 9i, 10g and 11g. It would say a lot of formulas used by oracle.

    Hello everyone and happy to be here. I have a problem upgrading to Windows7 in Windows XP Professional. I have a Dell E510 while upgrading to Windows 7, I have reached the installation window and my complete system each item listed with a check mark next to: (copy of Windows files), (gathering files, settings, programs), (extension of Windows files). reached 27% full. I get a massage from windows restarts now... The computer does not restart. He asks me to press any key to boot from the CD. Once it goes to that, a window pops up that says "Windows starts now." It is not to go further than that. I release the CD and turn off the computer. When I restart again, a window prompts you to say 'start from the old system or windows put in place. " If I press windows set up, it does nothing. When I press on the old system, it restarts in Windows XP, and then a window invites you to tell me 'the computer started on your old system. It would not be upgraded. Contact Microsoft. This is getting very frustrating. I installed the Windows 7 DVD on my other HP computer without problem. But when he asks me to press any key to reboot from dvd and you do. There is no that start the installation from the beginning. "Collection Windows files, them"start windows"and them it is he don't, don't go anywhere." Can't someone help please? Thank you and I appreciate the help.

    Do not touch the keyboard when you are prompted to "Press any key", sit and wait Windows to continue the installation. Also did you select the 'custom' and not the 'Upgrade' option at the beginnng of the installation process.

  • upgrade to 11g of 10.2.0.4 in SUSE 10.

    Hi gurus,

    We have upgraded database 11g on our EBS 11i environment, the database size is about 1.3 TB, I already test upgrade, this was no positive results expected this as a customer on downtime, I followed the manual upgrade since I am quite familiar with this I have your comments and suggestions to reduce the downtime upgrade...

    upgrade to 11g of 10.2.0.4 in SUSE 10.

    Hello

    Is that your database is RAC or NON-RAC.
    If you go to the Group of patches upgrade, then you can go for patch update of roll .

    as you know, you can't always escape the downtime. ;-)

    I already test upgrade, that it was not positive results is expected this as a customer on downtime, I followed the manual upgrade because I'm quite familiar with that

    Oracle always throws DBUA with many features, why you won't find DBUA?

    You should test the TEST using DBUA environment ;-)

    If for example to 1.3 TB you consistent backup, you still have the downtime. then it is useless to think on the duration of the UPGRADE .

    but you can do proactively as... to install 11g ORACLE_HOME before downtime. & so on.

  • The Oracle Express Edition XE upgrade to 11g (11.2) using DBUA

    Hi all

    I have a server Oracle xe on a platform of red hat linux 4, I need to upgrade to 11g (11.2) using DBUA.
    This is the first time for me to use DBUA, I'm following the steps described in the Oracle database upgrade guide.
    I'm a little confused, I have a very basic question:

    in step pre using DBUA, when I install the 11g, can I install the oracle software only, or can I also create an 11g database?
    in other words, I have the impression that the DBUA will upgrade the XE database itself, change the data files and tables of the tenth to 11g?

    Thanks in advance for your time.

    You did not mention the full version of your database in the tenth. If one 10.2.0.1, you cannot improve it 11.2 using DBUA directly. First, you must update at least to 10.2.0.2 before going to 11.2.

    Please refer to Metalink Notes 980693.1 and 837570.1 for more details.

  • Problems since upgrade to 11g of 10g...

    I was wondering if someone falls on some of the issues, we had 10g to 11g conversion.

    We have recompiled all forms, PLL etc. to 11g developer.

    But if we have a form that refers to a procedure of PLL using CLOB we get ORA 32767.

    If change us the CLOB to VARCHAR2 sound fine.

    Any ideas?

    If you have access to MyOracleSupport, you should probably take a look at the notes 1302366.1

    The view is a table of the components in the part.  And the fact synonym refers to the view.

    Hi Charlie
    Take a look at

    After the upgrade the management of identities of 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.4.2 INTERNET_APPSERVER_REGISTRY. SCHEMA_VERSIONS is invalid (Doc ID 557591.1)

    You have improved your IDM to 10.1.4.3 so (although the title speaks about 10.1.4.2 (I think that the problem addressed in the document of support applies to your situation. In short, the invalid view can be ignored - and goes the same for the synonym... IAS_VERSIONS... I think it is a synonym for the view - and therefore is too marked as invalid.

    We have a three databases with replication between them activated by MV & MV connects to the 10 g R2 database.

    This must be upgraded to Database 11g R2 with a 2 RAC node.

    Please tell us how to get started and go.

    Also please notify once upgraded to database 11g R2, how replication can be achieved.

    Thank you

    > We have to first upgrade to 11 g R2 Instance unique and then move on RAC - node 2

    You must install the grid Infrastructure for Cluster and RAC database software in the new cluster.

    Then upgrade the database as a single instance database.

    Then, convert it to the RAC

    See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/rac.112/e17264/install_rac.htm#TDPRC185 for the conversion of the measures.
