Hi all

  • Can satellite L650D - 12 p - I install a Linux distribution on it?

    Hello.

5 months ago I've done probably one of my biggest mistakes; I bought a Satellite L650D - 12 p. To my horror, I discovered the inability of the computer to use, or even to install Linux any.

Since I bought it, I tried about 4 times a month, to install Linux, nothing helps. I tried searching through forums of Linux, tried several settings, etc. BIOS Insyde H2O L650D - just 12 p does not work with any distribution, the newest BIOS (which was released 6 months ago) doesn't make any difference either. ACPI is totally off, the DSDT tables are corrupt. Other people say ACPI general problems with Toshiba machines; It seems I'm not the only one.

This is how it is supposed to be? The customer is refused, the right to use the operating system he wishes to? We are forced to use only Microsoft products? Even Apple computers can install any other operating systems.

I thought that the age of the software forcing on people have long since disappeared. Alas, it isn't.

    Hi Sylvestre,.

In General, you can install what you want on your laptop. Linux should also be possible, but there is no official support for Toshiba how to do this and there is no Linux drivers for this. If you want Linux, see a few external pages for advice and useful tips.

    Hello gamcall64,

What are you trying to do exactly?

The darwinup is a development tool very obscure and possibly obsolete for own use of Apple. I didn't even know on this subject until you said it.

Hopefully, protecting the integrity of system prevented it from changes. Otherwise, I suggest you to reinstall your operating system. You have not disabled SIP do you have?

  • Satellite L300D-12U - two problems after installing Ubuntu Linux

    Hello

    I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on my brand-new u. Satellite L300D-12
So far, everything works fine, but there are two things bother me.

    1. I have problem with suspends to RAM. It does not work. If I use the option to boot, the screen goes black but the laptop is still running (you can hear it).
In addition, nothing happens when I press the power button to exit the sleep option.
I completely close the laptop and restart to be back in Ubuntu.
Maybe someone has some ideas how I can fix the problem?

    My/etc/default/acpi-support have these entries:

    # Comment the following line to disable the ACPI suspend to RAM
    ACPI_SLEEP = true

    # Comment the following line to disable the suspension on disc
    ACPI_HIBERNATE = true

    # Change the following of 'sleep' to use ACPI S1 sleep, rather than S3.
    # This will save less energy, but can run on machines more
    # ACPI_SLEEP_MODE = mem
    ACPI_SLEEP_MODE = standby

    2 battery life
My current maximum battery life is 01:10 hours. On windows, it's 2 hours >. Maybe someone has some ideas of configuration to increase the time of battery under Ubuntu?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    Hello manual

I'm really skeptical about Linux here support. I heard that Toshiba will start with Linux support, but of course, it is not started yet.

If nobody here can offer help I recommend you discuss this on some Linux forum. You have more chance of getting help here.

    Hello

I intend to install Linux on my computer laptop m70 and I was wondering what is the exact specification of my laptop screen (horizontal refresh rate, vertical refresh rate, etc.)

Also - what are th e linux drivers from the ati site works with the ati x 600 chip?

    Hello

As far as I know this device was shipped with a screen 15.4 "(1280 x 800) TruBrite Wide XGA TFT color display." But the detailed information on the screen, you will find in the user manual.

All graphics driver: I recommend to use only the graphics driver Toshiba because this driver uses a function of protection due to overheating problems. But if you want to use one other drivers, you can do it at your own risk.
In addition, the Toshiba doesn't supports Linux because the units are supplied only with the Microsoft Windows operating system.

  • Linux (Slackware 13.1) on the Toshiba Satellite C660D - 10 p

Hi guys. I want to buy the laptop shown in the topic, but I first wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with Linux on it and maybe even with distribution Slackware 13.1. Is it portable and compatible linux? Another issue is whether someone has a link to Toshiba's official information on this laptop. I could not find it in the session of products from the Web site. There is no such model - ' C660D - 10 p. However, I have the printed sheet "Technical Details" of her saddle (store), but there is no info on the chipset and the specifically-wireless interface model

    Any time the worksheet says:
CPU: AMD Athlon II P340 (2.20 Ghz)
    Physical memory: 4096 MB DDR3 (1066 Mhz)
    Graphics card: Radeon HD 4250
    HARD drive: 320 GB

Webcam, mic, wlan, lan, vga, card reader, usb

    To summarize:
T1) do you think Slackware and cell phone are compatible?
Q2) where is the official information of the Toshiba on this model?

    ---
    Thx a lot.

Laptops are specific products of these countries and if this laptop model is offered in your country simply check out the official page of Toshiba.

    What about Linux?
As you probably know he is not officially supported by Toshiba so until you wait here check the Linux section on this forum or try to visit some of the Linux forums. There you can often find about Linux on laptops different reports including different Toshiba laptops.

  • Can install ANY Linux on x120e

Hello, I bought ThinkPad x120e, and my primary operating system is Linux. Now, I have used Linux for 10 years now, and I have not through such a problem until now, even if other people say that they installed Linux on the thing with success.
I tried to boot ArchLinux from the flash drive USB, passes GRUB, but starts then stops at the message "kernel startup".

I tried 15 Fedora and Ubuntu 11.10, the same thing. That once Ubuntu has successfully started (I don't know how it happened, by chance I guess), and it worked perfectly.

I am very disappointed by this

    Any help appreciated, thanks.

I found the problem. When I make a change in the BIOS and then select 'Save and Exit BIOS', the laptop will not start hard, but will be the attempt to load the operating system. In the case of Linux, the kernel will not start. When I turn off and turn on the laptop, Linux starts as usual. Is there anyone with x120e, who can confirm this? Is there any where that I can report this bug for Lenovo? Thank you.

    Hi all

To create an exe on a Linux platform, you need LabVIEW for Linux with its application builder. You can open the source on the Linux machine.

  • Detect programmatically whether AutoVue DD is installed (Windows/Linux)

    Hello

I need help to detect if the user AutoVue Desktop Deployment installed (on Windows/Linux operating systems) via Java. Under Windows I thought on the lookout records under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" without success (at least, I couldn't find any registry on AutoVue). Under Linux, I suppose I could use something like 'whereis' to find autovue.exe, but Windows is a priority at the moment. Hope you guys can help me pointing a few ways to solve my problem.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Lucas,.

This seems to be a question of Java/Windows rather than a specific safety issue. Check Registry sounds like a good approach. If DD AutoVue is installed you should be able to find it under the same registry path where you can find other programs installed (for example HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall). Remember, if you have installed on 64-bit, it could be in the "Wow6432Node" path under \SOFTWARE.
