  5 months ago I've done probably one of my biggest mistakes; I bought a Satellite L650D - 12 p. To my horror, I discovered the inability of the computer to use, or even to install Linux any.

I tried searching through forums of Linux, tried several settings, etc. BIOS Insyde H2O L650D - just 12 p does not work with any distribution, the newest BIOS (which was released 6 months ago) doesn't make any difference either.   I found the problem. When I make a change in the BIOS and then select 'Save and Exit BIOS', the laptop will not start hard, but will be the attempt to load the operating system.   This seems to be a question of Java/Windows rather than a specific safety issue. Check Registry sounds like a good approach. If DD AutoVue is installed you should be able to find it under the same registry path where you can find other programs installed (for example HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall). Remember, if you have installed on 64-bit, it could be in the "Wow6432Node" path under \SOFTWARE.
