    Hi Guy,

I want to install Solaris on my laptop of G20 Qosmiop. I have already created two partitions on my 1st disc and I already installed WIN XP on the first Partition.
So in my second Partition on the disk I want to install the Solaris x 86 operating system.
When I go through the process of initialization of the system with solaris, it throws the error as "Thheir is No DISK FOUND.

    Any idea or Suggestion.
    Regards.

    Hello

Qosmio G20 uses the RAID controller.
If you install windows for example you must integrate the RAID driver at the beginning.
I guess that the same procedure should be made on the Solaris operating system.
Unfortunately, Toshiba doesn't supports any other operating system. Only the name of Microsoft Windows.

If you want, you can see the Solaris page. Maybe you will find detailed information.

I'll say right now that I have a call open with support, but I was wondering if anyone else in the community has experienced this problem. I installed a version a little earlier to 12.1.0.2 on Solaris 11 without problem, but on a different server). This earlier version is no longer available for download, so it cannot try easy (cannot transfer files easily to this site).

All thoughts welcome. As I said above, got a call open with Support for a few days now, but does not seem to make a lot of progress and I was wondering if he had any experience of this problem. It's a new LDom, with the d/b repository in the same LDom (different Oracle Home). Deployment of 'Small' and choose the option to install "Advanced". Currently, there is no connection to the web, download so no fixes during installation automatic.

My next thought is try 12.1.0.1, just to see if it installs.

  • Install Solaris 10 on ESX 3

    Hi all

After the Solaris 10 installation on a Windows virtual machine does not start at startup because it stops without displaying any errors.

Someone did it? How to configure your virtual machine?

    Thanks in advance

Looks like a proc 64 bit, Solaris will automatically install 64-bit when it detects 64-bit hardware.  When you created the virtual machine you choose Solaris 32-bit or 64-bit?  Try to change this setting for the virtual machine.

I think that the error would cause the JDK version with which try to initialize.

Anyone has an idea on the possible error? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I advise you to try to use the generic Setup program to: % SOA_INSTALLER_DIR%/Disk1/runInstaller. Because if you use the runInstaller in the %SOA_INSTALLER_DIR%/Disk1/install/solaris it will lead to this problem in some cases.

  • Not available in Solaris 11.2 nested virtualization

    Hello!

Anyone know why virtual hardware virtualization is not available for my guest 11.2 Solaris?

I want to be able to use the kernel of Solaris zones.

    The host environment:

SuperMicro A1SRM-2758F, 32 GB of RAM

    ESXi - 5.5 (build 2302651)

I know that the CPU (Atom C2758) supports the VT - x and EPT which is required for 64-bit virtualization nesting

    And navigation:

    https://MyIP/mob/?MOID=HA-host & doPath = Capability

Show me the (unsupported) feature is available:

    nestedHVSupportedBoolean

    true

I have created a virtual machine with vHardware vmx-10, selected "expose hardware assisted virtualization to the guest OS ' and installed Solaris 11, 2 as a guest.

I also checked that "vhv.enable ="TRUE"' is not found in the vmx file."

But since the kernel of Solaris box comments are not available:

    # virtinfo

    NAME CLASS

    VMware courses

    -area support

    # uname - a

    SunOS 5.11 global1 11.2 i86pc i386 i86pc

Anyone have ideas why this is not available. Worked fine in VMware Fusion.

    Best regards

    -Morten Hermansen, Fanitas Green

I think I found it.  11.2 Solaris dislikes apparently the model and the progression of your CPU Avoton.  If I change the model and execution of my Haswell system to match your Avoton, I lost also for areas of kernel comments in my Solaris 11.2 customers.

    Try these configuration options:

    featMask.vm.cpuid.MODEL = Val: 0x3c

    featMask.vm.cpuid.STEPPING = Val: 0 x 3

That will give the impression that you have a processor Haswell (at least to the extent where the model and progression are concerned).

  • Physics-conversion machine virtual Solaris

    Hi team,

Can we do the physical to virtual machine conversion Solaris... Solaris server is Sun V445 Sun V210 models.

    Thanks in advance

The V210 and the V445 are both SPARC and as such cannot be virtualized on vSphere, which only supports x 86.

You will need to create a new virtual machine, install Solaris x 86 and install and search/install a version of Solaris x 86 for your application.

  • Customer update from 6.3 to 11g on Solaris 11

We work with a client who bought new hardware from Oracle and installed Solaris 11, where root is a role and not much of a user.
The plan is to move a 6.3-11g in parallel mode environment, if we can.
So that the old and new environments run in parallel, on the new hardware, we wanted to build a 6.3 environment that synchronizes with replication
with the current context and then upgrade in place.

We hit the hurdle from the beginning; for example how to configure Tomcat6 so that we can create directory servers that start as a person.

Currently, the only way to get the DSCC on Tomcat6 is to install ADS in cascade webservd and problems here.

Anyone who works for 6.3.x' s Department DSCC running on Glassfish 3.0.1 where this works a little better, or is there a better approach.

    Thanks in advance. Michael

I do something similar, except will not comment on Solaris, Solaris Linux - just support us better Linux for my company.

I created to 11.g 6.3 replication agreements, from one server to another, and you could do an import/export or init-repl-dest according to the size of the data.  It is easier to do with the command-line instead of dscc.

You will not be able to use the dscc 6.3 to manage 11.g servers and vice versa.  They can monitor each other, but they are unable to manage the configuration of the other.

From my experience, you will need to use Java 1.7 to get anything to work properly.  Make sure it is what you have in your path.

  • How to build 64-Bit Solaris VM?

    My configuration is:

CPU: Intel Core 2 duo E8400 (it's active VT and EM64T) I turn on VT of Bios

    Memory: 8 GB

Image of Solaris use (s): sol-10-u6-ga1-x86-dvd.iso

    VMware workstation: 6.5.1

I want to create a 64 Bit Solaris VM. But when start installing solaris 64-bit VM, it shows me it starts in 32-bit mode. It would be very tahnksful if someone guide me on how to create solaris 64-bit VM

First of all, Solaris 10 GA will not work in 64-bit on your processor.  Processor model number, you have to at least Solaris 10 update 4 or Solaris 10 update 6 for a family of Core 2 CPU.

Second, if Solaris 10 GA is start in 32-bit mode rather than simply restart immediately, then 64-bit mode is disabled in your virtual machine.   You have activated the VMI paravirtualization (which disables the 64-bit mode), or VT is not enabled on your processor.  Can you post a file vmware.log for this virtual machine?

  • 32-bit host, Solaris 10 64-bit XP

    Hello

I new here... and I'm very new to VM ware too. I'm doing some tests with VM and ESXi server. ESXi seems fine for what we need we, but server vm is a pain.

I've looked everywhere and could not find a confirmation if the above (in the title) is possible. Can I run Solaris 10 64-bit if my host OS is WinXP 32 bit? I tried to install Solaris in different ways, always using a Solaris 10 64 model... still no luck. Solaris always starts in 32-bit.

On the same machine, we have Solaris (on a different partition, dual boot), and this version doesn't work on 64 no probs.

    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the forums!

For VMware Server 2.0 you don't need a 64 bit OS host.

For the two you need a host 64-bit and (active) Intel-VT or AMD - V (active) or AMD64 Rev D or later.

There is a utility to check for 64-bit: http://www.vmware.com/download/server/drivers_tools.html

  • Solaris x 86 32 bit crashes after installation

    Hello

I install Solaris 10 g (32-Bit, ground-10-u6-ga1 - x 86) in a virtual machine on the ESX 3.5 server. The displays come very well but when the installion is complete and reboot happens, it breaks down and vm will be turned off.

Can someone let me know how to solve this problem, I am new to solaris.

    Concerning

    David

First of all, if you have a 64-bit processor, Solaris 10 will start an OS 64-bit by default, unless you provide explicit start-up settings to force a 32 bit OS to start.  It is likely that you dΘmarrez actually Solaris x 64 rather than Solaris x 86.

You have a recent Intel CPU?  Solaris 10 x 64 GA will crash immediately while booting on modern Intel processors, due to a bad CPU identification problem in Solaris.  This produces both native mode and in a virtual machine.  Depending on how your CPU is recent, you must have at least the Solaris 10 x 64 3 update or update of Solaris 10 x 64 5 to solve this problem.

Someone else had a similar problem and managed to resolve it?

    Thank you!

    Select this option.

I just ran into the same error.

    I found the solution here:

VMware Server 2.0 Release Candidate 2 Release Notes

It seems to be a lot of information still relevant in the beta and RC release notes which have been removed from the final product release notes.

It is the second thing that I found it.

The first thing is that the option to install to start/stop the virtual machines with Windows disable the fast user switching.

    Thank you

I did say that Oracle Linux (OL) can be installed on SPARC. I said that the simple marketing response is to use Solaris on SPARC (Solaris Intel processor is trolling and lack the support of Oracle) and use Linux for Intel/AMD (Larry hired a few waves to OL provision on SPARC, but nothing to my knowledge is still available).

So Oracle is no at this stage do not have a conflict between Solaris and OL marketing. These operating systems use different platforms h/w with different CPU architectures.

Yes, you can install Linux on SPARC (there are kernel builds for this CPU architecture). Yes, you can install Solaris on Intel (earlier version is available for this CPU architecture).

In both cases, however, there is next to nothing to install and more. S/w like Apache, RDBMS Oracle, mySQL, PHP, Perl, Python, etc. are built on Linux AMD/Intel cores and not on the Linux SPARC kernels. Similarly there is very little s/w available for execution on Solaris Intel.
