  FWIW, the El Capitan applications are no different from Yosemite. In fact, it is easier on resources in some areas.   I suggest you to buy 2 x 1 GB (memory equivalent 2 modul necessary to have dual channel mode) RAM DDR2-667. I currently using Venus Kingmax 2 x 1 GB (PC2-5400, model name: KSCD48F-A8KB5) without problem and the dual channel mode.
