2 depths of different bits... Who's the real?

I apologize, it becomes confusing. Answer and I'll try to clarify the best I can. I'll even send the sample files that I had experiences.

In iTunes, I was converting WAV files into Apple Lossless (ALAC) .m4a files. Recently, some of those that I have converted had some incompatible bit depth values. Since I work in Adobe Audition CS6, I different output formats: settings for 32/64-bit (integer or floating Point IEEE), sometimes 24-bit wide, the format and types of 192,000 or 44,100 kHz and up to 32 bit (float) of the sample.

Contradictory? YES. It seems strange to have the format settings of up to 64-bit integer/float, but the types of samples of different sampling rate and almost always 32 bit (float). What is a possible reason?

Another problem: iTunes has the ability to convert files to the ALAC, among other formats. It turns out that iTunes has the ability to convert "32-bit", but only in special circumstances. Work in Adobe Audition CS6, I have two options for "32-bit:"integer 32-bit and 32-bit Floating Point (IEEE). " So that iTunes can maintain that small depth, I need to select 32-bit under the Format settings and 32-bit under sample Type INTEGER. When the file has been exported, I reopen it in Adobe Audition, where the Bit depth (in the "Files" box in the upper right corner) is listed as "32 (float)" all of a sudden. I didn't export, I didn't convert, but despite the specifiaclly select "Integer", I have 1 audio file of 32-bit Float. In iTunes, this can make very well. iTunes called "32-bit" as well, and it converts to other formats in iTunes as 32 bit (float proabably) very well. However, if I export an audio file with the settings for 32-bit Floating Point (IEEE) of the hearing Format, iTunes fails to convert 32-bit, but rather converts it to 16-bit.

Here's what it really weird: lately, each unique ALAC file opens in Adobe Audition as having a number of bits of the '32 (float)."

Then... Where are the flaws? What are the real depths of bits? ALAC files with the same sampling rate and the depths of different bits (according to iTunes) always appear as "32 (float)" in Adobe Audition. Is iTunes convert to 32-bit, and he doesn't know?

Thoughts?

Try looking in the advanced properties of the file - it pourrait well tell you exactly what it is. But I'm not surprised confusion from ALAC, it's just a container for something fundamentally different, and the displayed properties will reflect that, rather than the actual content. But if you say hearing to open all the 32-bit files, that's what it will say that they have been decoded as. Yes, it's an option in the preferences...

  • How to extract the same song, several times using different bit rates or formats and store all the digital music files in WMP 12 default on the same HDD music library

    Using Windows Media Player 12 (w/under Windows 7), "can I ripping the same song, several times, using different bitrates & and/or formats and store all the digital music files in the music library by default WMP - 12, on the same hard drive?

    1.) #1 goal: tear up the same song repeatedly, w / "different rates" as a WMA file.

    2.) #2 goal: tear up the same song repeatedly, w / "different rates" as an mp3 file.

    3.) #3 objective: NOT to each subsequent copy (version) of the song, deleted & and/or replaced by the previous version of the song [even].

    4.) question Bottom Line Up Front--> is Windows Media Player 12 (included with the Windows 7 operating system) are able to achieve '#1 objectives; #2; & #3 above?

    5.) details/example: I want to tear the piece "Maria Maria by Carlos Santana" to my laptop as a Windows Media Audio [WMA] file.  In addition, I would like to rip the song 'Maria Maria' three several times with 3 different bitrates in format WMA; and, as an MP3 file.  Therefore, my final result wished (after the extraction process), will take place the four 4 audio files split up as follows: (a) 'Maria Maria by Carlos Santana'--> Format: file WMA; Ripped @128 Kbps bitrate.  (b) ' Maria Maria by Carlos Santana'--> Format: file WMA; Ripped to the "Variable bit rate; (c) ' Maria Maria by Carlos Santana'--> Format: file WMA; Ripped commissioning "Lossless." and (d). 'Maria Maria by Carlos Santana'--> Format: MP3 file. Ripped @256 Kbps bitrate.

    6.) my preference: I do NOT want to rename the file (s). {for example, 'Maria Maria by Carlos Santana' renamed/changed for--> "Maria_Maria_by_Carlos_Santana_128kbps.wma",...} 'Maria_Maria_by_Carlos_Santana_256kbps.mp3 '; etc.}.  In addition, I am not concerned about the additional disk space that will be consumed after multiple copies of the same song with different speeds of transmission and different formats.

    7.) my experience w / Windows Media Player 10 (w / the operating system of Windows XP): using WMP - 10, my goal (s) described above is not a problem at all.  Simply insert the CD purchased by Carlos Santana, containing the song "Maria Maria"... Select the desired Format (WMA; WMA VBR; WMA Lossless; or mp3)... Select the desired flow rate (WMA... 128/160/192kbps_mp3: 128/192/256/320 kbit / s; etc.) ; and click on the "RIP" button to start the copy process on the hard disk of of Carlos Santana's "Maria Maria".  This process (w / WMP-10) would result in having the same song, copied on the hard disk, with levels of quality different "audio" (via the different bit rate settings); regardless of the format (MP3/WMA) which was chosen.

    8.) my experience w / Windows Media Player 11 (w / the operating system of Windows XP): using WMP 11, to described above of my objective (s) could not be reached e-a-s-i-l-y.  The problem with WMP - 11 - in short - which was after the desired selection "Rip settings" tab 'Options' of WMP - 11 (i.e., Format & Bit Rate) and heart-wrenching piece wanted to {'Maria Maria by Carlos Santana'} a moment later/second, WMP11 remove / would crush the previous version of the song [even].  Therefore, the program would NOT allow the user to have multiple copies of the same song on the hard drive of the PC; which obviously restricts a user to have the freedom to choose what level of quality digital audio, they prefer to listen to.

    9.) the ability to have multiple copies [at my descretion] of the same song (on my hard drive) with different bitrates and formats in my music library, is important for me because it has a direct impact on "how I enjoy MY music ', and in what form (audio quality), I choose to listen to my music.  {For example, when I exercise and listening to my camera, digital audio player (Zune), a song ('Maria Maria by Carlos Santana'), will usually be torn off at a lower rate due to the unit of capacity reduction of storage - compared to the storage capacity of notebook PCs/desktop/external hard drives PC.}  However, when I listen to my music through my home cinema or entertainment system (which contains a hard disk dedicated with a large storage capacity), I prefer to load the entertainment system with digital music files that have been ripped to WMA... with the bit being rate-setting is for the: settings "WMA Variable Bit Rate" or "WMA Lossless.

    10.) there you have it.  This is my first post in this forum.  I hope that [detailed] explanations, will be sufficient to encourage these "with knowledge & the hands on experience" using Windows Media Player 12 (as well as with WMP-10/WMP-11 respectively), by providing a [step] "How-to"... "solution to my situation.  It would be highly appreciated.  I'm looking forward-'the solution' - and relevant suggestions & and/or community feedback regarding my request for assistance.

    * Thank 'All' (that would) in advance... For your time & Assistance *.

    Certainly, you can, but I would say that they be in different folders, for your convenience as well as Windows.  You can create one for each debit/format, then you will know who is who.

    In Windows Media Player, on the toolbar, select Tools, Options, Rip, and then select the flow you want first, rip music, then change the folder (higher on the same tab) and rip again... and so on and so forth.

    When you are at home on your home theater, you can use the 320 bitrate folder, when you transfer to the Zune, you can use one of the lower bitrate files (although I personally tear it up to 320 and let the Zune reduce as he wants, even with the iPhone via iTunes, hard drive space is not really a problem here) my server has several hard drives, and I can always add more if and when space is low!

  • switch to a different bit rate?

    Hello

    I worked all the time with 32-bit float. Now, I want to use 24 bits, because this is the most widely used standard.

    But there are only 8, 16 or 32 bit float visible. How can I get 24 bit?  It is not possible on hearing (2).

    And that means 32-bit 'float '?

    Thank you

    It's depth that you're talking about, not the rate. The rate is the sampling rate - 44.1 k, 48 k, whatever.

    32-bit floating point is a special form of registration that is lossless, even when the severely dealt with 24-bit - he uses the bits scaled service to store the amplitude of the signal and has a longer range than the entire 24-bit recording. But essentially, it is 24-bit - just stored in a slightly different way. It is also the internal hearing format works to-it does not at all in the native format of int. 24-bit (lower). Who is registered for inferior applications like ProTools...

    So the correct thing to do is to work at the hearing in 32 bits, and when you want to save a 24 - bit copy you select the menu 'options' box on the screen recording and select 24-bit int. Type 1 and you're done. You can do this from a 32-bit file - it will not save the 16-bit files this way unless you up-conversion them first.

    Does anyone know why I would double in pictures pictures that vary considerably in size? Who is the likely cause?

    If you see this by snooping directly in the photo library file, are not!

    Photos is essentially a database program. The one and the only way to manage images in the library is via the interface of Photos, or you will corrupt the database.

    In addition to store the original files (if you do not ckoose to keep a local library optimized), pictures also maintains smaller, miniature to speed up the loading of the different images.

  • x 64 (64-bit) bug in the C API

    I try to get the C API of 64-bit running.  I have the 32-bit running API, and it is not working properly.  It seems that no API call in the 64-bit environment, which returns more than a single data type replaces a box of memory it does not.

    I work in VB.NET and enveloping with a marshaling calls.  The simplest example of a call that is not working properly is querying the active channels on the scope:

    C header:

    niVB_Status NIVB_DECL (niVB_MSO_QueryEnabledAnalogChannels)
    niVB_MSO_InstrumentHandle instrumentHandle,
    char * channels.
    size_t channelsSize,
    size_t * channelsSizeOut);

    There are several different ways to encode a managed, unmanaged for this translation.  First is to use an allocation to build a pointer on a buffer zone:

    Pointer = Marshal.AllocHGlobal (MAX_CSTRING_LENGTH)

    Then, the declaration looks like this:

    _
    Public Shared Function niVB_MSO_QueryEnabledAnalogChannels_64 (ByVal instrumentHandle As Integer, ByVal channel As Integer, ByVal channelsSize As UInteger, ByRef channelsSizeOut As UInteger) as niVB_Status
    End Function

    When the call is made, the call to channelsSizeOut returns 23 characters (which is correct).  Channels IntPtr is however cancelled (this should never happen, he suggests that the battery is getting damaged.)  If I put a very wide range locally around the pointer, sometimes it is not damaged.

    Or you can call the function by using a call to stringbuilder.  Basically, it replaces the IntPtr parameter with a string generator using marshaling for a pointer:

    Dim bufChannels As New StringBuilder (MAX_CSTRING_LENGTH)

    then the call looks like this:

    _
    Public Shared Function niVB_MSO_QueryEnabledAnalogChannels_64 (ByVal instrumentHandle As IntPtr, ByVal channel As StringBuilder, ByVal channelsSize As UInteger, ByRef channelsSizeOut As UInteger) as niVB_Status
    End Function

    Yet once, calling this function causes the stringbuilder class being together (Nothing), which is essentially showing that stack space where is the pointer to the StringBuilder is getting damaged.

    It is important to note that this code works perfectly with the 32-bit version of the DLL (with a programming construct).

    I don't think it's a bug in the C API; I can do the following for both x 86 and x 64 without triggering of MSVC stack Canaries. (Note that for brevity, it does no checking error in this code snippet.)

    #include
    #include
    #include ' nivirtualbench/nivirtualbench.h '.

    int main (int argc, char * argv)

    {

    niVB_LibraryHandle libHandle = NULL;

    niVB_MSO_InstrumentHandle msoHandle = NULL;

    size_t channelsSizeOut = 0;

    char * enabledChannels = NULL;

    niVB_Initialize (NIVB_LIBRARY_VERSION & libHandle);

    niVB_MSO_Initialize (libHandle, "brandonbench", false, & msoHandle);

    niVB_MSO_QueryEnabledAnalogChannels (msoHandle, NULL, 0, & channelsSizeOut);

    enabledChannels = (char *) calloc (channelsSizeOut, sizeof;

    niVB_MSO_QueryEnabledAnalogChannels (msoHandle, enabledChannels, channelsSizeOut, & channelsSizeOut);

    printf ("permit to channels: %s\n", enabledChannels);

    Free (enabledChannels);

    niVB_MSO_Close (msoHandle);

    niVB_Finalize (libHandle);

    }

    I suspect that the problem is in your marshaling. Size_t parameters are probably better represented using System.UIntPtr and not the type UInteger; size_t is 32-bit on 32-bit platform and 64 bits on 64-bit platforms, but UIntegers are 32-bit at a time. Try to write channelsSizeOut, it's probably what is triggering the corruption of the stack.

    I ran windows 7 installation on my computer using DVD who had 32 and 64-bit data and for that I currently have 32-bit and 64-bit installed in my computer. OT:

    Windows

    Why do you think you have "32-bit and 64-bit" versions of Windows 7 installed?

    If you installed the 64-bit version (which you will need if your computer has more than 4 GB of RAM and you want to use all of this RAM), you can see a few references to 32-bit architecture.  The 64 bit version of Windows needs these files in order to run software that is designed for 32-bit architecture.

    Perhaps the most obvious instance is the presence of the following two directories:

    C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x 86).  It is normal for both of these directories present in a 64-bit system.

  • the 32-bit version of the plugin does not work after filterSelectorParameters

    Hello!

    I have a working version of the 64-bit plugin tested PS CC 2015. It manages only the filterSelectorStart and the filterSelectorAbout, and it works well. To compile as a 32-bit version, that I modified the caviggia file from

    CodeWin64X86 {'PluginMain'},

    TO

    #ifdef _WIN64

    CodeWin64X86 {'PluginMain'},

    #else

    CodeWin32X86 {'PluginMain'},

    #endif

    Then I compiled 32-bit version of the plugin and have started testing in PS CC (not 20xx, just CC). Before I tried to debug plugin has caused an error in allocating memory, debugging showed me this call stack.Call stack.png

    WHY is it produces, why 64-bit plugin works well and 32 bits can not? I tried to maxSpace value 0 or a low value, but in any case filterSelectorParameters branch has been called, and then there was an exception in the depths of the PS.

    Please help me fix this strange problem. Thanks in advance!

    Thank you very much Tom for assistance!

    During the long search I found a core of the problem: it is my love for the __stdcall calling convention. It looks like PluginMain must be __cdecl, so if you like __stdcall too, set at least CC of PluginMain to __cdecl. No other problems were detected.
