    Hello guys,.

So after a few windows security updates my docking station ethernet port stopped working, it does not detect a physical cable connected. I've upgraded to the latest firmware for the dock but no luck, stops on the port to save energy also. If I connect the cable directly to my X 1 using the adapter of the eth-miniDP I get connectivity very well using the same cable and B end port.

  • A21m (2628-F2U) - Linux operating system? Ubuntu?

My ThinkPad A21m (2628-F2U, PIII 750 MHz (256 KB), 512 MB RAM) works very effectively with Windows 2000 SP4 and seems to work on the internet with dial-up, as my great power, 2 GB of RAM Windows XP computers better.) Unfortunately, it is now difficult to get software anti-virus and firewall that are compatible with Windows 2000. (I suspect - but have not had a chance to fully examine the still - that my A21m would not meet material specifications for the current anti-virus software and firewall versions anyway.)

I was wondering if moving to Linux, Ubuntu or another operating system would be useful, or would only add to my woes. If I switched to Linux, for example, the Thinkpad drivers and the software would work with the new operating system? Most of the other programs, such as Outlook Express, Microsoft Office and so on, would work with the new operating system?

If anyone has had experience with the problem of Windows 2000 is no longer supported by providers of antivirus and firewall, I would appreciate your comments and suggestions. Thank you.

There is one side and renowned internet security that is compatible with Windows 2000 product and works well with my ThinkPad A21m without draining or focusing on resources. This is ESET Smart Security 5, which includes antivirus protection and firewall. Also, the update on a dial-up connection process works well and doesn't cause me annoyance. I thank Mornsgrans for attracted my attention on ESET. Now that I have a security product that works well with my ThinkPad A21m hardware and operating system Windows 2000, I can continue to use my ThinkPad A21m in the foreseeable future.

  • X 201 use of the SIM card

    Hello

    I use X 201 laptop Thinkpad, type 3680.

    1. I would like to know if the WWAN card is pre-installed?
    2. If not, would like to know if there are any available location that allows easy installation?
    3. If the laptop must be opened, please suggest a link as a guide to install the WWN card.

    I apprecite your help.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    1. go into Device Manager, point to adapters. Or look at the Lenovo support site (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?), press 'Edit', type in your mobile MTM. If the word "WWAN" persists in the brief decription it means wwan card shoul be preinstalled. If you will see "WWAN option" or "WWAN ready" it means laptop a wwan and only SIM card antennas. If you will not see the items as I mentioned above, you must install wwan AND wwan card antennas. I'm not sure that the sim reader, in this case, persists or not.

  • R50 Wireless problems

I had a virus on my laptop, a R50 Thinkpad Type 1830 and had to do a complete reinstall. The only problem is that the installation disc was not for the laptop, but rather for my office.
Since the virus has infected my computer, I have not been able to add my network connection. In Device Manager, there is no evidence for a wireless network card. I guess that's what is my problem.
I have gone to the age of the R50 and downloaded all the drivers I could find. Yet it does not show any wireless adapter. There is more than one driver to download and not one of them works. I'm naïve about how I know what type of adapter on this computer. I'm not very tech savvy.
I have a non-working R50 that I can open and take no need for parts, but I think it's unnecessary.
I am beyond frustrated trying to understand this point and probably eventually find another laptop used. But in the meantime, if I could connect wirelessly, it would be great!
If I downloaded all the drivers on the site, why wouldn't it show up in my device manager? And there is something under "Other devices" and has a big yellow question mark. It is titled "Network controller" I can't understand what it is for and how to make it work.

    Can someone help me?

Problem solved! I found the right driver and clicking setup and everything is good now...

  • Network/Wireless problem

Hi all! I have installed recently an old Thinkpad Type 2682 with Windows XP SP2. Drive format, installation of operating system, driver installation, everything is fine. The only issue I'm having is with the network. The wireless card appears to not be there and the connection to the Ethernet does not work. I installed all the drivers and it says everything is working (although I can't see or find the wireless card), but when I Pug in an ethernet cable from my router or modem, nothing happens. I can't get online - I get the message "a network cable is unplugged. Nothing at all. Thre only way I can get online is via a USB connection on the modem. I really want to use the wireless features - someone has an answer. Thanks for the space!

Welcome to the forum, dinger and illesadam!

    Your wireless driver:

    http://www-307.IBM.com/PC/support/site.WSS/document.do?sitestyle=Lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-54956

After downloading, you must unzip it to C > drivers > win > Wlanint

    I hope this helps.

  • Need help to find what is REALLY to my advantage?

I bought what I said was a ThinkPad Edge 530, with a processor i5, 6 GB of memory, a numeric keypad and running @ 7 200 RPM. When he arrived, he had not the numeric keypad. The seller told me that the keypads were not available at the edge. (Strange, the same one @ Costco was one in the picture... Then he told me it is available in a month after I purcahsed mine as well as all the brochures Lenovo just had the edge. s in the picture like that! Oh MY!)

I have problems with the load. The battery icon at the bottom left shows 95% available, hip; no charging in progress". The seller sent to the manufacturer for me (at the same time charge me over $ 100!) and when I came back, nothing has been fixed.

I called IBM on the problem and inquired about the keyboard... The pavement WAS available when I bought my pc! So, I thought-lied to me once... I asked what was the 'courage' of my pc. It has 4 GB of memory and is running @ 5 400 rpm.

IBM said it was even not an E530, but an edge of 15...

Lenovo said they have never heard of an edge of 15, that it IS an E530 (this is what is on my invoice)

I asked Lenovo where I can find what is in my SPECIFIC laptop, and they tell me that they cannot help me. I know that I can (and have) entered my pc in 'Computer' and click right, etc... But, I need a print out of the company itself; take either the seller or the Court.

Can someone please give me a link? My ThinkPad type 0319. Of course, I am a computer novice, or I wouldn't have gotten into this situation! It won't happen again. I appreciate any assistance. Thank you very much!

Note of the moderator; s/n, edited for the protection of its own

Edge 15 is not an edge E530. Edge 15 has been replaced by Edge E520, then edge E530. But it is still sold in the market of NA, a spec like you shouldn't cost more than $ 500 (closer to 300 or 400 is better like that) at most.

Only 15 flight attendants had not the keypad, the Edge E520 and E530 times had on the numeric keypad.

You can download a software called HWinfo32 from the web, and it will tell you the exact specification of your machine, i.e. CPU.

The seller is you ripped off as a crook, and the support of IBM technology has no idea what he said.

Here is the official list of specifications of the laptop Edge series:

    http://www.Lenovo.com/PSREF/PDF/edgebook.PDF

Note that the edge 15 would have the first generation I core CPU:

I guess you have to be the next CPU:

    1 i3-380 2.53 ghz

    or

    2 i5-540 2.53 ghz.

Two of these CPUS were used in the on-board computer 15 (they are called Arrandale CPU), Edge E530 use Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge CPU.

  • Type screw to Lenovo Thinkpad S440

    Hello world

One of the screws holding the case on my Thinkpad s440's bit banged up after put an SSD (m2) in my laptop, so I want to buy a few screws to have some spare ones and replace it. The problem is that I have no idea what kind of screw it comes, and I can't find it in the manual of the laptop or the other. The type and size of each screw inside the laptop is in the manual, but nothing on the screws that fix the case. Nobody knows what kind of screws here?

    Thanks in advance.

No one answered, but for those who want to know, I figured out they are screws 4mm M2, they fit perfectly.

  • ThinkPad A30p Type 2653, how much memory can it really take?

My Thinkpad A30p Type 2653 has two memory slots with one of the modules of 512 and 256 installed. I use Windows XP Pro now and see that when using a web browser and scroll up and down to its very slow and moves in small increments. I suspect a memory and you want to add more. The problem is that I get conflicting reports on the memory capacity. Someone told me that I am limited to a total of 1 GB. Someone said that memory today is different than it was when the A30p was manufactured for only 1 GB was max at the time, using memory modules today, I can paste it into two 1 GB modules.

The real story on does anyone know?

    Thank you.

The maximum RAM for A30p is indeed of 1 GB, since

    (a) the chipset limitation is 1 GB

    '

    (b) the largest SODIMM PC133 is 512 MB, as it was at the time when these babies were new.

That said, any A30/p runs XP with 1 GB of RAM if you understand the limits of the machine when it comes to today's software. You can change a little operating system for best performance.

    Good luck.

My X 1 3 Gen with Pro W10 - already updated 1/2 year without problem.

But the system has recently lost the second battery.

Tools like the parameters of Lenovo just show 1 battery (main).

  • Optical drive for IBM Thinkpad R50e, type 1834.

Have been looking for a DVD RW for an IBM Thinkpad R50e drive, type 1834. This has proved to be not easy.

The support page from Lenovo for DVD options for "hard disk, CD-ROM and the options of DVD - ThinkPad R50, R50e, R50p, R51, R51e", located at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-53136, States 'Note: not supported with the ThinkPad R50e systems.» And my model, 1834, is indeed not listed as supported in the "optical drive options.

Why, when I specify the model and the type I have, so a lot of readers not supported those listed and not supported? I'm not interested in optical drives that does not fit. I would like to know who does.

I do not have the old original disk so I can't check the number of parties on the matter. So, what number of coins is the DVD RW drive has that fits the IBM Thinkpad R50e, type 1834?

    Oerjan Pettersen

    one of them will work 92 p 6575 / 13n6827 / 39t 2723 / 39t 2861 it says not supported because it came with the cd-rw/dvd not dvd - rw
