2960 switch configuration for test of dark fiber

Hi guys

IM new in network. We have a dark fiber, tests aside > dark fiber > side (B) to test the fiber link, im using a switch 2960 and configure a vlan - vlan 31 and I assign port 1 to switchport access vlan 31. I'm not sure whether the switch need to configure a default gateway, which is the other tat switch side b. I'm not able to ping to my pc either [port 2/0/1]. the fiber link that connected to the switch's port 2/0/49]

can you help me to check if this configuration is correct?  Here's the running configuration. TX a lot for the help.

SRO-SWITCH-TEST #.

Hey the config looks ok just disappeared locally pointing to the other switch, default gateway as you say

PC must be set with the 192.168.31.250 gateway vlan 31 and have a static ip address in the same range and same subnet

Make sure that your vlan 31 is to the top/top

    Jeff

Thanks for the additional information. When the switches are stacked, they act as a logical switch. Then when you plug with an OFFSET you are basically creating a loop and hook up a switch on himself. Desempilement switches and just use the OFFSET for the interconnection of the switch and you should see the GAL go active.

Have you run wireshark on the server because the request to switch? If so you make sure that there is a response from the server? For Windows network POLICY Server (I've never tried Centos), you must ensure that the request is related to a policy which then authenticates, or denies access. Usually, it is a matter of such attributes and the seller.

Regarding the configuration, it seems a bit out of the AAA. Try to remove the:

line "aaa dot1x group service radius authentication" and this by using instead:

"aaa dot1x default radius authentication group". After the dot1x word you are supposed to provide a list of the authentication or the default Word if you do not want to use a list.

  • Change STP UME in RSTP mode on two stacked powerconnect 6224 configured for iSCSI during normal operation

    Hello

I'll do a fw upgrade during normal operation on a stack of 6224 circulating BPMH, I am currently aware of recommendations Dells run RSTP on switches configured for iSCSI traffic connected to Equallogic SAN.

I intend to set up another pile with two 6224 to failover and then perform the upgrade on the stack of "old." My question is if it's possible to run BPMH on the 'old' stack RSTP executing on the new stack when LAG is configured between the two batteries?

Another option would be if it is possible to reconfigure the 'old' UME to RSTP stack without interruption between the hosts and the SAN first?

Guidance on this subject would be greatly appreciated

    Cree

Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol is based on RSTP and is backward compatible with

RSTP and STP. So, you should be able to run BPMH on the old and RSTP on the new.

  • LACP Configuration for Distributed Switch - vSphere 5.5

I'm trying to set up the switch distributed in a new lab, but I have a question on how to properly configure the port offsets.

If I have a collection of servers, each with two uplinks to a physical switch, how to properly configure the LACP lag? All ports on all of the servers are part of the same GAL, or should I create a different OFFSET for each new host?

    For example:

Lets assume 16 servers. I create a single GAL on the DSwitch, mapping of all physical links 32 rising at the same OFFSET, then replicate the physical switch configuration? Or should I create 16 different gal, one for each pair of uplinks on each host server?

It seems strange to me that I should set up all servers on the same SHIFT, containing the uplinks for different physical host computers.

Aaron, looks like you got it. You can think of the LAG configuration on the switch distributed as a profile of the EEG applied to each host. The physical switch upstream is configured with an OFFSET for each host.

  • IviSwitch loses value when sending, "configure the switch" configuration = TRUE

    Hi all

We are currently assessing Teststand 4.1 with a multimeter keithley 3706 switch system.

After a first enthusiasm, thinking this tool with the meter switch fits perfectly our needs, real life seems difficult.

Between several other problems, we must say to the device, the channel "s1com1" and "s1com2" are strings of configuration.

Configure the teststand step: change the switch step IVI-> IVI, switching, configuration switch: channels "s1com1" Configuration = True

led to observable in both actions in Ni Spy:

    GetAttributeViBoolean (..., "s1com1", _IS_CONFIGURATION_CHANNEL, VI_FALSE)

    SetAttributeViBoolean (..., "s1com1", _IS_CONFIGURATION_CHANNEL, VI_FALSE)

manually call to this function of the interactive a CVI fp class works as expected (the VI_TRUE updated)

Is there any hint that we could do wrong? Currently, we are just before writing wrappers in cvi and jump all the wonderful Types of IVIStep in teststand.

    Looking forward to any comments

    David-

This would have the same problem we discovered recently in our internal tests. For the problem that we found, we will probably include our fix in a next corrective patch. You can check if the problem persists if you change your locale in English in the control panel? If the problem no longer occurs, can you use this as a workaround for now?

  • C240 M3 blocked "memory configuration and test..."

    Hello

This server was returned by just us to Cisco, which had lent because it was new.   We try to return to service, but have encountered the following problem.

At first startup, the server receives as much as 'memory configuration and test..' message.  Just this message, it shows no progress in actually memory test.   After a few seconds it turns off, and then turns upward again, repeat that a few times before sit down you with the "memory configuration and test.." message at the top of the screen, but now also showing the address IP of MMIC inside.   The four led above the power button shows green fixed and switch ID unit than the blue LED power buttons, as they should.

I can get to the MMIC login screen, but the password to the default password so can't get farther in this direction until we discover the new username/password details.  Unless anyone knows how to reset the default MMIC.

I tried the following recovery steps...

    (1) if we set the J2065 ' Clear CMOS' jumper, the server doesn't work.  It powers up to the day before, but does not respond when you press the power button.

    (2) to the "recovery" of the J2068 rider don't seem to have any effect, the server does not read the USB key recovery file.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

I remove the CMOS battery for a while, put back in place, try again and if still nothing... I would look for a motherboard replacement.

  • VSS migration to virtual Distributed Switch configuration

    Hi all

I am trying to wrap my brain around that and just run into a few problems actually make things work. Please bear with me, I will try and describe the environment that I have and what I'm trying to building with like jargin little I can.

My current vmware environment consists of 3 hosts vsphere 4.x and about 6 different subnets. My primary host vSphere is home to the largest part of the virtual machine and manages 5 different subnets connected to each of 5 virtual switches separated with 1 assigned to each NETWORK adapter. Also, there is a switch of kernel VM with a connection to my NetApp iSCSI. The other vSphere hosts are simple enough, the two are connected to subnet 1 with a virtual switch for it and a switch of kernel VM with a connection to the NetApp iSCSI.

Each subnet in my lab is managed/break through the VLANS on Cisco devices, so I saw that it had to assign any settings VLAN since the power of VMware.

If you refer to the VMWare vNetwork Distributed Switch: Migration and vmware Configuration guide, I am trying to migrate a seup similar to this:

    vmware_multiple_vds.JPG

However, I'm running issues when you try to get the int hosts a vDS configuration. I could create a vDS for my root subnet, add one of my hosts vSPhere and migrate the virtual machine to the new port group in this vDS. The Service console as well as the VMKernel remain virtual switches on the host and I can't understand how these migrate to a vDS host without lose the connection.

I'm asssuming based on the number of subnets that I manage between hosts, I'll finish with about a 5-switch vritualDistributed for subnets, each with at least 1 card a vSphere host physical NETWORK link up to the appropriate subnet. In addition to this, I'm assumining I'll need to create a vDS for the Service console and VMKernel (iSCIS) traffic. The Service Console are on the same subnet, some VM most residence on that subnet, separate VSS was created on the hosts to manage separate traffic.

Any help anyone can provide on how to create vDS for SC/vmk traffic and get the associated host migrated to which would be very useful. As I said I was able to create 1 vDS and add a host computer via 1 uplink NIC with the virtual machine, but nothing beyond that seems bad connection.

Feel you please free to ask for additional details, I know it's a lot and maybe a bit confusing. Thank you.

    -Bryan

    Hello

If I'm correct, when the host is added the vDS and the creation of the vDS Service Console, I have to select an unused NIC and migrate the SC existing to the new group of port... or should I add a second SC for the VSS by using a NETWORK card available and who migrate to the new vDS?

Yes, select an unused physical nic so that you have a physical nic connected to the VSS and the other to connect to the uplink of vDS group and migrate the SC. existing if you have several hosts, vMotion all VM and test to see if the migration without distruption, also works to keep details of the ILO ready incase you need to connect to the console of the server.

This is a very good book white http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere-vnetwork-ds-migration-configuration-wp.pdf that provides detailed information about the migration.

    All the best.

    Kind regards
    Arun

    Hello DaDirk,

I'm sorry, but currently there is no Smart Wizard, Smart Control Center and Prosafe Plus utilities available that are compatible with Mac systems.

  • Where can I find instructions for alternative configurations for my time capsule?

I am resident in a House with a router not apple using Uverse.  I just bought a Time Capsule, hoping to use it as a storage drive to backup my imac and mac air.  For the MacAir, I would be like it is able with time Capsule wireless backup, and depending on how I can configure the system, connect the imac directly to the TimeCapsule or wireless connection.

What I can't do connect the Capsule of time with an ethernet cable to the router not apple, that is in a different room than my desktop.  I have permission to use the internet service provided by the non-apple router - so right now, I don't have time Capsule to provide internet access in itself - as long as it can enable to backup wireless option at least for my mac air.

    Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, you're stuck in the middle of a router that is not apple and an Apple router without ethernet... and therefore no way to connect.

What you need is a wireless bridge (wireless to ethernet bridge if you want that it is more accurate).

Wireless bridges are pretty cheap... Look at TP-Link, because a lot of their wireless access points will make wireless bridge...

Or you can purchase an airport express... It's the only apple router which allows the wireless bridge. However, it is more than twice the price of an equivalent of non-apple.

With the bridge... you plug in ethernet on the TC and run the TC in bridge (it is the router bridge)... your clients can then connect to the TC directly and the two backup and get internet at the same time... otherwise you can do it in the order...

That is, you can plug the TC to the iMac by ethernet. It's a bit complicated, but I've given instructions here. Then you have wireless internet and backup on ethernet... It is indeed the best configuration for the imac.

Time Capsule using wired for Mac for backup only.

What you can't do, is use wireless for internet and backup at the same time... you will need to do one and then sometimes switch for the wireless of TC to run a backup... not a great idea.

  • How to remove/output port for test stand VI

OK - it's probably something stupid, but I can't really find a basic example to understand what the problem is.

I just want to create a testbed VI, which in adition to the IO base, use additional IOs for the configuration, for example. Here is what I do

    1. create a new VI of pass/fail test bench

2 - LabVIEW start by itself, showing my VI

3 - I put a 'No' logical basis and connect the entrance to logic

    4 - save

5 reload the Prototype in TS, and here my new fact of entry does not show.

I don't think I can do this simple step. Could someone explain what is the problem here.

When you create a VI, the indicator are most certainly wired to the component connector - just like your example. Perhaps you should study the manual "with the help of LabVIEW with TestStand. The connector component is covered in LabVIEW basics and perhaps you should take this tutorial. Allen said you twice that you did not have the new wired indicator. You do not have that. Do this simple operation.

  • LAPN300 - the best configuration for 3 access points, while using the same SSID

    Hi all

What is the best configuration for 3 x LAPN300 located in various places around my house of 3 floors, access points if I want just one SSID?

I did some initial research which suggests that I can use the same SSID on all three, as long as they are on different channels. 1, 6 and 11 for example. In theory, then, as I wander around the House the client machine must auto swap to the AP with the signal stronger.

What do you think? What is the best way or do, or could suggest you something else?

As an aside... If I decided to create a second SSID for the guests at home, I would also want to add wireless isolation to this SSID. How would that be managing the DHCP server on the local network? How would be asked to connect to the SSID has never get an IP if they have been isolated from other clients on the local network?  Besides, how they see the router? The ANNUAL lets you specify exceptions to this isolation for this feature?  Alternatively, as I suspect, is the right isolation feature isolate them from other WLAN, not the LAN clients customers?

I did some testing and configuration of the AP with the same SSID and security will do what you want. Don't worry about setting the channel because the auto channel setting works with these devices and automatically adjusts the spacing between the appropriate channels.

Recommendation of the VPN_user is what you need if you want to isolate the SSID comments from the rest of your network clients.

Isolation of SSID of the AP will guard only wireless devices to communicate with each other on the same SSID on which it is enabled.

  • Configuration for E4200 suggestions

I just bought a refurbed E4200 and run the configuration wizard.  It works fine but I know there are always better configurations and settings.

I'm out of the static IP for my devices, but don't know enough about this router beyond that.

I have an XBOX with XBOX LIVE, PS3 PlayStation Network, but also a gaming PC.  They are all wired.

Wireless, we have a few desktop computers and laptops.

My previous router was a D - Link DGL 4500 and it was a great router, but has not had the MIMO or punch wireless that it is.  I really like this E4200.  Anyway, the DGL4500 forum was the best stickies, I have ever seen regarding the configuration for the games.  Does anyone know of another forum that may have a similar one sticky for configuration or can someone suggest what works for them?

"Tweaks" are generally to solve gambling problems. I don't really think tweaking everything that would make a real difference for you. Just don't use Qos on the router again because it does not correctly detect the speed upload and Linksys leans on this.

If you have a DSL modem, then put it in Bridge mode and use the PPPoE rather than DHCP in the router Web page. If you have cable or fiber then I would think UPnP would be the only thing needed to enjoy the game smoothly.

If you are having problems then that is when port forwarding/triggering, dmz, etc. come into play. Another that I have not really seen all the articles on how to optimize the gameplay. Having enough bandwidth in combination with low jitter and latency is what counts. Maybe when they solve Qos problem, then you can try it if you have problems of upstream bandwidth.

Also make sure you have the latest firmware. Here (v1.0.02). I was checking the Dlink forums and all they did was open (done automatically UPnP) ports and prioritize the traffic (Qos). But as I said, do not use until Linksys Qos solves the problem because it will considerably cut down your download speed.

  • How can I remove guest account configured for the administrator?

I tried to add a second user account on my computer and I blew it. My main user account is now defined as a standard account and no matter how many times I click the button to set it as an administrator account that he will not save these settings. The guest account (which I want to delete) is defined as an administrator account and it wont let me save it as a standard account, because there is no other administrator accounts. Even when I try to create a new account just to see what he would do he tells me that he cannot accept some of the characters that I use for the name of the account, even if it's just 5 letters, so I can't even create the new account.

I have no idea what's going on with my user settings, but I want to just that everything back to how it was before... with a single main account configured for the administrator.

    Can someone help me?

I bet that your administrator account is an admin account and your guest account is a regular account. Buttons that you look at don't tell you the State of the special consideration, but the change that you can apply. In other words, looking at the administrator account, the 'Administrator' button is highlighted not because it's already an admin account!

Now you should do this, in the following order:
    1. Create a CD to repair Windows via Control Panel / backup and restore. People like you who make their own PC maintenance need.
    2. Test the CD.
    3. Create, test, and document an admin account to spare, even you have a spare House key.
    4. Disable the guest account.
  • C210 M2 hangs at "hardware platform, configuration and test".

    Hello

We did a MMIC and update the BIOS on one of our servers to the latest version. System tells us that everything went well and the logging in the BIOS also worked well.

The confusing thing is, even if the BIOS itself showed the correct version, the Webgui interface shows the old one.

After leaving the BIOS screen and restarting the server twice for the installation of the OS, it now crashes after "memory test" to the 'config '. and test. step of the hardware platform.

Even trying to perform a recovery of the BIOS translates into find resumed his success after a few seconds and then (scope of the BIOS / show details in CLI changes status of recovery of the BIOS called "None") stops.

We´ve deleted each addtl. material such as PCI-card expansion and key USB system, cannot find error messages or stuff like that, we have simply wants this configuration and test step.

has anyone seen similar behavior or idea how to move forward here?

    Rgds.

    Markus
