  There is no evaluation or trial version! What you download is a normal version of GA fully functional and is no different then if you bought it and using a serial number which never expires or simply by using a serial number which will expire in 30 days.

  We are installing our ESX environment. A total of 20 ESX servers on both sites. We have hired a consulting firm to help us with the design and implementation of the portions as well regarding cross training purpuses. I took the course of Fasttrak VM and have passed my VCP.

  Now we have a second firm that wants to "certify VMware" our design and install it. I think what they aer full of it... But is it fair to make sure such a thing of VMware Certified Installation or design or anything remotely close to this?

• VMware Fusion keeps resetting my network file

  I'm trying to set up a Windows Server VM and allow access to external computers through RDP/DRC. To enable port forwarding, I added the following text to the end of my "/ Library/Preferences/VMWare Fusion/network" file (addresses changed because I'm paranoid that way):

  The problem is that every time I restart VMWare Fusion, my network file returns to its previous state, and my updated the file is stored in networking.bak.0.

  If it helps: I'm under VMWaare Fusion 7.1.2. Network of my VM is set to NAT (alias "share with my MAC"). My virtual computer is configured with a static IP, the same, I added in the network file. I tested DRC between host and the VM and it works fine, I just need to enable access by other computers on the same network.

  I know it's lame to answer my own question, but I just realized what was wrong. Apparently, I got some wrong information about the Internet, and I should have added the text in the file nat.conf instead of the network file.

• VMware Workstation 7.1.5 network affecting same subnet on vmnets

  Hi all

  I've been on a training course and all the laboratories were VM.  I'm trying to re-create the configuration they had, and I hit a problem.  Look at the photos attached and you will see the setting they had.  Basically, they had set the same subnet on vmnet2 and for vmnet3.  They were running VMware workstation on Windows 7 64 bit 7.1.4.  I am running VMware workstation on Windows 7 64 bit 7.1.5.

  When I try and re-create VMnet2 and for VMnet3, I get an error message saying how they have the same subnet and I need to change it.  How did do?

  inside the virtual network editor set as desired vmnet2 and go with the default - or any value for vmnet3
  Close the virtual network Editor
  Open a cmd as administrator
  CD for the installation of workstation directory

  run the cmd

  start/wait vnetlib.exe - stop dhcp

  start/wait vnetlib.exe - set vnet vmnet3 addr 192.168.10.0

  start/wait vnetlib.exe - start dhcp

  Hi all

  I try to get the VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi 4.1) operational on the following server:

  • Supermicro X8SIL-F mainboard

  • Core i3 - 530 CPU

  • 8 GB of DDR3 memory

  It has a dedicated IPMI LAN port and 2 x Intel 82574 L Gigabit Ethernet Controller, which is supported according to the compatibility list.

  After installation of the hypervisor, everything seems to go well at first. I could migrate one of my virtual machines (Windows 2000) of the current VMvare Server 2.0.2 to the new platform and it starts normally.

  But if I start to transfer data through the network of the virtual machine (i.e. copy a tree of directories with lots of pictures), the ethernet connection works completely after some time. Virtual machine, nor the management console is accessible from the network (ping) and alsono of the local management console connection to the outside world is possible (i.e. ping to another server).

  Interestingly, this "ethtool vmnic0" outputs "link detected: Yes" front and "detected link: no ' after the loss of the network connection.

  The driver used is ("ethtool-i vmnic0" output):

  pilot: e1000e

  version: 0.4.1.7.1 - 1vmw-NAPI

  firmware version: 1, 9-0

  bus-info: 0000:02:00.0

  I already found this thread: http://communities.VMware.com/thread/256853 , but even the IntMode = 0, 0, 0, 0 settingdid not help.

  Is there anything else that I have jerk to try to solve this problem? Can I somehow use original Intel driver (unfortunately, I can't compile the source for x86_64 myself).

  Go into the BIOS and disable Active State Power Management, and it should be fixed.  These cards do not work with this setting enabled under something other than Windows 7/2008 R2 and RHEL/CentOS 5.

  You can get the installed Workstation and work on it. Or you can download the evaluation version of vSphere and practice at HOME. I don't think that there is no such virtual lab online.

  Hey John,

  If you want to network from the Windows VM to your Macbook Pro with the PC you have, you must set the network card of the VM in bridged mode.  You can do this by going to settings > network. This will allow networking between your virtual machine and the PC.
