4.0U2 > 4.1 server migration issue

I'm currently experimenting with a VC 4.0u2 & gt; 4.1 migration. I install a new Windows 2008R2 host for the VC and have run the migration tool on the old Victoria Cross, and then again on the new VC to import the configuration. I'm a little confused as to what to do once the migration is completed successfully... I disconnect the old VC, withdraw the AD and then set the parameters of the new Victoria Cross to the former (IP address, host name)? I leave the IP and hostname as new entities and then edit info on the ESX servers and within the view? Which is better?

Thanks in advance.

  • MSE 8510 TelePresence Server Migration - Issue of license

I am following the process of conversion to a MCU 8510 into a server TS 8710.

I ordered and received the migration SKU 0-dollar and have the code PAK

    Part number of top-level

L-8000-CHLIC-PAK MSE 8000 chassis Licenses PAK PIDs

    Option part number
L-8000-TSMO telepresence screen Option Migration, order L-8000-CHLIC-PAK

Key question: will be recorded against this pak:

    1. The SN # MSE 8050 supervisor blade
    2. The SN # MSE chassis
    3. The SN # 8510 blade to be converted.

There are good docs on the conversion process of loading software and the process.

But nothing that I could find references exactly what SN # to use when registering the PAK for this process.

The option TSMO key will apply to the MSE 8000 chassis.

You are right, that the document is not clear where to apply, but it is also mentioned (very badly) on pg 12, in the section reference to the function keys.

  • DTA migration issues

In order to gain visibility for DTA migration issues I've mentioned several times in other threads, I thought I would post a new thread and kick off the coast with two of my favorites:

Events of 'no time' 1) recurring are moved to the previous day.  If you look in the .mdb (Microsoft Access) data tables, created by the new Palm Desktop 6.2.2 you will see that these events are stored in GMT, instead of any time you have set.  If you're at (for example) EST/EDT, then a "free time" event in GMT will begin the day previous (GMT 5/4 hours located prior to the EST/EDT).  Palm Desktop 6.2.2 these events appears correctly (maybe corrected 'on the fly' for a few screws previously known upward in previous versions from the Palm Desktop or Palm devices stored these events), but during the migration to the front via DTA, they appear the previous day.

    (2) recurring events which were to "12 months" (instance, father's day, which is the 3rd Sunday of June, is set up by placing the event initial OK Sunday of June and then by setting the recurrence for "3rd Sunday of each month 12") are changed during migration via DTA the Pre, reproduce every month.

These are both very reproducible and took place during three separate migrations of DTA.  The Calendar database have been verified by the latest version of DbFixIt and found no problem. The Treo 700 p and Palm Desktop 4.1.4 and now 6.2.2 display them correctly.  Only the Pre after migration DTA shows these questions.  The Pre is runnning WebOS 1.0.4 and is configured to only use the Palm profile for the backup.

I'm ready to ask for a SOLUTION to these two questions, with these workaround solutions:

    (1) to prevent the traffic events "without time" days prior (for those of you at the time of the zones West of GMT/UTC) Please make sure that your pre got your time zone local network, or if not, that you set your time zone manually to match that of your host, before migrating to the DTA.

    (2) If you have each year (in fact any interval of more than 9 'days', 'weeks', 'months', or 'years') "byday" (e.g., 3rd Sunday of June) or events (e.g., May 13) "bymonthday", you will need to:

    (a) after the execution of DTA 1.1, and before unplugging the USB before, open a window File Explorer and move the file migration.mig from PRE USB key to your computer.  After that, you can leave the pre connected or not, depending on your needs.  As long as the migration file is not in the USB when the Pre is disconnected, it does not start a data migration.

    (b) using a suitable text editor (for example, Wordpad on Windows), do a find on (for example) "FREQ = MONTHLY; INTERVAL = 1"(without the quotes).  Inspect the field 'SUMMARY' current record "VCALENDAR" to determine if this is really a monthly event or (for example) "byday" or "bymonthday".  If the latter, change the 'INTERVAL = 1' clause' RANGE = 12' (or whatever the actual range is supposed to be.  Repetition of finding suspicious items until you are satisfied you have found and fixed all.

    (c) save the modified file.  Check the file name to ensure that Windows has not renamed it "migration.mig.txt".  If so, rename it to "migration.mig".

    (d) If you had unplugged the meadow at the end of step one), he re - connect as a USB and copy the file "migration.mig" forwards, in the root of the USB stick.  When you do a "safely removing" pre, it will find the migration.mig file and start the migration.  With WebOS 1.1, the pre now entertains you with a progress indicator.  This is actually very useful, because if you connect the Pre to as a USB key before the migration is complete, it will start a 2nd an and start in double filling your calendar, etc.  So be patient and wait until the migration is completed before making any transfer files USB with the Pre.

This procedure should be performed with the DTA 1.1 (or a later version, if later versions don't fix this issue) and WebOS 1.1 (which seems to have solved the calendar gray/frozen screens that had suffered me since the day 1 of pre availability (06/06/09 in the United States).) Please note that this is a problem with the program of the DTA, not WebOS, so it cannot be solved with a future WebOS update (Garbage In, Garbage Out or GIGO as say the).  Please note that I am not synchronized with any service, but use the Palm profile as backup.

Now that I feel I have a pretty good handle on getting a solid migration of DTA, I'll probably then address a Google account instead of the Palm profile synchronization and see what falls from that.

Thank you, PDAGuy and Anachronistic, for all your help.

EDIT: I found a new failure in the timing of the front.  I'll start a new thread, so we can more easily track it separately.

  • Cold of Vcenter server migration

We change architechtures CPU from AMD to Intel.

I moved all my virtual machines with the exception of the server that is running VirtualCenter 5.01.

The database is on the machine as well.

    My plan is to:

    1. stop the server

    2. attach to the host, it's on with Vcenter client and remove from the inventory.

    3. using the Vcenter client attached to a host in the cluster I want to move to and save it on the host computer.

4 cross my fingers and the power on the virtual machine.

I fear that the center of V server will be confused when it starts on a different host and cluster

All the world did this with success?

Don't anticipate any issues... it's one of the benefits of virtualization, because virtual machines are encapsulated in a set of files, they can be easily imported/exported on any standard x 86 architectures. Although an essential part of the management of vSphere, vCenter it wouldn't hurt to keep a clone backup of it on the existing (just in case) host. Post migration you may be prompted with a uuid warning message, take a look at the below URL for the explanation:

  • MS Windows Server Migration - physical to virtual with no. P2V

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could provide some ideas on the following situation we run into:

We have a file server Windows Server 2003 physical we want to virtualize.

Initially we wanted to P2V server and storage and create a vmdk for the server (drive C :) and a different vmdk for his (D: drive which is storage).)

We are now thinking about the possibility to create a new VM server with a clean install of Windows 2008 R2 and then copy the data to the SAN and present the LUN as RDM on the new VM server.

    I have the following questions/issues:

1.) as I said before that we do not perform a P2V instead, we want to create a new server VM W2k8 bearing the same name, IP etc... If at some point we can move (the VM server will be in a network isolated so far is ready) however how put us all the actions of the physical server to the new virtual machine?

Could we use Robocopy to do this? I was thinking something like...

Run a full backup with robocopy co-location W2k3 server to the new server VM that there be a drive D: created and presented by RDM (LUN). But it will not work because the server must be in an isolated network and it must have the same name, etc...

2.) this will be one of the main file server in the company, I've heard that putting the data on LUN and preseting using RDM will increase the IO? Is this real?

Somone to share some ideas on how to handle this type of migration?

You can copy the part of the register which holds all the shares from one server to the other.

Could we use Robocopy to do this? I was thinking something like...

You can synchronize the folders with robocopy.

The e/s? Of course, you will see the traffic passing records and their path to the San.

  • How to clean of the Mac server permissions issue

I'll have some very frustrating problems with permissions in the Group shared on mac server folders. When I create a new set of permissions at the top of the folder hierarchy and spread so it seems just create another copy permissions in all folders under the root rather than deleting the previous permissions and write those I want to set up. In other words, I end up with several sets of permissions by user for each folder and file.

So the question I'm asking is how to clean all these permissions to all folders and files and start again?

The main issues I'm having, it's that I have even with full administrative rights'm get denied permission to open files and save them to the server.

My server is running OS X El Capitan 10.11.4, version 5.1 Server mac

The simplest (and usually faster) is to clean up you permissions to use the chmod of the Terminal command.  If your ACL multiply in an uncontrolled manner (please not that some versions of Office for Windows, used to cause this) you can quickly delete all the ACL, and then start again.  To do this, follow these steps:

1: stop all services of files to ensure that no one is change data while you work on it.

2: remove all ACLs by using this command (replace with the actual path to the data):

    sudo chmod-r n/path/to/your/share

This will remove all the ACLs for all files and folders/path/to/your/share and recurse to everything in the folder.

Now, if you think that your POSIX permissions are Leech, you can also reset this with two orders of the handle.  To restore all standard directories umask, use:

    sudo find/path/to/your/share-type d - exec chmod 755 ().

To restore all files standard umask, use:

    sudo find/path/to/your/share-type f-exec chmod 644 ().

Note: Your permissions model may be more restrictive and some workflows rely on the limitation by POSIX.  If so, these commands do not be what you want.

And there you have it.  The three commands above can remove all ACLs and set all folders to 755 (drwxr-xr-x) and all files to 644 (- rw - r - r-).

Once you reset data, return to Server.app > sharing or.app > server > storage and assign your permissions.

  • Server Migration from 2003 to 2012

    I have a client with 2 servers

    Server A - old Server 2003 Std x 86 role DC hardware

Server B - DC Server 2003 Std x 86, Exchange 2003 Std material more recent roles.

  • Exchange Server Migration 2000/2003, unity 4.0 (1) (4)

We are running Exchange 2000 in an advertisement in 2000 with the 4.0 unit (1).

Due to some problems with our current Exchange Server, we need to accelerate our migration to Exchange 2003.

We will be upgrading the schema AD 2003 this week, and planned to upgrade Exchange this weekend. I know this will have a direct impact on the unit even after reading the documents to upgrade, I'm not 100% sure to get a grip on that everything must be done to make this a smooth transition.

How the migration will work, we will build a new Exchange 2003 server in the same organization, and then move the mailboxes to that server. We then decomission existing exchange server and build another with his namesake and IP address as a Server 2003 and migrate all the mailboxes back, permanently.

With this double-move in mind, does anyone have any advice, suggestions or traps to help us?

    Thanks in advance.

    Brian

Running Exchange 2003 ForestPrep causes a REFUSAL of ACE appear in each administrative group for the Exchange domain servers group on the 'Servers' container. Assuming that you are using the security model, the permissions wizard puts in place where the unit connects with a domain account that is not in the Exchange domain servers group, you should be fine. But I very well many customers choose to use a method of security home brew or put users in a bunch of unnecessary groups. So as have done you that ForestPrep does not grief of the unit.

Unity 4.0 (3) and later supports Exchange 2003. So I would upgrade to 4.0 (4) of the unit before moving to Exchange 2003. Once you're at 4.0 (4) you just need to upgrade to Exchange 2003 Exchange System Manager and run the latest version of the permissions wizard if you plan to run Exchange 2003 with SP1. You can download that here:

    http://www.ciscounitytools.com/App_PW_403.htm

When you bring the new tipping online server, you must re-run the Configuration Cisco Unity Message Store of add/remove programs and let the unit move the Unity_servername mailbox by choosing a new partner server. You can t just move the mailbox without the cause of the layout of the store Message what unit won t know where to find. Same thing for the what swing you on the new Exchange 2003 server.

    Thank you

  • DIRT of the Server Migration

I'm going to migrate to a MCS unity UM 4.0 Server (4) (store off message box) ICS Server Blade. Can I use the same name and the IP Address of the new server? Procedure would be as follows:

    Dirt to backup existing server

    Stop existing server

Associate the new server in the domain

    install Ex2K Admin

    Install the unit

    Restoration of dirt.

Is this likely to be more complex/risky process that restoring to a server with a different name and the INVESTIGATION period. All the steps I have to add in?

    Thank you

    Chris

The process seems good. The dirt does not care if the name or the IP address changed or hnot. As long as you do not have another machine on the network with the same name/IP you should be fine. Just note that AD will make you remove the first machine, before adding the new using the same name.

    Thank you

  • Content server - migration MediaSense

    Hi all

I am currently migrating my gateway TMS\VCS to CUCM telepresence end points.

My Tandberg Content Server just died and I already have 2 support detection servers deployed.

The question is: detection of support will eventually replace Content Server?

The current feature support detection seems really limited compared to the content server, but I don't need a lot more - just to be able to save and export the video.

Is what someone running CUCM + TMS and use record support for multi detection video conferences with channel content?

    Thank you.

6.2 to CHT's already out earlier this year and available now.  The migration is pretty cheap, on the top of my head, something like less than $5 k per server is what we paid.

  • EXCHANGE SERVER MIGRATION PROBLEM

Users were migrated to an older exchange server, less stable, to a new through the usual advertising------change of method of moving users from one server to another.

The old server is still in place and active.

When it breaks down, the UNIT is unable to deliver messages to subscribers.

Do I have to re - run exchange on the unit configuration wizard to define the new server as the main? Otherwise, any ideas why the old server to be up? What is the workaround-difficulty?

Moreover, this most recent server will be upgraded to EX2K3 in the coming months. What needs to be done to the unit to perform this update (I'm looking for a link to the PDF here)

  • Default security when tio UCS server migration

    Hello

I am running Call Manager 8.5.1 on a stand-alone server of MCS 7825. I intend to migrate this to a server of the UCS. I have saved the current server through disater recovery process and successfully on the new UCS Server restored. My question is when I move the phones the new server, they will be able to join him (the host name/IP address is the same as the old server)? Or default security will prevent phones from recording. My feeling is that security by default config migrate through when I restore via the disater recovery process. Did someone done this before. I have no way to test until I do the migration.
