Yes, if the computer has at least 2 GB of RAM and you improve first to 10.6.8.

Poster for the first time. Fortunately, my seven-year Macbook rarely has problems. However, now, I fear the worst.

My battery will not charge. If I plug the charger in, I get no green light. He used to turn on intermittently, but now nothing. I tried to reset the SMC, but in vain. I still don't know if it's a problem with the battery, the charger or the port. The battery is non-official replacement material. I pasted the relevant details of 'about this Mac' below.

  • Apple still has a spare battery for Macbook late 2008 13 "aluminum unibody? My battery status shows the service battery. I have reset the alert status about 6 months ago, but he will not be reset again. Thinking I need a new battery Apple

My battery status shows the service battery. I have reset the alert status about 6 months ago, but he will not be reset again. Thinking I need a new battery Apple!

Batteries are no longer available on the Apple online store but can be at your nearest Apple Retail Store, you must check with your store. A better option is probably buy one yourself and replace it. Buy a quality like this http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/apple_laptop/batteries/MacBook_13_Unibody battery

Avoid imitations cheap as those who are sold on auction sites.

  • I can transplant my early 2011 2.7 GHz 13 "MacBook Pro hard drive into my late 2008 MacBook 5.1?

The battery on my early 2011 2.7 GHz 13 '' MacBook Pro just exploded, almost destroying the machine. As I need to replace the battery and the trackpad, I guess that's maybe a good time to upgrade to an SSD, leaving me with the old 500 GB 5400 RPM hard drive Serial ATA to play with. This hd currently has Yosemite and all my essential programs installed on it. I also saved it on an external drive via Time Machine.

Meanwhile, I have a MacBook late 2008 5.1 I want to migrate everything to, however the HD is only 320 GB, resulting in errors when trying to make an update of Time Machine.

Can I pop the hard drive of the 2011 MBP in my MacBook late 2008 5.1? Is the material compatible? The OS sees it's a different system at startup and make the necessary adjustments (No firewire, there less RAM, etc.)?

If not, how can I move my Applications without moving on the entire hard drive? Or could I format the hard drive to 500 GB and then run the Time Machine backup? It would even work?

A lot of variables here. Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you!

I forgot to mention that the MacBook 5.1 is 2.4 GHz.

  • MacBook Pro 15 "Core 2 Duo (early 2008) - El Capitan Performance

Guys, so my computer was stolen a few days ago and I need to buy a replacement.
Unfortunately all this has happened in the worst time for me, so I have to buy something extremely budget.

I found a Unicorn. Pre-unibody MB Pro 15 "Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz with 4 GB of ram and GeForce 8600 in a State absolutely perfect (with literally nine original battery) for next to nothing. (alias a want of the friend of the family to sell it to me for a hundred dollars.)
I have a spare SSD, the plan is to use it and maybe, after a few tests, replace a chip memory 2GB 4 GB.

But let's assume that for now he stays with 4 gigs.

I need it mainly for use at home or in the office, I don't need a benefit 'video editing '.

Any of you still use this kind of mac and could tell me how it behaves with El Capitan?
Is a normal use, every day a huge pain?

    Thanks in advance,

    see you soon,

    Adam

I run it on a late 2008 2.53 Ghz core 2 duo and it isn't bad (althouhg I have a new retina 15 "machine to come next week, but it's just because it was time to buy something new after 8 years and the 15" material current is good for me - I really worry about the next update will go to the MacBook style keyboard which is clearly less IMO to the current keyboard Pro retina).

My end 2008 15 "has 8 GB of RAM but (OWC 4 GB SODIMM) .and I replaced the 320 GB 5400 RPM drive with an OWC 480 GB SSD drive. But even before the update level HD, the most notable decline in performance was the start. Once the system is up and running basics like Pages, Numbers, and others were very good, and I use Office 2016 and Endnote X 7 on mine as well without problem (work Office 365 uses, so I use one of my 5 installed on my Mac).  You will notice that the programs are a little slow to start, but once upward, they work fine as long as you're not too heavy on any multitasking of programs.

But I do not think that battery will be worth squat. There is no such thing as a "brand new original" of 8-9 years lithium battery. They begin at the point where they are assembled in decomposition and generation of the lithium battery will die in 3-4 years if used or rest.  There is no way that a battery lithium 8 years and more is going to be interesting to Courland longer. OWC sell replacements well and I have used several of their Epsonexpression batteries in my end of 2008 to replace machine as my batteries have worn for the duration of my machine.

I'd say it should be functional. OWC lists a 6 GB RAM upgrade for the machine too, and it would certainly help if you can afford it, stick an SSD in it would stimulate it too much. These two upgrades would be ~ $300 if, but if it gives you a working machine until you are ready for a current model, it might be useful.

As an alternative, have you looked at online Apple store refurb?  They have a few refurb MacBook Air was ~ $ 800. Just a thought, if your budget allows.

I have a MacBook Pro 17 withProcessor - in 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (circa 2007).  Running OS 10.7.5 (Lion).  System indicates the computer is not compatible with OS later.  Hardware can be upgraded to the latest processors and other components to make it compatible with the latest OS.  I think that later models of Macbook Pro 17-inch with processors that allow updates.  I was wondering if these can be swapped or if alternatives were available.

Only the RAM and storage (HD, SSD) can be changed.  Everything is welded to the map logical and selected specially for the system configuration.

    I'm sorry.

  • Is it possible to install CS5 or CS5.5 on a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM MacBook

Is it possible to install CS5 or CS5.5 on a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM MacBook Pro 10.6 (Snow Leopard) running?

Before posting my question, I checked the requirements of system/hardware for Creative Suite, as well on Internet Apple and Adobe sites. But however I'm confused about the difference between 'Processor Intel multicore' vs 'Core 2 Duo' and hearing stories CS5 works not properly in similar situations because of hardware problems.

    Hi LMDV,

    Welcome to the community!

Intel multi-core processor, also known as the Dual core processor is required to run the CS5 or CS5.5, you have the Core 2 Duo which is better then Dual core and enough to run CS5 and CS5.5 applications. You just need to check the other requirements of system that is mentioned here:

    • Mac OS X 10.6.8 Combo Update v1.1 - this update to download full 10.6.

to get in the App Store for some applications; but not the most recent.

    {It can could be upgraded to another entirely new OS X as described below...}

Snow Leopard 10.6.8 must be completely installed before considering another

upgrade, that costs but has also no installation disc media. 10.7.5 lion.

This model can not be upgraded to the latest OS X but could not only

The computer you can be also (if not already installed) capable

use an update of the firmware MacBook EFI Firmware Update 1.2

Apple - Support - downloads - EFI firmware updates...

Some older applications will not make the transition to Snow Leopard

for later versions of OS X, as support for some those has been truncated.

Several former MacBook core2duo users, found better Snow Leopard

that Lion 10.7.5. However if you have a new iPhone or other devices

    a later iTunes and other applications can allow to sync from Mac to them;

where Snow Leopard 10.6.8 could not. So he invites further research.

    Hope this helps a little...

    Good luck in this case!

I have mi MBP of 2009 running on 10.6.8 with 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M 256 MB graphics card. I use my macbook for use daily and work (especially PS, I, AE) I've not updated because it worked without problem (some blame here and there but bearable), the only problem I have is I have too many apps/plugins obsolete now. IM really nervous day too, because I fear that it does not also fluid is used to be should I update to el capitan?

Hello! If you are using special software (Photoshop, etc.) I don't think it's a good idea to upgrade.

However, it you use your computer for Web browsing, watching movies, editing documents, etc. and if you want to use the new features introduced in OS X Yosemite and OS X El Capitan, upgrade is a good option. Below you will find some further reading on the subject.
