  • Future of the Android Runtime

    Hello

I work as a developer of Android apps and my boss received the device BlackBerry 10 Alpha.

So I played a little with it and successfully port 2 simple Android applications in the BlackBerry 10 Alpha.

But when I tried to port of our largest app, it fails to run. I can only assume since BB10 is still in alpha, not all APIs are still supported.

So, I have a few questions.

    1. What is the future of the Android Runtime?

    2. I heard the rumor that you guys plan to abandon the Android Runtime support in the future. Can you guys confirm?

    3. If you guys plan continue Runtime Android, when you guys will add support for Android 4.0 (API 14) and above?

Thank you very much for your time.

There is no plan to abandon support for the execution of BlackBerry for Android applications

We are always evaluating what future features and API that we'll add to the Runtime. Things like the NFC, Bluetooth, etc. It is a matter of priority, time and effort. We have a roadmap for the main features posted here: http://developer.blackberry.com/android/tools/roadmap/ then as new APIs and support is expected, we will not fail to update the roadamp.

As for the future, we assess now what next Android OS we will provide support to. So don't worry, we do not expect to stay on Ginderbread 2.3.3 forever.

    See you soon

  • BlackBerry 10 Question about email and android runtime

    Greetings,

Just, I got my new Z10 and have a few questions.

    1. is it possible to email to send in plain text by default? I see that I can select email but don't want to accidentally send a html email or I will never hear the end of it.

    2. I was wondering if it is possible to disable the android runtime, and how do we know if an application in the BlackBerry world runs on it?

Edit: going to throw one over there:

    3. I see I can transfer files via WiFi and SMB, since I have my device and the SD card, encrypted, if I transfer files (I use smbclient from samba) are my files encrypted on the fly?

    Thanks for any help,

    Brian

Yes, Built for BlackBerry means it's a native app for BB. Here is some info:

    https://developer.BlackBerry.com/builtforblackberry/documentation/overview.html

The runtime executes in its own shell protected so he can do no damage to the device, but if you don't use a lot of apps, it should not be a problem. Keep in mind that some apps don't come that android ports so you will be somewhat limited.

  • WiFi Direct in Android runtime

    Hello

Now that BBOS10.2 supports direct WiFi, are there any plans in direct support of Wifi in the Android runtime? What is the timetable for this?

    ~ M Shea.

Thanks for the update. I assumed that it is more likely that direct Wifi is added to execution, that Fuji porting the app to BB10.

If they were to make a non-native port (like Skype) they would have direct access to Wifi?

  • Push Service on Android Runtime?

Hi, I thought the SDK went gold and push service listed on there. I would like to ask a few question here:

1 develops the supported push on android runtime service now?  But I find no example for her...

    2. can I test in the BB Dev Alpha device?

is there any help here? Thank you...

    Hello

Yes, PUSH is supported by the Android Runtime. In fact, it has been argued since the Beta 4

Details can be found here: http://developer.blackberry.com/android/apisupport/creating_push-enabled_android_apps.html

  • ADF Mobile: Error when accessing the app from the Android emulator

I am trying to build a mobile app ADF with JDeveloper (11.1.2.4.0) and its extension ADF Mobile Framework (11.1.2.4.39.64.69). The version of the Android API is 23 and the SDK build tools and platform version 20.

I built the app and the deployment of the android emulator has been a success, but when I try to access the application on the emulator, it throws an error indicating that the application has stopped working.

When I check logcat he showed the exception stack trace below that throws an UnsupportedOperationException

    Hi SayantanSinha,

If you look under API supported levels, the maximum is 19 API.  I can't speak for the ADF 11.1.2 but the lines of code in the (more recent) MAF, who have a similar support matrix, we have noted problems with the API 20.

You can download older versions of the API of the Manager of Android SDK tool.  Remember to update your EPCO or JDev SDK configuration with the version that you want to use once it is installed.

  • How can I change the Version Code in Flash Android from the Android market app settings?

I recently tried to update my app on the Android app market and when I downloaded it I got the following message:

"News of the apk (1000000) VersionCode already exists."

In Flash Adnroid settings I changed the version label, but that did not help.

    So I have two questions:

    1. How can I change the Version code in Flash Android settings? I changed the version number and the version label, but it does not work.
    2. What is the difference between the version number and version label?

    1.1.0

That should fix it, you must download the wrong file. I got this error before, by simply changing the flash version number and reexporting solves the problem. Flash can sometimes reroute your destination the exit .apk file folder, when your double apk download check that it has been created when you think it is, best way to do so is to publish and then transfer it, and after download be sure that it has been created a minute ago or so not on 30 March. Also try without the version label, it would be in conflict with something.

  • The android app icon is smaller than the native applications on Dev Alpha

It is somehow related to http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Android-Runtime-Development/apk2bar-resizes-the-app-icon-to-8...

However, even if I have difficulty icon resized, changing the bar produce and pack a 150 x 150 icon, on DevAlpha (10.0.9.388) the icon looks like smaller than the icon of a native application (if WebWorks or Cascades). I also used the setting - os to target only the BB 10 but without results.

Is there something that I need to specify the apk2bar command?

    Thanks for your help.

This has been fixed in DevAlpha 10.0.9.1103.

I recently got a new computer with Windows 8. I was able to switch back very well between Internet Explorer 10 on my desk and the metro app until a few days ago.  I can no longer launch Internet Explorer from my office.  This happened several days ago.  Why is this happen and how can I solve this problem?

That you have installed all the software before the problem happen?

Searching Internet Option and go to the tab programs and select Manage Add-ons, and then disable the modules that you do not use and press ok and reopen Internet Explorer.

  • Flash CS6 does not not create an .app file when I output as application with the embedded runtime

I'm looking to create an application with the embedded runtime, but the process keeps failing without raising an error. More precisely: in settings of the Air, I select output as follows: Application with the runtime shipped. When I build this way, Flash tells me that he created the Telepath tactical - Steam.app...

    AIR building error.png

.. .but no never .app file really does appear in the folder:

    Files Created.png

This happens regardless of what I included in the library path and default binding settings. (When I say that it out as follows: Windows install, on the other hand, the appropriate exe file opens without problems.)

    I use Flash Professional CS6 v. 12.0.0.481 on Windows 7, 64-bit.

So, I found this one: this problem was caused by an old .fla (original created in Flash CS4 or something like that) that had been converted over time to be compatible CS6. Recreate the .fla from scratch in CS6, corrected the problem.

Cape Cod HOME - Android applications on Google game

I see a few downloads - but not a ton - and no inapp purchase

I was wondering if someone had noticed?

That much more dominant Apple on Google game?

The split between iOS and Android use varies a bit depending on the country. We have titles in the regions outside of the United States where Android is absolutely more than the use of the iOS.

Simply listing an application in a store does not guarantee downloads, especially in markets crowded as Google play. You will need do marketing on your side to help your potential readers to understand your application exists and to guide them on how to get it.

    what the devil!

We are sorry for the inconvenience this is for you. Can you please if you did the migration from a previous version of MAC OS in Yosemite (10.10.1)? If so, you have problems at the launch of the Desktop Application? If so, there are two steps available to us.

    (1) first of all, please check the permissions on the folder/library and see if you have the full read & write access. If you do not, I would ask you to have a conversation with Apple support.

    (2) if the permissions are all very well on this issue, please check the same on folder ~/Library as well.

If all goes well, I would ask you please reinstall and try again.

  • Unable to launch the App with DONKEY

I was unable to launch an application that uses a native extension. Everything compiles without error, but when I go to launch the application that closes before either one has started. That left me unable to even to debug the application.

I have removed all references to the extension of the code, but am still group the .swc and .ane files (as well as a reference in the - app.xml). Does anyone have any ideas what can cause this behavior?

By creating your DONKEY, under QCC Linker/library, you have added for all configurations of AirStub? Under the side AS3 you have arguments "- swf - version 13" added to your compiler?

  • Can I use the same key signature for the WebWorks bar and bar of the Android app?

I have applied the signature key for my WebWorks Playbook applications, works without problem.

Am I able to use the same key to sign transformed Android apps?  Tried several times and always got error: invalid password, while the same key/password works fine with Webworks bar signature. Don't know if I did something wrong or I have to apply a new key for the signature of the Android app.

    Thank you

Yes.  This is discussed here: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Tablet-OS-SDK-for-Adobe-AIR/What-happens-when-the-signing-cer...
