80040153 translates into "class not registered".

I recommend trying to re-register the DLL from Windows Update files by using method 4 in the article below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/822798

You can also try other methods as well, as they won't hurt but the method that I think will help #4.

    I hope this helps.

  • I have a HP 1210v all-in-one printer scan feature stopped working?

I ran the HPPSdr.exe diagnostic tools 2.0 untility and he said I have a HP TWAIN scanning error, a required component could not be found or has been incorrectly installed. Uninstalling, reinstalling the HP IMaging device and try to scan the image. I went through this ordeal and their guided solution and it is still saying HP TWAIN Scan SCANNING error, registry, Manager HP flow. He sent a test page, and it always produces the error. The scan button is just flashing on / summary and analysis will not start, then the light becomes stable. The error number produced was 4, [0,0,80040154), (2,68,8004001c),(0,0,0),(3,68,0)] I have win 7 OP system so now some features that I can't use, but I was still able to use the "scan" button before this evolution.

If you were able to scan previously on Windows 7, you get lucky.  According to this document scanning, copying and buttons PhotoSmart Essentials does not work.  You should always be able to scan using MS Paint, however.

    Analysis of error code 4, [(2,0,80040154), (0,0,0), (3,56,0)] Scan on L7590

The doctor analysis says it works fine.  I've even heard do the scan test (with the scan doctor) but when he said okay, now try you it, I received the same message as before.  It says that I need to reinstall HP Photosmart provided with my camera. ...

This morning, I did a full install of the HP site.

I found a site that said there were additional files in his directory of TWAIN, but that is not my problem.

    I'm on Windows 10

    Any ideas?

    Hi again.

    He now works...

The printer itself had worked for months, but I had never loaded the interface of scanning.  So, I downloaded and ran the last lot of installation HP for my OfficeJet L7590 but had the problem mentioned previously.

I spent hours reading posts and try to bugs.

Saturday morning, I uninstalled everything about HP and checked the TWAIN folder also (based on another post, I had read).  Then I reinstalled using the same installation package that I had already downloaded, and this time it worked.

    So I guess we have:

When all else fails, restart, then

When all else fails, read the instructions, then

When all else fails, uninstall and reinstall

  • Windows Update, error 80040154

    Hello

I have problems with a system virtualized Server 2012 is not able to receive Windows updates. The system is configured to check for updates, but not download them. Shortly after clicking check the updates, I get an error message with the code 800040154. I searched the net and found some possible fixes:

    • Compensation %WinDir%\SoftwareDistribution folder
    • Restart the service WUAUSERV
    • Restart of BITS
    • Disable Windows Firewall
    • Disabling the antivirus

None of these corrections helped. The system can communicate with the internet. Here is an excerpt from WindowsUpdateLog.log, things I see as potential clues are in bold:

    Hi Rogerthuso,

Thanks for posting your question on the forum of community of answers.microsoft.com.

Initially, we must ensure that nothing is running in the background that is to stop the process.  A number of questions had to be a response to processes that could be loaded, but this step will help eliminate questions and help us to check more in what layer level, the problem occurs.

Let's start with a clean boot process, it is sometimes used in a number of troubleshooting steps, but it helps particularly when used in a framework of community forum with the wide spread of programs and services that may be in conflict.

Here are the steps for cleanboot:

The steps for the clean boot is from the following article.   http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  You can refer to it for the complete overview of how this process works.  Don't forget to put your system back into a normal state after troubleshooting is completed.  Also, keep in mind, after performing the steps below, please indicate any error you receive or information you get when you try to access Outlook.

Step 1: Perform a clean boot Note if the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    1. Log the computer by using an account with administrator rights.
    2. Click Start

type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    3. On the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)
    4. Under the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

Note following this step lets Microsoft services continue to operate. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    5. Click OK and then click on restart.

      Please keep us informed.

      Kind regards

  • Error code 80040154, Please HELP!

Hi, guys. I just joined because I can't seem to find a solution for the problem that seemed to just start today... and I don't know much about computers except how to cause problems!

I currently have a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 and running a 32-bit operating system.

I just installed Norton 360 Version 4 on the computer yesterday, and that's when my problems began. I don't know if I'm having a conflict with the anti-virus program and windows, so Windows is having the problem.

The thing is, Windows Defender will not download updates, and does not update Windows. It was working fine before, but now it seems that it is having serious problems.

When I try with Windows Update, I get this: "code 80040154."

When I try it with Windows Defender, which tells me that in the Security Center, is obsolete and should be checked for updates, I get this: "error found: code 0 x 80040154."

Does anyone have this problem? If so, how it was fixed? And please, try to explain as clearly as possible, because I think I could have found the answer somewhere else here, but I did not understand what the devil posters spoke.

    Thank you!

veesis1 wrote: I have the same error code displayed with Windows Update, but install the updates of Windows Defender. I had Norton Antivirus and it has expired, so I bought Webroot. Webroot recently expired, so I downloaded Avast! In my case, Windows Update has not worked for at least 6 months...

Should have replaced free NAV before your subscription or trial period expires (and you must have run the Norton Removal Tool before installing a replacement AV app, too). Then you would have replaced the Webroot request before that your subscription has expired or the free trial period.

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) otherwise and before using a flash drive or the SD card that is not brand new, or has not been freshly formatted:

Tip: After getting the computer fully patched, download/install KB971029 manually: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971029

NB: No matter what Norton or McAfee free trial which is preinstalled on the computer when you bought will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free and download/run the removal tool before installing updates, Windows Service Packs, or updates IE and before installing your new anti-virus application (which will require WinXP SP3 must be installed).
