  If you need extended evaluation licenses to have more time for normal commercial licensing - just ask a representative from VMware. I had no problem with that.

  If you already have a professional license, they won't expire. VI licenses are permanent, single period of support may end, but this will not affect any of your VI.

  First of all I apologize for asking a question that is probably buried in a document from somewhere. I'm just my feet wet with VMware and my search-fu skills are still weak in the world of the VM.

  If your just bring for guests, there will be no license problems.  Licenses are applied to the ESXi host, not the guests.  Ask you manage 3.5 hosts in vCenter5?

  Don't forget, to leave the vHardware for the VI3 guests at 4.  When the conversion is completed, upgrade the VMware first, and then the virtual hardware tools.

  No, it's both.  Company like can see beyond the 6 cores per physical processor and allow up to 8vCPU per guest.  See the link I posted above

  Yes, you can do it.  Don't forget, the App World asks you for a URL.  This URL can be anything.  Then. You can have a URL like this:

  http://www.mydynamiclicenseserver.com?source=appworld&price=9.99&someOtherParameter=value

  App World will automatically add the other parameters in the URL.

  I am facing a problem! I installed 3 HP DL - 380 7 (double take) with ESXi 4.1. I installed a vCenter server, installed my license file (ordered for 8 servers) and said my ESX 3.

  Then I had a problem & reinstalled my ESX servers, from scratch... I forgot to leberate licenses!

  So after reinstalling my 3 servers, I have only 4 CPU on the left instead of 10! & I can't find where is the option for 'invisible' ESX unregistered

  Could someone help me on this matter?

  Simply remove the license and again reinstall the same license. The "assessment" to the ESX host fresh installed license, you can assign temporary before removing the license file.

• Host esx license problem substituting

  Hi all

  I have a problem when I try to replace it by an esx host.

  We have a total of 20 under license issued, 19 in use (9 esx host have 2 cpu, 1 esx host has 1 cpu).

  To add a new host esx (I'll call esx11), I had to unplug and remove a host of VIC (I'll call esx01).

  The result is that esx11 is "unlicensed" and if I make a 'survey of status' using license server tools (FYI License Server is installed on Virtual Center), it always reports as licensed hospitality that I disconnected (esx01).

  Any ideas?

  just because you disconnect will not remove the license.  You must go to the ESX host, under the configuration tab and the features under license.  Change your license source.
