4 virtual servers in a single physical Machine with a physical LAN card, how possible to assign 4 different unique to each virtual server IP address?

Can someone tell me please, that each server Machine should have an IP address of seprtae to connect the client computers. If we have 4 Server virtual machines in VMware in a physical server with a LAN card with only a MAC address. How can assign us the same IP address to all computers in Virtual Server 4? While we need four IP addresses of different/seprate for each server computer to connect to client computers. can someone explain to me please. (will be greate if you can give me a few examples). Thanks in advance.

You will need four different IP for each virtual machine, and each VM will have a different MAC address generated automatically by vSphere.

Assuming you are using vSphere, I highly recommend you take a look at this document: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/virtual_networking_concepts.pdf

pleas help me... but probably easy...

Assuming you have the management and the virtual machines on the same network, attach both rising/NIC bindings to the vSwitch0, configure the management network and tie each VM to the port "VM Network" group. As DSTAVERT mentioned, the IP of the virtual machine configuration is done in the VM themselves, as if they were physical systems.

If you have different subnets for the management and the virtual machines, you must either create multiple vSwitches or work with the VLAN.

  • Create a virtual machine with the physical RAM total?

I want to virtualize ESXi 4 on my MacBook Pro. However, I have 2 GB of RAM and ESXi 4 requires a minimum of 2 GB.

I posted in the community of ESXi (is it possible to virtualize ESXi 4 with less than 2 GB of RAM?) and there is a solution for using ESXi with less RAM, but the problem is that I first need to run the installation with 2 GB.

Basically, I tried to create a virtual machine with 2 GB, but the maximum I can use is 1840MB. Is it something that I do with Fusion to increase this limit? I understand that I am under a host operating system and requiring too little RAM, but just to get through the ESXi installation isn't it possible to push the VM of RAM to 2 GB and the host what OS increase the pagefile to deal with the lack of RAM?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you

You may be able to edit the .vmx file and change the memsize option either 2048 or more. The merger is able to start a virtual machine with more memory that the host, just UI prevents common users to exceed the limits of security in general.

I'm not quite sure what would happen if the VM actually tries to use all of the memory. If all goes well, it will be just talk and run slowly. Of course, the worst case are that it crashes.

  • Creating virtual machine with existing data

    Hi all

I have virtualized my almost all servers except the one and only one file server.  I'm under vsphere 4 with 2 ESXi hosts and a 2000 Eternus model 100 SAN and using Veeam 6 B & R

    Current configuration

Physical server with 2 network cards

    1 NETWORK LAN card

1 SAN NETWORK card using MS iSCSI initiator

    Windows 2003

There are 2 volumes on my SAN which is connected via the MS iSCSI initiator containing the data for the file server.  Server file sharing (NTFS) files stored on the San, and they have a lot of NTFS permissions on files and folders (approximately 1.5 TB of data).

    Ideal configuration

    1 virtual server

    1 vNIC to LAN

2 volumes of SAN share via the server

    Windows 2008 r2

    My question

Can I just add volumes to vsphere, create a virtual machine, add the two volumes of the virtual machine as 2 hard drives, the actions of installation and do with it?  I wonder where the permissions are checked and if these measures can be made without wiping the volumes.  I don't have another 1.5 TB of free space on the SAN.  I have a Netgear NAS I use as a target for backup if necessary but I prefer not to have to move the data if it is not needed.

I hope that I have covered all my bases to make this easy to understand situation and we hope to meet .

    Thank you

Welcome to the community - Yes, you would be able to present the NTFS on the computer virtual hosted on your server using a RDM (Raw Device Mapping). Permissions on NTFS volumes are stored in the NTFS file system-

  • Create a virtual machine with Maximum carrots ESXi has?

I someone told me that VMware does not support to create a virtual machine with more than 50% of the available cores has your host. For example, I have an ESXi host with 2 CPU each with 8 cores. I have therefore 16 cores on my host. I wouldn't be able to create a virtual machine with 8 cores to be supported. Even if I am able to create a virtual machine with 16 cores? Is this person crazy me

This is completely untrue, there is no such limitation. If your license allows, you can use vCPUs as much as your physical host has available threads and as the VM virtual hardware version allows.

I'm trying to get a simple list of virtual machines on a single host and include their name and networkname.

When I run this Get - vm | where {$_.} $host.name - eq "ESX.local"}, I get the virtual machines with their name.  When I run this Get-networkadapter - vm Get - vm | where {$_.} $host.name - eq "ESX.local"} I download news network with the name of the network, which is what im after. "  I want to combine these 2 commands and get vm name and network name in a csv.  The network name is the Group of ports, the VM is affected change settings for example, it could be vlan10 or what you named your group of ports in the switch DV.  I've attached a screenshot of the orders successfully.

    Hello, brisketx-

You could do a little more efficiently by getting first the VMHost (s) that are of interest, then get their virtual machines and then using a computed property for the names of network for virtual machines.  As:

    Get-VMHost esx.local | Get-VM |    Select-Object Name, @{n="NetworkName"; e={(Get-NetworkAdapter -VM $_ | %{$_.NetworkName}) -join ","}}

You can then, of course, lead to Export-Csv to write the data to a CSV file.  How does do for you?

  • URGENT! After installing 6 Fusion and creation of new virtual machine with Windows 7, I get a message "VMware Fusion cannot enter the unit". WHAT SHOULD DO?

After purchase, installation and activation Fusion 6 with the license key, I had a library of VMS showing 2 Boot Camp partitions. It's strange that I only have 1.
I tried to activate them but received a message that it is out of date in 2 cases. (see annex 1)

I started a new virtual machine with a Windows 7 installation disc directly on my HD. I have provided a way to do this and followed the instructions of Fusion to the screen.

Apparently, everything went well and after several restarts, the installation appears to be over (see annex 2) I tried to open and run the installed Windows 7. I had however a window with the following message:

    "Pending the unit.

"VMware Fusion cannot enter the unit. Please wait until the unit starts automatically, or interact with the virtual machine below. ' (see annex 3)

Here Windows 7 seems to start but after a while with the home screen and of the Øresund finishing this window closed and open a new window called library Virtual Machine on the left showing the partitions of Bootcamp and the Virtual Machine Windows 7 x 64 and in the middle gray a representation of what is supposed to be the Windows 7 desktop. (see Exhibit 4). When I opened the settings button a window with different setting options pops up. This mark means to me that Windows is installed but the final opening isn't the case

When you quit Vmware Fusion indeed Windows seems to be close (see part 5)

What is going on? What has gone wrong? What should I do? I don't know how to solve the problem.

I should f.i. remove the virtual machine from Windows 7 and is free automatically made partition on my HD as the reboot with the Windows installation disc? or y at - it another way to enter the UNIT?

    Help, please!

    Thanks in advance

Your virtual machine is running. It is in the unit - which each windows gets its own window of Mac - and you have no application Windows running, there is no visible windows. You can start a Windows application in the start of Fusion menu in the menu bar at the top right, or turn on the Windows task bar on the view menu and start applications from there. Or use the view menu to switch to the Single mode or full-screen, which puts all of your Windows desktop in a window separate from Mac.

You do not have two partitions to Boot Camp on your Mac, you have two virtual machines named "Boot Camp partition".

The message about it being unable to enter the unit arrives while the merger is pending for the tools begin to run, because the tool is necessary for the unit.

  • Plan for the creation of new virtual machine with 3 TB data drive

We have an old server, we need to virtualize, and one thing that we need is a lot more storage. We have approximately 3.25 TB of available for this machine (250 GB for the OS and 3 to for the data drives), but I'm going in circles trying to find the best approach for this server. It is not possible to separate the data between several players because of the way the files are indexed. I have created a virtual machine with 2 TB of disk space (for the readers of OS and data) and added 1.25 TB of disk space I want to add on the data reader, but it does not seem possible to add 1.25 TB without destroying the data on the first disk of 2 TB. What is the best approach? Create a single disc for my virtual machine that is 250 GB and then add in two separate disks of 1.5 TB for storage and combine them within Windows?

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Hello

Unfortunately, the maximum size of virtual disk to a virtual computer is 2 TB - 512 bytes. In you case it should create two or three separate virtual disks and combine them (disks RAID 0 or concatenate). Another way (IMHO besser way) is to create several virtual drives and mount using NTFS mount points.

    An example:

C:\Data is a folder on one of the virtual disks. Create a second virtual disks and create the C:\Data\Data2 folder. Rather than assign a drive letter for the newly created disk, you can mount it in the Database2 folder. This gives you the ability to move the largest files on separate virtual drives without lose you the structure of folders.

    Kind regards

  • Start and stop Virtual Machines with the system

    Hello

In a server cluster @vcenter HA/DRS 5.1, I enabled start and stop virtual machines with the system option but after I checked two days later, he is off again somehow. What makes this option off? I had a power failure in the datacenter. vCenter server has not been upward. I started all of the ESXi servers manually then went all VMs account is declining. I want that they start automatically when server ESXi upward.

    Thanks in advance,

Thank you. This option is more valid than if the hosts are part of an HA Cluster license. I suspect that you configured through the traditional vSphere Client and that it is a bug with this client. If you try with the new vSphere Web Client, you will find a notice that it is disabled and there is no button "Edit".

The New-VM cmdlet takes a single value of the parameter - data store and all of the virtual disks will be located on this data store.

If I understand your request, you create a virtual machine with 2 virtual disks, each on a different data store.

You can use the cmdlet New - hard drive for it.

    $datastore1 = get-datastore | where-object {$_.Name -eq "lun1"}
    $datastore2 = get-datastore | where-object {$_.Name -eq "lun2"}

    $vm = new-vm -name vmtest01 -VMHost ESXserver -datastore $datastore1 -diskmb 8192 -memorymb 4096 -numcpu 2 -GuestId winNetStandardGuest
    new-harddisk -vm $vm -datastore $datastore2 CapacityKB (8192 * 1KB)

  • Is - this convert a virtual server change anything on the original physical server boot disk?

I then ran the vCenter Converter Standalone and looked at the log roll window on it's finally a few steps.  One of the journal entries said something about changing the structure of the boot (wrong wording), but I wasn't sure if that was the physical disk I just cloned, or is that the virtual server drive just created?  I'm afraid to restart this server in case he just changed the server startup disk and it's 45 minutes in a remote site...  Is - that nothing get changed during execution of the program of conversion?  It really "convert" all about this new virtual disk and now my server won't boot from a physical disk or what?

    Thank you

Welcome to the Forums - No. you will always be able to start the Dungeon of the physical in mind machine if you have not customized the new virtual machine and it works you can end up with conflicts on your network-

  • Watch LAN card 10 members for machines virtual esxi 4.0.

Hi all VMs shows 10 Mbps instead od 100 Mbit/s that are the NIC configured on my physical esxi server.

I'm not able to determine what settings are needed to 100 Mbit/s or 1 GB lan card speed.

Ignore this. But make sure that you do not use the type of vNIC 'vlance' in your comments. Look up this word in the prompt .vmx file or check type in the vSPhere client.

As long as you use not "vlance" the vNIC is as fast as the processor allows. The virtual NETWORK card is not b to physical restrictions of LAN. As long as the physical NETWORK card has a 100 Mbps link, it can be used by customers, no matter what you told the guest.

Important! Make sure that you have installed VMware tools. They contain the necessary vmxnet virtual NIC driver.

With regard to the recommended auto/auto setting: be careful. Check your physical switch port where the ESXi server is connected. If you can see the collision, put yourself in fixed 100FDX on both sides (port NIC and switch). In most cases I've seen problem, when you use auto/auto, that means collisions happened. This reduces the performance of your network. Most of the time by using a fixed configuration as servers is the best choice.
