6 months of Fuze' solid ing and randomly, he died...

My rocket died today and I don't know that why, I kept it in a plastic case to try to prevent any strike up. 2 or 3 times in the last few months I've seen the screen go white and after having turned it off for a little while, then turn it on again the problem disappeared. I'm guessing this could be water or heat? I live in Hawaii where it is wet and warm. Is it possible to fix this thing, or is there ANY kind of warranty RMA or refund that I'm not aware of? I bought it on Amazon.com about 7 months ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't know how I will live without an mp3 player because I don't have any extra money right now.

First, try a soft reset to make sure that it is not only frozen. Hold the cursor of power for about 20 seconds, if it does not the "rocket" has a 1 year warranty. just give sandisk support a call and they can help 866-sandisk.

    Hi Bill,

    Overheating and random power offs are surprisingly common on this model of laptop. The problem arises because the debris and dust is sucked into the grilles of the fan on the bottom of the laptop and is then trapped in the heat sink CPU effectively blocks. A thermal cut-out will work when the CPU temerature becomes too high and turns off the phone to avoid any damage.

    Regular clearing of debris in the heat sink is necessary (I do mine a week). Usually a domestic pipe against the bars of fresh air fan will be sufficient, although in severe cases, it may be necessary to remove the radiator (accessible by removing a panel of access at the bottom of the laptop) and manually clear the debris.

    Fuze will shut off randomly, then it takes a few seconds to turn on. After that I see the symbol of welcome, it says media refreshing and it takes about 5 minutes to complete. It is very annoying! Please a little help.

    Normally, the "rocket" is enough to update the database on data transfers.  If the SD/SDHC card is not inserted, the database will not refreshing at startup.

    I have an eye on the music files for problems with ID3 tags and album art files especially.

    First of all, connect the "rocket" in MSC mode and check the memory of Sansa to find errors in the file system: right-click on my computer, and then select manage.  Click on the "rocket" and check the drive for errors.  Do this for the two logical drive letters assigned to the "rocket".

    Don't forget that your ID3 tags are written with tags ID3 v2.3 ISO 8859-1 (Latin-1) .  Great use for this is MP3Tag, a free utility.  In addition, be sure that your JPGs for your music (cover) are 300 x 300 or smaller.  The images are not necessarily greater then 15 to 20 KB or more, otherwise, you can run into questions.

    The "rocket" can freeze and possible can turn off if you try to play a corrupted music file.

    A simple way to know is by following the steps above, or format the "rocket" and reload your music a few tracks at a time, to see that all is well.  Remember, the "rocket" Formatting erases all the data (media) of the device, so have copies ready to reload on your Sansa backup.

    Firefox has been repeatedly and randomly crashing for about a week. I have sometimes a few hours of uninterrupted navigation but often have restart Firefox 10 times in 10 minutes too. It's completely random, it still happens in safe mode, AND when the plug-ins/add-ons custom are disabled. I use the latest version, I uninstalled completely and re installed, but it worked only for a day or two. It occurs on many different pages and doesn't seem to have a boss. Malware bytes was performed several times and nothing is found. Windows has all the updates that are available. The only thing I can imagine could cause what I have not tried to fix is the dissonance between Firefox and old Windows XP as possible a problem. Any ideas?

    There appears to be opportunities that the above entries relate to a malware disguised as something else (which would explain why they are not versioned) or they could be old remnants now not supported by Google Desktop.

    It may be interesting to try to uninstall Google Desktop, or put in quarantine and sometimes delete these two files. It would be certainly interesting runs a malware on these specific files up-to-date.

  • HP monthly Diagnostic Tool - Runs slow and eventually hold endless.

    The Daiagnostic HP of end of month on a HE - 210Y Pavilion 64 bit Win7 works extremely slow and finally stops at the end of 63%.  No other programs are running.  Had to cancel because of the stall.  No test failure wasn't indication for the part that ended.  This is the second consecutive month that has happened.  Prior months - the test ran successfully and quickly.  What is the solution?

    30/04/14 - the monthly diagnostic completed without error, test and it was completed in maybe an hour of time.  I did not observe the process - the computer was ON and I completely forgot the test of end of month.  When I came back, he had successfully completed in maybe an hour or two.  This is in contrast to the experience last month when he never completed and finally stalled after several hours.  (The computer worked very well except for a few issues download in Google Chrome using Realplayer).

    So, what has been fixed in the meantime?  Unknown, expect that Kaspersky Anti-virus I have lead me to leave 'fix' a 'threat '.  I admitted to its process.  The Feast was due to "Quicktime", and it has been deleted.

    Also, I did remove 'Intermediate' which was marked with another download and replace the search Google by Bing - udesired by me.  I must be more careful with downloads.

    For now - the problem of diagnosis of end of month slow / stalled has been fixed somewhat.

    a good way to fix a wide variety of pc problems is to run a chkdsk

    1. Hold the windows key
    2. Press R
    3. in the box that opens type of command, press enter
    4. type the following echo Y | CHKDSK C: /r
    5. Restart the computer

    It will scan your hard drive for errors that can be caused by being improprley stop, as when the death bluse screen occurs.

    Check if the quick start option is enabled, your laptop. Here are the steps:

    1. open the Power Options window. Use one of the following methods:

    A. press the WIN + R keys at the same time to launch the Run dialog box. After that, type powercfg.cpl , and then press enter.

    B. press the WIN + X keys at the same time to launch WIN + X Menu. After that, select Power Options.

    C. the Start screen and the Windows of type power will show the results, select the Power Options.

    2. click on settings , then choose change how the power buttons.

    3. scroll down and look for turn the (recommended) quick start under stop settings.

    4 uncheck the checkbox, and then click save changes.

    Note: if the option has said isn't here, scroll down and select change settings that are currently unavailable to change.

    5 restart your laptop.

    I use win xp pro and try to get an old HP Deskjet 600 to work.

    I connected with a parallel cable.

    No problem with the paper feeder or ink cartridges.

    When asked to print from word or the test page, I get a page of garbage with symbols and random letters.

    The first line begins with a symbol of the spade and then capital L then followed arrow on another capital L.

    Is he crazy or is there a solution?

    Hi Lynnega - usually this kind of problem is the result of having the selected incorrect printer driver or a problem with the cable.  A couple of things to check:

    -When you click on print (from any program you print from - from MS Word), make the DeskJet 600 is selected.  If it is not selected, search through the list and select it.

    -If the 600 DeskJet is selected, turn the printer off and unplug and reconnect the parallel cable to the computer and the printer.

    -If is not yet solve the problem, I recommend to try another cable.  Cables can go wrong and the result is usually the impression of 'trash' that you see.
