6 player XPSP3 accommodation under Vista-32 - troubleshooting - printers it the host but do not print

With 7 Player, I created a VM XPSP3 on Win7-64 guest and was able to connect and print correctly after installing the VM Tools.

However, under a multitude of Vista-32 running the latest available Player 6, the resized copy of VM sees all printers host very well, but prints never. The documents appear in the comments queue, then disappear after a minute or two, as if they printed. The printer itself is not even wake up. This happens for any printer tested. The same printers print without problem from the host Vista OS itself.

I noticed that in the configuration of the VM on the host, no 'Printer' entry in the list of devices, even if I remember well, seeing that the entry on the Win7 host when I was testing on it.

This seems to be a Player 6 configuration problem or a problem with the tool of ThinPrint not correctly passing through the print job to the host - apparently he just think that it is.

What is my best way to troubleshoot and resolve this? I'm pretty new to VMWare is currently pretty much a black box.

I'll try to uninstall and reinstall the tools if possible and report back if that helps.

Success!

I followed my comment on the missing printer entry in the settings of the VM on the host. By adding one solves the problem. Nothing else was required.

lost all data on my pc it says now I need a disk to reinstall on the pc but does not got one I can do

    Hello

Here are the different ways to reinstall vista

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

  • Workstation Pro 12 will be not client 32-bit Vista autofit then resizes of the host window

I use 12 Pro Workstation on Windows 7 64 bit.

I had a VM Vista 32 - bit desktop 11 step, I had put for the prompt automatically resize to fit the host VMware window.

I upgraded to Workstation Pro 12, open the virtual machine and updated for compatibility of 12 jobs. I started it up and everything was fine with the resizing as a guest before to match the host window.

Then, I've updated the VMware Tools. And now, if I resize the window host VMware, Vista clients sound USB connect/disconnect bongs, and after a few seconds, the host window snaps back to its previous size.

It is the only VM 32 bits that I have, but with Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 8.1 VMs version 12 VMware Tools work very well and comments autofit works exactly as it did before.

All work around (other that the no upgrade VMWare Tools)?

    Thank you

    Alan

Same thing happened for me (Vista 32-bit). Same guest machine worked well with Workstation 8 but update to hardware of Pro 12 caused the automatic adjustment to stop working for this particular machine. Windows 10 and Windows 8 virtual machines work fine.

Interestingly, I found that disabling the hardware acceleration of 3D (under the virtual computer screen settings) solved the problem for me - which is something I had to do to solve another problem I had. Not sure if you have improvements 3D accelerated or not, but it can be worth it.

  • Tecra A9 came with Vista and XP, the disks - but can not activate XP

    Hello

I have a Tecra A9, it came with Vista Business pre-installed and on a recovery disk. It also came with a XP Recovery disk.

Part of the documentation in the box suggests that I should be able to simply install XP from the recovery disc. I tried this, but I can't activate XP. I called the number of Microsoft on the activation screens and entered all the numbers, but I then told me that there is an error and I should change my product key.

My laptop on a a Vista product key stuck on the bottom. So, I seems to be a little stuck.

The sheet that was in the box says:

"it's additionall equipped with a Windows XP Professional Recovery DVD - ROM that allows you to easily install this operating system on your own. To do this, follow the instructions on the packaging of the DVD of restoration"

Usefully, there is no instructions on the packaging of recovery DVDs, I expected maybe a XP product key or something... But clearly not.

    How should I proceed?

    Thank you

    Hello

Formatting/reinstalling is overkill. A bit like buying a new car because you have a flat tire.

To reinstall, you can use either the volume of recovery or the recovery disc, both should work pretty much the same. In general, the product key is located on the system like a sticker (on laptops usually on the bottom). If you can't find yours, you should contact the provider or your network administrator (and in fact, if there is a working system, you should contact them before doing anything).

Before you do this right, you can try this: click Start and type CMD. Right click on the menu entry that appears and choose "Run as Administrator". Click on continue in the UAC prompt. From the command line, run:

    ipconfig/release

    ipconfig/flushdns

    ipconfig / renew

Allow everyone to finish (return to the command line) before proceeding to the next. When you are finished, close the command prompt. See if that helps with your problems of connection.

    Hello

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted
Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .
