64-bit CPU change

I have a Pavilion m7690n Media Center PC.  It has a MOBO Broadwater-P5BW-LA-00

with:

Bus Type Intel GTL +
The 64-bit bus width
Real clock 133 MHz
Effective clock 133 MHz
1066 MB/s bandwidth

I can't find which plug in there.  Belarc Advisor and Everest is 64-bit ready.

My question is how do you think this socket MOBO has, and if I can install a 64-bit processor?

Thank you

44 "

Well, now I feel like a fool.  I thought that the "64-bit ready' applied to the MOBO.  Now I don't know what to do.  Some of my programs are old and I don't see the need to buy a new one when they work just to be able to run at the speed of 64-bit.

Thanks, Big_Dave, for all your help.  You asked the right questions and to all the research I did, I don't think I want to go through the hassle of upgrading this machine right now.  I think that I have to announce to a few years more or until my programs no longer works and then buy a new machine with the software.

    There are two different questions:

1 Yes, a drive with a 32-bit installation of Windows will do just
very well, with a 64, but card mother and CPU.

    2. but try to use an existing installation of Windows on a drive when
the motherboard has changed (or not the number of 'bits ' a).
(changed), may or may not work. At the very least, you should make a
repair the installation. But sometimes this is not enough and clean
    reinstallation is necessary.

  • B580 cpu change

Hello! I want to improve my laptop. Pentium B970 (Sandy Bridge) has been installed in it. Can I change the cpu in my machine, but I don't know what CPU will be fit to my bios or motherboard based on the HM77 chipset. I've got a grip of rPGA 988B. Please help me thank you!

Good day and welcome to the community.

Please take a look at the manual of your equipment: http://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/b580_hmm_en.pdf

Manual pages 68-69 see the CPU removal and installation details. Manual page 85 (point #21) shows the processors that were usually configured in the machine. It seems that you have a few choices.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards.

  • County of 2970 Dell Ubuntu Linux 14.04 LTS 32-Bit CPU core wrong.

    Hello, I'm under two 6 core of 2435 in a 2970 with bios ver.4.2.1.

I am bound by 3rd party software to run a 32 bit kernel in case someone should wonder why, I'm not using a 64-Bit kernel.

I can run: 'lshw-type processor' and I see the County information and correct basic cpu.

If I run ' cat/proc/cpuinfo' it implements a basic info saying that there are only 8 cores. release of "lscpu", said the same thing.

As I understand things, lshw displays the BIOS of the server said is there.

cat/proc/cpuinfo more is a release of what has detected the kernel.

Is there a DELL / LINUX EMS on this forum that could clue me as to why I see all my CPU?

    Thank you

  • Windows 8 and 128-bit cpu

    Hello.

I buy a laptop. but I have question.

I've got my friend lesson: Windows 8 only Support 128 bit processor. Is it really?

Computers will not go 128 bit very very very long time...

A 32-bit address register means that 4 GB ofRAM or 232 addresses. It's the MAXIMUM THEORETICAL TOTAL AMOUNT OF MEMORY a 32-bit system can handle. So if you have 32 bit and you have 4 GB or RAM and 512 MB GPU RAm, your computer will use only 3.5 GB of RAM for the main system... TOTAL OF 4 GB. The 4 GB max has been implemented on almost all 32-bit systems...

64-bit, however, is not this double... Infact it does much more than that... currently on windows 7/vista, I think that the maximum memory is 192GO (this is only if you have the teacher/enter/ultimate) If you have the Starter/Home Edition it's 8 GB if you have Home Premium is 16 GB

The theoretical MAXIMUM for 64 - bit is actually 16 EXABYTES. 1 GB = 2 ^ 30 an exabyte is 2 ^ 60... now to give you another kind of referance what size an exabyte is really... 'In March 2010 , the overall monthly Internet traffic is estimated at 21 exabytes'

So I guess to answer your question... don't listen to your friend, he doesn't know what he's talking about. I've never even heard of a 128-bit processor. I've never heard of Windows 8. And all modern laptops will run vista or windows 7. Your CPU will most likely be 64 and 32 compatible (if the computer has been made in the last 3 years) Windows is 64 or 32-bit, but if you have the 64-bit, as I do, then 32-bit applications still works fine... But in theory, you can get more performance from a 64-bit application/software. The main reason to get a 64 bit version of windows in my opinion is to allow more than 4 GB of memory on your system.

  • After effects CC starts to hang after CPU changed?

Currently, I have the latest version. Yesterday, I could always use After Effects without any problems whatsoever. But today, I changed my CPU of 3570K to 3770K. And then all of a sudden, open a project, then playing with the space bar crashes after effects.

    First down:

    1. create the project.

2 import a film of mov.

    3. drag the images to new computer.

    4. (do nothing) export as Adobe Media Encoder queue.

    5. (in the SOUL) Preset: H.264, high Preset, coding.

6 10 minutes later, the TEA has stopped working.

    Second meeting of Crash:

    1. create the project.

2 import a film of mov.

    3. drag the images to new computer.

    4. (do nothing) playing footage (SPACEBAR).

    5. a few seconds later, after effects CC 2015.2 has stopped working.

At first I thought that perhaps my Overclocking is not stable, so I reset my OC then try again.

First meeting didn't try again yet.

    Second meeting had been set.

    Third meeting of Crash:

When editing, I think after you add an adjustment layer, then reading. (I don't really know)

    And now I'm here...

Without newspapers accident no one can tell you a lot. The simple truth is probably that you don't update your motherboard drivers and management power and cause a compatibility issue.

  • ESXi 6.0 physical CPU change

    Hi all

This is my first post in the forums and will gladly start to participate more now that I'm working a lot more with vmware products

My question concerns the change of physical processors allowed for ESXi 6. If my memory doesn't fail me ESXi 5.5 has been licensed for 2 processors physical (we have two processors in our ms), and we started to update some of them to 6.0. Now, after having entered the ESXi license, we noticed a difference (large and small) in what he says that he has been approved for...

    VMware6License.jpg

Someone please tell me they just made a mistake, because if they did, it's a step unhappy return in my opinion = / (and we will have to keep 5.5 on our servers)

    Thank you all!

    Kind regards

    Martin

I just ran a quick test. I installed ESXi 6.0 with a single processor as a virtual machine and is joined with the license of the hypervisor. He showed "1 physical CPU" as a license. I then shut down the machine virtual and added a second processor. After starting the virtual machine, he showed "2 physical processors", as a license (as expected).

  • CPU change

    Hello!

So, I have a white box with Core2Duo proccessor inside...

Now I Core2Quad Q6600 available. Can I just change the CPU without having to reinstall everything?

    Thank you!

For ESX (i) you can just Exchange CPUs and the boot upward.  Even for adding storage / network interface cards.

  • IdeaPad flex 14 to i5 i3 CPU change

Can someone tell me if its ok to change my processor i3 in an i5 or even an i7 on my flex 14 ideapad, or I have to change something? Like to have more quickly then it is and without any additional problems.

I'm not 100% sure, but so far I have not found any processors used in this laptop in another BGA package. If I'm not mistaken, unfortunately this means that it is soldered to the motherboard.

  • XD - bit (CPU function) disabled/not available for Satellite A100-PSAA9

Last week, I bought the laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-847 (Satellite A100-SPAA9) which has an Intel Core 2 Duo, model T7200.

Specifications Intel, this processor (as all Core and Core 2 processors) has the particularity of XD - bit, known in Windows like DEP. I had the unpleasant surprise to discover that this feature is
reported by Windows as unavailable (in hardware). I got the electronic manual on the recovery CD (which is an edition that is older than the printed manual that comes in the package) that I can do this feature
available (for some older models of Satellite) but I couldn't find any option in my BIOS to do this (my BIOS is made by Phoenix, version 2.0).

I really want to know how to make this feature available/active as my processor socket and so is the operating system purchased with the laptop and more than that, this feature is something beneficial - specially designed for security reasons and supported by all modern processors and operating systems.
What do I have to wait for an updated BIOS include this option (to activate the feature XD bit) or that it is automatically set as active/available (instead of disabled/not available)?

I expect a well documented answer from someone who knows what I'm talking about.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

I know what you're talking about.
Execute Disable Bit (xD-bit) Intel can help prevent certain malicious types of buffer overflow attacks when combined with a compatible operating system.
Disabling malware code procedure is called the extension-> short adj. data protection

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) helps prevent damage from viruses and other security threats that attack by running (executing) malicious code of the locations of memory that Windows and other programs should use. This type of threat causes damage by taking over one or more locations of memory used by a program. Then she spreads and harms other programs, files, and even your email contacts.

Unlike an antivirus program or firewall, DEP does not prevent harmful programs from being installed on your computer. Instead, it monitors your programs to determine if they use the system safely memory. To do this, DEP software works alone or with compatible microprocessors to mark some memory locations as "non-executable".

If a program tries to run malicious code or not a protected location, DEP closed the program and notifies you.
DEP can take advantage of software and hardware support. To use DEP, your computer must be running Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later version, or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later version. Software only DEP helps protect against certain types of malware attacks, but to take full advantage of the protection DEP can offer, your processor must support "execution protection".

The Windows 32 bit (SP2) version supports bit off Execute (xD) so the computer function notebook processor is running in mode of extension (PEA) physical address.
It is a technology based on hardware designed to mark the locations of memory as non-executable.
If your processor doesn't support hardware DEP, you need to upgrade a processor that offers execution protection features.

However, you can see the control panel-> system-> Advanced tab-> Performance settings-> Data Execution Prevention tab.

By default, DEP is enabled only for essential Windows operating system programs and services. In order to protect more programs with DEP, select turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
