(64-bit) Windows 7 programs missing in uninstall a list of programs.

Hello

My grandson likes to play internet games and download a number of them from time to time, and as usual, it let me uninstall a lot of Add-ons and other types of files unwanted. Toolbars vius protections, etc. You name it... and it is discharged by yours truly.

I had stopped it for a long time, but allowed him to download a more "Wizards 101" a few days back, and our pc acted super slow, gel etc... since.

So I just deleted several unwanted files in the Department "uninstall programs" and once it was finished, I had to change to another account momentarliy... but when I got home, I checked again to make sure that everything was ok, I found only 14 programs listed.

The list is always another long (a full-page scroll down) and almost every major program, I have the list.

I check every other account I have and it's the same on everyone.

I was very careful to uninstall any other files juck, and I have therefore absolutely no indication as to what is happening here. All my programs seem to work ok, so far anyway, except for the missing information in uninstall list programs.

I ran full analyses of the virus system (only for seven tracking cookies) and tried all the usual methods of maintinace I don't know.

This got me stumpped. If anyone knows a thing or two about this kind of problem, I'd appreciate some advice.

And would like also some tips for my grandson who reads this as well. Him and me have always disagreed on the dangers of downloading games on the internet and it was just someone else might believe next to his grandfather. (lol)

Any notice will be really appreciated.

My desktop is HP Pavilion slimline

MOD s5503w

OS = windows 7 Home Edition (64-bit)

service pack 1

Boramfan87, welcome to the forum.

You are absolutely right about the dangers of downloading games and other programs on the Internet.  In fact, I gave up downloading FREE programs.  If I do so, however, I use the custom installation option.  This allows me to check to see if all unwanted programs are added to my computer without my knowledge.  It happens all the time.

Now to get tips for you, Grandpa.  You can create an account for your grandson.  This will allow you to set Parental controls to keep certain types of programs to be added to your computer: control panel / user accounts / manage another account / set up Parental controls.  In addition, you can protect your account by adding a password.  Just make sure that you note somewhere if you can remember it.  It will be embarrassing when you have to say grandson that you forgot your password created to keep him out of your business.

It seems to me you may have inadvertently selected programs and deleted.  I can't think of anyway to make programs disappear from the "uninstall or change a program", otherwise.  You will have to reinstall any missing programs.

Please, click on "Thumbs Up +" if I helped you and click "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

ColdFusion 64-bit windows installation stops working after the recent microsoft updates and how I worked around it.

My question is at the end.

Deploying coldfusion 9 enterprise 64-bit on a trial version Windows 2003 64 bit what OS with OS data center all updates from MS (at 07/04/2011).

Measures taken (remember, this is all 64-bit):

    1. the installed the base OS that has been slipstreamed with SP2.

2 checked w / microsoft and 63 OS updates installed.

    3. launch the exe of the trial CF9.

    4. as soon as the first screen (the one that looks like it's the extraction of files) then finished the second screen (the one that says simply SEE Adobe Coldfusion 9) and the progress bar moves quickly 95% to the right and the installation application closes. No error, no nothing. No log file either.

    5. after a moment of silence disbelief (and a new attempt/reboot, etc.), I started to google. I found nothing. However, I found a post (thanks dspent!) which is useful in what he says how he managed to get a log file of all kinds, first extract the coldfusion_9_WWE_win64.exe file and launch the adobe_cf.exe by hand.  (Snafu Dspent install was different from mine, but his position has been very valuable and started me in the right direction.)

    6. has obtained a copy of the file rarunzipper and extracted from the coldfusion_9_WWE_win64.exe .

    7. in the windows directory created in step 6, I have launched adobe_cf.exe.

    8. the same thing (, the installation application closes. No error, no nothing. Log file No.).

    9. I look at the hs_err_pidxxxx.log file (where the xxxx is a number).

    10. I see inside this file, a disturbing message: 'a fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime' then ' framework issue ntdll.dll ' , then ' the accident happened outside the Virtual Machine Java to native code ".

    11. OK, now I'm thinking ntdll.dll. Native code! It's like Java tells me that for some reason any, that he can't dance with the operating system.

    12. on a hunch, I decided to test a CF install again on a server with just the installation of SP2 64 W3K3 (ie: skip step 2 above this time).

13 bingo! That the installation works.

    14. as a result, one of the 63 patches that I had downloaded from MS had triggered a problem with Setup see

    15. back on the first server (with MS installed security patches and that CF installs not on). In the adobe_cf.lax of file CF (one of the files extracted in step 6), there is a line that mentions where the installation gets it is java. Find this file, and check java version Installer uses. It is using 1.6.0_14 - b08.

    16. on the way to the Java website, and there is a newer version of java (1.6.0_24 - b07). Downloaded and installed IT.

    17. change a line in adobe_cf.lax :
    front
    lax.nl.current.vm=resource\\jre\\bin\\java.exe
    After
    Lax.nl.Current.VM=C:\\Program files\\java\\jre6\\bin\\java.exe

(this assumes that you leave step 16 install to the default location)
    Save the file.

    18. run installation ... * IT WORKS ! *

Obviously, the built-in java provided with the installation of the CF program is no longer compatible with some changes introduced by a recent update of MS on SP2 64 b. W2K3 platform

And now comes the interesting part. Although I made the installer to use the new java, it had not incorporated into the generation of CF (ie: in following, you see always c:/coldfusion9/execution/jre AND the java.exe version that is located in this directory is the original version, not the latest version, I forced the installation program to use).

On the surface, CF looks OK, but I did not test any application yet.

    And finally my
    * QUESTION *.
Var java.home would be appropriate just to point to the new java directory? I see that the structure of directories and files are not exactly the same (well close) so I am certainly not break things by doing this, but instinct tells me that if the installer beat using the old version, then something else will bring down the road if I do not use the new version. On the other hand, the differences between files and directories is enough that it makes me very nervous with my skill set java limitied to make that decision.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Byron,

Wow great post no doubt much of the information will be useful for those who have Win03 SP2 +. Must say not come across the similar problem on Win08 r2 SP1 +.

So, to your question. Adobe (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/894/cpsid_89440.html) security bulletin recommends to run CF8 and CF9 with JVM 1.6.0_24. The bulletin does not say how to do this. I take you installed the JDK and not only JRE 1.6.0_24? After installation of monitoring JDK as follows:

Stop the CF - stop SERVICES.msc "ColdFusion 9 application server.

Take a copy of CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config - so you have a backup.

Change the line CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config find "java.home =" and comment it for example:

    #java.home=C:/ColdFusion9/runtime/jre

Add the new line like and save next:

    Java.Home = C: / Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_24/jre

Note he slashes and the location of the JRE (runtime): you must point to that of JDK, because the other JRE in C:\Program Files\Java\jre6 will be missing a DLL.

    Start CF via SERVICES.msc.

  • How to run a 32 bit 64 bit Windows 7 program. I tried troubleshooting and answered, he ran on older versions of Windows, but that did not help. The program is writing more

I'm trying to run a writing more on my new computer with Windows 7. It won't work because it is a 32-bit program. I tried troubleshooting and replied he ran in an earlier version of the window, but it will not always be open. Any suggestions?

... It won't work because it is a 32-bit program...

Writing more is an accounting since the beginning of 1990s and support program was interrupted as of January 31, 2006. While I have no personal experience with the program, it is unlikely he was still 32-bit. It is much more likely that it was a 16-bit program, and that's why you have trouble to install and it works on a 64-bit Windows 7 installation.

If your program or its request for installation is a 16-bit-based program and you have a 64-bit version of Windows it simply does not natively regardless of the compatibility settings. You need to run and install Virtual PC XP Mode to have any chance of a fully operational 16-bit subsystem. If you are running Windows 7 Professional or ultimate, you can use Windows XP Mode and Virtual PC without a second license of Windows.

Note: you can't run XP Mode on Windows Home editions. If you are running Windows 7 Home Premium or somesuch, you use DosBox or any other program 3rd party virtualization that works with Home Premium. Visit the forums dedicated to these programs for more information.

    Hello
Welcome to the Microsoft answers site

(A). the utility use Windows install cleanup to remove Windows live Director and then restart the computer.
Description of the Windows Installer Cleanup utility
A link to the below information and to download:

When you are working on your computer and install a new program, the installation suddenly fails. Now, you're left with a partly installed program. You try to install the program again, but you're unsuccessful. Or, maybe you have problems trying to remove an old program because the installation files are damaged.

Do not worry. Windows Installer Cleanup Utility may be able to help. You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Remember that Windows Installer Cleanup Utility does not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall on.

    B. put the computer in a clean boot, and then install it on the computer by downloading.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. Boot stops interference with other third-party software on the computer.
Steps to perform the clean boot:
    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    5. click on OK.
    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.
    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

Reset the computer to start as usual
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
On the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

Twunk_16.exe isnot program compatible with Windows 7 64 bit system and I need to run other programs, for example Photoshop.  How can I get a compatible version of WHO and where does go?

You can not. There is no 16-bit subsystem in any 64-bit Windows.

If your device needs TWAIN 16-bit dual boot with XP, you can, get XP in a virtual machine or get a new device with 64-bit drivers.

The first question is whether you have a 64-bit or 32 bit one processor.
If it is 32 bit, you cannot install a 64-bit version of Windows to
    all.

If by "any other information," you mean data files, Yes, there
possible to do something like what you say. But if you mean also
programs, may not do that. To run a program,
was installed under the copy of Windows you have started.

And even with regard to the data, I think it's easier to just do a
external backup of your data, and then pure install 64-bit Windows and
    Restore the backup to it.

And if your answer is perhaps that you have no procedures in place
to make regular external backups of important data for you, let
tell me that you are playing with fire. It is not a question of
    * If * you will lose all your data, it's only a matter of * when *.
    This will happen.

  • 64-bit windows 7, I was able to install my programs probably 3 20 I used before, why is this? Ive tried the 64-bit versions designed for windows 7 and I tried compatibility modes.

I don't really have much to say... ive got 64 bit and ive tried almost everything I can. Some examples of what I can't install that are designed to work for it: itunes, logitech g19 keyboard drivers, Alex Feinmans iso recorder. also one of my cd drives doesn't let me do anything, like install stiff from a disc or copy a cd, if theres encryption at all. my other cd drive not... Skype does not, or ventrillo. Steam and all games run so far, and crysis works but its editing tools only and designed for 64-bit only. I don't like windows 7 and I do not think that its faster, but what's the point of speed if I can't run anything?

Drivers are specific, because 64-bit drivers are needed for 64-bit and X 86 (32-bit) systems drivers for this type of system.  X 86 applications run well on 64-bit if it does not involve drivers and software. You seem rather unlucky or unhappy.  What could have been encrypted by another user on another machine will most likely depending on what type of encryption, you talk about the problems.

Often the trick to get installed programs is to right click on the configuration file and select the "Run as Administrator" option.  Another often overlooked trick is to disable temporarily the scanner in time real and other similar programs during installation.
