Sometimes small window opens during the exploration of the error message files. Then when I click 'ok' to delete it explore crashes, the taskbar disappears and explorer.exe will restart. Windows explore which were open naturally disappeared, and so I need start exploring again from the beginning. This product even when no other application does, and of course, it always seems to happen when I'm pressed...
I googled the problem without success. What is error 86?

I tried (I also thought that surely someone must know), but all I could find was a reference to an obsolete version of WinAVI and I think than another (which could not have involved WinAVI) where someone said they noticed more frequently when opening files with the video files it contains.

Here's the part of this thread involving WinAVI:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/WinAVI-Q/topic/4172/

So if you go to the page of WinAVI and hunt, there are other people and then they get an update that fixes it.

If you don't use of WinAVI, you have another type of video edition/visualization (apart from the usual free) software installed?  Is there something that you can do at almost any time you want?  Your records have to video files and/or can you make the error occur just about anytime you want on a certain folder?

I read another story - the guy with the problem had an embarrassing record, so it makes a new folder, copied all his stuff from the record embarrassing in the new folder, and so he worked in the new folder, he has not seen the error once again (allegedly).  So if you can reproduce or see more often by going to a certain folder, you may want to see if this strategy works for you.

But you say that you see as sort of chance - could be Bitdefender (I did not check their forums since I don't use it).

I looked in some other forums where I hang out and found a few references, but no solution.

There is another MS (TechNet) forum where you can get some eyeballs more / different about your problem:

http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/itproxpsp/threads

I also spend time here who has some good people:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/Forum56.html

Don't forget to include this link to screenshot - which should be a good clue and someone can recognize it instantly.  Images are very useful and save a lot of Q & A.

Now if you understand, you come back and tell me here because I'm curious too!

BTW - I think that you will get no response more than any Microsoft Support Engineer - they seem to just give you an answer "keeps" with some links for things to try (try to clean boot, try boot secured, try sfc/scannow and see if this helps), and then it's the last that see you of them.  Then, other people have to enter and finish the troubleshooting.

If you come here, and this thread is going in slow motion, on 2 December, I predict the answer Gokul will be regarded as 'response' (that's the way it works here - check my profile).

    You have not said us what is on the disks.  If it's data, it can be able to be recovered.  If you need the OS you are frankly out of luck, especially if it's on a system more recent/64-bit.

    If you are in a more recent machine, you can be able to run a virtual XP machine that might be able to access floppy disks.

    Borrow a Microsoft Vista DVD(not Dell, HP, etc Recovery DVDs) to do a repair installation

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    Can someone please help me why this error; Windows Update error Code 80244019 appears when I update my computer?  I think it's due to the update of Windows Defender does not. I use Windows Vista. Please can someone help me solve this problem?
    I would check to see if you have a Trojan or a virus on your system.  He saw several cases with that error and it has been resolved by removing the Trojan horse and reboot your system. Once the Trojan horse has been removed, they were able to install from Windows Update again. It seems possible that your Windows installation has been damaged deliberately by a Trojan horse to avoid you update your system or remove the Trojan horse. Your first priority should be to clean your PC of any malware.
    (1) check that the definitions for Windows Defender is updated.
    Windows Defender is a free program that helps you stay productive by protecting your computer against the pop-ups, slow performance and threats caused by software security spyware and other potentially unwanted software.
    You can download Defender from the following web site.
  • Windows Update error 80070246
    Hello
    I have recently upgraded to Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1, 32-bit). Once installation is complete, I did the normal thing to go to windows update to get all the updates. After validation, it started to download somewhere in the order of 1 million updates (which is normal) and installed most of them without problem. However, these few finals refuse to install.
    .NET framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and the .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update - KB 951847
    For updates: KB850974, KB952004 KB953733 KB956802, KB957097, KB960803
    Update for Windows Vista: KB959108 KB952709, KB957388.
    Trying to install, I get the:
    Code: 80070246 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.
    Things, I tried that did not work and why/how they do not have to work:
    1: Download updates manually and install them with the Setup program to update windows on the local system (from windows update program) I just get the result "missed" without any explanation.
    2: started 'clean' and tried both (1) and the windows update with the same problem
    3: installation of each of them individually (both in the release order and random order) as well as a couple at a time groups, similar (updates security, updates, vista, etc)... nothing.
    4: I went to the site of support here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942968 and followed the instructions verbatim, including the download and installation of Windows AIK... no change.
    5: I tried "sfc/scannow" in an elevated command prompt (I also tried to take 'ownership' of my windows directory). I got the following results:
    Start of the phase of verification of the scanning system.
    Full check of 11%.
    Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation.
    6. I run Trend Micro Internet Security for which I completely from the program (not to mention the 'clean' boot) and tried without success.
    The only thing I can think to do then (apart from reformatting..) is the option 'fix' on boot from the installation CD but I only am not 100% sure who would fix.
    Someone at - it suggestions? I'm puzzled.
    Thank you
    W1ReD
    Hi W1ReD,
    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com
    To successfully install the update, uninstall all versions of the .NET Framework on the computer, and then reinstall all the versions of the .NET Framework on the computer. You may need to work through more than one of the following methods.
    Follow the steps in this KB article
    When you try to install an update for .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update error code
    I realize that it is not specifically the error received, however, the determination is essentially the same.
    Publish on us and let us know if this does not help or if assistance is needed.
    Kind regards
  • DEP closing Windows Explorer in windows XP error
    My computer is running Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2. I get "Windows Explorer has been closed in error DEP". System seems usually hangs at this point and after some time, comes back with a "recovered from a serious error message" how to solve this? Is it "compatible DEP" copy of the Windows Explorer pane? It occurs once after I have start the system. After it passes by him once, it seems to do very well.
    First of all, it would be good to know why you didn't have not upgraded your system to Service Pack 3, which is more than 3.5 years.  SP3 contains many updates and security patches applied, can relieve your system of this affection.
    Check out the fixes in SP3 here:
    Is not not wanting to work on Service Packs with obsolete systems (given that the question may have already been fixed with the SP3 update), I'll give you some general information on troubleshooting the errors of the DEP in Windows Explorer.
    First try to reduce the risk of a malware infection by doing this:
    No matter what you use for malware protection, follow these steps:
    Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
    They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
    Restart your computer and only then to solve the remaining problems.
    If you have DEP errors, it will be useful to see if you can reproduce the error on request.
    DEP in Windows Explorer errors appear generally when click with the right button on folders or files and try to perform an action in the list right click for options.  If you can reproduce at will, then when you perform an adjustment, if you no longer see the error DEP, you will know that you have thought about it.
    When the Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) is wrong (especially when right click), begin to suspect third-party add-ons explore extension.
    Those who would be the Explorer extensions that do not belong to Microsoft.  This means that extensions that you have added.  Solution Explorer extensions are generally well and installation of certain applications will install extensions from Explorer solutions for you, give you a choice and sometimes they can be added without your knowledge when you install the new software.
    Solution Explorer extensions are sometimes added as a new right-click option, you see on folders and files (like the scan of this file, open that file, play this song...).
    If there is something in particular that you do during exploration that you know will be the cause of the problem, which will help focus on the problem and the help that you suddenly know, when you have found and corrected.  If you can get there when you want it, make an adjustment and then there is no message the next time you don't do anything, you do, you have found and corrected.
    First of all you need a way to see what modules explore you have installed now and a way to turn them off (not uninstall them) so you can understand that we are at the origin of the problem.  You can have a lot of extensions not installed Microsoft don't even know you about.
    Download ShellExView here to see what Explorer extensions you have loaded:
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/shexview.html
    ShellExView does not install anything on your computer, simply of runs and displays.
    After launching ShellExView, under Options, choose "Mark non-Microsoft Extensions" and extensions not Microsoft will be pink, clear, but on some systems which is a difficult color to see, so click on display, choose the columns and move the column Microsoft closer to the top, so you can see on your screen without having to scroll left and right.
    Click on the column header for Microsoft sort display (by clicking on the column of Microsoft) then all the non Microsoft extensions are on top and easy to see.
    Non-Microsoft extensions would be things you have added (non-Microsoft) and are what you should be suspect.
    You can also Google the name of a suspect add-on and see if there is any success on the mistakes of the DEP and what other people have done about it.
    You can Google something like:
    Explorer XP crashing (you must fill in the name of add your suspect on.)
    See what kind of search results hits you get and are looking for solutions or situations that sound like yours.
    I'm not a defender of trial and error, but I can't think of another way to do...
    Right click and disable the non Microsoft extensions one at a time (or maybe in groups of 3-5 at a time), keep a list, so you can enable them again later if you wish. The result of the change is immediate and no reboot is necessary.  Test your failure condition.  If the Explorer starts to behave, you will know that an extension of this group of 3-5 is the culprit in order to start to enable them one by one until the Explorer fails again.
    If you recognize all the extensions that have been added or recently downloaded, start with these first.
    Don't forget - disabling the extension does not uninstall the extension - it is just disabled so you can always turn it on again.
    Disable them one at a time until your right click on do not generate an error, then restart and test again.  You have disabled the last extension would be suspicious.
    You can also just disable all non-Microsoft extensions, restart and allow them one at a time until you find the one that generates the condition.
    If you have a large number of extensions, you can disable them is small groups, 3-5 at a time instead of 1 at a time until your system starts to behave.  When it does not, you will know that the problem is one of the extensions of this small group and you can enable members of the Group at a time until the problem returns, then the problem is with the last extension that you enabled.
    The hope is that you will find an extension that caused the error, and then you can figure out what on this subject - either uninstall it or see if you can get an update of the author of the extension of their web page.
    I have not your problem, but I can when you toggle extensions, the extension is immediately disabled, so disable an extension does not seem to require a restart, but if you think that you have found the problem, I reboot and repeat the test in any case to be sure the problem disappeared.
    If you post your non-Microsoft extensions list, maybe someone will recognize it as a potential problem.
    If you find the offending extension that's the problem, please let us know what it is that I can add to my list.
  • SanDisk Mobile Ultra 64 GB write protection error
    I bought this card 4 to 6 months ago. It has worked great since last week-two when I started having problems with listening music etc (sometimes he stop or change the music in the middle of the track). I first thought that his problem with Android and I need to reflash it or maybe that the headphones are broken, but when I reflash Android I always format microsd and here's my problem - I can't do it!
    GParted on ubuntu gives me error with the substitution of partition (something like "this partition exists") and after updating, everything is as if it was earlier.
    On windows, I tried sdformatter (write protection error), easeus (near gparted) and windows tool (it is said that "the device can not be format").
    Now I don't know what to do. I want to "fix" myself, but maybe its totally broken.
    Any advice? Can I do something to make it useful?
    Thank you
    Both pis, man. There is no way to correct the error of write protection. You can call SanDisk to get a replacement.
  • Windows Update error code 8E5E0147 when installing KB968930 update
    I have windows vista and when I try to install update KB968930, I get the Windows Update error code 8E5E0147. Nothing seems to fix this error. Any suggestions?
    Hello
    There could be various reasons for the updates to fail. No matter what security software installed on the computer may crash or services related to the programs installed on the computer. Also if there are corruptions in the files\folders related to Windows updates.
    Reset update components would actually try fixing the part of corruption by recreating these files and also to re-register the files necessary .dll (Dynamic Link Library).
