968 on W8

I want to get this right the first time. I have a XPS8700 and if I understand well I should not install the program from the disk? I'm setting this up via a USB cable. I don't want to have the scan function to work. I understand I should then install drivers Vista 64 bit for W8 64 bit (r211825, http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/dell-968) (the referenced link was not available)? After that I installed the drivers, then I have do I plug the USB cable and turn on the printer and go to Device Manager and point the printer drivers? What about the function of the scan program, do I have to install the firmware? Is that what I should then run the program from the DISK? I don't like this beat to death, but then I hate to trash a perfectly good printer. Any help is appreciated.

BeepsWhirls,

Sorry for the delay, works.

I found that most of Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1 Windows systems, you can use the compatibility mode Vista SP2 Vista drivers

Having a problem with this pesky error filter for the Print Pipeline with the AIO 968 under Vista 32 bit (and maybe 64-bit as well)?

No problem, the solution is easier than you think.

But first of all a little info on the problem itself.  Apparently and I can't confirm it really, as I'm not a computer geek, but I can guess, that for some reason any Vista does not load the pilot PnP for this printer correctly.  And when you first set up your printer and you pass through the printer from taking any and all this is, that the Vista fails to load (activate) the appropriate printer driver.  And then when you install the printer software, iincluding the 'all-in-One Center' that it loads the driver XPS instead.  HRT XPS driver is not a suitable printer driver.  It is a driver of improved any.  I'm not really sure of what it is.

But in any case, the solution is simple.  Probably take no more than a minute, once you get off the process.  And it is simply "add a printer".

    Follow these simple steps:

    (1) go to the Control Panel.

    (2) select the printer under hardware and sound.

    (3) select Add a printer.

    (4)  select Add a local printer, and then click Next.

    Next step is very important.

    (5) select the port USB001 (virtual printer Port). Click Next.

    (6) scroll manufacturers here on the left, then select Dell

    (7) on the right, select the driver Dell 968 AIO printer ..  Click Next.

    (8) a licence agreement should appear.  Accept it.

    (9) the computer will then install this driver with a fast progress bar.  Shouldn't take but a few seconds.

    (10) once done, just make sure to set it as the default printer, and then click Finish.

Your printer 968 must now act as it should as a fully functional printer.  In fact, when printing or scanning, you will now see a progress bar pop-up at the bottom box to the right of your screen.  But I will add this, when you load the all-in-One Center and choose to not remove the XPS driver, you will be asked which printer to use, as you have it now two printers (drivers) installed on this port.

And so I leave you with this... PRINT HAPPY!

  • Dell 968 AIO printer does not work

Original title: I keep having trouble with my printer not print or fill jobs...

I continue to have pain with my printer, a Dell 968 AIO, not print and fill jobs. I have to uninstall the printer and reinstall to get it working again. (It works for a while though!) But now when I try to re - download, it downloads everything except the driver. I went to Dell for the most recent driver, but it won't just download, nor will Windows Update driver for the printer.  I even tried stopping Zone Alarm and also clean and the spool to the printer is restarted. It will work for awhile but then it starts just new!  My next step will be to throw it out the window...

I have Google Chrome with Zone Alarm antivirus and Windows 7-64 bit. Is this a problem with Windows 7? I ask because I have Vista on my laptop and you don't have problems with my printer.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • Reference Dell 968 AIO, Windows 7 on Dell Studio XPS - messed up

I have a Dell 968 AIO which was printing on the use of pilots (probably the original) on my Dell XPS Studio 8000 Win 7 pc, a week ago. He stopped printing a few days ago.

I assumed the problem was the drivers and not the ink. So I tried to install the new drivers. It does not solve the problem. Indeed, the new drivers would not install completely. When he got to the last step of the installation the Setup program just hung. More on this in a minute.

I bought new ink cartridges and allowed me to test the 968 printer and it prints very well now.

However, when I tried to print a document from the computer.

I tried to uninstall the old drivers and reinstall new drivers. Unfortunately, I got the USB cable is plugged. So I have messed up, and it would not print. He could not "locate the file. I tried after I unplug the USB stick and a running registry cleaning. Still no luck, but worse, I noticed that the installers had left a lot of luggage around.

    • There is a folder c:/dell/drivers/986, which seems to have a lot of the old drivers.
    • There was a folder c:/program files (x 86) /Dell AIO Printer 968
    • And there is also a folder c:/program files (x 86) (x 86) /Dell 968 AIO Printer.

I followed the steps for a clean uninstall, and it is where I am now. However, there a lot of carrying files around in Dell matter folders on my hard drive.

I'm sure I made a complete mess of things, can anyone help?

    Wendy

    Wendy,

When you reinstalled the operating system, have you installed the desktop system software / laptop (as appropriate) and drivers from the chipset first? If this is not the case, the rest of the drivers will not install. How to download and install drivers in the correct order

Start with the computer system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

Once you have corrected, then we can work on the printer.

First run, delete print jobs to eliminate any print job stuck in the queue.

    Unplug the printer.

Download and run the patch (cleaning printer utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure that the printer is deleted. Driver Manual printer removal

Download the 32-bit drivers for Vista for Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64 bit Vista. Install the Vista drivers in Vista compatibility mode, you will get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at the moment (power on).

You will find links to the patch/drivers to...
