A discrete video card selection guide

Hello.. I need to know if the graphics card "card Asus STrix-GTX960-DC20C-4GD5-Graphic" is properly suited to my system "HP Pavilion 500-222ix" with Memphis S micro-atx motherboard. It's a video card double slot and I do not know he'll go nice and easy, but kindly confirm so that I can go ahead and buy it.

@Mr-LogiCkal, welcome to the forum.

If it's the video card you want to buy, it should fit without any problem.  It's only 8,47 "length.  However, it will take a power supply (PSU) upgrade, too.  The power supply of the computer is only 300W and does not have the extra power cable (power consumption: up to 150W-1, additional 6-pin PCIe consumption) required by the card.  I love Corsair products and recommend at least 500W; 600W would be even better.  A modular power supply is good for smaller cases.  This allows you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary, create better air circulation.

I use vostro 430 with Nvidia GeForce GT 220, im confused about which cards are compatible with my motherboard, I couldn't find my motherboard on the internet features.

Is anyone know supports my motherboard PCI - E 3.0, 192 bit GDDR5 cards?

IM interested with GeForce GTX 650 Ti boost. is this one works with my system?

    Hi armanbicakci,

Yes, the system motherboard supports video cards PCI X 16 PCI Express 2.0 and comes with power supply 350w.  NVidia GeForce GTX 650 needs 400w power supply with PCI Express 3.0.

You may need to buy a 400W PSU. The card can downgrade and will operate at 2.0 speed.  Reference Dell configures the following video cards on this system model:

    ATI Radeon HD4350

  • Inspiron 3537 discrete video card

Hello! I just bought a laptop Dell Inspiron 3537. Got a problem or a question, I don't know what it is exactly :) Thus, the laptop comes with pre-installed Win8.1. Of course, I deleted and installed Win 7 x 64 ultimate instead. I found and installed all necessary drivers, everything looks OK, but there is a mismatch in the material - all descriptions of the laptop I found on the Internet, including the Dell site, claim that it is equipped with integrated Intel graphics and discreet AMD 8670HD or 8850HD discreet card. But after the installation of the latest Catalyst driver package States in Device Manager that discreet video is card AMD R9 M265X. I wonder if it is due to a buggy driver or it is possible that I have mentioned in the last card? Thanks for the help in advance.

AMD was renumbering its GPU like A7 or A9 of the end - the 8850HD is the R9 M265x.

  • Upgrade the video card

I have a HP Pavilion h9-1187 windows 64 - bit pc with nvidia GeForce GT 530 by default.  I need to upgrade the video card, but this motherboard has only one of pci express 16 3.0 slot.  Almost all decent video cards require two slots.  I guess that most cards except those in the crossfire, two cards together configuration, must the two slots.  Most of the time, I guess the seller asking two slots due to the space.  Remove the CAP from my pc and possibly void the warranty, can someone tell me what video card width this pc may take.   I have the motherboard COMPANY PEGATRON, the default value.  If you care to recommend a video card decent all 250-300us about feel free.  Thank you. Apologies, but as a newbie I also posted this in the hardware section of the bureau of the forum as well.  I'll delete the entry that is in the wrong part of the forum.

When a card is listed as having "two slots", this means only that he would hold the PCIe x 16 location and regardless of the slot is adjacent. It does not require a connection to more than the PCIe x 16 slot. Looking at the photo below, the long black slit under the "IPMMB-FM" is the PCIe x 16 graphics card slot. "The slot short slot needs to be empty, then the '2 locations' map can adapt it without connection to this.

Almost any card graphics PCIe 2.0, 2.1 or 3.0 will work on your computer. Please look at these PCIe x 16 graphics cards for a selection in your price range. Please see Guide of Dave_G of a discrete video card selection of useful information on the subject.

  • Can I install a 2nd video card on my HP Pavilion a6683w desktop PC to allow me to use 2 monitors?

I want to extend my desktop using 2 monitors.  My HP Pavilion a6683w Destop PC has only a port monitor.  I'm wanting to run 2 monitors on it and I was wondering if it is possible to install a 2nd video card (the existing one is a NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430).

Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion a6683w. According to specifications, your computer uses an nVidia GeForce 6150SE integrated graphics card and also supports PCI Express x 16 graphics cards. Integrated graphics card is not available if a graphics card is installed. In addition, specifications, your computer has a 250 watt power supply. Most of the retail graphics cards will require a minimum of a 300 Watt power supply.

    From the information above, I think you have two options;

    (1) according to your needs, more an adapter USB-to-video, such as EVGA UV + UV39. This adapter is available on Newegg.com, Amazon.com, and as well as many EVGA.com to other places. It is possible that another brand/model will work as well. This solution is good for day trading, spreadsheets, word documents, web browsing, etc.

    (2) If you do heavy gaming or graphic treatment, I suggest an upgrade of power supply and graphics card. For more information on this topic, see Guide of Dave_G for a discrete video card selection .

    Windows 7. 64 bit OS

A Nvidia GT430 or GT520 is better than a 300 watt power supply will manage. If you want a better graphics card than Nvidia or any Radeon HD card you willl need a more powerful power supply. • Possibility to get a new video card and power supply

Hey everyone just curious if someone could lend a hand with some questions I have.

I currently have a HP Pavilion Elite

    Model number: HPE-171f

    OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Recently, I was looking around in my computer and I realized that I only have a 460w power supply. From the beginning, I knew I had to get a new power supply if I wanted to update my video card.

But then I realized that there are a few constraints of size with the case. I was curious if one of the most recent as the GTX 670 Nvidia cards or 660 (when it releases) would fit in this case. With a power supply.

I know it's an older case so with this question, I was wondering if its even possible/chip just to upgrade the card video and PS.

    Thanks for the help

Yes, you can update your map graphics and power for something bigger. The CX500, CX600 Corsair are highly recommended, are favorites of the forum and are known to adapt to most cases of HP. With a length of about 9.5 inches, the graphics card GTX 670 can be tight but feasible in your case... measure along the x 16 PCIe slot and look for potential problems. According to the specifications of your system has an expansion slot PCIe x 16 for use with a graphics card. Also, the specifications indicate that your system came with a 250 watt power supply, which will eliminate almost all graphics cards retail. Most retail cards require a 300 watts or more power supply. The Corsair CX500 and CX600 are highly recommended and known to adapt in many cases of HP. • custom update video card in Windows vista

Well here is my problem, I recently started to play games on my PC but every time I try to launch a game, I'm down market square of steam, it tells me to update my video card driver and redirects me to this site http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect. After I scan my computer for updates I navigate through my products and my graphics driver it tellls me this

    A Intel® G33/G31driver current installed Build 7.15.10.1608 detected product

A custom computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update utility is not able to update the driver. Install a generic Intel driver instead of the driver from the computer manufacturer custom can cause technical problems. Contact yourcomputer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer.

So, how do I change that?

    Johnny, welcome to the forum.

When a help request, you must always include the brand / model of the computer or the monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications for them.

HP has its video designed especially for them cards run with other OEM components.  Therefore, the driver is custom.  That's why the Intel driver will not work.

If you want to play games on the computer, I suggest upgrading to a discrete video card.  This will eliminate the need for video to share system memory.  You will see an increase in the performance of the system and games will work much better.

    Hello

There really should not do much for your PC otherwise to remove any existing discrete video card and replace it with the 7950, since you have already replaced the power supply.  You will need to plug the PCI-E power connectors.

    What exactly did you remove?

  • P7-1414, adding a video card

I would add a PNY NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 610 graphics card to this computer. It requires only a 300W PSU, so I should be good in this regard. I was in the bios but does not know how to disable the onboard video. the system runs Win8 and has 8 G of ram. Any ideas?

The BIOS automatically disables the embedded video when it detects a properly installed and powered in the PCIe x 16 slot discrete video card. In addition, you will need to ACTIVATE 'Secure Boot' and 'Legacy Support' in the BIOS before the computer will start with a video cardinstalled compatible no UEFI.

Before installing new video card, make your changes in the BIOS and turn off the computer. Then, install the video card and turn on the computer.

  • Best gaming video card, I could put in 660 Dell i5-3330 model: i660-5629BK, WITH a PS upgrade

I had a Dell 660 i5-3330 model: i660-5629BK for my son and he began to play with it a lot of.

The 660 Dell came with a 300w PS but no leg power to fuel a discrete video card if it was installed.  So I installed a 400w to try the below map.

I tried this week a SAPPHIRE 100366 - 2L Radeon R7 260 X 2 GB 128 - bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support video Card.  It has the smallest form factor and fits easily.  But for some reason I couldn't make it work.  Finally it seemed just DOA.  So I'm back.  Maybe another one of those.  But if you've heard talk about this card not working with 660 chime please.  I tried powering with a 400w PS, maybe that it was part of the problem as Newegg site said to use 500w.  But we never even played games on it as it just would not work.  Lit black screen thereafter not to send any signal on the screen.  Also had problems with the installation of the Catalyst software.  At one point, the map seems to work but once was more Catalyst is installed the screen went "on black" and that he would not recover.  Then, when I uninstalled and tried again it was as if no signal at all was going to the screen, as if I had disconnected the DVI cable.

Anyway, what other cards could fit the 660?  I'm ready to go more powerful if the card would fit this case. I am also prepared to buy a PS with a higher power.  My son is really getting into the PC game and I would make him a good video card.

    Recommendations and ideas?

All power 400W made in the land of we type the power output on the outside, up to 150W to 400W power upgrade is not going to work.  You need a certified EPS12v power supply.  $29 or less power supplys are fake and can burn everything in your system.

A DELL Inspiron 660 (i660-5629BK) desktop PC Intel Core i5 3330 (3.00 GHz) 8 GB DDR3 1 TB drive HARD Windows 8 capacity will also the question of having to be out of secure boot Mode with MCS and legacy Option Rom is enabled in the bios.

There is no upgrade for the 660 aka no Tower of power.

    Antec 650 are fine.

Some versions capacitors prevent you a gpu goes completely into the outlet.  But these cards also have the problem of the length.

12-inch long maps are not physically possible.

  • installed pes 2013 on laptop when you select game get error message "video card does not meet the required specifications (GPU:VRAM 128 MB)" can anyone help?

installed pes 2013 on laptop when you select game get error message "video card does not meet the required specifications (GPU:VRAM 128 MB)" can anyone help?

This means what he says.  You do not have the minimum required VRAM.
The minimum specs for the game is listed as 128 MB of VRAM, but is supposed to work
on the graphics card integrated Intel 2000/3000.
The amount of VIDEO memory dedicated on laptops is apparently determined by the FAB of the laptop.

Without knowing which laptop, or if it is one that has a dedicated graphics card, I guess that your laptop uses integrated graphics that devotes too little of VRAM (64 MB?),
If it does not the minimum requirement of 128 MB of VRAM.

  • selection of a video card

We have a 6674y Pavilion with an operating system of Windows 7 64 - bit and a HD4200 graphics card.  I want to upgrade the video card series Radeon 6700 or a compatible card.  I don't know how to say exactly if this card would work in the computer or not.  Also, I know that I have to upgrade the power supply.  I'm buying a 600 Watt power supply.  How will I know if a video card will be compatible with this system?  I'm not very computer.  I'm just a MOM trying to do a video game works better for my son to tween.  How will I know if I need an AGP or PCIe card?  Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

    MOM.

You can check the specifications of your computer HERE and the motherboard HERE. Almost any PCIe x 16 graphics card should work on your computer as long as it fits physically and the power supply delivers the minimum power recommended for the graphics card.

  • HP Pavilion a1640n: install a new nVidia video card

I just bought a GeForce 9400 GT from nVidia video card to upgrade my HP Pavilion a1640n running Windows XP SP3.  The a1640n has integrated the video and says nVidia user guides: "If your motherboard has integrated video card integrated, you may need to disable first, please contact your system or motherboard manufacturer."

My questions: do I have to first disable the integrated graphics subsystem?  If so, how?  Are there jumpers on the motherboard or the I disable in BIOS or in Windows Device Manager or...?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello:

There is no video settings to change in the BIOS normally on the HP PC. There are no riders to pass.

What you want to do is to first uninstall the drivers of your graphics integrated in the Device Manager. Just right click on the match video and select uninstall.

Do not restart the computer. Instead, stop it and install your new video card. Re-turn on your PC. Your new video card should be detected automatically and your integrated graphics should be disabled automatically.

Don't forget to move your video cable on the new map.

If you purchased a card with HDMI output, your integrated sound card will probably disabled in favor of audio HD integrated on the video card.

Don't worry there. Go into your BIOS if your sound is turned off and change your audio settings embedded auto to "Enabled". Save the setting it by hitting the F10 key and there still when you go out.

Your integrated sound card should be back, and you'll also audio HDMI when you need.
