A KeepAlive is possible and it would kill your battery?

I am currently evaluating a feature of Microsoft Exchange named streaming Notifications

Basically, he keeps an open socket connection to receive messages from the server.

I wonder if it would be

(a) be possible to implement

and

(b) kill your battery by blocking the INACTIVE State of the radio

Persistent sockets will have an impact on the battery life.  I don't have the stats to say how much, but you can control how the application battery life consumes in the monitor of the device (settings, App Manage, monitor of the device).

The operating system must support this fine, but the biggest variable is the network that you log on.  If the network includes rules to disconnect the plug after X minutes, you need to keep reconnecting.  If you are just using a business WiFi network may not be a problem, but some carriers and WiFi networks can disconnect these on you.
