Password BIOS user comments

Hi all

I have a 14 ZBook on which I set a password for the guest user from the BIOS. Accidentally, I lost this password and now I can't access anything in the BIOS. Is it possible to reset the password for the guest user?

Thank you

H. Moraes

Hello

If you do not have access to the account administrator Bios, can't remember your Guest password and do not have HP SpareKey installation you need to Contact HP Business support.

Kind regards

  • Password BIOS, user still can set HARD drive password

I have laptop computers at school that should be locked so that students can't change anything as to lock the hard drive.

When you set the BIOS password it has the ability to set a password for the 'controller' and 'user '.
I put a BIOS password under supervisor and I did not have one for the user as if I, students will not be able to pass through without putting a BIOS password.

After you set the password, you are still able to get to the BIOS by pressing F11 in the BIOS option to get the option of limited menu BIOS. Students have the option to lock the hard disk, even if the BIOS password is set.

I updated the BIOS later and who has not solved this problem.

Is there anyway to lock the BIOS completely but do it so people can still connect to the laptop?

    > I put a BIOS password under supervisor and I did not have one for the user as if I, students will not be able to pass through without putting a BIOS password

You have not set the BIOS password but set you the supervisor password.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/FAQ9202JF0000R01.htm
The BIOS supervisor password protects the BIOS settings.
If the BIOS password would be fixed, the laptop could not be started without this password.

    > After the definition of the password, you are still able to get to the BIOS by pressing F11 in the BIOS option to get the option of the BIOS menu limited.

    It is correct.
If the supervisor password has been set, you can still access the BIOS, but the settings are limited and not all options can be changed.

  • Satellite A100 is locked because of the fingerprint BIOS & user password

    Hi all

I have my A100 to my work, recognition of the TouchChip fingerprint a year ago. On initial installation, I recorded my fingerprint of the windows interface.
Six months ago I had to reinstall windows XP due to infection by the virus that is not repairable. I have installed Windows XP Home edition and downloaded all the drivers and additional software from Toshiba's site.

I him didn't record again my fingerprints, and I have NOT activated the TouchChip software this time. My problem was only an annoying message at the time the sign that said «you have not saved your fingerprint again...» "and that's it.
After a 2 week out of town trip (My A100 was locked in my office, and powered OFF - no connection to the sector) at first start, software TouchChip is back from the dead!

Screen 'TouchChip Bios Extension' appeared after plugging, and my finger is required to load WXP!
When connecting user WXP dialogue the additional message "you have not saved your fingerprint again... is always here, but I cannot start the machine without my fingerprint." After some digging later in PowerProtector (?) I found an option that says 'enable or disable the use of fingerprints for system and user password BIOS' or something like that.

I turn this off, and the machine asked to reboot. It was the last time I saw the office.
After reboot, the system asks password. BUT I DID NOT PUT ANY SYSTEM OR USER PASSWORD!
    Is this possible?
    I did something wrong?
    What is the solution?
I'm locked out; I don't know why and how the BIOS is locked with a password (so I can't unlock it).
    Please someone help.

    Best regards, Georgios

I don't know what exactly A100 computer laptop you have, but it seems that the laptop came with the Vista operating system preinstalled.

You have installed XP and drivers XP only from the Toshiba page.
But from my understanding, the BIOS should be updated too! The Satellite A100 series supports a special XP BIOS version. If the BIOS was not updated the laptop might not run correctly.

I don't know if it could have a negative influence on the fingerprint, but nothing is impossible!
However, the fact is that the BIOS asks for the password. If you don't know this, you need to remove the other... and this can be done by a service provider authorized in your country.

Request assistance from technicians and explain the whole story! Maybe they will remove the password for free!

    Bye and good luck

  • How to remove/reset password BIOS on my Satellite A350D?

    Hi all,

Unfortunately (but "strangely" especially!) my Toshiba Satellite a350d - 20 k PSALME-01D00RIT does not not recognize the BIOS password. It's the same password never. I used it for 9 months each time in order to allow the start of the laptop.

However, it is a couple of days since she decided that now that password is incorrect. After having tried and tried, I finally decided to put the HDD on another computer as external drive in order to continue with my work... but here it is the panic: none of the computers I've tried is actually able to read the data on the disk!

After spending a certain time frozen in panic, I returned to myself and start to ask around to figure out the problem. Someone said that the wrong BIOS password has something to do with the fact that I can not read my disk outside this laptop: you know, it's a kind of average security.

However, the only thing he cares about me is that at the same time, I can't use my laptop and I can't use my data outside of my laptop.

    So, my questions are:
    (1) this model of laptop has this kind of password BIOS-protection also affecting my drive?
    (2) the BIOS password reset will solve the problem?
    (3) how to reset the BIOS password anyway?
    (4) how to recover my data on this hard drive of reading?

    Waiting for any comment.
    Thank you very much!
    Kind regards.

    Hey guys

BIOS password is very important security feature and we can not debate on this subject on a public forum, especially the Forum of Toshiba. Following your logic all stolen but with notebook BIOS password can be unlocked.

Now when I turn on my laptop, the message "Enter Current Password" appears. I put my old password... "invalid password", just press ENTER. "invalid password". I have not forgotten the password, I just wanted to remove the password and now I don't know what is happening. How should I do for that matter?

The problem has been resolved. I have been using the numeric keypad and when I put the password I used the figures in "regular keyboard. I didn't know it's the difference in the number 9, for example, by using the numeric keypad and the "regular" keyboard

  • reset password for user profile

someone hacked my password of user profile and I can't reset it. can someone offer me an efficient way to solve this problem?

    Here you go:
    1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
    2. Start the computer with your Windows 7 repair CD.
    3. Press a key when prompted to boot from the DVD.
    4. Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
    5. Select 'Repair' when prompted.
    6. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
    7. Configure Windows to a point before the machine hacked.
    8. Plan ahead a little and create, test and document an alternative admin account, same as you have a spare emergency House key. If you now then you might solve your problem in less than a minute.

Do you hear the names and passwords in the password manager or do you mean that you are connected is no longer on to (remember to) Web sites after the closing and restarting Firefox?

There is a difference between remembering the name and the password in the password manager and a check box "remember me" on a web page.

The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and which is sent to the server.

If that "remember me" cookie is deleted or is corrupted or is not send to the server, then the server remember that you and you must connect once again.

  • How can I change/remove password BIOS on Satellite A300?

I have a satellite A300-1BZ running Windows vista Home premium. For some reason, there intermittentlystarted requesting a password of BIOS or boot when I turn on. I have never put this password myself and have no idea how or where to look to remove it.

I can turn on if I remove the battery without asking for the password, but if I shut off and turn on again, then it asks again. Advice apprecieated.

    Thank you.

The history is somewhat strange. Cannot set password BIOS only.
Is anyone else using your laptop?

    > I can light up if I remove the battery without asking for the password, but if I shut off and turn on again, then it asks again.
To be honest I don t understand this. If you just understand that you can use your laptop and bypass the BIOS password if you turn the notebook on power only, right?
But with the battery inside it start and ask BIOS password?
