A Magsafe 85w power adapter would be detrimental to my MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010)

Hi all!

I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).

Well, after years of abuse, the thinner rope (which connects to the Macbook) began to tear. I tried to drag an above shrink wrap to fix and make it last a little longer, but now I find myself stirring the rope around so he can start loading.

in any case, I found a company after-market on Amazon called Supsun making (link below) and recently purchased a. He said that going to work with my Macbook, but I think not even check what power mine use and after he woke up, I found out mine originally a 60w.

Will this hurt Magsafe Supsun 85w power adapter my mid 2010 13-inch Macbook in anyway?

I thank you for all your comments!

I, personally, look at the price difference and ask myself I'd be sad if I saved money and things did not work well.

Review, carefully, then users of the product review.

  • Does someone have a MagSafe 2 power adapter whose serial number is located inside the space where the two pins?

    Hi guys!

I want to know if the power adapter of MagSafe2 that I just bought is genuine or counterfeit.

I bought a MagSafe2 power adapter that has its serial number located inside the space where the two pins. Its model # is A1424. All the power MagSafe adapters I've seen always have serial number located under the round metal head big (I guess it's called head male or female?). Please see photo for reference.

If any of you have or had any Apple Store, can you let me know?

    Thank you!

My 85 Magsafe is exactly identical to your image.   It was 'inside the box' with a new MBP computer.

    Laptop Toshiba computers use a 19 V or 15 V adapter.
You must first check the specifications of your laptop before connecting an AC adapter.
But I would always use AC adapter provided with the laptop or an original part recommended by Toshiba

Looks like you have is connected wrong charger (you have an older Mac in the House?) or the charger has been damaged. Perhaps the magnetic head is damaged.

You have another mac or a friend with a mac that has the same charger if you can try that?

You can certainly buy replacement chargers, but I recommend that ensure you it is the charger that is the first problem to avoid spending money. If this is a problem with the port on the Mac, then a replacement charger will not help.

If you don't have a 2nd charger to test, you can take your Mac at the Apple Store or your local electronics store that sells Macs and ask to try the plug one of their display models.

  • MagSafe 85W defective twice 2 each period of 1 year

I have the model of MacBook Pro retina 15 inch end 2013 mono GPU, and it's 2 MagSafe 85W power adapter is defective for the 2nd time in one year. The original one supplied with the MBPr was faulty, a year after I bought my MBPr in June 2014, so I bought a new around 2015 Center local apple Store and it cost about $150 here. And now may 11, 2016, this 2nd MagSafe, bought also died. stop working without any reason. same as the first. I am so confused and obviously really disappointed. I use all my macs and it's accessories in normal behavior in normal conditions, as suggested.

4 hours earlier it was working fine at my desk, then I went home and discovered that it does not work! Usually, I put my MBP and power adapters on a bag 15-inch fitted with compartments from safe for mac, no dust, no magnetic items. and it connects to the same normal power source (without equipment high voltage or line noise) AC as every day. But this time I heard clicking / popping sound on the main support unit. So I'm sure that its defective.

What I have tried workaround was:

    all with no luck.

The only thing that works uses my MagSafe Macbook Air 45W 2 for my MacBook Pro 15 inches for the moment. So, I know that my MBP is fine. I contacted Apple Support via Twitter, they respond. But since I did the test all troubleshooting they can only advise to bring the bad Apple's Service Provider MagSafe2 (I think that they will offer no work around that I can't find on the net, and I think that the repair cost will be the same as buying a new)

I clearly understand the technical side and the value of the accessories of a computer, it didn't is not on "just buy a new" or just bring it to the service provider. But what I want to discuss here is one of you having the same problem? If there are a number of you have the same problem, means that this could be a serious case that must be addressed by Apple. Having 2 times faulty MagSafe 2 is enough for me.

in any case, I'd love to hear your opinion, workarounds, nothing about this MagSafe 2, what is the best way to avoid it happening again. I really hope this would be the last time I have problem with $150 (in Asia) 2 MagSafe.

  • Questions to power MacBook Pro 15 "

My MacBook Pro is getting pretty old (8 almost 9 years), and at that age, he has some weird problems. I already talked to Apple about this and they can't pin point the issue... all they know is that it is NOT a software problem. Basically, my computer has some weird and random hiccups

    Data sheet:

MacBook Pro (15 inch, late 2008)

    OS: El Capitan 10.11.4

Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    RAM: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

    Chart: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M 256 MB

Hard drive: 320 GB Toshiba HDD

    Questions:

    • Stops at Midway during the start unless constantly, you press a key on the keyboard
    • Request chance to stop, restart, sleep in the pop window crept up I pressed the power button and will stop if Cancel is not pressed within 5-10 seconds
    • Randomly goes to sleep and stop unless you immediately wake up
    • Stop when the lid is closed (insomnia will not fix it... list of things I've tried is planned)
    • Caps lock light does not work (possibly related)
    • The lighting is uneven in lighting (possibly related)
    • Reader superDrive cannot read, write or view the disks on the desktop (possibly related)

    Solutions, I tried (but not):

    • Reset the NVRAM
    • Replacing the HARD drive
    • Installation of insomnia
    • Reinstall OS X
    • Boot Safe Mode
    • Disk check and repair authorization

I have no idea what to do and I don't want to make a new MacBook. If any of you can help or tell me what the problem is it would be greatly appreciated. If worst comes to worst I'll bring to a local Apple certified repair shop and get it looked at. I don't get a new computer (if it is repairable and not as compensation of $500). I want to wait until the computer is 2 years late. And yes I know the MacBook will not be able to get MacOS Sierra 10.12.0 in the fall, I'm willing to wait for OS X 10.14.0 (2018) to get a new Mac.

    Please try resetting the SMC.

    http://www.TomsHardware.com/reviews/power-supply-specifications-ATX-reference, 3061 - 12.html

First, it is important to know that there is another interface "6 to 8 pins" which is a feature of power-for - motherboard power ... you don't want that, sure, and connectors plastic is having different shapes.  You can see that he has 4 yellow wires (usually the supply wires) and would not have the sequence of correct wiring of a PCIe 6 to 8 pins supplementary power converter:

I don't know the show, too, is not what you want.  This looks like an 8 pin to two adapter 6 pins.  You want a 6-pin to 8 pin adapter.  Is attached another picture of the nVidia type tells you to do.  If you look at the hyperlink at the top of this post you will find the wiring of 6 pins on 8 wire and for your project, you will probably want to follow the advice of nVidia for best results.  There is power to the ground and 'sense' son to all be correctly connected to the adapter.

There is also some PCIe additional adapters that allow you to convert several sheets supply 4 son "molex" grouping in a single 6-pin PCIe or connector 8.  It is best to not do this if you have a power with official ones built in.  Your the fact, and to check the manual, it looks like your top rated power supply has 3 of these auxiliary PCIe power cords (G1, G2 and G3 will be printed on the side of the end of your 3 card).  On the other hand, offer reduced rated power of the Z820 has only 2 additional PCIe (auxiliary) cords supplied by it.

I don't know if you are forced to use a good 6-8 converter or could if away with plug 6 pin right in the correct position on the plug 8 pins of your videocard directly, according to article of the hyperlink.  I, personally, would get an adapter.

EDIT: Here is a picture of two ends of what is supposed to be a PCIe 6-pin supplementary power adapter PCIe 8 pins.  The first and third power pins 6 pins are officially DC 12v (some references have each of the first 3 pins being 12vDC) and subsequently, the rest are supposed to be a 'sense' or earthed.  When I look at the plug 8-pole end wiring I do not see a ground wire or ground jumper coming to pin 8.  I would not recommend it, unless I'm wrong about his son:

  • Satellite A300 may depend on from when the power adapter plugged

    Hello

I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite A300 when the laptop is connected to the power adapter I have no possibility to turn it on, it's only 2-3 seconds once it comes down.
When Toshiba is enabled with the battery power and I tried to connect the adapter it also goes down.
I have no problem with the charge itself, but only with working with AC adapter.

Please help me what can I do with this problem, does anyone has similar problem?

    Hello!

For me it sounds like a hardware failure of the motherboard if the AC/DC adapter is plugged and the laptop is turned on

I don't know but how best to m would be if you go to the authorized service provider nearest with the AC/DC adapter. Technicians can check your laptop and swap the motherboard if it of really necessary. The guys are very friendly and helpful!

  • My Satellite goes into battery mode despite being connected to the power adapter

Y at - there anyone out there who can help me, please!

I bought a Satellite a couple of years ago which worked well for a while - however, it has started to overheat a lot and kept stop without reason. After many searches on the net, I discovered that the fans were very likely blocked with dust? After you clean the laptop worked like a dream and as a Bunny happy I was!

However, now a new problem has been its ugly reappearance - for some weird reason the laptop suddenly, without warning, past in dominant mode of battery despite being connected to the power adapter? He refuses to "acknowledge" that the adapter is plugged drains the battery quickly and then stops?

I tried once more looking for an answer and it seems that I am not alone in suffering from this problem? I read that it is perhaps a bad connection between the adapter and the motherboard, but it would be expensive to fix? Others have said to try a new adapter, but I tried from another laptop and it still happens? I hesitate to implement local repair because sometimes, this problem may occur after half an hour and other times, that won't happen for hours and hours and it is difficult to explain the problem?

There seems to be no rhyme or reason, but to crazy me on a regular basis!

    HI Deb,

It is a common problem and can have several causes. The most common are a common defective soldering on the motherboard (where the socket is attached) and it can also be caused by a bad connection between the AC plug (at the end of the cable) and the socket on the laptop.

Unfortunately, the standard response from most repairers is just to replace the motherboard, probably because it's faster for them and produced more revenue that comes to fix the connection.

I solved this problem on my SA30 by pinching the cable ca to the back of my laptop in order to prevent any movement or tension on the connector. Unfortunately this will not help if the socket is already damaged, but it can reduce the incidence of the problem to occur.

    Kind regards
