Tecra S3 and the replacement DVD drive

Hello

Portable model is Tecra S3 PTS30A-03E008
DVD disc model is UJ - 832
DVD player reference number is G8CC0002Q120

The DVD drive no longer works and I'm looking to install a new one. Is the Toshiba Ultra Slim Bay DVD SuperMulti Drive
Part number - PA3473U-1DV6 the correct replacement drive?

Thank you

Warren

As I see in the paper manuals for your Tecra s user I can see two optical disk drives are listed as compatible:
MATSU * A UJDA765
MATSU * A UJ-832

Reference numbers are not known to me, but I recommend you to use only compatible devices.

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the set of operations which solves
    the question.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

  • Tecra 9100: After the CD/DVD drive upgrade IDE #1 error apears

    Hello!

I'm a happy user of Toshiba laptops, and I like my Tecra is even older. My setup is a PIVm 2.0 Ghz and a few days, I changed the HARD drive. This isn't THE PROBLEM.

Now, I have a 80 GB Seagate HDD and works very well. Days ago, I bought a DVD - RW, H - L space (Hitachi-LG) GWA-4082N, origin of another towing specifications.

When I boot the IDE #1 ERROR message is displayed. In windows works fine, recognized as the secondary Slave PIO mode only. I am integrating then, I searcehd the web and found solutions.

I've read on C - SALT and reversed the master/slave issue. I downloaded a firmware for Toshiba, same version for my DVD but nothing. In my opinion, is for Toshiba, but not for this model. So I tried the solution of jumper pins 45 & 47. 47 pins Cable sync/select and 45 is identical to 48 GND.

The solution is good half. I started the laptop and does not work, no more ERROR IDE. In windows is now secondary master UDMA Mode. Works very well...

THE PROBLEM: it's that I turn off the laptop, pick up the DVD, battery and Commander edge and when I reconected all back, the #1 ERROR IDE is sown again :(((.) Therefore, works, but sometimes it is not. What is the problem? Even with the 45 & 47 pins the message. I have readit pins 35, 36 is something CSEL0, CSEL1...

I do more short films? Or where I can find a good firmware for my drive or the software to mass the firmware...

Please read this post and I hope you can help me!

    Hello

As you already know not all ODD is compatible with a laptop because masters /slave and c - salt settings.
These parameters are controlled by a firmware and most often but not always these firmware located on sites of car manufacturing.

I don't think you'll find this firmware on the Toshiba site. It s recommend buying the good player but don't not to Flash the firmware.

Anyway, I also found the statement on the connection of the PIN 45 and 47 together.
This is a solution in time and not recommended because it will damage the other pins.

  • The CD/DVD drive in my laptop is missing or not detected by my Acer Aspire 4520?

A while ago my laptop Acer fell and the CD/DVD drive pulled after its fall. I thought for sure that it was broken and my laptop. Fortunately it seems not that this was the case and after that put in does what it normally would, the green light would flash and it seemed to work again. However, I never thought not to test with a DVD or CD to see if it actually worked. Is that recently that I started to use CD for games and other and I found the driver to read the discs, but nothing happened thereafter.

Well for some time now, I tried to find a solution to my problem. The driver seems to work, but when it comes to playing the discs it do anything more. Some of my other programs such as Windows Media Player saying that my laptop is missing the driver CD/DVD. I also went to the menu of F2 from the laptop to the startup and after looking around, I find that there is no entry for the CD/DVD drive and that the entry is empty. I'm not sure why my laptop can't detect the drive. I tried many things such as the Microsoft Fix It, but ends up giving me an error saying that some components are not well read or something similar to that.
Any help is greatly appreciated and if there is anything that I can provide for any further help I will do it gladly.
I should also mention that the CD/DVD does not appear in Device Manager.

    Hi Emmanuel,.

It's a hardware problem, your CD/DVD drive is not detected by your computer. I suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

Method 1: Check if your CD/DVD drive is detected in BIOS Basic Input Output System ().

IMPORTANT: BIOS change / oxide of additional metal (CMOS) semiconductor parameters incorrectly can causeserious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Method 2: Follow the steps in the link and check if that helps.

You can also try to contact Acer support and check if it helps.

    Hello

How old is your machine? If you still have your warranty, so why not give your machine to a local service partner?

So if you don t give something on your guarantee you can trade your coins. But to look for the pieces on google and you won´t get any help from toshiba (e.g. manual disassembly or something similar).

I tried long before your request and I made my experience that if you want to open your machine your completely on your own.

    Hello

the device DVD/combined my A100-692 is damaged and I want to replace it.
I found no still no guide how to replace the unit.

    Is there something available?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello!

AFAIK, you must remove the keyboard first, before you can replace the CD/DVD drive. Remove the screws on the lower side, and then you can push the disc if you have replaced the keyboard.
It seems to be a bit tricky

Maybe you should ask a technician for laptop to help. They can replace the CD/DVD drive for you.

    Hello

The cd-burner in my Satellite A100-097 drive begins to age, burns can sometimes fail, sometimes cannot even read simple audio cds.

Can someone tell me if I can replace it with a new and where to find it, finally?

    Thank you

    Hello

Yes, you can replace the CD/DVD drive with a new one.
But be aware that not all of the sides are compatible due to different master/slave/c-salt settings

Manual of use you should find some details about compatible readers and supported
    Check it out
If you have no user manual then go to the Toshiba European page to download.

In addition, you can buy a player of an ASP supported in your country
The guys would be able to order it at Toshiba if necessary.

  • have a lenovo G570 computer and recently lost the cd/dvd drive. What can I do to reinstall?

The cd/dvd drive used to work properly. Now when I put a cd or dvd, it will not engage or start. I can hear him enter and try to start.
When you click on my computer, the drive does not appear.
Don't know how it disappeared. Could be that some Windows Update? or when I installed the new kaspersky (do not think that it was really a cause)
Not a Moody person so don't know what else to do. I did go back and do a restore, but that did not help.
Given that the drive does not work I can not use the original disk, I created when I got the computer. Computer is about 2 years old... maybe a little less.

Oh, the only other possible cause I can think of is when I was wrong with my browser and load my att yahoo account. A representative of ATT spocked in my computer and worked behind the scenes to fix. Has they deleted my firefox and temporary files. Unfortunately I do not know exactly when I lost the cd/dvd drive. At this time, but I can't say for sure.

Let me know if there is something other information that you may need to help solve the problem. Thank you!

Try to scan your computer with RadarSync to find out if your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM driver is out of date or not. You can go for the free version. Once find you that it's really an outdated driver can cause the problem, then you can update the driver by searching in Google it or let the software do it for you.

    I hope this helps!

  • Tecra S5-10 X - CD/DVD drive causes BSOD with new CD not burned.

    Hello!
I have a laptop TECRA S5-10 X with windows XP (downgraded from Vista)

My computer has trouble dealing with discs not burnt from the interface of microsoft. Make a right click on the drive takes more than 20 seconds to answer. After 2 - 3 times (sometimes right the first time) with or without ejecting the disc, I get a blue window of death "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".

I tried the Toshiba DVD Diagnostics passes.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver.
I tried to do repair for windows
I installed service pack 3 for Windows XP
    I've updated the bios
I've also updated the (Microsoft says it might be useful) NvIdia video card driver

    Nothing helps.

I'll be very happy to get any other suggestions that will help me avoid a reinstallation of windows.

    Thax in advance

    H.

I think you should try to remove the top and lowerfilters as Akuma said. This often solves problems with the CD/DVD drive.

In the worst case, you must reinstall Windows.
You also have this problem only with XP or Vista?

I doubt that it is a hardware problem so reinstall Windows could solve it.

  • How can I get the utility auditor of system files (SFC) in Windows XP to search for the source files on a CD in a CD/DVD EXTERNAL drive instead of the CD/DVD drive internal Windows?

I use a Dell Dimension E310 PC running Windows XP Media Center Edition.  The CD/DVD drive has stopped recognizing CD long ago.  (He still recognizes DVD but not CD).  I use an external drive to CD/DVD of Asus.  I keep getting messages that Windows need to replace versions unrecognized some Windows file and asks me to insert my source CD into the CD/DVD drive.  I checked the MS Knowledge Base and got instructions on how to use the utility (SFC) System File Checker to replace the unrecognized Windows files.  I started the process and inserted the source of CD files (recovery CD provided by Dell with the PC when I bought it) in the drive of external CD/DVD, but the SFC would not recognize it it.  He just kept asking me to insert the CD of source files in the CD/DVD drive.  So I have to find a way to get the SFC utility to find files in the external CD/DVD drive source - or I have to take the PC to the Geek Squad, buy a new CD/DVD drive and get them to install it.  Would appreciate any help you can provide.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
