A question about CUDA compatible GPU

After 5 years, I have finally updated my computer tot he new i-7 6700 k 4 ghz quad core processor intel, motherboard Asus Maximus VIII and 32 GB ddr4 RAM. Then I was going to upgrade my GPU of my current GTX GeForce NVIDIA 470 (EVGA) and started looking to the bottom of the list with compatible NVIDIA GPU via the official Adobe site. Just looking through the list and check the price on amazon, it seems most of these cards is no longer available and most are sold as used. This makes it confusing and difficult to decide what GPU to get the next. GPU above $500 are out of my price range at that time and I expected to get something decent for about $300. I was hoping I could get help to be able to choose a good GPU which will work with CUDA in the first and will not be too expensive.

Thank you

GTX 960 or 970 would be good options.

  • Question about CUDA and SLI

So, I know that SLI makes no difference in the first, but my question is - does it has harmful effects? For example, if I have two GTX580s SLIed on my system, is it I always get all the benefits a CUDA in the first card or the SLI will reduce somewhat the effect?  Ideally, I would like to have a system with CUDA support and a 3 monitor configuration.  As far as I KNOW, with Nvidia cards, the only way to get three monitors is to have two cards in SLI.

I think that you would break the connection SLI to get first and MPE even work at all.

This statement is incorrect.  I ran two nVidia cards and no identical cards in my system for a demo of three monitor.  They're apparenly should use similar or perhaps even the same driver.

  • Question about warranty after exchanges of RAM on Satellite module series

    Hello together,

I have a question about the warranty. My laptop is 5 months old and now I want to improve it with more RAM. I want to do it myself, and now I'm wondering if the warranty will be getting hurt.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Concerning

    TiG3r

For new models of laptops the RAM upgrade described in s operating manuals. It is public act and it shows the owner of the notebook how do RAM upgrade only.

If Toshiba offers something like this he won't have the negative influence of valid warranty.
Buy a compatible module and RAM upgrade.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Satellite L650-11R - a few questions about this

    Hello there :-)

I have a few questions about my new L650.

I've never had Toshiba notebook before so I apologize if some of these "quirks" are actually quite normal on this laptop. I really want to hear the views of other users L650.

    1)
First of all, by the time I turned it on I saw gradient thin (1-2 mm) along the right edge of the screen that goes from the bottom up. Maybe "degraded" isn't the right word, but it seems that since two or three pixels are kind of discoloration or lose brightness/sharpness to the edge along the straight bezel. It is not really that visible, looks like the colors are desaturated a bit here or brightness is a bit lacking. He can be seen everywhere (bios or no color in Windows, but better in the lighter background).
The left side (or other) seems ok, all this along the right edge is somewhat suspicious. If one can compare? I don't know if it's something to worry about or is just supposed to be like that.

    2)
The other thing I noticed heating of the processor (Intel i3 330M) and GPU (ATi Mobility Radeon 5650). It's pretty hot here right now (I would say that the temperature is around 28 degrees Celsius when using cell phones). He is sitting on the hard surface (table) and nothing is blocking the vents.
However, at "rest" (surf the web & regular light stuff), average CPU temp hovers around 58 ° C. It usually goes from 45 to 62 in just a few minutes after starting, and then I can hear and see (Toshiba PC Health Monitor) evacuate the kicks in. Temp goes back to 50 +, event stops and then the temp rises to 60 + until the vent is used again.
During load full (Prime95 or some games), CPU is going all the way up to 75 degrees (the highest being 77). Fan runs at 75 to 77% during this time, never go faster.

GPU idling is usually around 5 degrees above temp CPU (62-65). During full load (for example. Benchmark of Far Cry 2), I see a lot of stuttering with the latest drivers Catalyst and DX10 (not sure if the stuttering has something to do with heat), otherwise it is ok (no artifacts or anything like that). Temp of GPU during the loading goes up to 74-75, fan speed is locked at 30%, the frequency of the heart 5650 is 450 MHz. left side of the laptop (vent and below) is pretty hot, while the keyboard is warm (or slightly warmer who who).

These time seems correct and safe in the long term? I'd rather events works all the time (they aren't really very strong) and keeping time less than 50, but there are just wishful pious bios control events and I can't control not the bios. :-)

    3)
This is just General related products. :-)
Official specifications of Toshiba L650 say ATi 5650 (between other low range GPU), but I saw a few specifications calling for there 5730 (same model 11R). Is there really a Satellite L650 with ATi 5730 GPU models?

Sorry for the long post, I tried to include the best possible description that I could do. :-)

    Thank you in advance.

    Thanks for the additional info!

  • A few questions about the upgrade on Satellite A300-144

Sorry for the typos, English is not my mother tongue.
I want to ask some questions about the upgrade of a300-144.

    * Some info first.*

    CPU: T2370 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/34445/Intel-Pentium-Processor-T2370-1M-Cache-1_73-GHz-533-MHz-FSB]).
    Chipset: GM965 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/29821/Intel-82GM965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller]).

    * Questions.*

    1. my frequency of laptop memory at 533 MHz, supports 667 MHz memory controller, memory modules can work at 667 MHz. Is - this because CPU FSB 533 MHz frequency and new processor at 667/800 MHz FSB will fix it or it is hardcoded in the BIOS?

2 Intel said that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?

3 I know, taken of my CPU is μFCPGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB]) is a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

The speed of the memory is related on the material. This means that the FSB is responsible for the limitation.
If the FSB would allow support 667 MHz then the memory would also at this speed.

    > 2. Intel says that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?
The memory depends on the chipset. So if the chipset supports 4 GB of RAM, you should be capable of this move to 4 GB of RAM

    > 3. I know, my CPU is? FC-PGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 (http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB) will be a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

It might be possible that the new processor would be fully supported by the BIOS, but in most cases it should not be a problem if the chipset would support the new processor.
But as far as I know the upgrade of the CPU is not supported by Toshiba or any other manufacturers of portable and its your own risk to run laptop with the new processor.

  • Satellite A350D - 20K - Question about upgrade second HDD + Temperature

I have a question about my laptop. I have notticed it is a second location of HARD disk on the bottom.
Is it possible to use this to increase my storage?
And if yes, how do I do that? I don't see all the connectors.
What type of HARD drive to use in case it is possible to use this slot machine?

My second question is on my laptop to be very hot after a short period of use.
I installed speedfan to record the temperature. When I start the laptop, it already is between 45 and 50 degrees.
He stayed there for half an hour and then it starts to get warmer. When I start to use the laptop for anything, it triggers to between 70 and 80 degrees.

This does not seem normal to me. I tried to clean the vents with compressed air, but it has not made a difference.
I searched on the internet how to take the laptop part for proparly cleaned TI.
But I can't so I'm looking that destroy it.

This could be the cause and more importantly, how can I solve this problem?

    Tom

The second HARD drive bay contains the HARD drive connectors?
If Yes, then you can use a SATA 2.5 HARD.
If there are no connectors, then you will not be able to use the second HARD drive

    > I have installed speedfan to record the temperature. When I start the laptop, it already is between 45 and 50 degrees. He stayed there for half an hour and then it starts to get warmer. When I start to use the laptop for anything, it triggers to between 70 and 80 degrees.

CPU and GPU produce a lot of heat. The heat dissipation is always created then there s nothing unusual that the temperature rose to higher level.
You can change the settings in Win 7 power management. You can set the CPU to lower performance and can increase the activity of fan, which will help lower the temperature.

  • Question about temperature internal Satellite A300 ND1

    Hello

I have a question about the temperature of the standards it of ok for my laptop and what is the normal temperature and how can I keep it low?

    Thank you.

    Hello

It's not easy to say what a normal temperature could be.
The temperature is not always the same and it depends on the use of the laptop.
Usually, the temperature would increase while gaming or running applications high performance. Why? Because all devices such as the CPU and GPU would focus the heat dissipation and this leads to a higher temperature.

    > How can I keep it low
Very simply, you can keep still low level, but you can make sure there is enough free space around the laptop to ensure good air circulation.
Also don t use the laptop on your knees etc in order do not obstruct cooling fans.

It s also advised to clean the fans from time to time using the jet of compressed air. These sprays are really useful and could buy in the stores of different computers.

    Hello.
Question about video driver. Version 14.25... Works (tells... 945 GM chipset); 14.27--works but with ocassional problems (tells... 945GM/GU); version 14,29... (said 945GM/GU) - does not work at all - black screen, but you can hear sounds which tells that XP does all right.

Why that? And what is GU? Pilot info says it is for 945GM, pilot says he's for 945GM/GU.

All kinds of three said they are for Mobile Intel 945 GM Express chipset. Who initially my machine have said there. In section "video card" my machine said no Intel - some Calg... - don't remember exactly the name.
    Thank you very much.

    Hello

As much as I know Satellite P100-257 supports the graphics card Mobile Intel 945GM. The code name of Intel's GM Calistoga
This is not the same thing as the chipset Intel 945GM/GU. Both are different and so the graphics drivers are not totally compatible!

The Intel page provides some interesting info on these chipsets:

Unfortunately, I have not found anything on the 945GM/GU.

  • A few Questions about the videos on my Sansa Fuze

    Hey all,.

I'm pretty new with my sansa fuze (I only had for about a week), and I have 2 questions about 'videos' on the "rocket"...

Any help in answering these questions would be greatly appreciated!

    So:

First of all, on my sansa fuze, I see 2 folders under the section "VIDÉO", "Audio_TS" and "Video_TS". What are these folders and files ranging in what folder?

Second, I tried to load this video (about 20 min. length) through the Sansa Media Converter on my sansa fuze. Now, when I try to convert my video to a Vob (a kind of file extension), the appropriate file type file (which I suppose is all .mp4), I get a message saying: "It cannot convert, because your Sansa player is not connected" (even though I know I plugged). Is there a way I can get the Sansa converter program around and just use a different software to modify the mjy .mp4 file, or what I need to use the Sansa Media Converter to do?

    Again, any help is appreciated...

    Thank you

OK two records don't matter to you. SMC (or any other program) place the files in there, so you don't need to worry. VOB files are not compatible with SMC, so when you rip the DVD, you must use a program like Any-Video-Converter to create an AVI file or a mpge (my recommendations). Rhapsody will also add videos to the "rocket" as well.

  • Questions about vCSHB 6.5.1 (LAN or WAN and physical vs. virtual secondary server)

    Hello

I have a few questions about vCSHB 6.5.1:

    1) there are two sets of installation guides: one for secondary physical server and a secondary server.

What are the main differences between these two scenarios?

    (2) for vCSHB, there are two deployment options: LAN and WAN

2 (a) which option is most common?

2 (b) If an option (for example, LAN) works in an environment, can I assume that the other would work as well?
And what a difference these two options?

    (3) is vCSHB backward compatible? VCSHB 6.5.1 works in an environment where an earlier version (for example vCSHB 6.4) works?

    (4) what version of vCSHB (e.g. vCSHB 6.5 or 6.4 and 6.3) is widely deployed today?

    Thank you.

    (1) there should be nominal differences - what is different is discussed the virtual network set up against the physical network implemented

2 (a), in my experience LAN configuration is more common because it over a high availability solution oppesed to DR.

2 (b) not necessarily, you should make sure that the appropriate ports are open

    (3) I think it is but you have to bring everything up to a compatible version as a best practice

    (4) I'd go with the latest version as it has been out for a few weeks-

You can use vmware player as a free virtual machine player.

Use vmware converter to convert your servers.

Is not recommneded for convert DCs however, what you might do, it is to build a new one. However, it is possible.

  • Question about DISCHARGE (expr, 1016) function

    Hello

I have a question about the DUMP function, specifically the DUMP (expr, 1016). What character set is the function of report? The only logical answer seems to me the characters of data. The http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17118/functions055.htm#SQLRF00635 docs it says: "by default, the return value contains no character set information. To retrieve the name of character of expr, add 1000 to all the values of previous format. "For example, a return_fmt of 1008 returns the result in octal * and provides the character set name of expr.*.

I ask this question because a client complains that there a database with database EE8MSWIN1250 (obtained from DATABASE_PROPERTIES) characters and when I asked him to run a SELECT that could empty the contents of a column, he gave me this result:
    select dump(some_col, 1016) from some_table;

    Typ=1 Len=8 CharacterSet=AL32UTF8: c5,bd,c5,a0,54,45,53,54
Now I can't imagine how the data can be stored in the AL32UTF8 character set if the characters of the database are EE8MSWIN1250. This scenario is still possible? I tried in vain to reproduce on my test database.

I don't know if the column is defined with the characters of database or the national database characterset, but even if it was a NVARCHAR2, the dump function could not return AL32UTF8 since he is not a national character set.

If anyone has an explanation, I will be very grateful.

Thanks in advance and best regards,
    Swear

    1. to help with the confusion about the DUMP function: index realizes that the DUMP function can be performed in the remote database. Oracle tries to push as many functions as possible and semantically correct on the remote site. Therefore, it sends the statement of simple table on the remote site after stripping the DB link. In this case, the DUMP function sees the character set of the remote database and creates the resulting string of information. This string of AL32UTF8 to EE8MSWIN1250, as described in the note, but as all the characters in the string of information are pure ASCII, some codes are actually changed.

Things get more interesting if you start to combine the tables of local and remote databases. For example, the following query is will normally return the character of local database defined for the two columns:

    select dump(xx,1016),dump(yy,1016) from (select x.dummy xx, y.dummy yy from dual x, dual@dblink y);

This is because the first dual@dblink is transported to the local site and the join is performed here with application of DUMP.

The following query returns the set for two columns of characters in remote database:

    select dump(xx,1016),dump(yy,1016) from (select x.dummy xx, y.dummy yy from dual@dblink x, dual@dblink y);

This is because all the tables are remote and the entire query is sent to the remote database and y.

The following query returns the remote character set thus:

    select dump(xx,1016),dump(yy,1016) from (select /*+driving_site(y)*/ x.dummy xx, y.dummy yy from dual x, dual@dblink y);

Here, the DRIVING_SITE hint asks the database to perform the join in the database of the table, for example dual@dblink.

    2. to answer your question:

Your understanding of the way of conversion is generally correct, but conclusions are not quite correct. In the scenario [client EE8ISO8859P2, EE8MSWIN1250 local database, remote database AL32UTF8], Eastern and Central European characters will work correctly, but the other characters to the remote database will not be (for example, French, Greek, Chinese). It is, I think, quite clear and is usually not a major problem, as usually only compatible languages EE8 are interesting for an EE8ISO8859P2 customer. However, in the scenario [customer AL32UTF8, EE8MSWIN1250 local database, remote database AL32UTF8], the problem becomes more visible. Having a taking customer support Unicode, you can recover some data French or Greeks of the remote database but you will fail as all of these characters will be "killed" by the conversion of distance at the local level (link DB conversion).

EE8ISO8859P2 is also for the same group of languages, such as EE8MSWIN1250, indeed, but it lacks some interesting characters. The most important of them is the symbol of the Euro. Others are "' quotes, long dashes, TM symbol, and a few other less frequently used punctuation. Therefore, always define a database as EE8MSWIN1250, even if you run some clients (Unix) with EE8ISO8859P2. Do not run Windows with EE8ISO8859P2 clients, except for purposes of loading/generation of special file.
