A small question about the design: black on white or white on black

When in a black and white design, a symbol in black on a white background is reflected in the opposite colors, white symbol on a black background seems thicker to me. The image of the sample, the bulb on the right looks like more thick for me.

Are my eyes just poor, or is this an optical illusion?

If it's an optical illusion, in a real design would it be acceptable to the symbol in black on white background really thicker to compensate? An example where something like that could happen would be a coat-of-arms.

Thanks for any ideas you may have for me!

Everything is the same size and scale properly as you can see using leaders... If so, just an optical illusion. If it were me, I'd leave it.

  • Philosophical question about the design of the table

I'm new in the world of RDBMS. I read a lot but have little practical experience. I'm upgrading of old applications that I know well. I'm interested in advice/opinions on a number of issues, from it.

My application periodically (at the discretion of the user, so can be daily, weekly or monthly) should take a snapshot of some data. This snapshot is then used for various activities, such as a control point of reconciliation with external clients - so it must be 'frozen' rather than be derived at a later date. But if the snapshot proved to be a mistake, I can possibly be rerun (crushed) - requiring all lines to delete everything first.

Data must be accessible in different ways, everything would need the date of snapshot to be part of the index or a group of clauses.

Snapshots can be copied or replicated to other servers for purposes to relieve the burden of filing database. Old clichés may be archived, ignored backups of routine, deleted and so on.

Is there a case for the inclusion of the date of snapshot as part of the name of the table? It would simplify the index structures, reduce the size of the individual table, perhaps to improve the competition (for users who access an old cliché while another is being created), facilitate separate archiving and much easier to drop and create table to remove all the lines before a replay. Of course, it reduces the size of the table that could potentially become very large.

However, the previous snapshot is used as a starting point for the following, or a subsequent repeat) you need to be able to quickly determine who is the nearest date start - easy if they are all in 1 table, can be more load trying to determine is whether a specific table at the time to a given date.

I look forward to some expert advice. :)

No--not from a point of view of the data modeling. The snapshot date is an attribute. Attributes are not incorporated in the name of the entity being modeled.

However, you can decide to implement the instant entity tabular instant daily - but the attribute date (column) will always be an attribute. In other words, you must not remove the attribute date as a table column as the table name now.

This decision (implemented as a multi table entity) have meaning when not having is not a better way to manage the physical aspects of the table. Partitioning for example would be a much better option to use - a single partitioned table, containing multiple partitions, where a partition physically contains data for a specific instant day (including the index).

Basically, there is a very clear line between the logical data modeling and the material realization of this model. Oracle provides a bunch of features that you can use on the side of the material realization. As index organized tables. Table of clusters, partitioning and so on. But how you implement the physical model does not dictate the design of the logic model.

However, the previous snapshot is used as a starting point for the following, or a subsequent repeat) you need to be able to quickly determine who is the nearest date start - easy if they are all in 1 table, can be more load trying to determine is whether a specific table at the time to a given date.

I would use a management entity - that describes the metadata for a snapshot. As when it was created, the filter criteria used, the time it took (still useful for performance and troubleshooting purposes), be it an an active/valid capture instant or not - or any other attributes necessarily to manage this logical snapshot as a set of data.

The biggest problem with a physical model that uses separate physical tables for the same entity, it is appropriate to use table name must be determined at run time. This means dynamic SQL. Dynamic SQL means an increase in complexity, open any SQL injection holes, having to deal with errors which would not intervene with static SQL, etc.

If this approach to your data model's physical implementation needs a review carefully to ensure that it works as efficiently and effectively as required.

  • A few questions about the design of Data Guard

Hi, I have a few basic questions around design Data Guard

Q1. Looking at the instructions of Oracle for the creation of a logical standby, he recommends first creating a physical standby and then convert waiting logic. However, I thought that a logical standby might have a totally different physical structure of the primary. How can this be the case if a logical standby first starts his life pending physical (where the structure must be the same)?

Q2. It is a normal practice to back up your database before as well - if yes why?

Q3. Can RMAN back up a database of the day before while he is in the State mounted (rather than opening it)?

Q4. What is the point of cascade redo apply rather than just get the primary ship to each standby?

I guess you could try to reduce the latency of node to node if some the day before were quite remote from the primary

Q5. Is it possible to convert a physical logical Standby?

Q6. What number best of Standby, you can have - Oracle suggests 30 but I thought I remember reading somewhere regarding the 11 GR 2, that this limit has now been increased?

    Thank you

    Jim

    Hello again;

"begins each logical waiting first her life on hold physical?"

Its the only way I ever did. I think it is the simple way to do it.  By the presence of a physical standby first you have already confirmed the network and most of the settings for Data Guard so that you can focus on only the logic of the standby database configuration.

  • Question about the design of conditional text

Posted in the wrong forum, post again here.

I have a relatively important book (230 pages) with dozens of tables and 100 graphics. I need 4 versions of this book. One for each grade level (3) and the other if happy for all 3 grades is sold as a "master class".  Other than the implementation of conditional text, the book is ready to go. I tried two different ways to approach the tables under certain conditions (some of which are within blocks of text, some just anchored to a page) but I do not quite understand.  Application of conditional text tags (with different colors and markers for each) seems to crash (i.e. almost duplicatable unlike the grave 'normal' down 3-4 I feel daily last month that are just randomly). Sidenote: I was very happy to see that they will solve the crash of book printing...

Reference markers are involved in these conditional sections, and I have my suspicions that they are guilty of the root of my other problems of crash, but then FM crashed when applying conditional text to a section that * don't * have a x - ref, so I don't know what to think.

I need to get out Monday. So my question is, if I need 4 tables in one page (one for each version) I better just do 4 copies of the book and the compilation of this way? I sold the customer on FM mainly due to the ability to compile several book of basic documents... so, I really hate to have 4 copies when I give the source. I know that you can select rows in a table for a version (so I could do a very large table for 3 versions and simply choose different lines), but this is one thing that seems almost certain to make it crash as well.  And the paintings of masters have an extra column, but also a line so I still need 2 tables by doc so I could get the conditional statements to stop crashing. Is there a better way to 'design', which could suggest an experienced FMer? Some custom utility which works even if it isn't free?

    Just in case someone asks:

    The system configuration

    FM 11

new facility in August, not upgraded

All the files are originally from FM11 and new

    Windows 7-64 bit

    20 GB of memory

    2 TB - local disc c /.

Thanks for your suggestions on this.

Well, it didn't crashed this morning when I put the x back references in the conditional table. Sent to fmerror with the steps for dupe.

But on the mif wash. I've done it "manually" once a week now for the last two weeks. Can't say if it is to help, but it is always recommended, so I do. However, I was wondering if anyone had a recursive script that would do this automagically...

    Thank you

    Laurie

    Edit:

Search mif washing (and variants) and nothing gets on the Adobe site. I figured out through a vague reference to an old thread where to find it and thought that I note for new users: If there is...

Book MIF Wash is that a utility provided by Adobe that recursively traverses all the files in your book, opens, writes the .mif file then re-recorded this file to your FM - washing apparently file everything watered in your FM file. Manually, this process takes forever. And even if you see frequent references to: did you do a mifwash yet? "when someone has a problem, there is no documentation on what I found.

It is a "sample" allowing Adobe script.

Go whenever you have installed FrameMaker and navigate to the BookMIFWash folder or browse to the file BookComponentMIFWash.dll, which in my case was to C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker11\Samples\ScriptsAndUtilities\BookMIFWash.

    Copy the file BookComponentMIFWash.dll in C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker11\fminit.

    Restart the console.

Then you will see that nothing has changed.  ;-)

You must select the book with your mouse in the Document window, and then the menu item utilities book "dynamically" appears. Down there, you will find some MIF Wash book.

I always pay attention to the warning to make sure that I have a copy of the entire project before running it. :-)

    Hope this helps someone else.

  • Small question about the license of Windows 7.

I've had this operating system Windows 7 Professional for about 3-4 years now. This winter, I'll build my own computer. The drive that is installed on my Windows is near death, I know because from time to time, makes the noise "tweet."  I really love Windows 7, and I would use again for my build. If I had to download an installer to Windows 7 Media to a USB port, could I use my product key to activate it? Or would it be a violation of the license agreement?

It depends on the license you have.  If your Windows 7 came pre-installed (called OEM), it is related to hardware and can not be moved.  If you bought the retail, then you can move

  • A small question about the music

I dragged my audio file to the timeline and it plays perfectly, but it ends (obviously). How can I make the music in an infinite loop or play at least 100 times?

So you say that your entire Flash movie (which is a game) is 15 minutes long on the timeline, but your audio covers only the first 2 minutes of the timeline?

    You have two options.

    (1) you can duplicate the image and change the audio manually with the mouse several times until it covers the entire 15 minutes of the movie/game or

    (2) with actionscript, you can completely replace what is on the timeline and load your audio files with the code and have it play with the code and the conditional statements and timer functions.

A good place to learn more about such an AS3.0 code would be the Adobe ActionScript 3.0 reference, which can be found by doing a web search using any search engine of your choice.  You may want to search the Sound class and the class SoundChannel.  You will also want to search the Timer class and things like "if statements" which are conditional statements.  The research of these will result in finding you a code that has already been written that you can apply to your situation/scenario.

  • Small Question about the Framework Services folder

OK so I set it up and learn how to use CRMI to speak at the University Complutense of MADRID, I don't really need help in this regard.  My question is I am to read the documentation of records Services and read "FLD_CREATE_FOLDER" and has been in deficit.  A how can I find the GUID for the parent folder, and secondly I don't see a way to add the name of the new folder.  I'm a bit lost with this one hoping somone can point me in the right direction.

    Hello

To obtain the GUID for the parent folder, you can use either the service FLD_INFO with IsJava = 1 parameter or executing the query on table FolderMetaDefaults.

    1. service a part:

From the browser, use the following function call:

    http://ucmhostname:port/cs/idcplg? IdcService = FLD_INFO & path = / Folder1

Here the path refers to the hierarchical structure for the real one whereby we create a new.

For example: If Folder1 is created under the root, and unless we create a new subfolder then path = / Folder1

    If under Folder1, we subFolder1 then path = / Folder1/subFolder1.

Than under ResultSet "FolderInfo" look for fFolderGUID and use it as the value for fParentGUID

    Sample code: https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2554885

The code would be like this:

    dataBinder.putLocal ("IdcService", "FLD_CREATE_FOLDER");

    dataBinder.putLocal ("fParentGUID", "FLD_ROOT");

    dataBinder.putLocal ("fFolderName", "RIDCFF1");

Example above creates a new folder under the root itself.

    I hope this helps.

It seems that the reference is the same. As long as the part number is the same, it is essentially the same part and should work without any problems. The only time where this part can fail if the part number is different. If a part is different from another part (software, hardware, etc.), it will have a different reference number. Also long that 461646-6 c 2 is identical on both, there is no problem with the disk replacement.

  • Question about the design of VCS-C/VCS-E

    Hello

Customer has no DMZ. So, what are my options to configure a deployment of VCS-C/VCS-E?

How is it I could reach the goal that VCSC and VCSe contact area of neighbor?

Do I need to assign an internal IP address (without static nat) and LAN2 in also an IP address in-house with NAT static external IP LAN1.

Prerequisite for which is 'Dual touch Option NIC', no?

At the moment I have no double key Option of NIC, then the only way in my deployment is the DMZ preffered way, right? Or make me another option?

    Concerning

    Thorsten

Well, in this case, you can have the VCS-E in public, VCS - C behind the firewall and an area between the two.

You can increase the security nat'ing and with who use dual NICs on the VCS-E option.

I also either turn off or at least to block SSH on VCS-E to the public.

  • question about the design of the INTERFACE through WebWorks

    Hi all

How to display the bar at the top of my app like Facebook app?

Where can I find the width of the top bar? Thank you.

I understand now, thanks for the clarification.

WebWorks applications, like all other applications on the BlackBerry OS, cover the full screen by default.  If you want to include in your application, your own taskbar to display information at the level of the system (battery, carrier, time, etc.), you need to include this logic in the application itself (for example to create a)

and use WebWorks APIs or custom JavaScript extensions to retrieve data from these properties).

  • A small question about the location of the images in the develop module

It seems that when I finally registered my number of license/serial for my LR stand-alone version the other day some of my presets were given to a default setting. It used to happen that when I have a picture to keep or chose the indicator X he automatically jumped to the next image in the Strip who seem to move things. Now when I have the X flag or flag an image I have to use the right arrow key so that he can move on to the next pictures. I looked in preferences to change but didn't see a choice to change that.

  • Question about the new Yoga 10 HD +.

    Hello

A few questions about the new Yoga 10 HD + that I hope you can answer.

I bought the former model, last year. Love the design and long battery life, but a few major questions made me return.

    • Somewhere that I've read that it can not read NTFS on USB so I guess that's the same thing with a NTFS formatted microSD card?
    • Can it read exFAT formatted microSD cards?
    • Anyone who has questions about the audio via bluetooth?
(I know that BT is not exactly High End HiFi but the old 10 Yoga for some obscure reason - most likely a driver problem which nobody cared to fix - rang * very * worst with visibly distortion while both my phone and a Tablet noname cheap I have zero about fidelity - any of my devices bluetooth audio) I tried aptX or not)

So to avoid buying it back it also I really I would like to see if I can get my questions answered before buy you.

While I love the form factor and long term issues above are only two Mayor dealbreakers for me. Bad audio quality = no joy listen to spotify, local etc. MP3s. not of NTFS or exFAT = some great movies.

My old noname android Tablet really could use an upgrade so I'm really curious it may be, or I should watch the competition and will be form factor and battery LIFE.

    Thanks in advance.

    EDIT:

If it does not support NTFS or exFAT on microSD card have someone at - he tried ext3 or ext4?

I mean with Linux Android root, it should be a no-brainer to support at least when it comes to royalties unlike NTFS or exFAT where it * might * have some trouble with Microsoft.

I used a USB through a USB OTG cable. NTFS or exFAT have been recognized by the Tablet PC. FAT32 is seems to be the preference.
