A tab that is back?

How to know the computer keyboard tabs?

KEY!

It's typewriters / teletype - their equivalent key [which is what PC keyboards evolved from] is called back because they introduce a line return.

  • Firefoxcrashes every time I open any tab that contains a video of youtube, unless I'm in safe mode.

It started today, actually a few hours ago. After you start speed up my new system after a short pause a few hours work, firefox immediately started crashing when I tried to restore the previous session. After many trial and error scenarios, I've identified the problem is it hangs more precisely at the opening of any tab that contains a video of youtube. It crashed at this account and trying to open google maps. Firefox update does not work. Reinstallation does not work. Running in Safe Mode resolves the problem, but I'm looking for a more permanent solution.

OK, so while I was fixing my other problems it also fixes this issue.

TL; DR There were some viruses on my PC that probably messed with system files, I got out my hard drive and completed an analysis using another computer, found about 60 of them. Then I upgraded to win 8.1 that solved the problem, probably by replace damaged system files.

  • Firefox opens all tabs that were open when last closed

I am running Linux Mint 16 with 28.0 FF. FF sometimes opens all previous tabs I had open, rather than the tabs that I set to open as my home page.

I tried every solution I can find here or elsewhere on the web, including the topic: configuration settings, resetting FF, FF uninstall and re - install, check user.js four (be - something different in Linux?) file, etc.

    I did this:

    (3) Double-click browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes and change the 1 to a 0 (a zero) and OK that.

in this thread with the same problem:

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/976041

and FF all re - starting with all previous open tabs.

Install Firefox V29.0 solved the FF problem opening all my previous tabs.

But now all the addresses in my URL are overshadowed by different, especially grey and black colors. Sigh. FF had a lot of work lately, and now that it looks like Chrome, I could as if well ahead using Chrome.

  • Firefox always opens all tabs that were open when last closed

Firefox, started out of the blue, to always show my tabs in the last session when it is started. I checked Firefox not listed in the Task Manager list after closing. So I tried the following:

-change the "Startup of Firefox" option to all three of the available choices
-Change the setting browser.startup.page 0 manually via "subject: config.
    -from Firefox in safe mode.

None of them changed the behavior. It nevertheless opens the tabs that were open last.

I'm under V25.0. Any suggestions? It is a major nuisance.

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that affects the pref browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once true value.

The user.js file appears only if you or another software created, therefore, normally, he wouldn't be here.
You can check its contents with a text editor if you do not create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read whenever you launch Firefox and initializes the preferences to the value specified in this file, so set of preferences via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

  • How to set the home page as a tab, that tab is always visible?

I want to be able to have the homepage as a visible tab that when I visit other sites that I can leave these sites open while I jump to the home page, without having to leave the site when I get home. This gives greater flexibility when they surf on the web and select the tab function be used to its full potential.

One possibility would be to pin the tab with the home page via the context menu of this tab, so it appears as the first tab and make sure that you open links in a new tab.

You can use Ctrl + 1 to go to the first tab and use the context menu to close all other tabs if you want to open the tab of the home page and get rid of other tabs.

  • Whenever I get close a tab that a new blank tab opens on its own.

    Hello
I use Firefox 6.0.2, and it is a moment that I am facing this problem. Whenever I click on the little X to close the tab (sometimes I have to click 2 - 3 times) it closes the tab, but a new empty tab opens. For example when I start with 1 tablet, open 3 tabs on this page, so I have 4, I want to go to another site and close my first site. Then, Firefox gives me new site + 4 blank tabs that cannot be closed.

When I open Firefox this works well, but after 10-15 minutes or I don't know maybe 1 hour or if this problem appears.

I have not installed any new plugin or extension (maybe update my plugins) existing.

It is not a virus, malware or anything. I use Avast home edition (free) and it is updated several times daily. I also scanned my system with tdsskiller (read on a forum that solves the problem, but it does not).
I use firefox for years, but this problem only happens from a week ago.

you have toolbars or extensions installed in Control Panel > software or in firefox addons - manager > extensions, which could cause this behavior? try launching firefox to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode (close all other instances of firefox and open the browser while holding down the SHIFT key) and see if the problem is persisiting here to diagnose the problem...

the details of the system, you have presented it seems you are using an outdated version of firefox and an updated version of the java plugin - both are a serious security problem! There were dozens of corrected vulnerabilities since the release of firefox 6. and java before 6 update 31 versions are vulnerable to the infections drive (your computer may be infected with malicious software simply by visiting a Web site), which are widely exploited in the wild.

I would recommend that you update both programs as soon as possible: visit getfirefox.com &, java.com. and even if you already have a working virus protection software, I would say that you run another scan complete your system with the free anti-malware www.malwarebytes.org tool in addition (tdsskiller was just a rootkit scanner).

  • Hi, whenever I hit the home button on the current page go to my home page AND also opens another tab - I just want to go to my home page without having to open another tab that I then have to close. Any ideas?

I was just in Firefox 4. Now, whenever I hit the home the current page button goes to my homepage (which is what I want), BUT it also opens another tab - I just want to go to my home page without having to open another tab that I then have to close. Any ideas?

Gotcha. Go to your desired homepage and close all the tabs you want to NOT open when you click the home button. Then, you have several ways to update the home page setting as described in the article.

  • When Firefox crashes and restart is necessary, Firefox always try to open the same tabs that caused the failure before.

I use tabbed browsing all the time. When I open a tab of a Web site that poses a problem, freezing Firefox (but not the computer), I find that I can delete the Firefox problem only by restarting the computer. I am so appalled to find that Firefox then tries to recreate the same set of tabs that caused the problem in the first place, causing Firefox freeze again. Usually I can get it out by closing Firefox and very long wait for Firefox to close completely so that it can be restarted again.

This problem occurs in version 4.0 as well as in the latest version of 3 that I had. I remember that in some versions previous Firefox asks if you want to recreate your tabs or open in a new browser window. I always took the second option. This choice is no longer makes its appearance.

Set the pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about: config to get page the on: sessionrestore page immediately with the first reboot after a failure has occurred or the Task Manager was used for the closing of Firefox.

Which allows to deselect the tabs that you do not want to reopen, but will reopen the other tabs.

    See:

To open the topic: config page, type Subject: config in the address bar (address) and press the 'Enter' key, as you type the url of a Web site to open a Web site.

If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access this page.

You can use the filter at the top bar of the on: page config to more easily spot a pref.

It may be a problem with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak file in the profile folder

Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the profile folder

If you see files sessionstore-# .js with a number in the left part of the name as sessionstore - 1.js then delete those as well.
