Firefox opens all tabs that were open when last closed

I am running Linux Mint 16 with 28.0 FF. FF sometimes opens all previous tabs I had open, rather than the tabs that I set to open as my home page.

I tried every solution I can find here or elsewhere on the web, including the topic: configuration settings, resetting FF, FF uninstall and re - install, check user.js four (be - something different in Linux?) file, etc.

I did this:

(3) Double-click browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes and change the 1 to a 0 (a zero) and OK that.

in this thread with the same problem:

https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/976041

and FF all re - starting with all previous open tabs.

Install Firefox V29.0 solved the FF problem opening all my previous tabs.

But now all the addresses in my URL are overshadowed by different, especially grey and black colors. Sigh. FF had a lot of work lately, and now that it looks like Chrome, I could as if well ahead using Chrome.

  • Firefox always opens all tabs that were open when last closed

Firefox, started out of the blue, to always show my tabs in the last session when it is started. I checked Firefox not listed in the Task Manager list after closing. So I tried the following:

-change the "Startup of Firefox" option to all three of the available choices
-Change the setting browser.startup.page 0 manually via "subject: config.
    -from Firefox in safe mode.

None of them changed the behavior. It nevertheless opens the tabs that were open last.

I'm under V25.0. Any suggestions? It is a major nuisance.

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that affects the pref browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once true value.

The user.js file appears only if you or another software created, therefore, normally, he wouldn't be here.
You can check its contents with a text editor if you do not create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read whenever you launch Firefox and initializes the preferences to the value specified in this file, so set of preferences via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

  • 17 Firefox always opens the tabs that were open the last time that I closed it. I use NO history of restoration.

This has started happening since I upgraded to v.17. I close Firefox with the red X or the button to exit the menu drop down. The next time I open, it displays some pages were open when I closed it.

I've always had Firefox to use my Google account as my home page. He does not appear.

It seems to me that in your quest to keep updated (how much this year...?) that you have lost a little something. It's very bad behaviour and I will stop just using FF altogether if it is not resolved quickly.

Well, I drove back two versions to the right FF15 before 16 came out. It still works with the most recent NIS, and does not have the behavior, I complained to my original question.

It might be that FF17 thought that it had crashed whenever I closed it. And it's true, no matter how I closed it.

I lost all faith in Mozilla, R & D, but at least they still host their previous versions if/when the current does not work.

  • I can not open the last closed tab, does not begin with the tabs

Recently, I noticed that I can not open the last closed tab (the choice is there, but is grayed out).
Then, during the restart, I notice that the system does not restore the tabs visited - even if this choice is made in the Options.

I recently installed KeePass and its extension in Firefox and it seems to work (I don't actually use it often). And, recently, I had a problem where the system would resize my pages (as if I hold down the CTRL key while scrolling to me.

Several reboots corrected this problem - but now I can't resize by pressing the Ctrl and scrolling (while holding the Ctrl key and tapping the - key will be resize the window).

Any ideas on how to solve this problem without a complete reinstall? I have been copying my Firefox profile from one computer to another over the years and I am worried about losing my data / preferences.

    Thanks in advance!

    -John

Uninstalled KeeFox and the problem disappeared.

  • How to get firefox show all tabs?

How to get firefox show all tabs, like the other browsers, without scrolling and addons (TabMix and others)?

You can use the code in userChrome.css to set a lower minimum width for normal tabs (not pinned APP) to have several visible tabs on the tab bar.

The problem is that Firefox 13 + shows is no longer a list all tabs button, unless the scroll buttons are visible, so it can be difficult to locate the other tabs.
You would need to hover a tab to display the tool tip if you don't see the label.

/* code used in Custom Tab Width extension */
    .tabbrowser-tab[fadein]:not([pinned]) {

  • My firefox always opens with the three tabs, that I used when I downloaded and install firefox. How can I open one?

When I downloaded Firefox for my new computer with Windows 10, I opened Firefox and follow the instructions to put everything in place to operate, including checking my email address. When I finished this process, I had 3 tabs open. Then, I closed Firefox.

The next time I opened Firefox, 3 tabs opened. The additional 2 were on the same places they were until I closed Firefox.

I closed two additional tabs before you navigate on several times. However, whenever I open Firefox, the same tabs will appear.

How can I fix it? I want only 1 tablet to open.

You can find the homepage here:

    • Tools > Options > general > startup: Homepage

Firefox supports several home pages separated by ' |' symbol (pipe).

If you do not keep the changes after a reboot or have problems with preferences, see:

  • From 40 of Firefox, I can bookmark all tabs that must register individually.

The dialog box that appears when you select Bookmark all tabs (at the bottom of the list of context menu in right click on a tab) changed completely familiar one that is launched when you select the next substantive choice, this bookmark [Ctrl D] tab. I hope that this feature will soon be restored. Thank you.

  • When I logged on Firefox, I found my empty outlook Inbox. Is there a way to retrieve all emails that were lost?

I got emails that I save, but are now gone. I wonder if there was malware or a virus that did it. Can you help me?

Hi, Firefox is a browser, it never stores your Emails.

You can contact Outlook.com for more details.

  • Firefox opens the last session and tabs regardless of settings.

For the last month or two, I had this problem as well as others. Kept getting a popup to set my search engine, I did several times without success. This question went. Tab question remains.

No matter what setting I use open the previous session. I have Tab Mix Plus 0.4.1.8 so I've disabled that and checked the settings in FF to open to my Home Page. No good, don't always open the previous session.

This was not a problem with Tab Mix Plus over the years that I used it. Exactly, I removed it from the Add - ons. Options of FF and together to start with the Home Page and restarted FF but always opens the previous session.

Including a snapshot of the modules enabled.

    What is the cause?

Your list of details of the system shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time you start Firefox.
The user.js file will be present if you or a other software created this file and normally will not present.

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that affects the pref browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once true value.

You can check its contents with a text editor (right click: 'Open with'; do not double-click).
The user.js file is read whenever Firefox is started and initializes the preferences to the specified value in this file, so the preferences set via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

You can remove the user.js file if you do not create this file yourself.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Windows hides certain default file extensions.
Among them .html and .txt, so you can see only a user file name without .ini and .js file extension.
You can check the type of file (file extension) in the properties of the file via the context menu in Windows Explorer.

  • How can I retrieve the bookmarks and folders that were lost when Firefox updated?

This morning, there was a message that firefox should be updated. Since I did not like (or use) Google Chrome or IE, I unchecked the options as part of the update. Once the update is complete, all my favorites and folders disappeared. Is there a way to retrieve either the lack of points OR restore/roll to the firefox browser that I was already using?

Hi, first of all open the bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > restore and see if you have a backup there.

If this isn't the case, please see - profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user dataand recovery of data from an old profile.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

  • I need to restore the lost imessages that were deleted when I slipped on a person's name

I accidentally deleted some Imessages from a contact when I deleted the messages - help-swiped contact name and deleted this way - so I've lost all the history of this person. It was on an IPhone6.

I tried a restoration software, but nothing shows up - I think that it is because I deleted messages from deleted the name of the contact, rather trash messages individually.

I have storage Icloud, but they cannot find.

I have all the messages intact to the tune of my Ipad. Help much appreciated!

One way to recover deleted imessage/text/MMS message is to restore your phone to your icloud or iTunes backup.

If you do not back up your phone then there is nothing to restore back and these messages are gone.
