A way to empty the Inbox folder?

Is it possible to empty the Inbox of an e-mail address without having to click on a message to remove it?

I have a number of email addresses for various reasons and have no problem getting the emails. However, because of risks to security and viruses and things, I wish I could empty folders Inbox, without having to open, or click on a message to remove it or try to move it to the trash.

I noticed that on my version of Thunderbird, there is no option to do this. Or is it?

Thank you.

You can right click on any individual message, and then select delete from the context menu.

If you get to a situation where only messages in the Inbox are all undesirables, ready for deletion, you can use ctrl - a to select all, and then delete.

I think you're too disturbing in the risks of opening messages. Thunderbird doesn't have embedded scripts and you are not going to be clicking on links or open attachments. The main security risk is embedded images ("webbugs") that tell the sender (or another party interested) that the message had been opened. If this worries you, disconnect before working with untrusted messages.

I used to work as a volunteer, analysis and dissemination of spam, and Thunderbird never let this cause any me problem.

    Piotr,

If it's convenient, the absolutely safest approach is to delete the profile folder 4dhjzo2v.default while integer that TB is arrested.

If the person is to use IMAP or POP with an option to leave emails on the server, there should not be a loss of emails (except in local folders).

If there are important e-mails in local folders, and they are not infected, they could be exported to support storage and then imported into the new profile. There is an add-on to tuberculosis, which allows the import and export of emails in different formats.

You will find instructions on how to download and install it in http://barryduggan.info/exportMail.php

  • Move emails into local folders only removes them from the Inbox folder

    Hello.

I use Thunderbird to check out and check all my mail for GMX.net. Since I want to only do this sporadically, I opted for the portable version (currently 31.4.0).) Download works very well and does move emails into local folders. However, when I checked the size of the Thunderbird folder, it seemed a bit heavy. Turns out that all mails were stored in two places - the Inbox folder of reception/mail (such as pop.gmx.net) AND in local folders (in separate files, reflecting the local folder names).

Is this a normal behavior, can I disable it and simply delete the Inbox file manually without break?

Here are the steps I followed:

    (1) create a local folder ('Hello')
    (2) ctrl + an Inbox in
    (3) right click, select move - local folders - 'Hello '.

A lot depends on how you configure your pop server
What to do with the deleted files and if keep you them on the server
and what you do on files properties

    And compact your folders

  • How to get back to the Inbox folder after deleting a message instead to open the next message?

I don't want to open the next message in my Inbox, when I delete a message. I want to go back to the Inbox folder.

I had the same problem, was driving me crazy until I found that I could enable a toolbar of menu by right-clicking on the toolbar and checking "menu bar". This brought menus that I was familiar with, including the "Tools". Then, I was able to apply these tips from the help system:

Specify what happens to the message window when a message is deleted

Location of the menu: tools | Options | Advanced | Read and display
Check the "message close window/tab on move or delete.

What has not worked for you.  Have what measures you tried?

What brand / model of the computer?

    Type of Recovery Manager

Search for software reinstallation or similar program according to the make and model of computer.

Look in the list of installed programs to plant for the program you want to reinstall

You have your installation CD/DVD?  You can extract the .exe from the Recovery DVD file to reinstall the games.

I'd appreciate any help you smart people can give me :)

Check your message rules and see if you set up a message rule to shunt the in this folder.  It would be valuable to know what e-mail program, you are using and what version of Windows you have.  It is very difficult to give a useful answer when these information are not known.

  • When a folder is displayed under several users, what is a duplicate or just two ways to access the same folder?

I used to go to Windows Explorer in the start button to find things and see how my computer data is based.  After that I switched to Vista user accounts began to appear in the folder hierarchy.  There are accounts of users 'Administrator', 'Office Adminitrator s', 'my name', 'guest' and 'default '.  Under each of them except comments and by default, it seems to be duplicates of many of my files.  These "duplicate" files are really the same files that are accessible only through these different users?  Or is my computer overloaded with multiple copies of things.  And if this is the case, how can ensure me that I am always access the right, since they have the same names and I need to check what 'user' with which it is associated to know which it is really?

    Hello

    1. What are the files or folders that you see in the user accounts?
    2. were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?

They are different ways to access the same files.

Users folder would show records of other users, subject to an authorization.

But the images by default and other folders that appear are the currently connected user.

  • Any way to apply the display folder settings specifically to subfolders?

I do NOT want my folder settings to apply to all files, just a special and its subfolders.

Like for example, I have an image file with a bunch of photos and records which also contains pictures. Now, when it comes to photos, I like they are large icons with sorting like Update - Crescent . Rather than do it manually for every single file in this folder, can I make changes to the main folder and it specifically applies to subfolders ?

You can apply it to a single folder or as much as you want at once.  Just "select lasso' (or ctrl-click or what you want to do to highlight the files that you want to change), then go to properties."  You can change all the folders that you want at the same time.

For example, let's say I want that program, the users files and temp of all be considered as photo folders and use this model.  I can select them, go to properties and change them all at once.

    Nothing is useless :)

  • When I run Thunderbird on my desktop computer, he said "the Inbox folder is full...". "I deleted the files but it always comes back.

  • Firefox seems to have created a duplicate Inbox folder - so now there are two. I can't delete one or the other.

The 'Inbox' folder double originally was a replica of the original, even if both have the same name, so I couldn't tell which was the original and which was the double. New mail has been only appear in one of them, so I have deleted all the mail in the other. Things seem to work fine, but I have still two folders named "Inbox". One of them is empty, but it can always be removed.

You can delete the Inbox folder that does not receive messages more in the file system.

First, find the folder in your profile.

AppMenu button - help - troubleshooting - profile directory - Open Directory information

Your profile directory opens in Windows Explorer.

    Close Thunderbird.

Find the account and directory with the two files from the Inbox in the file system, generally below "Mail" or ImapMail', depending on your account type.

Must be multiple files with the box in his name. Messaging files are those without file extension, so you can ignore *.msf files.

Determine what is your current Inbox file, for example based on date and/or the content. Messaging files are text files that can be opened with a text editor.

Delete the one that you want to get rid of and restart Thunderbird.

It's probably a good idea to create a full profile backup before you start playing with it.

  • new messages not seen in the Inbox pane open but numbers behind the folder in the folder tree rising

My Inbox is open and a new email arrives. The number in parentheses behind the Inbox folder on the left of the folders tree, grows with 1. However, I see no new message in the Inbox pane. When I first, open another folder and then return to my Inbox, the new message is displayed as it should be in bold. So I have to change files all the time before I can read the new messages are indicated by an increase in the number of in the tree.

This was not the case before, and it is very irritating. Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

It resembles what we see caused by the calendar addon.

    For Windows,.
    1. install the old version of http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/38.2.0/win32/en-US/Thunderbird%20Setup%2038.2.0.exe
    2. remove the calendar addon, restart thunderbird
    3. Update thunderbird help | On
    4 reinstall the calendar addon

Deleted messages in the Inbox folder again later received. Multiple copies in the accordingly deleted items folder. Quite annoying.

OK, so this is what email provider? Thunderbird is a customer. It does not email addresses.

  • Empty the USB buffer

We use VISA usb for a USB from our data.

Everything seems to work properly, we can read and write to the thin device.

We run into a problem however: If we lose the connection with the device, until we read all the bytes in the RX buffer and close the device, these bytes is achieved when we re-open the device.

VISA flush doesn't seem to work on USB (like all the 4 predefined masks are refised). Clear VISA does not seem to help either.

What is the right way to empty the remaining USB unit bytes when you open the interface of bulk VISA usb?

    Serge.

Well, if VISA Clear does not work and, the bytes to port doesn't work we'll need to dig into the manual for the device at the other end and see how bad some massacred FW engineer a simple message base protocol series and what is really supported by the device.

  • The Inbox messages disappeared

    Hello

I opened my Outlook Express yesterday, and all the messages received after 29/08/2009 had disappeared.

    All other folders are intact.

Any ideas where they went and how to get them back.

    See you soon

OE has a tendency to self-destruction, which means it will often fill the Inbox with zeros and then you have no more messages.  Which seems to have happened in your case.  Check your Inbox for an inbox.bak file which is a backup of the dbx file if it is present.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2 and also #4 on this page.  If there are no bak file and then search for *.dbx (hidden) and see if you find a variation on the file inbox.dbx (box of reception (1) or somesuch) and see if you can import only hand in OE (seewww.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#imp1).  You can determine who is using for the Inbox folder OE click with the right button on the Inbox folder in OE folder list and then go to properties.

If you can not always get messages from all of this, then your only recourse is the extract from my DBXpress program (www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/) disk function unless you have a backup.
