A way to reinstall OEM Windows 7 after version 10 of Windows?

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad R400. It came with Windows 7 inundated. Now I want to reinstall it, I flooded it. The product key on the laptop is not readable, but if I open the "basic information about the computer' (My Windows are not English) I see things like CPU, RAM and the product key ("product ID"translated) and a box telling me that my windows are enabled. I got a notification saying "Download windows 10.  I tried to upgrade but I had an error - Installation to the phase failure SAFE_OS to MIGRATE_DATA operation.

The question is: what is correct, legal, etc. in order to update or reinstall? All I want is a clean system, I do not if it'll be 10 or 7.

No, this isn't how it works.

Figure 10 Windows Product Activation:

In previous versions of Windows, when you have installed a version upgrade of Windows, if you want to reinstall the upgrade version, you had first reinstall permissible version where you upgraded, reactivate, then upgrade again and reactivate again.

With Windows 10, this is no longer the case. Once you have upgraded to Windows 10 and enable, you can simply create a bootable copy on DVD or USB and reinstall all Windows 10 without having to reinstall the release candidate and it automatically reactivates.

"Thereafter every time you re-install (or clean install) installation check in with these servers, concludes the unique installation ID and product validation.

  • EliteBook 2570p: Windows 7 Pro OEM activation error after reinstall onto the new HARD drive

    Greetings!

I had to replace my laptop HARD drive and then clean installed windows iso downloads, burned on a dvd.

I first tried Windows 10 (build 1511), then Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with SP1. Or activate using the key OEM COA sticker.

I tried MS activation of phone also, but they said that they could not generate a confirmation key. They tried to transfer me to "get windows up and running support" but could not get through.

The first activation says invalid key without being connected to the internet, which makes me wonder if there is an inconsistency between my product key and SLIC data, (which I do not have much understanding).

The service 'Ask Tech' at Microsoft tried to sell me a license at a high cost, which I don't think I should need because I have the license OEM Windows 10 retail.

I don't have HP recovery disks (and did not expect to need).

    Any advice would be welcome!

The problem is that you should NOT use Win7 ISO downloads to reinstall your PC.  Given that your PC came with a preinstalled HP Win7 OEM version, and is NOT available for download, I have to assume that what you used to reinstall a retail version.

And the problem is that the commercial version only lights up with a retail key.  The product key that came with your PC and is printed on the COA sticker, is a key to OEM HP product - and that cannot be used to activate any other than the version from HP OEM version of Win7.

Your best bet at this point, is to restore your PC using HP recovery media - and then perform the upgrade of Win10 after that.

It is a DVD and CD set that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

You can look online for recovery from the paged media related: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, enter your product name or number. On your software page and download the drivers, select your operating system and version. Click on "Update".  If the HP recovery support is available for your computer, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entty and click on order to press for more details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

Note that if HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

    Good luck

Please, your urgent response is needed here.

    Hello

You don't say where you got the OEM Windows 7 license of.

If you got it from another computer, the answer is no.

If you bought from Microsoft, you can.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

I want to know if it is possible for me to re - install all the original media to the new drive and then run the Upgrade Advisor, follow it through, reinstall my Windows 8 Pro by using the product key that I bought at the time? Which will work? I don't have a recovery disk for the Pro Windows 8, just my product key which is saved for me. And no, there is not any Windows.old folder to reinstall the programs of the recovery partition. And no, I don't mean to update my Windows 8 Pro. I'm looking for an easy way to do what I'm not a type of technology! I appreciate all help. Thank you!

    Hello

Yes, you can reinstall Windows 7 using the disc sent by the computer manufacturer. Once Windows 7 is installed, then you can move to Windows 8. Product key Windows 8 will work, and probably you may need to contact the activation of phone to the activation service.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Microsoft offers free support for the OEMs (Dell, HP, etc.); This is why your PID does not.

"However. This time, I installed the windows dell os disk.

You can use a Dell disk if you have a Dell computer and there must be for the same model computer.

Here's how the Dell disk recovery process is supposed to work.

Read step 3 on the necessary disks.

If you have a Dell computer, you will need to contact Dell about problems with their recovery software:

I understand that you cannot decrypt files previously encrypted in Windows 7 after you have reinstalled Windows.

    • What program did you use to encrypt the files?

From now on, I would ask you to refer to similar questions discussed in the thread below links and check the status.

  • I will be able to reinstall my windows if necessary after the end of support for Windows 7?

    Original title: windows supports

Last year, I bought Windows7 Home Premium and it works well so far. My question is after January 2020 (after the end of support) I will be able to reinstall my windows if neede? Also if there is no microsoft activation problem help me right here? Also even if the support of the application ends with its suppliers I will be able to download mse, it's to say & essentials of windows from the microsoft Web site myself since the automatic update is not available? or I'll be forced to buy Windows 8, 9, 10 or 11 at this time? Sorry people I know that this issue is too early and not be worried right now but I love windows 7 and I want to run for life so is this possible? Thanks in advance.

    1. Yes, you will be able to reinstall Win7 using the disks provided with your computer, the rescue disks, you have created and/or the hidden restore partition.

    2. where support for Win7 purposes, take in charge ends (for example, activation problems).

    3. There will come a time where the current version of Windows (Live) Essentials is not supported in Win7 - even if your currently installed version of Windows Essentials may continue to be supported for some time.

    4. by the time for purposes of Win7 support, chances are THAT MSE is no longer supported.

    5. No, you don't will be not "forced to buy" a new version of Windows (assuming that Microsoft is still for sale).

    Two points:

    1. make sure backup you on external media, not inside your hard
drive. If you put the backup on your hard drive, reinstalling Windows
will be their undoing. You can use CDs, DVD, thumb drives, or a
    External hard drive.

    2. you can use the Windows backup program to perform the backup, then
use the same program to restore the backup files. Or you can use a
third-party backup program; Again, use the same program to restore. If
you do not have a lot of backup, you can even just copy the files to
something like a USB drive or burn the CD or DVD, and then copy
    their return.
