A Web site will appear as text only, no html, links do not work. Not such a problem with Chrome or Internet Explorer.

On two laptops running Firefox 39.0, I can't access the website tripadvisor.com. I only get the same screen of text all the time where no links do work, not html. Screen attached. This problem does not occur with Chrome or Internet Explorer.

Sorry Kenny. Let's that degrade.

Disables the Mode without failure of Firefox extension, so it is better to look at those to see if everything could be change how Firefox displays pages. I pointed out how to get to this section of the Add-ons page in this post: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1075685#answer-763481

If you are not sure whether your extensions could be the problem, you can disable those which are not essential and see if that makes a difference.

Or you can copy and paste a list of your extensions on the support information page. To be open, use:

  • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
  • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
  • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

Scroll down to the Extensions section and you can select and copy the table below it. It will look a little messy when stuck, but don't worry, we're used to that.

COR - el mentioned a userContent.css file. It's a handmade optional settings file to change sites appear in Firefox. Unless you created it yourself, you have probably not it, but you can check by opening the folder to your profile (settings).

To do this, start on the page of support information (see procedure above). In the first table on the page, click the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

You see a folder named chrome? If this isn't the case, you do not have a userContent.css file.

If you do not see a folder named chrome, double-click inside and see what you find there.

COR - el has also mentioned the feature to forget this Site. Sometimes Firefox stores the cache entries, cookies or the specific preferences that are difficult to remove by other means. Forget this Site everything that Firefox has stored rubs on the site of history to save passwords and bookmarks. It sometimes helps to problems that have no other explanation.

  • Images randomly on Web sites will get damaged.

    I have a weird problem with Firefox. Sometimes the images that I am posting on Web sites will be damaged. The image will look like it has been cut and it is sometimes completely black. This applies to the origins of the site, images on the Web sites of social media, profile and just pictures. Imagine a web page that uses two images and 1.jpg , 2.jpg. 1. jpg is an image of, let's say the logo of Firefox and 2.jpg is a smiling face. 1. jpg is corrupt, so it looks something like this: http://s17.postimg.org/wtm9ndlpb/firefox_logo.png 2.jpg isn't, it looks like a normal smiley face. The Firefox logo is used as a profile picture of someone, and the person has posted several comments. Profile photo, next to each comment, they have done will look like that. Right-click on the image and the consultation at its source will display the same thing. Now, this could be a problem with the site, but I know that it is not because that the clearing the cache and refresh the page causes the image to load correctly. The problem occurs on many Web sites, and refresh the page without emptying the cache will not fix it. Another example of this problem: pretend that a logo of Firefox is stored at https://www.mozilla.org/images/firefox.png. Two Web sites, for example, Google and Yahoo, put this image somewhere on their Web site. If the https://www.mozilla.org/images/firefox.png image is corrupted on my computer, it will be corrupted on Google and Yahoo, too. Can someone help me with this problem?

    This may be a problem with the graphic display driver or hardware acceleration.

  • A Web site will work on Mozilla or Explorer... but it works for friends

    For the last 3 days, I was not able to get this Web site, or with Mozilla or Internet Explorer. All other sites work very well as usual. I can't connect to this Web site on another computer in the House either. But it works very well for friends. I deleted the cache and cookies. My COMPUTER knowledge is limited and I don't know what more to do. This is the message that I get up when I try to go to this site:

             The server at www.bookcrossing.com is taking too long to respond.

     The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
       moments.
     If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
       connection.
     If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
       that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for your help! Since posting here, I managed to get in touch with the technical support of the site as well. I was happy to discover that it wasn't just me - it was a problem at their end that seemed to block a few users (although no one I knew!). Touch wood, it seems to work now.

    The program is decreasing my productivity until most of the transactions now take twice. Very frustrating

    It may be a browser extension, you can withdraw within Firefox. Try this:

    Disable all non-essential or unrecognized extensions on page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > Add ons

    In the left column, click Extensions. Then, when in doubt, turn off. (Or if it should obviously go, use remove.)

    Typically, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

    What is fix?

    Hi Hervé Joseph,

    Your question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. Appropriate in the MSDN Internet Explorer development Forums.

    Please post your question in the MSDN Internet Explorer development Forums

  • I develop a website using MVC3 & razor, but my css changes do not appear on FireFox, but do it on Chrome and Internet Explorer - how can I me razor to render correctly on FireFox?

    I don't have a public version that I just look at development.
    For an example, I finished the market-thru to http://www.asp.net/mvc/tutorials/gett.../updating-related-data-with-the-entity-framework-in-an-asp-net-mvc-application. Then I tried to change the minor positions in site.css (such as the font size) and the changes don't show up on FireFox, but appear on Chrome and Internet Explorer.

    Example of change below: I changed the background of #e8eef4 to #ff0000. The table header background appears in red for chrome & IE, but stay in the blue light for FireFox.

    table th {

       padding: 6px 5px;
       text-align: right;
       background-color: #ff0000;
       border: solid 1px #e8eef4;

  • Some Web sites will not load

    Some websites will not load or partially charge and will be usually just load the site title and nothing else and will have a spinning wheel at the top which will not stop.
    They tend to work on FF before, but no more.

    Also, when I click on another link or something like that it will show the whole page as it is supposed to be for the duration it takes to switch the clicked link. I can, for example, (though I'm pretty fast) click on another link and then cancel it and I'll be able to see the page (in some really weird stuff).

    I read something about Java Script doing this problem, I turned off Java script and I could see some of the sites, but Needless to say that certain features of the Web site are lost.
    Happens on websites very little well but still enough to annoy me. I don't like not only 2 or 3 sites from switching browsers.

    I'm sure it has something to do with Java Script, but was not able to understand that even after reading some of the questions here.

    Here are 2 websites that no longer works:
    http://www.parkablogs.com/
    http://www.latest-hairstyles.com/

    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

    You can check for problems with preferences.

    Delete possible user.js and files numbered prefs-# .js and rename (or delete) the file prefs.js to reset all the prefs by default, including the prefs set via user.js and pref which is no longer supported in the current version of Firefox.

    / * ~ ~ These are the columns for page layout. ~~

    (1) padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom block elements. The elements contained in these blocks have padding on their sides. This avoids any «mathematical model of box» Keep in mind, if you add lateral pads or border to the block itself, it will be added to the width that you set to create the * total width. You can also remove the padding of the element in the block element and place a second inner block with no width element and the necessary padding for your design.

    (2) no margin was given to the columns, because they all floated. If you need to add the margin, avoid placing on the side you're floating into (for example: a right margin on a block set to float to the right). Many times, padding can be used instead. For blocks where this rule needs to be broken, you need to add a statement of ' display: inline ' to the rule of the block element to tame a bug where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.

    (3) given that the classes can be used several times in a document (and an element can also have several classes applied), the columns have received the names of classes instead of IDs. For example, two blocks from the sidebar could be stacked if necessary. These can easily be changed to the ID if that's your preference, as long as you don't use them once per document.

    (4) If you prefer your nav on the left instead of the right, just float those columns the opposite direction (to the left instead of all rights), and they will return in reverse order. There is no need to move the blocks in the HTML source code.

    Obviously, this HTML comment unpaired is a problem - browsers will think the whole page is a comment and you'll get a blank screen.  Disconnected should correct your live view - I think that's what says Rik...

  • Add - ons Manager pages appear as "text only"; Cannot download add-ons.

    Just installed Firefox v28 on new computer running Windows 7 Home. Installation went well and my browsing experience was as expected. Then I open the Add-ons Manager to install the same extensions that I used on the old machine, but something is wrong.

    The pages appear in a 'text only' weird format... scroll down and down... and down (screenshots). Navigation has been frustrating because all the following pages have been in the same weird format.

    Then I went to the box 'search all add-ons' top right of the screen and registered the names of the extensions that I wanted. The search results page was text only but easier to navigate. However, no matter what extension I have
    selected for install failed during download (screenshot).

    What I've tried so far: deleted all the history, cookies, cache, etc, closed Firefox, then rebooted the machine. But the problem persists.

    UPDATE: the problem resolved itself on its own. I left the machine in pure frustration. Returned two days later, and everything has worked well. Have a little problem with the site.

  • One of the pages of my site will not display the Amazon links for the books that I sell. Only one book, wiich isn't on Amazon screens on the page. On Internet Explorer, display all my books. Why?

    Since the conversion of my site to the 'Recommended reading' page of WordPress does not display the book, I have listed this link to Amazon. Only one book associated with another Web poster site, but not Amazon Books.
    This does not happen on Internet Explorer. I asked this question last week, but received no response.
    Can you help me? Go to: www.transitionexecs.com and click on "Bibliography" to see what I mean.

    You have ad-blocking software?

    These links have ad in the url that may trigger such software.

    See:

    Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions of the origin of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).
