AAOL opens automatically when I didn't do it for my homepage

I had to install AIM (AOL Instant Messenger), to get my display screen (PC) to display incoming calls. In doing so, AOL automatically opens as my homepage every time that I boot! Given that I designated Roadrunner as my homepage, through Foxfire, (in EVERY POSSIBLE PLACE), I can't figure out how to close the AOL Homepage without harming my screen on! (It was too difficult to make it work!)

I am surprised that nobody else has sounded with taking them on the situation and you offered some advice. The Aim toolbar is the source of the misfortune of your browser, it should be. I suggest you to remove the toolbar only piece and see if your browser is still unable to set home page. While AOL claims it doesn't have spyware, it is clear, they do it but call it something else, and you automatically agreed to install it and a mess of other things, when you have installed Aim. (it will not let you install anything until you check the agree box) The Aol/Aim software has done more simply to set your homepage it brought changes to all of your computer, including the addition of new files and folders system, modified the registry, and same setup autorun commands to load its garbage at the start. If that is not spyware, I know not what is.

Personally I uninstall all Aol software and never look back. About 8 years ago AOL was the only way that I had to connect to the internet and I had to use their dialup of garbage software. Long story short, the only way I've ever had this computer works properly thereafter was to reinstall the operating system. Now I'm not saying to format your PC and to start over, no it isn't fair for a lot, but I wanted to inform you that it can reach a point where do nothing you is going to fix the damage caused by AOL. This is the reason for which they were prosecuted in a trial, there is several years. Looks like some of the company will never know.

Now, it seems according to your description up to now that you have installed only the Aim software, it's like install MSN or Yahoo Messenger, it is just AOL version of the same thing. These programs will change your homepage as well, but they do not prevent you to change this back. You the best solution at this point would be to completely delete the Aim software, you can try a program called RevoUninstaller, it's good enough to remove 3rd party programs and it takes a lot of unnecessary files that get left behind with her. Once you have disabled the off as the best aim software, you can then you can reset your home page and then try to reinstall the goal, but on the second installation, don't forget to watch the installation options very carefully and make sure you disable things like 'install optional toolbars' or even 'set your browsers to AOL Homepage. They are required by law to inform you of these types of changes to your system, but many people don't simply read the installer and let AOL install everything. Everything you want to install is the aim client, and that's all that all the rest is just junk that you'll never use and your on-screen caller ID is more than probably integrated goal somehow, so why he has to run all the time to make it work.
