about laptop battery life

It is good to use the laptop directly plugged into outlet, without the battery? I recently bought the pavilion laptop g4 2049tx, this method of using laptop could long life of the battery and the laptop.

Hello

It is certainly very well run Notepad on just the AC adapter.

Regarding the battery once a month, reinsert the battery, turn the machine on and let the battery fully charged.  Unplug the AC adapter and let the unit run until you start getting a "low battery" warning  Completely load it again, then let the battery drain to about 40%.  Shut down the laptop, remove the battery and store it separately in a cool place.  Repeat this procedure each month will help you keep your battery in good condition.

I have a HP dv9000 series laptop for about 2 years and my battery is in poor condition.  It is typical of this battery life is only 2 years? Given that I keep my PC plugged in most of the time, he wears on the battery? I just want to know if I should buy a new battery or do I check to see if it is covered by the warranty.

    Thank you

I'll save you the trouble. Even if you get the longer warranty the battery is covered with padt 1 year generally not unless you have obtained the guarantee of store on top of the HP warranty. 2 years isn't a bad battery life. That's all what I expect to get. Battery life is governed by the number of cycles of discharge and duration and charges since. If you take a battery that is new in the box, it will be lower after 2 years when new even if you do not use. If you literally never use the battery you can remove it during the execution of the laptop on the sector. He unloads up to like 30% and store it in a cool, dry and dark place (but not in the refrigerator).

  • Satellite A210 - question about the battery life

I have a problem: my laptop works only 1 hour of unplugged to electricity, so my battery died after working of 55minutes (I mean I look at the pictures or typing in WORD). Is this normal? How long is the average battery life?
My model is SATELLITE A210/1AP (4000mAh) (my laptop is new; I bought it a week ago)
Please write how much your maximum battery work.

It is not easy to discuss this topic. With similar activity, I can use my Satellite A200, about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I don't know how you're using your laptop, but I recommend you to use all the power settings that can make the life of the battery a little longer.

Check the method of cooling, power profile, reduce the brightness of the display and turn off WIFI if you do not use and so on.

You must also understand that Vista needs far more resources than Windows XP Home edition and the life of the battery under Vista is not identical with Windows XP Home edition.

  • On a new laptop battery life is less than 5 minutes; says it's fully charged

I bought a Clevo M72S/M721S Mini laptop, a year ago. When I bought it, it had about 10 minutes of battery life. Now, it lasts 5 minutes without the AC is plugged in. When it is plugged in, however, it is said that the battery is charging and is 100%. I don't know if it's a dead battery, a battery life vulnerability in XP, a bad connection or something else. I've never used this thing only on batteries, with the exception of battery life tests. Help, please!

Critics of this mini are not too abundant, but I found a couple for the re-brand model, and the life of the battery when new, was, on average, about 75 to 90 minutes. Since you never more than 10 minutes BL, and it seems to work fine on AC, my guess would be a bad battery from the beginning. Too bad it's probably out of warranty, but you can try to contact them in any case to see if there is perhaps a battery recall.

You could try to calibrate the battery. Read this article and see whether or not you want to try it:

And here is a procedure of HP, although it should work for any laptop:

  • Problem with my laptop battery life

Hey owners of Toshiba! Is anyone having problems with their battery life? My laptop does not work as long as it should! Or so it seems. Any ideas what could be the problem? What is the machine?

Try to let the battery discharge completely before recharging it. When you decide to use the power of the battery, remove the power adapter when the battery is fully charged and running on battery power until this that completely discharged and not only for 10 minutes, for example

  • Conflict of opinions about laptop battery use - which is the best way to go?

The current issue of PCWorld Magazine States that you should NOT use the battery if your laptop is plugged into the wall outlet or surge limiter; I have a HP laptop three year with Vista & IE 8, FWIW.

"However, when I disconnected the battery while using my laptop at home, got significantly lower screen within minutes, and I was soon harassed with ' the power of your battery is up to xxx percentage of power (to paraphrase here) - please connect" or similar messages.

The magazine went on to say that unpluging the battery will extend it's life, which makes sense, but I do not know how to handle this problem.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Samsung with windows 7 - extending laptop battery life

    Hi all

I have Samsung R522 laptop with Windows 7. As susally I have been using it with the charger connected, Windows asked me to chrge battery only at 80% of capacity in order to improve the life of the battery.

My question is how I could change it back so that battery would be charged to full 100%. Please help me. I'm trying to find answer to this issue for some time and no progress so far.

Thanks for any help in advance

The thing is that I can't charge more than 80%. When I keep the charger connected, it just stays at 80%. It shows 80% in the system and on the battery itself.

I remember exactly this question, but I remember that I had to agree by choosing Yes Yes/no alternative. It's really crazy: P

    Thank you

PS by the way I wasn't the solution on the Samsung website... im go...

    ---------------------------------------------

    I found it

This is the option in the BIOS, called "dough-Extension of Life Cycle. If set to on, then the battery is charged to 80% is the maximum capacity.

  • Question about the battery life

I am facing problem with my battery. When my laptop is running on battery it does not any notification (beep), most of the time that the battery is low. And then suddenly I find that he falls asleep because of the critical battery level. It gives only a written close to system tray notification and this last only 5-7 seconds. I mean, sometimes, that I can look at it that I'm focused on other things.

Please help me in the search for this problem.

I agree with the previous user of the forum. It will be interesting to know what operating system are you using and then we can write how to activate the alarm. I have two laptop computers with Windows XP Home and Vista edition. In the two operating systems, it works well.

  • Question about the battery life of the Satellite L40-139

It's maybe a stupid question, but I have a portable Satellite L40-139 and the battery lasts less time, is this correct.
In the power management, I chose energy-saving. I used to be a mobile system and it could take 2-3 hours. The answers would be great.

The laptop uses Vista. Am I wrong?
Well, I don't wonder that you can run Notepad only for an hour approximately.
Vista needs for more resources as a BONE at the beginning. In addition, there are a few bugs in Vista, who have a bad influence on the performance of the battery!
You can perform a search in internet for Vista and the problem of battery on laptops and you will find a lot of information.
The same laptop with XP runs twice as long on battery as with Vista.

  • Tecra M2, battery life

Got this lappy a week ago (dothan 1.6, video 512/60/64)
All right, but I am concerned about the life of the battery of the standard package.

Once fully charged, it shows a little less then 3 hours of work.

Then time falls rather quickly. 90% ago 02:24
Manufacturer and several critics claim that the battery life should be at least 4 hours.

I reinstalled Toshiba Power Management. Then XP asked to reinstall common Modules.
However, it did not help much.

Can I have a broken battery or this longevity is good for this machine?

My old laptop had a utility of calibration of the configuration of the BIOS battery.
Is there somewhat similar? It seems that the system reads value battery incorrectly.

To Check first, Toshiba site and Microsoft for any update of the operating system or drivers that can help.

About the battery life, I know on older batteries, they worked as how you mentioned.

They lists only a change of time remaining at certain times of the battery.

For example, it can declare 100% for 30 minutes, but then drop to 50% all of a sudden.

But this has happened on NiCad batteries because they lacked a "smart" sensor in the battery to detect small changes.

The battery you have is a Li-ion, so this problem should not exist.

Depending on what you were doing at the time and what power management settings you put in, this will also play a role in how fast your battery drains.

Have the wireless on when you don't have not wireless configuration will drain more quickly the battery.

Playing a CD / DVD, watching movies & games all drip the battery more quickly.

Power management settings, if the value of 'Always On', it will cause the CPU to run at full speed, even on battery.

This is a BIG drain on the battery, while leaving the brightness of the LCD on MAX.

Check your settings, make sure that it has defined for the laptop and try to get down your glow.

If these suggestions do not help, it is possible that you have a defective battery, if so you may want to get it replaced.

    Good luck!

  • Want to m6-w105dx: m6-w105dx battery life

    Hello

I have a laptop Envy m6-w105dx and it is mostly used at home. For this reason, it is still connected to the power. As I am not able to remove the battery, I was wondering if being connected to the power supply of all time could damage the battery or decrease its average life expectancy.

If I damage the battery, what would it be the solution for this problem?

It is a common question. Connected to power all the time is not damage to the battery, but it may result in a little less than life. The battery has a microchip inside that account of the cycles and if you turn it off let it sit for a few days and then turn on the computer back will have to charge the battery upward, less than 95% and it will read as an undergraduate and the battery has stop working after a certain number of cycles to prevent it from being a danger to the power. Older lithium-ion batteries can become a danger if they have too many cycles of charge/discharge on them so batteries are actually pre-programmed to stop working until they're really chemically dead.

The battery may not overload, however, for plugging it on food all the time isn't a bad thing regarding who's going. The cycles can occur only if you have the power and turn off and let off and have the power adapter to the coast for a few days or more. Even if you remove and store the battery it will lose the ability only to sitting in storage, so there is really no perfect answer to the laptop battery life.

So basically, for most people, the battery is something 'use it and forget it ". Don't let him lead your life, just leave it in place and use the laptop as you want. The only thing that you should avoid is discharging the battery below 15-20%. They do not like a lot. There is no memory effect most so you can use it on battery, run it to say 70% then it load up. No problem with that.

You have to assume that you will have a new battery at some point if you keep the laptop more than about 2 years.

    Post back with more questions.
