Access 2007 - OLE object failed

When I try to add a picture to a table field in Access via an OLE object I get the error message "the operation on the OLE object failed. The OLE server may not be registered.  To register the OLE server, reinstall it.

The research on the internet it seems that Access 2007 is not compatible OLE more and now needs something called ACE.

Does anyone know how to get this working?

Thank you

  • Vista error lance when the mdb Access 2007 file is "double click": Windows cannot find this file (the file clicked)

File mydatabase.accdb contains a startup with this VB Code form:

    Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
    Application.Quit
    End Sub

When this mdb file icon is "double click", Vista throws the error message "Windows cannot find this file...". ».
Right-click on the icon of this mdb file and 'Open' is selected, Vista get error "Windows cannot find this file...". ».
Right click on this file mdb and 'Open with' icon is selected, and then Access 2007 is selected, the file opens in Access and closes normally.

No amount of sleep before or after that Quit has any influence on behavior.  However, copy the following code:

    Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
    MsgBox "Stop".
    Application.Quit
    End Sub

will open the file normally, vomit MsgBox with the string 'Stop' and closes normally when "OK" is selected.

It worked on Access 2003 on Windows XP.

It's rock solid reproducible (on my Lenovo T400).  It fails in the same way when Vista arrives in a "clean boot".

  • MS Access 2007-11g - ODBC - ORA-01013

I have a client that is accessing our databases using MS Access 2007.
We have recently updated for customer of Oracle 11 g on the host, it accesses from and now it's getting ORA-01013 error.
    ODBC connections are system DSNs.

To test the ODBC connections directly through Data Source ODBC Administrator with his account is back with a 'success '!
It uses the account has Oracle of permissions for objects and can do what they must to the SQL * Plus level.

    From the same Windows client:
My Oracle DBA account can use the ODBC connection and bring back data.
The Oracle account receives an ORA-01013.

I tried to give him "select any dictionary" and who has not solved the problem.
I'll give him DBA privileges and his account is now able to use the ODBC connection and bring the required data. I removed this privilege for now because I'm not going to make permanent, I have everything I was trying to see what was different between his account and my account. So far, it seems to only be level Oracle privileges that are different.

He worked less than 10g client Oracle.
What has changed between 10g and 11g clients requiring an ODBC connection to elevating privileges in order to establish a connection?
What are the newly required elevated privileges specifically?

    Hi Scott,.

I think you're confused ora-1013 "user has requested the cancellation of the operation" with ora-1031 "insufficient privileges".

1013 basically means that the query was taking too long for the cancelled odbc driver.

    To fix that:
    (a) you can disable in the DSN configuration, remote query timeout
    or
    (b) makes the operation faster. Without knowing what the actual query which expires, there are options like 'bind timestamp date' and 'linking number as float' which can change the plan to explain to the operations.

  • OLE object does not appear when you open a. ODT file.

I often get files from a source that uses an open office program. I am able to open the. ODT file, but embedded OLE object appears as text. The object is a logo, so I'm not all that concerned however, I wonder if there is a way to convert the file so that the OLE object appear to printing purposes. I downloaded an app named "Document converter" on the App Store and I am able to open .odt file in MS Word for Mac but the OLE object still does not appear. Ideas for a job here? As always, thanks in advance for your help.

.ODT is a file "Open Document formaT". Word 2010 for Windows supports this format, but their infinite stupidity do not justify this in Word for Mac same word in 2016 of Office for Mac does not support this format. OLE stands for Object Linking and Embedding and was a way to incorporate one document inside another and I believe was originally designed by Microsoft. A typical example where it will be will work not on a Mac is when a Visio or project document is embedded in a Word document, because even if obviously a Mac can read Microsoft Word files it can read Microsoft Visio or Project files. In theory embedded Excel, Word or file of standard chart for example, jpg, png, etc. must be displayed on a Mac.

I'm not aware of a way to determine what might be the embedded object.

You could try various other programs that support this format e.g. OpenOffice and Google Docs and see if they do a better job to convert.

Back up all your data files to external media, round all your multimedia installation and key products, as all compatible applications will need to be reinstalled (this applies to Access 2007). Hi Stanley.K,

Your question of Windows is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums, since it relates to coding in Visual Basic Application Script. It should be better in Visual Basic on MSDN Forums.

  • How to make a backup copy of Access 2007 in Windows XP?

I bought a copy of Access 2007 through internet download and I need to make a backup copy.  I have Windows XP Home Edition with S/P 3 installed.  How can I make my backup?  Thank for your time and answers you, you may be able to give me.

    Kay

    Yes, it looks like this.

its been a while for me that I dealt with iso files.

However, I would try to just copy this file (like) on the CD.    then in the future, copy him on the hard drive to install msaccess, if necessary.

but just in case, the foregoing does not (or if this is the case) can also use the methods described here:

    http://www.Petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm

so, it would not hurt to keep a couple of disks for each method above.

also, I learned that our House in discs last as long as commercial.  in order to have a number of CDs for the costly program is a good thing to have.   store one of them inside an old bood to keep out the light.

  • Unable to hear sound on the site of Microsoft Access 2007 training tutorial

I can't hear the sound when you try to access this Microsoft Access 2007 training tutorial.

I was able to play audio files and hear integrated audio from many other sites.  The problem seems to be related to this site.
    I am running:
Service Pack 2 of Windows Vista Home Premium
    Realtek High Definition Audio
    Windows Media Player 11
    I checked...
I checked the speaker and volume of the mixer is turned on.
I checked for drivers updated - I have the latest
I checked to make sure that the sound card is in working order
    Any suggestions?

    Problem solved.

If I right click on the player embeded in the page.  Click on Zoom. Click on full screen I have no sound.
I found that if I open Windows Media 11.x in the background the sound player immediately begins to play.
    Strange.
