Accidentally installed Windows 8 32-bit instead of 64-bit Windows 8. Can I get a refund or Exchange?

I downloaded Windows 8 32-bit when I wanted to download 64-bit Windows. I just bought a new pc which should be 64-bit on my old vista pc which was 32-bit(which I used to download Windows 8). I guess that the wizard automatically detected download 32-bit and that's what I downloaded. Can I exchange the 32 bit to 64 bit somehow?

-I ordered the disk backup with the download. It will include the 64 bit version and can I use it if she does with my product key?

Same thing!  I've even seen a 64-bit. I just downloaded the installer of windows 8 and purchased windows 8 by means of the installed. I already had windows 7 installed.  I just did an update 7 (64 bit) of windows 8, you think he would have the knew and kept it that way.

I bought earlier more Adobe CS5 64-bit.  I can not install because it is not compatible to 32-bit.
Is this something that can be flipped?
So much the worse just read:
Can I move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows 8?

Yes, but you can do this using Upgrade Wizard. If your PC has a 64-bit compatible processor (CPU), but is running a 32-bit version of Windows, you can install a 64-bit version of Windows 8, but you can buy Windows 8 on DVD.

You will also be able to keep all the files, settings, or the apps when you upgrade a 32-bit to a 64-bit version.

I wonder if I can just pay the difference to get the disc, since I already spent the $40 for the download.

I have Vista Home Premium sp2 and you want to install Windows Defender, but however Gets the 08x800106ba error message.

Where should I go from here

    Hello

You cannot install Defender in Vista; It is already part of the Vista operating system.

    Read about Defender:

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

If you are using one of the above AntiVirus programs, this Information from David O - Support Engineer shows you how to manually enable Windows Defender (disregard information from uninstalling; not possible in Vista):

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_vista-security/how-do-i-manually-start-Windows-Defender-in-Vista/dab845b2-9ba5-47F3-9518-c4c6781e7d5b

"Go to start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Look for Windows Defender.

Right click and select Properties , ensure that Startup Type is automatic.

Once modified, click apply and OK.

Quit and restart your computer. Check the back take the same path to confirm that Windows Defender has started"

    .

If you want to have additional protection against malware using the version FREE of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

And for now, change startup Vista programs without using Defender, use one of these methods:

I want to install windows 7 and I get an error saing that I need to install via windows PE? How can I go about it?

    Hello

    1. you try to perform a new installation of Windows 7?

    2. where did you buy the Windows 7 DVD?

This particular message occurs generally if you try to perform an upgrade on the spot of a recovery disc or installation support OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) that contains a custom defined configuration and can't stand not running an upgrade installation.

The message means that you probably need to start using the installation media. You can also contact the manufacturer of your computer to determine the type of installation media that you have and to confirm what options are available when booting from the disc.

Here are some links that provide additional information about the installation of Windows 7:

  • I accidentally installed windows vista twice. How can I fix?

Long story but when I turn on my computer, there is a black screen that asks you what windows vista I want use - the one I serve or one that I installed just by accident.

    Hello MichelleBoyes,

You will now see a menu 'dual boot '. You must delete the partition that contains the second (accidental) copy of Windows, then you need to remove the second entry in the start menu.

The first is relatively simple, just locate the partition with your accidental copy of Windows installed and reformat the partition or delete the partition if you do not use this for anything in particular.

The second part is a little harder if you editing the BCDedit file. However, there is an easier way and this is to download the free version of EasyBCD http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/EasyBCD.shtml

Install EasyBCD and then run it. Once EasyBCD works click on the option change Boot Menu. Remove the operating system menu option that you accidentally installed (before doing this, it is best to bring the right one by checking the way in which they appear in the dual boot menu) and then click Save changes. Now, quit EasyBCD and restart your PC. You should now boot directly to your original operating system and the dual boot menu should be gone.

Click on this link http://neosmart.net/gallery/album/view/neosmart/EasyBCD/EasyBCD+2.0/ to see some screenshots of the application of EasyBCD. This will help familiarize yourslef with the software.

  • HP Pavilion desktop computer - 550-123 a: accidentally installed Windows 8 on Windows 10.

    Hello

We bought this PC just 2 weeks, and it came with Windows 10. My father disliked windows 10 so it has installed windows 8 from a disc installation and now internet no longer works. The internet went through Ethernet cable direct to the modem. I have reset the modem, but it is not getting an IP address assigned to the NIC card. I tried to force an IP address to be assigned, but it still does not work.

How can go back us to windows 10? I tried HP restore, but it only shows options for windows 8.

    Help, please!

    Thank you!

    Mani75

Since Win8 is out, embedded OEMs their product keys in the UEFI firmware on motherboard - and stopped including print on stickers on the PC.

You can reinstall Win10 by install media from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10

Because your PC is already registered for Win10, if you get a window asking for a product key, just choose the option to ignore that.

After Win10 is re-installed and connect you to the Internet, the PC will be automatically reactivated.

    Good luck
