Account domain for vCenter administrator install?

Most of the people ask for some type of account 'service' to use for installing vCenter? Should I ask on this account domain administrator privileges?

Should I also use this account to the SQL DB vCenter?

Hello.

Most of the people ask for some type of account 'service' to use for installing vCenter?

It depends on what type of SQL authentication you will use. "The Server vCenter installation wizard gives you the ability to use the Windows system account or an account specified by the user for the purpose of execution of vCenter Server. The main reason to use a specified user account is to allow the use of Windows for SQL Server authentication. '- Ko 1009080

Should I ask on this account domain administrator privileges?

If you are using a Windows account, no. If you choose the Windows account option:

-The account specified by the user must be an administrator on the local computer and the law as part of the operating system and login as a service rights.

-You must specify the name of the account as domainname\username in the Server vCenter installation wizard.

-You must configure the database SQL Server to allow the domain account to access SQL Server.

List of Ko 1009080

Should I also use this account to the SQL DB vCenter?

It really comes down to whether or not you're going to use Windows or SQL authentication to the database.  If you a SQL database with Windows NT authentication, you cannot use the SYSTEM account for vCenter service to run in.

Good luck!

  • How can I remove guest account configured for the administrator?

I tried to add a second user account on my computer and I blew it. My main user account is now defined as a standard account and no matter how many times I click the button to set it as an administrator account that he will not save these settings. The guest account (which I want to delete) is defined as an administrator account and it wont let me save it as a standard account, because there is no other administrator accounts. Even when I try to create a new account just to see what he would do he tells me that he cannot accept some of the characters that I use for the name of the account, even if it's just 5 letters, so I can't even create the new account.

I have no idea what's going on with my user settings, but I want to just that everything back to how it was before... with a single main account configured for the administrator.

    Can someone help me?

I bet that your administrator account is an admin account and your guest account is a regular account. Buttons that you look at don't tell you the State of the special consideration, but the change that you can apply. In other words, looking at the administrator account, the 'Administrator' button is highlighted not because it's already an admin account!

Now you should do this, in the following order:
    1. Create a CD to repair Windows via Control Panel / backup and restore. People like you who make their own PC maintenance need.
    2. Test the CD.
    3. Create, test, and document an admin account to spare, even you have a spare House key.
    4. Disable the guest account.
  • Account domain for the composer display Service Administrator

The administration and guide of the wizard to create an automated dekstop pool with linked cloning technology all have two other press information of the domain administrator rights.

    The administration guide says:

"View Composer requires the credentials of the account domain user with the required level of authority for the administration of the area to add systems to a domain. While you can use an administrator account to domain existing for this role, it is strongly recommended that your Active Directory administrator to create a special user account for this purpose. »

    While the wizard says:

"In order to join workstations to a domain, QuickPrep requires domain administrator".

So far, I created a service without rights of domain administrator account, but the right to link computers don't field. In vain the deployment of office in the display manager.

Should the service account really have FULL domain admin rights? The problem is that no major company would create a service with full domain name account as mention in the wizard vmware admin rights. Or do I need more rights (perhaps creating OU in Active Directory)?

You don't need full administrator. The account must have both create and delete computer objects ACE. The following steps should help you. This should also be applied to the correct level OR if you have organizational units

Grant "Create computer objects" and 'Delete computer objects' entries (ACE) to the user access control

    1. The Active Directory users and Computers snap, click Advanced features on the view menu so that the Security tab is exposed when you click Properties.

    2. Right-click the computers container, and then click Properties.

    3. On the Security tab, click Advanced.

    4. On the permissions tab, click authenticated users, and then click view/edit.

NOTE: If the authenticated users group is not listed, click Add and add to the list of permission entries.

    5. Make sure that the this object and all child objects option is displayed in the area apply to .

    Hello...

I have a strange problem with vcenter. I am trying to add the domain administrators in the permissions tab, but I do not see the available area.

Although I can connect to each host in the cluster with my domain account, that I can't connect to the vcenter.

also in web client when I have the connection with the SSO user, I only see the available system domain and local account of the vcenter server.

When I try to add sources of identity, I see something on the URL and some other stuff...!

What this has to do with my problem?

    Thank you!

    Hello

Have you added the source of your identity (AD) to your web client?

In URL, you must type: ldap://domaincontroller name: 389

    domain name: domain.com

Base for groups DN: even as DN for users.

  • account lockout for unsuccessful attempts in acs 5.1.0.44.6

    Hi all

I have the version being ACS1121 5.1.0.44.6 on my network environment, I need to enable account lockout for internal user during a failed attempt for more than 8 times, how to get there.

I could see account lockout for the administrator user account, not for internal users.

In general, this feature is not supported and is part of version 5.3 of CS which is scheduled later this year for the FCS

However, looking at the list of the fixes I can see that the 5.2.0.26.4 cumulative patch includes a fix for the following:

CSCth12406: ACS 5 has no option to disable a local account on the unsuccessful attempts

I do not precisely with these changes, but by looking at the CDETS it appears that after installing the patch, the following options are available:

1 selected "System Administration" ACS under the left to the main server pane.

2 selected 'users->-> advanced, the authentication settings. Section of deactivation of account appears.

    3. selected check box "Failed attempt is beyond" and provide the number of retries after which account is disable

Since you are on a version 5.1 you would need to move to 5.2 and then install the patch (or 5.2.0.26.5 which is actually the latest patch)

Thanks for posting your query to the Microsoft forum.

I understand the inconvenience caused to you. I will certainly help you in this matter.

Can you access a different user account?

In order to fix your computer, we should have an administrator account through which we can perform the appropriate troubleshooting.

If you have the administrator password, boot the computer and enter safe mode with command prompt, this will require the administrator password, enter it.

Mode safe mode with command prompt

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode#1TC=Windows-7

If you are able to access the prompt try to activate the hidden administrator account and create a new administrator account.

    1. At the command prompt, type net user administrator / Active: Yes , then press on ENTER.
    2. Type net user administrator , then press on ENTER. Note: Please replace the tag with your passwords you want to set for the administrator account.

  • forgot my password for the administrative account.i did not a password reset disk. AlSi o do not have a disk to recover. How can I reset my password or put them on the administrative account? __

I don't remember what my password for the administrative account.i did not a password reset disk.  AlSi o do not have a disk to recover. How can I reset my password or put on the administrative account?

If you have forgotten your password, if you have another user who has administrative privileges account you can log in to that account and change the password of your account of origin of the user accounts applet in Control Panel. If you do not have another account like this set upwards or that you do not have the password which you will need to log on to the built-in Administrator account. In XP Home, start the computer in Mode safe. This, by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. This will put you in the right menu. Navigate using your arrow up; the mouse does not work here. Once in safe mode, you will see the normally hidden administrator account. The default password is white.

In XP Pro, you don't need to go to Safe Mode. In the home screen, do Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to get the classic Windows logon box. Type in "Administrator" and the password that you assigned when you set up Windows.

If you reset the password of the account administrator integrated into house or have Pro and don't remember the password, use NTpasswd to change the password of the built-in to a white administrator account. Download the bootable CD .iso image file, burn with third-party burning software such as free ImgBurn , Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Start with the media that you have created. You need to maybe change the boot order in the BIOS or obtain a menu of boot command temporary with the pressure of a special key. NTpasswd will run. Follow the instructions carefully.

    http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/

Then, go to the user accounts applet in Control Panel and set passwords that you remember and other changes. WRITE THE PASSWORDS DOWN AND PUT THEM SOMEWHERE YOU WON'T LOSE THEM.

Well, that's the whole point of Parental controls on your computer.  Rejects the request allows you to install games and do other things, unless you ask the administrator to help you.  Whoever set up your computer created the administrator account and the password.  You'd have to talk to them to get it.

The software is now located on my desktop but cannot be put to use; apparently because it is not installed in a suitable place in my computer.  Using the Guest login does not work since the installation of this software is not allowed in the comments section.  Your ideas will be appreciated.

  • I would like to download the license for Vcenter 5.5

    Hello:

We recently purchased a new (HP DL380 Gen9) ESXi host and that host will work with Version 5.5 Update 2.  I was asked my our VMware consultant to connect to our VMware account and get the license for Vcenter 5.5 .  I can log on to the account; but, how to the license for Vcenter 5.5?

Then the license "vCenter Server 5 Essentials" should be sufficient. You should be able to download vCenter 5.5 from here (but don't forget to take the update correct level: 5.5, 5.5 U1 or U2 5.5): VMware vSphere 5: Private Cloud Computing, server and data center virtualization

And you should think about upgrading 5.1 hosts after that vCenter device is installed and configured.

    Greetings to all seasons.

Kind of a newbie here. That's my lab environment.

I have always used the vCenter Server install Simple option that also installs the shipped Microsoft SQL 2008 R2 Express edition.

Now, I do an eval of vSphere 5.1 and I want to manually configure a database server using the Microsoft SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition.

I know how to install the database server and it works. But I do not know how exactly set up a database for vCenter Server.

I looked at the guide Configuration / Installation of vSphere and I don't seem to be able to follow the preparation vCenter Server databases section, because I'm not a person to the database. Y at - it any other guide or a blog, I can follow? I searched a lot and found everything I was looking for. Thought I would ask here.

Here are the virtual machines I have.

    Lab - DC2 (domain controller)

    Lab-SQL1 (SQL 2008 R2, Enterprise Edition)

Lab-SQL2 (SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise - subsequently configure failover clustering)

    Lab-VC1(vCenter Server 1)
