  • Reinstalled windows (Vista Home Premium upgrade), will not let me activate

I had to reformat/reinstall windows on my Vista Home premium computer, but now when I try to activate, I get an error indicating that the upgrade cannot be used for clean installation. That's fine, because I know that the activation of the phone will operate, but I can't find a phone number for the activation of the phone. When I do the slui.exe 4, he'll need just to options where it asks me to put in the code, then gives me just the error message. He will never give me the option for the offline or activation of the phone (I even tried to unplug my internet). I'm looking for a phone number to get it activated...

The best thing for you to do is repeat the installation, this time as an upgrade of the current, ensuring that you enter the key on request the installation - it should then accept and activate normally.

  • Help with error message: "Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed in is invalid for activation.

Original title: help with error message... Please...!

I use a desktop PC of HP Pavilion a6202.uk with Windows Vista Home Premium & Microsoft Office 2003.  When I am back from vacation & turned on my PC, my password was OK, but rather to raise Windows, I received the following message: "Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed in is invalid for activation.  He then listed the following options: "access your computer with reduced functionality (this will allow you to buy a product online key)" or "Type a different product key" or "contact HP to help solve this problem."

I have no idea what a product key is and don't have anything either in the type comes to connect as usual.  I can't access anything to be same to reduced functionality.  I can not type in a new product key because I did not.  I can not contact HP - phone number does not... !!

I'm quite desperate, I travel docs to print and e-mail to answer and I don't have any idea what is happening.  Please can someone help with this not very IT clued-up DTP...!

    Moved from Vista programs Forum.

You should have a sticker with the product key on your computer, on the bottom, or under the battery cover.  I try to type this key in and see if it accepts it.  If this isn't the case, you might not have an authentic version of Windows installed.

  • Re use Vista Home Premium Upgrade disc

    Hello

I bought and Vista Home Premium Upgrade disc and upgraded to Windows XP.  Unfortunately my PC has not enough graphics to run Aero and DVD Maker (915 chipset), and I had tried unsuccessfully to introduce a new videocard (power problem).  So I gave up with this PC and will probably go back to XP or get a copy of Vista Home Basic which will be OK on this PC.

I did the clean installation thing with the upgrade disk if my old XP system is not affected and can be restored without problem.

    My question is:

If I buy a latest PC who has the necessary graphics to run the Home Premium edition, can I re reuse the upgrade disc, or the activation process will fail because of "improved" after having already.

    Thanks for your help

    Evereti

    Hi Evereti,

You can try installing upgrade of Windows Vista on another PC as if you removed completely from Windows Vista to Windows XP PC. You will not be able to use the same copy on two different computers at the same time. It will affect the Product Activation.

  • If I use at any time update in windows vista home premium upgrade to complete, I need a Windows Vista Ultimate key to activate too?

If I use at any time update in windows vista home premium upgrade to complete, I need a Windows Vista Ultimate key to activate too?. Please answer

    Yes.

You will need to BUY a Vista Ultimate Upgrade product key/license disk

Windows Anytime Upgrade Vista is no longer available; which you always had to pay anyway...

Try to buy Vista Ultimate Upgrade online: newegg, amazon, etc.

Alternatively, try your local computer store.

    This isn't for free.

  • laptop redesigned; now, Vista Home Basic Upgrade to Vista Home Premium is disabled.

3.27.10 I looked at in the previous questions and nothing precisely meets my situation. My laptop was bought with Home Basic. Later, I bought Anytime Upgrade Pack from the microsoft site. It installed fine. THEN my cell phone got reimagee when the service was necessary. The reimage took back me to Vista Home Basic. Whenever I try to upgrade to Hom Premium, the choice to install is DISABLED. Only offers the option of Kiss of death to reinstall and lose everything on computer. This is so NOT what I want. Please help me to get what I paid for work again... I really, really miss. Thanks, JMS

    Check the Service Pack levels.

Read the General information below about:

Looking for a difference in numbers/Service Pack levels.

If Service Packs came pre-installed on the operating system, there is no way to uninstall them.
You will need to swap the disk to upgrade to a later version that includes the missing Service Pack.

On your installed operating system Service Pack level cannot be greater than what is on the disk to upgrade.

Click Start > right click on computer > properties > system > it will tell you which SP you have installed.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/948537

"How to uninstall Windows Vista service packs"

If the OS installed Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 1 upgrade disk > uninstall SP2 installed operating system > install the upgrade > reinstall SP2.

And run the upgrade of a Vista operating system.

32-bit to 64-bit and 64-bit to 32-bit is a clean install, not an upgrade, if you have different versions of ILO.

    See you soon.
