Acrobat javascript global variable

What is the procedure step by step on how to set your global variable and where to report?

You can create a global variable when you want, then when you do that really depends on when and where it should be accessible. If you provide more information on how you intend to use it, we can provide further details. Here are the basics:

http://livedocs.Adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_Dev_AcrobatForms.76.38.ht ml

http://livedocs.Adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.774.html

The other important question is whether it should be stored so it can be accessed at the next startup of Acrobat. This is what the method of global.setPersistent: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.778.html

  • Is it possible to have Acrobat Javascript to send a message to VBA Excel?

    In short, what I'm trying to do is in the East to the code a button in an Acrobat of the file which, when pressed, will run some Javascript in Acrobat - say, app.alert ("you pressed me!"); and also somehow calls a routine in an Excel VBA file - say msgbox "which is good, you press this button in Acrobat!"

    Of course, it is trivial to make the first part. But the second part seems like he expected to be easy, but that it could be impossible.

    Is it possible to send a message to VBA whenever a particular event (such as a button press) occurs in Acrobat?

    (I can create a little slow and clumsy work around by creating a global variable in Acrobat Javascript that updates every time you click on a button and then permanently questioning the value of this global to Excel using getJSObject variable.) But in my particular project, this is undesirable and I hope that there might be a cleaner and more direct way to accomplish the same thing).

    I hope it is impossible by any means.

  • Working with date and time of the request for help from acrobat JavaScript...

    This coming from

    Working with date and time in Acrobat JavaScript (part 1 of 3)

    The following code adds five days to the current date, and then prints the new date in the console window.

    Get the date and time

    var rightNow = new Date();

    Get the value of millisecond

    Article date

    var msRightNow = rightNow.getTime ();

    Calculate in milliseconds, of 5 days

    5 days x 24 hours/day x 60 min / h x 60 s / min x 1000 ms/s

    Challenge of var = 5 * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000;

    Do the calculation of var CFAbsoluteTime = msRightNow + challenge;

    Create a new Date from the calculated value

    var theNewDate = new Date (finalTime);

    In the actual work on a form code, you'll want to place the

    the object of a field value. But since this is test code, we will

    Print the result to the Console window (great for debugging)

    Console.println ("5 days from now is:" + theNewDate.toString ());

    The foregoing is the exact code (cut and paste)

    The error I get here is;

    ReferenceError: theNewDate is not defined

    1:Console:exec

    undefined

    To get the "undefined" question a lot... it seems to me, learn to distinguish the undefined 'of type' undefined 'variable' and undefined 'value '.

    in this case 'theNewDate' seems to be defined as a variable equal to the current date plus 5 days... BUT I am now "educated" enough to 'see' Why am I getting the error...

    Any thoughts... Any who...

    You need to highlight all the text that you want to run.

    You have not set the rightNow variable before you can apply a method to the variable.

    You can just add a new variable as msRightNow name. Why not use rightNow.

    Executes the code that you provided with a new departure of Acrobat, I get the following error messages:

    rightNow.getTime is not a function

    1:Console:exec

    TypeError: rightNow.getTime is not a function

    1:Console:exec

    undefined

    What you are showing probably works because your previous attempts have left behind them a variable "rightNow" and as long as you do not have the object of time date change too much, you will not notice the error.

    Cleaning of your code:

    get the number of milliseconds of the date object.

    rightNow var = (new Date()) .getTime ();

    define 5 days in milliseconds;
    Challenge of var = 5 * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000;

    Add 5 days to the value of this moment and assign the result to the last time;
    var CFAbsoluteTime = rightNow + challenge;

    convert finalTime value in a date object.
    var theNewDate = new Date (finalTime);

    display the result;
    Console.println ("5 days from now is:" + theNewDate.toString ());

    Have you tried the code that I provided, it is another way to add days to the date object.

  • APEX 4.2 translate data 'function and Global Variable declaration '.

    Hello everyone,

    I use APEX 4.2.1.00.08 and I wonder if there is a way to translate "Function and Global Variable declaration" textarea. Any other script text box is available for translation, but not this one.
    I know what the code is loaded on the header, but may contain important alert messages of global functions.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Grandmaster,

    "Function and global variables declaration" contains the JavaScript code, that is why it is not wise to include in the standard translation process.

    In my opinion, you have several options to access your translated messages:

    -) Use Application-> Substitutions or
    -) Store your message in the form of component shared-> SMS and and assign it to an application with the APEX_LANG element. Api MESSAGE (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/doc.42/e35127/apex_lang.htm#CHDBCEAB)

    In 'Function and Global Variable declaration' use substitution syntax to replace the value. For example:

    var myDeleteMessage = "&G_MY_DELETE_MESSAGE.";
    ...
    alert(myDeleteMessage);

    where G_MY_DELETE_MESSAGE would be a part of the application or the request for Substitution.

  • Assignment of global variables

    I apologize if this is a fundamental and simple question, but I was pulling my hair out for the last week trying to get this working and Google becomes sick and tired of my questions to get answers.  This should not be so difficult, but I'm not a designer, not a programmer, I'm just a tech trying to make my life easier, then Yes, I brought it on me.

    I have converted an InDesign form that has a bunch of boxes in a document of LiveCycle.  I want the boxes when they are verified to assign a value to the variable assocated.  In the properties of the form, I've set up global variables and assign the value to '0 '.

    The box I put the method/property to change to have the following code:

    If (topmostSubform.Page1.Back_Cover.rawValue == 1)

    BC.value = 6300;

    on the other

    BC.value = 0;

    I have a textbox that I am taking all these values and based on what is checked and this is not it must calculate the total for this field.  Here is the code I have for the calculation of the value of text using the method/property to calculate:

    premium.rawValue = BC.value + IFC.value + IBC.value;  There are three check boxes associated with this value

    However, no matter what I do not values seem to are they assigned to the variable of BC.

    Can someone tell me please in common sense as to why it doesn't work?

    Thank you very much.

    Tom

    Hello

    I think Steve is right, you want to avoid using global (or form) variables in this case, particularly in the case of calculating as any change that value will not cause a recalculation.  I have also try and keep all the logic of calculation in one place.  So, in the case of calculating the premium field, I would put the following JavaScript code;

    this.rawValue = (Back_Cover.rawValue = 'On')? 6300: 0;

    this.rawValue += (Inside_Front_Cover.rawValue = 'On')? 5775: 0;

    this.rawValue += (Inside_Back_Cover.rawValue = 'On')? 5350: 0;

    Note that the power of your checkboxes values are the strings 'On' and 'Off '.

  • Compensation of Global Variables

    Before you start, I say I'm a Java_Virgin.  I had a form with a number I want to increment.  Found the script in another discussion and decided to give it a try.

    if (global.count == null) //checks to see if count exists
    {
    global.count = 1000000 //sets initial count, you can change to suite your needs
    global.setPersistent("count",true) //makes the counter a global object so it is persistent data
    }
    else
    global.count++ //increments the the counter by one when the document is opened
    var f = this.getField("jobCount") //creates a variable for the form field where the counter will be displayed
    f.value = global.count //sets the form field to equal the counter

    I placed it initially under Advanced--> Document processing--> Document Javascripts, but it doesn't seem to work (Nothing).  I then decided to try processing documents-> advanced options-> set the Document Actions and used the same code for "Document will be printed.  It worked.  Every time I printed, the field would increment, print, then the displayed field to increment.  Then came the problem.  I forgot to change the initial counter "1000000", so I changed it, but the global field remained the same and would not change.  The number needed to use comes from a set of shapes of the State of Maryland and the starting number changes with each batch of 100, so I need to regularly change the starting number.  Could not understand how, so I changed the name of the variable 'number' in the script to something else and it works now.

    How can I clear this variable so that the initial number of script takes effect?  I fear not hand this variable compensation, as I only need to do once all the few months.

    To delete a global variable you can use the command "delete", like this (you

    can run this code in the JS console):

    delete global.count;

    (I guess that's where I store global variables)

    At this point, global variables are not accessible with the above configuration.  Was the only one I can get this working is to cut and paste the Globals in each item of form1. #subform [0], which of course defeats the purpose of global variables!  I intend to have a lot more items so wouldn't duplicate global variables for each of them!

    Can someone show me how to do this?

    Any help is very appreciated!

    Post edited by: stanbridgej - colors and fonts or not will not save.  Are bolded my question make (non-fat) code easier to read (I hope).

    I haven't used Formccalc, but I thought it would be the same regardless. Insert a script object to the top of the hierarchy and call it, for example "sco." Paste the Globals. Then refer to variables of the extent that sco. Cityscope_Sydney_CostUser1, etc. Make one

    App.Alert (sco. Cityscope_Sydney_CostUser1);

    one of the fields. If the debugger is activated, it will tell you if it cannot resolve the reference as "sco. In this case, you may need to use the som expression to reference the script object, for example

    var scoScript = xfa.resolveNode ("topOfHierarchy.sco");

    scoScript.Cityscope_Sydney_CostUser1

    But if as close as possible to the top of the hierarchy above should work.

  • I don't get to use the global variable. Take a look in my form, please.

    Hello.

    I'm ashamed. I'm not able to use a base on the LiveCyle feature: Global Variable / object.

    I have a textfield for the user to put your name. Then, the user must click at the base. His name and value must be of value to a global variable, then I would use this value in any form.

    This look at my example I would use this value.

    https://Acrobat.com/#d=k0YlC1MXEdVTh1g2TXAJxw

    What is the error? I tried to put as a global variable, but it does not work.

    PS: Call of the value using textfield (TextField.rawValue = TextField2.rawValue), it works fine, but I prefer to use the variable

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Rafael,.

    I'm good thanks

    I do not know if I understood the question, but I think you're asking if it is possible to have a field that displays the value of a global variable (i.e. the 'view' you refer to), which is updated automatically via scripts of calculation or similar to but not dependent on another event, such as 'click '.

    In my view, using a linked across the object world is the only way, and you are right - it is certainly easier.

    Please let me know if I've not understood the question

    Thank you

  • Setting the value of an element of Application (defining a global variable);

    Apex 3.2.0.00.27, I need to initialize a global variable to 0 to implement a variable to test to see if something on the page has changed. Will update to 1 when some lists of selection on the page are changed. Read through a few similar questions and answers within the forum, as well as blogs and other sites. So, I think that what I do is the way forward in this regard. Unfortunately, my point/global application initialization is not past yet. Here's an overview of what has been implemented:

    1) has created an element of demand, G_CLASSIFICATION_ID_NEW in the shared components.
    (2) created the Javascript (JS) function called by addLoadEvent area header html page so when the page is loaded, the application global/G_CLASSIFICATION_ID_NEW element should be set to 0 with the following JS and using AJAX and htmldb_GET:

    < script type = "text/javascript" >
    function initVars()
    {
    Alert ("before the initvars get");
    get var = new htmldb_Get (null, $x('pFlowId').value, null, 22);
    Get.Add ('G_CLASSIFICATION_ID_NEW', 0);
    gReturn = get.get ();
    {if (gReturn)}
    Alert (gReturn.value);
    }
    get = null;
    Alert ("after get initvars");
    }

    Alert ("before the call to the initpage");
    addLoadEvent (initVars ());
    < /script >

    I used the htmldb_Get successfully to populate other global variables and processes on request with onchange THAT JS call in the attributes of html form elements select list on the page. Later, I check the globals via the Session view and research on elements of Application. Unfortunately, I'm missing something, because my G_CLASSIFICATION_ID_NEW never gets filled when I load the page. The Alerts popup every when the page is loaded, so I know that the script is running when the page loads. alert (gReturn.value) is not defined. And, of course, the G_CLASSIFICATION_ID_NEW to 0 does not place.

    I tried the htmldb_Get with her call for a process of application and without (null value). What I read, you should not need to call an application process to have the get.add of the value of the global variable. Here again, this could be where I'm wrong. However, as I mentioned, it works for the other functions called from an onchange to fill a part of the application, but the page has already loaded when the onchange (s) executed. They can work because the page is already loaded when the onchange is called. My point here is that my other on application processes are NOT set or modify global variables at all. The globals are preparing with the get.add (< element app >, < value >) part of my other JS works within the HTML header area. So I'm inclined to believe that I don't need 'application_process = < some_odp >' set parameter, but if it is not true, please let me know. If so, what should be in the application process-that is to say, what would be the purpose of the get.add (< application item >, < value >) if I set the global variable in the application process on because it's the only thing I could think to do within an application process on for this?

    If someone can point out what I'm not understand or, failing to do it here, that would be great. I am doing fine with APEX, but don't consider myself a guru with it immediately. I'm certainly not a JS/AJAX guru, and when things like that, go astray, I get bogged down because I'm not sure of the problem. So, I hope that you gurus who monitor this forum can get going in the right direction.

    Thank you

  • Using global variables in a device custom

    Hello world

    I have problems with the passing of data through my device customized using global variables. I want to allow a user to select a RIO device address when you set up the system definition file. This is recorded in a global variable using the hand Page VI. I would later use this RIO device address in RT driver to deploy a bitfile. I can hard-code, but it is much more convenient to use a global.

    When I try to store the address of the global variable, it updates the value temporarily (I confirmed that the structure of the event recognizes the change of value). When I click the node of the tree to define system linked to the Main Page VI and then click on it again, the hand Page VI runs again. I wrote the code to repopulate the address of device of RIO with the last value stored in the global variable, but it is empty. I've included the VI global variables in my build, so I can't imagine why it can reset this value.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you

    Mitch

    Have you tried to use the custom device properties to store this value instead of GVs?

    Configuration VI, you can set this property, and if I'm not mistaken, you can read these properties on the RT driver.

  • DLL and global variables

    OK, here's a strange problem.  I am very new to create the dll, so I don't know that I have just an installation problem.

    But I'm trying to pass a global variable of a host program to its attached DLL.  I got this job when I was the CVI 2014. I recently upgraded to 2015 and then started getting "undefined symbols" errors.  With some struggle I managed to compile again, but broke the variable connection in the process.

    I have compiled my DLL in debug mode so that I walk in from the test project.  Right now, my global variable exists in the test project, as well as in the DLL.

    Can I export the variable and the use of DLLIMPORT/DLLEXPORT?  Confused and curiously not to find anyone quite like this on the forums.

    EDIT: this post stack overflow described pretty well from my experience.  I am linking statically.

    Well, what do you know?  I found my problem.  This draft article and example WERE vital to the solution.  This article called, "using the Export method qualifier"was also useful.  I'll cut to the Chase...

    If you use a qualifier of export on the definition and the import on the declaration, LabWindows/CVI identifier export symbol.

    This is the right key.

    So in my example, it should look like this:

    DLL fichier.c

    int DLLEXPORT varName = 0;

    Header.h DLL

    int DLLIMPORT varName;

    Project that uses DLL.c

  • How to extract file with LabVIEW Teststand global variables

    Hello

    My goal here is to extract all the contents of the global variables for file (names and the value of any types) in a sequence of my LabVIEW UI file.

    For now, I can only open a file of sequence of LabVIEW and get the number and the names of the variables (cf. vi) attached.

    But if my variable is a container, I would like to know all the contents of this container (and so on) and I don't know how to do it.

    In addition, I have to extract the value of variables that I don't know the type in advance...

    Can you help me?

    Thank you.

    Well I finally used the method "GetNthSubProperty" to work on each variable and I use the property 'Type' to know if it's a number, string, boolean, or a container. If it is a container, I repeat the process at a lower level... (see attached vi)

  • Global variables for circular buffer

    Hallo!

    I have another question:

    I need to have a variable circular buffer size. So I want set size circular buffer by a global varable.

    Is this possible? I tried to use the global variable like {VAR_01} to insert in the field that you want to the memory size circular buffer, but dasylab puts only a zero in the field.

    Thank you and have a nice day.

    Hilby

    Unfortunately, it is not possible to have a variable size buffer. Right-click in the textfield corresponding: the shortcut menu does not show an entry to select the global variable from a list.

  • Addition of new global variables

    I change code that uses one or more global variables in a global folder of vi. I would like to add a few variables more and potentially change what exists and ask them to be in the same globals vi. I can easily add a variable of the same type by copying and pasting a variable of the same type on the Panel before the globals vi, but I can't add variables of different types.

    This post comes closest: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/how-to-associate-existing-global-variables/m-p/1079535/highlight/tru... but I did not understand this line:

    • Add FP (there may be several elements in a global variable VI)

    I read some of the warnings against the use of global variables as it can cause race conditions / lead to General illegibility. I'm curious what is recommended if global variables are used as the constants that are defined at the beginning of the program. In general, my LabVIEW code gets pretty unreadable if I have a lot of threads for all of these constants. Is there something better?

    Thank you!

    Kristen

    Hello kllurie,

    The scenario you mentioned (using globals to replace duplicate constants) is probably the best use cases for them - conditions of race etc. problems arise when they are used to the stream or in several scenarios of the writer.  Readability is perhaps a matter of concern, because it is not immediately clear what could be reading from or writing to a global when a thread would suffice.

    With regard to the modification of the globals vi, all you need to do is drop objects on the front of the range of controls (right click).

    Kind regards
