Acrobat thinks bad scanner device name is "Brother Twain."

When I try to choose the Scanner ' Brother MFC-9340CDW ' newly installed in Acrobat to create a new document in the scanner, "Brother Twain" is listed as a scanner rather than the name of the correct scanner (Brother MFC-9340).  I am under El Capitan (OSx 10.11.5) and Acrobat 8.3.1 the scanner works well with the Brother Control Center application and when I scan of system-> printers and Scanners--> Scan preferences.  I don't know other applications scan that I installed.

The problem is that for some reason, Acrobat thinks that the scanner is named "Brother Twain" rather than "Brother MFC-9340CDW.

I got the message "cannot communicate with scanner" for two consecutive days to determine the problem.  I reinstalled and restarted again today after I posted my question and everything now works fine using the name scanner 'Brother Twain'.  My problem is now solved and I'm a happy camper.  Thank you.

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place for newspaper bug?  I don't see any bug report feature on z10 device similar to the older versions of the operating system, I have to raise this issue here.

I went in my device settings - 'About' to change the name of devcie for a description more usability.  The default when registering on Rogers was 'BLACKBERRY - 54 A 8' for my device.

I tried to change 'Mike z10' and after an attempt to save, I get the following error "device name not valid - have chosen you an invalid name.  A devcie name must be alphanumeric and may contain '-'and'.', but not as the characters of the first or the last and '.' can only be used as part of a complete domain name. EMail address added to < < my device name > > < < my device name > > now using < < my mailadress (identical to the Apple ID) > > for FaceTime and iMessage.

Why I get this message? iPhone is disabled due to my work offshore for two weeks, but the use of the iPod touch is allowed.

What is my apple ID used on other devices with the same name as my iPhone?

I would be happy if anyone has an explanation of why I feel this strange behavior.

When you connect to FaceTime or Messages on another device, another peripheral other device using this same ID will get the message that has been signed to. Some iOS (and OSX) update log for other devices will get the message when that happens.

  • Get custom device name of in Sub VI

    Hi all

I write an error handler that creates log files for any errors and warnings that are generated in a custom device fault.  One of the pieces of information that I would like to include in the file is the name of the custom device the error handler is incorporated in (because I run multiple devices customized in the same project).  I tried various classes of property and refnums different nodes, but I was not able to find something that works.  Is the closest I got to get the name of the VI incorporated in my error handler.  It is of course very little use because of custom device file naming structure are always the same, (the error handler is still in the RT pilot VI).

If anyone has a method to get the name of the Custom device of in a Sub VI of the custom device, your advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much

  • Instruments GPIB remote access through the GPIBConf device names

    Hello

I am trying to run the Labwindows 2009 SP1 code on a PC based office while trying to exploit the GPIB instruments

on another part of the network.

Normally, this isn't problem with VISA server on the target computer and the use of names of Alias VISA within the

    Office PC code.

But this code was inherited and uses a different method which has been the best over time.

The code uses device name strings that have been defined using the GPIB utility: GpibConfig.exe,.

on the target computer. So when a device is first initialized, the name defined in the GPIB utility is used

by the code and the associate instrument access are reached. It works fine when the code and

the instruments are located on the same PC.

My question: is there some way I can use VISA access server remote GPIB instruments help

defined names on the computer target with the GpibConfig.exe utility?

    Thank you

    Gary.

The low-level GPIB functions have no knowledge functions VISA or aliases. This must be a very old application since the VISA has been around for 10 years. Have you always the source code so you can change your GPIB for VISA?

Original title: Shared readers do not reconnect

I have two PCs connected wireless. A laptop (Vista Business) was the drives mapped to actions on the other PC (XP). Whenever the Vista PC is started or out of hibernation, or after only a short period of time these discs are not available. Click on the drive in Explorer to display the message "an error occurred during connection [drive letter]: [share name] Microsoft Windows network: the local device name is already in use." This connection has not been restored. »

If I click on 'Network' within Solution Explorer, the XP PC is not visible. The only way that I can "reconnect" these disks is to go into my anti-virus (Trend) and open the network map. This shows the XP PC and then the shares are available through Explorer - XP PC is still not visible by clicking network however.

It started only happens in the last two months - cannot locate exactly when, but quite recently. I use connections to store small files and backup critical files a few before nailing the laptop away and it is quite annoying to have to go through this routine every time.

    Any ideas?

Just in case it helps others - I found that if I make sure that my XP PC has a fixed IP address, and then set up the shares so that they are defined using the IP address and not share names, then I do have more problems - seems like it's something to do with Windows solve the share names rather than something to do with the personal firewall after all.

    Hello

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forum.

The error "the specified device name is invalid" is displayed if you try to name a folder with a name that represents a limit of MS-DOS device name.

The MS-DOS device driver names cannot be used as file names in Windows. As a result, we cannot name as records con, zero, etc.

Microsoft MS-DOS booked these names for these system device drivers.

    • CON: Keyboard and display
    • PRN: System list device, usually a parallel port
    • To THE: auxiliary device, usually a serial port
    • CLOCK$: the system real-time clock
    • DRAW: Bit-Bucket device
    • A:-Z:: the drive letters
    • COM1: First communications port series
    • LPT1: First parallel printer port
    • LPT2: Second parallel printer port
    • LPT3: The third parallel printer port
    • COM2: Second communication port series

oracleasm version came not in rpm-qa output may be because it is part of the Oracle Linux kernel. But the 2 components above are not

    = Environment details end =.

We have a 2 node RAC cluster.

We wanted to add 2 LUNS to our data Diskgroup and asked team storage available to both nodes of the cluster.

After that they provided, the Linux Admin scanned the LUN and powerpath device names were generated. The powerpath device names like SCSI logic unit number names are incremented sequentially. Because, two additional powerpath LUN used to Node1 to a local file system, the names of powerpath were incrementing differently in the two nodes.

Thus, for the same LUNS emcpowerpath names differed in Node2. Linux Admin did not notice this difference. And he told us the names of newly added from Node1 LUNS powerpath that have been

    / dev/emcpowerv

    / dev/emcpowerw

But in Node2, the same LUN were appointed

    / dev/emcpowert

    / dev/emcpoweru

The DBA guess powerpath name these 2 LUNS will be same on Node2, label the discs to help

    oracleasm createdisk DATA17/dev/emcpowerv1

    oracleasm createdisk DATA18/dev/emcpowerw1

After marking in node 1, the DBA ran scandisks in Node2. But while the oracleasm scandisks in Node2 is running, it does not seem to/dev/emcpowerv and/dev/emcpowerw in Node2. Instead, ASMLib is smart enough to read the LUN ID in Node1 and search devices powerpath with the same LUN ID and labels as Node1. What's it like in Node2, / dev/emcpowert is labeled DATA17 and/dev/emcpoweru is labeled DATA18 correctly, as shown below.

    Node1

    Node2

    LUN ID

    Label of the ASM

    / dev/emcpowerv

    / dev/emcpowert

    873F

    DATA17

    / dev/emcpowerw

    / dev/emcpoweru

    629:

    DATA18

    Confirmed using the oracleasm querydisk Pei/dev/emcpower < x > .

During labelling using the oracleasm createdisk , since we use the LUN name I always thought that asmlib dealt only with the names of devices (Powerpath name in this case). I didn't know that ASMLib treats ID LUN. If ASMLIB faces in LUN ID internally, then you don't need to have the same name for a particular LUN for disks shared in different RAC nodes? Right?

ASMLIB contains 3 packs. Oracleasmlib, which is distributed under a license of Oracle user space and is not part of the standard GPL software distribution. Oracleasm-support, which is in the standard repository and kernel driver of Oracleasm, which is included in the core Oracle UEK only or distributed by Red Hat to RHCK kernel. The subsequent RHCK driver requires a Red Hat subscription. You need all 3 installed packages.

ASMLib doesn't care to the SCSI ID or device names. When you configure a device to ASMLIB, he writes a header special disk in the device, the command scandisk read and identify a device. ASMLIB devices are populated under the tree of device/dev/oracleasm and found by ASM using the default ORCL: device chain.

Don't forget that ASMLIB does not work with multiple devices and if you use DB-Multipath or EMC Powerpath, you need to blacklist the physical devices so ASMLIB will use powerpath or multipath device instead. Otherwise there will be no failover devices like ASMLIB will simply use the first device found and ignore the other. Check the following:
