When I started my computer there was a warning that I have "activate this copy of Windows. I am wary because my copy of Windows has been activated when installing several years ago. The screen that told me this does not appear be an authentic window Ms. It's rather ordinary. I refused and my regular desktop came.  I do not want to release a virus. • My Windows 8 Pro product key does not work to activate my copy of Windows 8 Pro

My work of Windows 8 product key is not

Step 1: Yesterday I bought a new hard drive clean Virgin and I bought Windows 8 Pro at a local big-box store. It is a complete copy. Not an upgrade.

Step 2: I removed all the other my system HARD drives and installed Windows 8 on the new hard drive. The system asked product key. I went in and everything installed perfectly. Windows works fine. I like it.

Step 3 However, when I went to 'activate' my copy of Windows 8 and I enter this SAME product key, that I used to install I get the following message "this key did not work. Check it out and try again, or try a different key. "I repeated this step at least 4 different times after the reboot. Still does not accept it.

Question: I can not activate my new copy of Windows 8. How can he accept my key for installation and then NOT accept for activation?

    Help!

    JWM

    The problem was solved!

Step 1: I called Microsoft support MICRSOFT (800)

Step 2: I navigate through all voice menus for installation tech Support for Windows 8

Step 3: I explained the problem to the technology (Jerry)

Step 4: The tech had me find the search function and he get a function of 4 letters (I forgot the command). I executed the function, and I got to a screen that asked me to enter a code for the Microsoft Technical Professional. I entered the 8 digit code that the tech provided for me.

Step 5: I get to a new screen and technology (Jerry) explains that I am turned on.

Step 6: I restart my PC and I go to the 'System' page in the control panel and it shows that my copy of Windows 8 is activated!

The Tech explained that my copy of windows is an "upgrade" version (it isn't) and that is why I got the sentence. I explained repeatedly that it was a COMPLETE copy.  Finally, I dropped my 8 Windows has been activated.

Call the technical support and good luck!

    Hey Shaun,

Since you have Windows 7 preinstalled on the system, you will need to contact the manufacturer for more information about activation, because the license is provided by the OEM.

  • How can I turn off activate a copy of Windows 7?

I would turn off a copy of Windows 7. One of my laptops was stolen, but I still have the discs, I would like to sell. Stolen system was 32-bit and all my other computers are 64-bit, so the disc is of no use more for me.

Before I sell it, I would like to disable the copy so that there is no running around for the new owner.

I see lots of advice here on the process of activation, but nothing about disabling a copy. It seems I have the phone activation Support Center, but their number does not seem to be available when you use a copy of Windows that is not yet activated. How can I find this phone number if my other computers all have active copies of Windows? (IE. I can't use slui.exe solution, for example, because it tells me that my copy is active and real).
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

There is no way to disable remote. The best you can do is explain to the buyer that he was already in use and they should use for phone activation reactivate. When it is re-enabled, it will automatically deactivate the other installation. Unfortunately, if the person who stole it retrieves the key, they can easily reactivate too.

I bought windows 7 Home premium and I installed it on my desktop computer and a laptop; Also, I want to install on my laptop 'small', but it seems license is just for the two devices... Could I by and xtra copy of my OS (same license) or I have to buy another "full license?

Windows ("full retail version") is only authorized for installation on a computer and not two or three. The only exception is the Home Premium Family Pack, which is an upgraded version and requires XP or Vista is already installed and activated.

  • Activate the copy of windows for Windows not genuine error after Virus removal

    Hello

About 2 weeks back, I had to contact my business anti-virus software to help me with a problem of PC viruses presumed and it turns, 3 files on my pc were infected - 1 being a registry key. As part of their process of cleaning, they have deleted all 3 files (I don't know what registry key has been infected) but since then my machine acted strange... first of all, my laptop had an activated version of Windows 7 professional since late March / early April of 2012, but given that these 3 files were deleted , it gives me the message "this computer is not running genuine windows. Also I am not able to open the windows sound mixer.
A deletion of registry keys could cause this scenario? Is there a way to fix things to make my PC work as before WITHOUT a format/reinstall everything? Note When I open the properties of the system, windows confirms the OS has been activated.
    Thank you

    You're welcome-good luck.
