activation of administrator on windows 7 Home premium

I used the transfer utility to transfer my credentials from a business laptop windows to a new laptop with windows home premium on it. When I first came to windows hp I discovered that my account is a standard account instead of a directors - even through the said account administrator type account when I drilled down he has been upgraded and would allow me to change it.

In looking at some of the other threads, I tried a number of things, and that's what I found at work underneath for me.

Signed my account
Went to the Directory Windows/system32 and cmd.exe found
Highlighted file name and right click
Choose run as administrator from the menu
Double clicked on the file
The open command window
Typing in net user administrator / Active: Yes
Closed the command window
Restarted
The administrator now appear on the Welcome screen

I tried the windows and R - key that did not work
When I tried to type lusrmgr.msc I got the message that this was not supported in the home premium

My question is - is this because my transferred account was account an administrator to start? Or was this coincidence I managed it - the Administrators account when activated is not a password on this subject and I guess I should create one - but I'm not sure what will do after the fact for utility and other windows. Anyone?

Thank you

My question is - on the screen - just to confirm - the user is in the Administrators group? I thought when I opened this window it would have the active administrator not the user standard active - so my assumption is that regardless of the user is set to the default screen to 'other' choice?

Thanks again!

If you set the administrator user, it will become a user with the administrator authority
and he or she will be placed in the Administrators group.

The best way to spend it is by pressing Windows + R and type"control userpasswords2".
1. select a user from the list and click Properties.
2 select the group membership tab.
3 select Standard user (or administrator) , and then clickapply and then click OK.
4. click on OK.

  • Windows Vista Home Premium - problem "task manager has been disabled by your administrator".

    Nice day

I had problems with my task manager (I use the operating system "Windows Vista Home Premium"). Evertime I try to access the program, he returns with "task manager has been disabled by your administrator". I used different tools to remove malware and got rid of a lot of problems but still can not in Task Manager.

I created a new user with administrator account and logged on it and had no problem until my 'Task Manager' program open, but when I went back to my origional administrator account the same problem occurred.

Why can I get to "Task Manager" in my new account administrator and not the former?
I still have malware in the old account or do I go into my registry and restore something?

I am at a loss, and any help would be appreciated. I'm worried that I can always have some kind of malware that prevents me to access my task manager in my old account.

Please give step by step instructions because I am not computer savvy computer even when it comes to fixing the problems of this kind.

    Thanks in advance.

The computer does NOT prompt you to sign any particular account.
He simply open a connection with all available accounts screen and the user must specify the logon account.

The user has an option to configure the computer automatically log on to the user account without going through the login screen.
BUT, to do that, the user must be administrator or in possession of an admin password.

  • I have problems keeping records and files of the administrator and the user separate in my laptop (HP Pavilion dv6700) under Windows Vista Home Premium.

I have problems separating records and files of the administrator and the user. My computer is a laptop (HP Pavilion dv6700), used as a home computer only by myself, I like to keep the two distinct roles, but am unable to as Vista seems to be considered as one and the same. This scenario has arisen as follows:

Initially, when I bought the laptop - approx. 18 months back - Windows Vista Home Premium was preinstalled, with the name 'Administrator' as an administrator. To customize the operating system and to use safely, I installed a user 'Renault', as a Standard account user.

After awhile, I changed the name of the Director of "Renault", for reasons I have can not remember now. This caused Vista to combine folders and files of the two "users" in one, I found difficult to deal with, that I could not operate my laptop as just a Standard user, but is still considered the "administrator." On the one hand, this greatly increased spam in my email accounts. So I tried to reset the name of the administrator as 'Administrator' itself and keep my user name as "Renault", as originally the case.  But Vista me has failed to create a new user under the name "Administrator". So I created a new user under the name "System administrator", with administrative privileges. This has been accepted by Vista.

But I forgot to change the user account for 'Renault', on the Standard account, so there was BOTH administrator accounts at the same time on my laptop! I realized that now only. The net result was that all the files that I created under the system administrator user were still being displayed under the user account of Renault. A few days back, I realized this and tried to separate the files correctly, but it has not been possible. No matter what I copied the account of the user in the files under the system administrator account, the files have been copied on account of the user himself.

I tried to fix this by changing the name of the user account in something very different, AND as a Standard user. but this also does not work, as all folders and files under the administrator account system shows it as being under the user account of "Renault" only!

Then, I deleted the user 'Renault' from the list of the user, but he was not yet of any help. Whenever I tried to create a new file under the system administrator, Vista responds with the message, "C:\user\Rajaram folder is not present. Will I create a new? ", which defeat the same purpose of my tent to isolate the administrator account and the user account.

SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE WITH A SOLUTION, - OTHER THAN REFORMATTING MY C:\ DISK AND REINSTALL VISTA AGAIN - TO GET OUT OF THIS MESS, IT SEEMS TO ME YOU HAVE CREATED AND HELP ME TO HAVE AN ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT AND OTHER UNIQUE STANDARD USER ACCOUNTS PROPERLY ISOLATED.

I would be always grateful for a quick and helpful response.
    Thanks in advance.

    -RAJARAM77

Thanks for your reply. It was very helpful / sorry your proposed solution has not solved my problem. Kind regards. -Rajaram77

Better to delete the user account except the one that was built in the administrator account that you renamed. Before this backup all your data files of these user accounts.
Then rename the buil into account administrator as 'administrator '. Then you create another administrator account and use it and never the user built in Administrator account and leave it alone.

  • As an administrator, but he doesn't think that I'm? -Windows 7 Home Premium

    Hey guys,.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium on an HP laptop.

In response to a previous question, I tried to run a SFC (System File Checker) scan using the command prompt (sfc/scannow).  He told me:
You must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the sfc utility.

    But I am the administrator.
going to start / Control Panel / user accounts and parental controls / user accounts... I am clear as an administrator.

But I'm not.  I think that's why my Shut Down buttons disappeared (it was the previous question, I mentioned).  I can no longer stop, restart or sleep.  My only option is to disconnect.
It started about 2 weeks after 10 months of work very well.

    NOTE USEFUL? :
I have 2 computers running on the same internet connection.  The other is a desktop under Windows XP Home Edition.  This office does not use of wireless to connect, but my laptop doesn't.
I think THAT this can happen when I turned off wi - fi and had two computers connected with hardline via the router.

Also note: I have Win7 Home, so I can't right-click on command prompt in the Start Menu (I can, but it does nothing) and have therefore no possibility to choose 'run as administrator '.

I really want just my close down/restart back buttons on my laptop.  This is the question at first.
    Help, please?

    Thank you.

Hello all, I found the problem.

    Respondus Lockdown browser

Thanks for the comments. I guess that's the price we pay for Windows is an open system. Every Tom, Dick and Harry can write an application with little regard to how he might divert the normal operation of Windows. The advantage of an open system is, of course, the considerable variation in the applications we receive.

You can report your problem to the authors of the browser software.
