activation of Windows 7 does not and none offered phone option
I just had to replace the hard drive on this laptop, so had to do a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit. Windows online activation does not work, and it is not giving me the option to phone activation process.
The 'Change product key' option on the Properties screen system takes me exactly the same road.

Window Activation in Windows XP does not start / Open
I recently updated my computer (new motherboard, cpu, ram, etc.). I tried to move my hard drive from the old machine to the new and operating a repair of Windows XP Pro installation. Everything seems to work properly, but it tells me that I need to activate windows normal and 3 days to do. When I click on activate windows (or run oobe/msoobe / a) of the run window, the machine thinks for a second, but does not start the activation window. It is a non - OEM version of XP. Can anyone help?
Thank you
MarcThanks for the help... I got on the phone with microsoft, which, after a few stop sent me to technical support. We tried all sorts of different stuff (including the one you mentioned above), all to nothing does not. During this process, I discovered that although 99% of my programs made the transition seamlessly, Internet Explorer doesn't have.
I started in safe mode, deleted records ie7 and ie8 to C:\windows (internet explore was not appearing in my Add/Remove Programs list) and reinstalled ie8
Once IE worked great the activation screen popped up right!
Thanks again, and I hope this information helps others out there that are struggling with the same problem!

Thanks for posting your query to the Microsoft forum. I will definitely help you with this.
This problem may be due to one of the following problems:
You are using an outdated or corrupted video driver
System files on your PC can be damaged or do not correspond with other files
You may have an infection of viruses or malware on your PC
Some applications or services that are running on your computer may be responsible for Windows Explorer to stop working
I would like to know;

- You receive an error message/code?
I suggest to try the procedure described in the following Microsoft Support article and check if it helps.

Original title: hard to upgrade to 8.1 - My App store Windows will not open, Windows updates Pc settings does not.
Everything on my laptop is saying that it is "not responding" - opening of the photos, for example. My apps are no longer compatible - for example my e-mail address is not updated. I think it's all related to not updated to 8.1 - having a knock on effect to all the other bits on the laptop.
The problem is won't let me upgrade. I understand that it is a slow process, but it won't let me even go up to the store to upgrade. What can I do?
Really sad about that I just bought my laptop 3 months ago a result already loads of problems with it. (ACER LAPTOP WINDOWS 8)
I had the same problem and finally came up with this fix. I hope it works for everyone who suffered from this annoying problem. Go to control panel, system, and security, the Action Center. In the center of the Action, open the settings Windows Smartscreen. Do not do anything (turn off Smartscreen Windows) check.

Vista upgrade to windows 7 does not and could not roll back to vista
I bought a retail pack for the Windows 7 upgrade. I tried to install it yesterday evening - took to always (more than 4 hours) and froze in several places for more than an hour. At the last second stage (installation of windows features) - he crashed and closed. Reboot, it says "set to level failed - rolling to the previous operating system". After about 1/2 hour of rolling back - it crashed again - blue screen "STOP: c000021a.» System fatal error. Process of initial session or the processes of the system ended unexpectedly with an error code of 0 x 000000000 (0xc00000001 0x0010037c). system was stopped.
the laptop (a Dell Studio 1555) cannot be started and is not an operating system. A terrible catastrophe for what seemed like a simple upgrade. I followed all the instructions in the Windows tutorial "upgrade Windows vista to windows 7 ', no warning that I should set out a clean boot which I've since found in blogs. I'm mad at Microsoft for releasing a product that will destroy my system when you follow their instructions.I obviously need to re - install an OS - my question is... I have an other laptop Dell Studio 1555 which came with windows 7 and I have the installation disc. Can I use this disc to do a fresh install on this laptop and use the product key that came with Windows 7 upgrade disc?Otherwise, it will be a long and difficult process of re - install Vista, upgrade to SP1 and upgrade to Windows 7, and then potentially have fail again. Please notify.Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
Click Install now
Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.
You will receive the following warning:
The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.
(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK
The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.
Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.
You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

Windows Explorer does not and sound problems
I'm running Vista (home edition) on a laptop and I'm having problems with my windows Explorer. The other day it was working fine and I have updated to service pack 2, after he installed my computer went crazy! My exporer windows keeps "not responding" and whenever he "closed the program" my office went nuts it shows not all of the icons (on my desktop) until I raised the Task Manager and the taskbar kept resetting itself to I don't know what. I would go in the taskbar properties and sometimes he let me check the power, network and sound icons and sometimes it would be grey so I could not. I uninstalled the update and it seems to work very well a bit, windows Explorer still fails sometimes well. What is really bugging me, is that a previous update messed with my sound, so sometimes I have to go into the Device Manager and disable then enable the sound to get it back (the driver is up-to-date). But sometimes the Explorer is not responding so I feel like I'm going in circles! The other problem is that after installing service pack 2 is my computer guard with "unexpected cases" and it still occurs even after uninstalling service pack 2. Does anyone have any ideas what the hell is happening? I ran all my software, adware, spyware viruses and everything else so I know that my computer is clean. It is service pack 2 or is it my computer? Also, I have an idea of what I'm doing, so I'm not a complete fool. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I don't have my 5 cups of coffee yet this morning.
Hello, POOLMASTER7
Try to do an analysis of the file system to verify inconsistencies. Go to start, all programs, accessories, tools system right click on command prompt and choose Run as administrator. You may be prompted to continue. In the command prompt type the following command, press on enter and let us know the results: sfc/scannow

You can open that one catalog at a time.

Windows theme does not work (Windows Ultimate), there is no desktop image and photo does not evolve, is one knows how to fix this problem
Hello
Your Windows passes genuine validation? If your activation session has expired and that windows did not pass the validation, it will not show any visual effect such as background noise, themes etc. It will only show a black screen and at the bottom right of the screen you can see attention.Cihan -
This monitor is able to execute the resolution 1920 x 1200 and it worked well on the same laptop Dell Latitude D820 under XP Pro SP3. However, Windows 7 does not recognize the Dell Monitor (shows as non-Plug-and-Play monitor credits) and will go no higher than 1600 x 1200. The monitor on the laptop will run in 1920 x 1200 and also 1920 x 1200 poster XP running inside a virtual machine, so the problem is with Windows 7 not properly recognizing the Dell 2407WFP monitor in VGA mode. All other operating systems work very well to support the material properly.
The laptop is running a NVidia Quadro NVS 120 M map. I tried several versions of Vista Dell drivers (do not have for Windows 7 - therefore Dell is not to follow). NVidia has no drivers for this card because it specially designed for Dell and all pilots must come from Dell (new Dell doesn't help here - I know that Windows 7 was just recently released but there are important suppliers for some time. Thought Dell was big by taking charge Microsoft with their business line of products but I think that even they cannot follow.
It seems that the problem is also Windows 7 is not correctly identify the Dell monitor and many other monitors as well. Unfortunately, I doubt that this issue will never be resolved by Microsoft. I have yet to see that all the issues MS resolved long. I begin to see the truth in the last pub in Apple vs MS on television. Well the time to upgrade the new hardware.
If anyone has a suggestion or a solution to solve this - I'm all ears!
Don
wait until that Dell publishes drivers for win 7 or you can contact them for the same thing.
