How to hide the "active icons" in the windows taskbar?

You can't turn them off.
just right click the icon, and then press DELETE.
You can put them back by going to all programs and drag it to the taskbar.
In case you want to the taskbar disappear, just right click on the taskbar, chose the property. Click on "task bar tab. Uncheck the "show quick launch."

If you are talking about the icon near the clock, right click on the bar of tasks, then property, then customize, then click the 'hide when it is idle. Choose "always hide or always show or hide when inactive.

Answer please, if you face any problem.

    I work in a technical-sales environment that is to use a good many PowerPoint presentations with sheets embedded and spreadsheets. Several members of the team tried to save their presentations as a PDF, but doing so disabled icons they would click to access the embedded documents.

    As far as I know the only way to access files embedded in a PDF document is to attach to the PDF itself after registration and all hyperlinks can be retained, active icons cannot. I wanted to check if this is correct or if there is another solution I've not been able to find online that I can share with them to save a few extra steps in their projects.

    I went ahead and got on the chat to see and according to them, you must set the attachment via the PDF links. So I guess that means that we do, which is going back in and put new attachments on the icons of the disabled, is really the only way to do it right now. If someone else comes across this post and understands what I'm doing and knows a way that did not include the Help Center, feel free to post.

    A better 'toy' is always BitMeter II of Codebox (http://codebox.org.uk/pages/home).  I've used this for years.  Gives you an active icon in the tray system, sorry, Notification area and a floating graphic appear on the desktop with clicks, if you wish.  Does not give you a link to the network properties, but you can leave the old icon here for that.
