AD - HOC on Yosemite password?

So I realized that I can't add a password when you create a special on Yosemite.  I know I could do this in previous versions of Mac OS x as a Maverick.

Please tell me there is a way to add a password because I tend to use ad hoc outside in public and would not for others to connect with my network.

Thanks in advance a lot.

Ray

Sorry, but I think that the possibility of providing an Ad - hoc network protected by password has been removed from OS X Yosemite. My guess is that Apple has dropped since it provided only WEP security level.

Initially, the password to keychain and your password are identical.

If you change the password for the connection in an unusual way, it is possible that the Keychain password is not being updated at the same time. Your stored passwords are encrypted and are kept under the old password. You can update the password in the keychain if you know old and new passwords. Otherwise the content of the old keychain died for you (and everyone stays that way).

Looking for help well informed with a pesky question of Yosemite...

I have an old Mac with multiple disks, and I try to get the most recent versions of Mac OS X installed and working properly.

    The hardware and OS details:

    • Mac Pro 4.1 ("cheese grater")
    • 3 hard disks 1 to
    • Machine has been (and is still) 10.6.8 Snow Leopard as its main operating system running.  It's on HD #2.  That works very well, though obviously limited the age (old apps).  I need to keep this as a configuration to boot can be used - in other words, I need to preserve the ability to boot from the HD #2 in 10.6.8 as this is currently my workplace every day and will probably continue for a while.

Last year, I installed 10.10.3 Yosemite on internal HD #1.  I initially had some difficulties to be able to switch between the boot disks, but am now able to choose with reliability drive/starting system at startup via the Startup Manager (boot, invoking the Boot Manager, I choose #2 with 10.6.8 HD or HD #1 with 10.10.3).)

    So far so good.

Everything works well when it is started on the 10.6.8 by car.

When it is started off the coast of the 10.10.3 drive, there is account/permissions issues that prevent me from using it for something meaningful.  That's what I'm trying to correct now.

Note that I installed 10.10.3 on HD #1 for over a year and I've never used for anything - that the drive is empty other than the operating system.  If I need to blow this facility, I can do.

The problem: I am currently not able to install apps on HD #1 (after starting on #1 with 10.10.3). HD  When I try to install anything, the operating system will appear an authentication dialog box: '< name of install App > wants to make changes. Type of administrator name and password to enable this. »

I get my account name and PW (which I have always used for everything on this machine for ever), and it fails.

Research in system preferences > users and groups, I see not what probably is the problem: my account is a "Standard user", not an administrator account.  There is no listed administrator account (in fact, no other users listed, other than the "Guest", which is disabled).  I don't know how he got in this State, I was always the administrator on this machine, and I guess it would have copied accounts and permissions of the 10.6.8 installation, or otherwise if he asked me about this information during the installation I took myself as an administrator.  In any case, my user account is now "Standard", which is probably the cause of the current unrest.  I am constantly invited to enter a log in admin whenever I try to do anything (a 'function' rather annoying but lets not go).  This machine is my home, nobody else is going to have physical access to it, no children in the House, that's for sure, I prefer to ignore as many log-ins required security etc. as possible, but for now, I just get my user configured as an administrator account.

What is the best way to achieve this?

As I said, I have nothing invested in the current installation of 10.10.3 HD # 1, this player is all-but-empty and I can blow that installation (and re - format the drive) if it's the easiest path.  But it is extremely important that I have the integrity of the other disk, HD #2, which is running 10.6.8 and has important data and apps on it.  I want to make sure that everything I do with or HD #1 and 10.10.3 is no impact on the #2 HD and my ability to boot from 10.6.8 on it.

(I also have a third 1 TB internal disk (HD #3).  This player is 100% empty and unused.  After I get the permissions of the account/fixed on HD #1 with 10.10.3, I would then install 10.11 El Capitan on HD #3 - and have the ability to boot to one of the three systems - but I'll keep my questions on that until I have the 10.10.3 sorted issues.)

Then... I guess the only real issue here that I need to address is the fact that my user account on #1 on 10.10.3 HD is not an admin (no?) account.  If this is the case, what is the best way for me to fix this?

Thank you very much in advance for your help - it is much appreciated.

Can you unlock the preferences system/users and groups? If so, you should be able to give administrator privileges. See if something in this article helps you. Since you have nothing else on the disc, if all else fails, delete and reinstall. Setup Wizard will allow you to create an admin account.

Make a backup, best 2 separated on 2 discs. Start of recovery volume (command - R on a restart, or hold down the option/Alt during a restart and select the Volume of recovery). Then re-install the operating system.

  • A lot of problems after El Capitan then downgrade to Yosemite

Hello, I'm on a MacBook Pro (15 inch, early 2011), refurbished

    2.2 GHz Intel Core 17

    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

    I have free out-f 859,48 GB 998,07 GB

    SATA drive

(Barely) running on OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.5

This is a refurbished MacBook Pro, I bought a little over a year he has absolutely no problem until I tried the update of El Capitan a week ago.

First of all, the update took several hours during the night to download. He then took more than 14 hours to install. After completing the installation and reboot, the machine was apparently very well, but I had just surfed the web normally on Google Chrome.

The next day, shortly after turning on the machine, through a much faster startup and logon process and begins again to surf the web via Chrome, everything went haywire. The MacBook froze, I had a gray screen, then he crashed and died.

At this point, he refused to start as long as upward and rather stalled on the Apple logo screen white front. After I held down the power button to force it to turn off, wait a minute and turned off and on again, it starts only insofar as the logo screen of Apple with the progress bar and then hang. I tried to see if it would finally finish starting, no dice.

    LONG VERSION:

I started to shoot trouble that all the typical El Capitan boot post fixed.

    1. it will not Mode safe mode by holding the shift button on the start menu to the top. I have no active FileVault. I don't remember if I have a password for the updated firmware.

    2. I was able to start it in recovery by using the command Mode + R while restarting - exactly ONCE. At that time, I used utilities and my external (passport for Mac) back to restore pre - El Capitan Yosemite. Still, things seemed good that night and I was able to use Chrome normally.

    3. the next day, the same problems started upward, however, now it is no longer will enter into Recovery Mode. Yet once again, I would be stuck on the logo screen white front, or stuck on logo screen, or sometimes it would start through and then hang on the white screen again.

    4. then, I tried to return the NVRAM on restart. This method sometimes works, sometimes not. Sometimes it again just hangs up on a part of the boot process.

    5. I booted into single user mode and went through a series of troubleshooting commands. Yet once, it worked - exactly ONCE. For a while, it will boot into single user mode, most of the time, but following the instructions of before no results will be given.

    6. I started in Restore Mode to Internet using the command + Option + r Repeat: it worked exactly ONCE. I was able to restore Yosemite 10.10.4, day 3, thought it was good, but no, crash, no initialization. None of the previous patches were working. Also, now command + R to start automatically in this mode and not in recovery mode. When the recovery of the Internet Mode ends, he hangs up on the white screen again and refuses to start.

I am more able to access Recovery Mode to use the utilities to erase the disc.

    7. after resetting the SMC (Ctrl + Shift + option + command while holding the power button) AND the NVRAM, I am able to boot the computer and enter the Finder utilities and run the disc utilities. I ran all the permissions of the drive, I fixed all the permissions, I fixed the drive. On several occasions. Same things, I do much more than surf the web and it crashes. No startup. No Recovery Mode. Recovery mode Internet hangs up. Single User Mode is not given result. Also, I can no longer erase MacIntosh HD.

    8. I use Time Machine to restore to my last backup. No dice. Same deal, as all of the above.

    9. Finally, it does not restart after resetting the SMC and NVRAM again. I then upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.4 to 10.10.5. Now, I continue to have the same problems as above, but I can run is no longer Google Chrome or Spotify. With two apps, I get an immediate error message indicating "Chrome/Spotify has unexpectedly" until something starts at all.

    10. I removed Chrome and tried to reinstall, same problem.

    SHORT VERSION:

    1. I've updated to El Capitan and the other day my MacBook Pro started to break and turn off, and then refuses to restart.

    2. I have followed all directions on Apple's Support forums including attempt to boot mode without failure (fail). I could enter in Recovery Mode and restore an earlier version back up only ONCE. Now, it will restart is no longer into Recovery Mode.

    3. I followed the instructions to start in single user Mode. It worked exactly ONCE.

    4. I ran first aid utility disk and check/repair permissions and repair the disk several times. The problems persist.

    5. I started in Internet Recovery Mode. It worked exactly ONCE, and now instead of normal Mode recover DΘmarrer to cmd + R, it goes right to the recovery of Internet Mode. Once that ends, it hangs indefinitely on the white screen, then sometimes it will go to a totally black screen indefinitely or close again.

    6. I used the reset of the MSC and the NVRAM and managed to start completely. Then I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.5 and lost my Chrome and Spotify. The MacBook continues to crash and stop randomly. Of the SMC + NVRAM reset seems to help with the start-up, but the crash then using that anything but Safari continues and reinstall still leads Chrome an instant "Chrome has unexpectedly" error message before it even begins.

The Mac came to me with Yosemite already installed and I have no disc to install it after a clean cloth. I am able to surf the web, and that's mostly it.

10.10 is saved on one archive, available from a backup Time Machine or in your App store purchases, there is no legal way to get more.

If you have disks that came with the computer as it is prior to recovery of the internet you can retrieve for that OS, but you are limited to the upgrade of the operating system in your App Store account. If you do not have this option is strictly 10.11.6

See this post: Re: change screen Login - Encrypted Disk Filevault 2 Options

Is there a reason that you upgrade to El Capitan? When Sierra released this fall, Mavericks will not receive more security updates. Also a lot of new applications will require Yosemite or El Capitan to install.

  • Cannot connect in iMessage on Mac. ID and password.

iMessage spontaneously told me to open a session, but don't connect. My ID and password are correct. I even reset my password to see if it would fix it. iCloud and other apps Apple ID/functions work fine. iMessage on my Mac does not work. iMessage on my phone is fine. Do not know what to do...

    Hello

Each connecting to servers iMessages is specific device using the serial number of the device.

In some cases have replaced mother/logic card may cause that the person performing the repair is supposed to "return of flame" the serial number for the new Board of Directors.

About this Mac (high Apple Menu icon on the left) the serial number appears in preview in the Yosemite and El Capitan.

While it is supposed to be a feature security a number of small but significant people find iMessages connection to various updates or updates it stops working.

Test your Apple ID in iMessages in another Mac user account (System Preferences > user and groups). Create a 'test' account or select th option invited and connect to this account.

If it works here then the problem is with your Mac user account.

If it doesn't work it is more likely to be at the server end, but there are other things you can try.

How to reset the NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

    Try a secure start

Do these two things separately and test Messages between the two.

If at this stage iMessages will still not connect, you will need to contact the Apple Support (even and Apple Care)

Explain that you have a problem with Apple ID with the Mac connection to the iMessages Server (Apple ID issues are free to set).

Chances are the level 1 players will not know what you are talking about because they use Scripts to handle phone calls.

Ask to speak to someone more important, particularly if they appear insistent and you pay.

Level 2s can vary with some knowledge about the issue and others work more blindly) (there was a post here where level 2 under a code number which has arisen in OS X 10.8.2 recently updated with the introduction by using the serial number).

Apple are aware that this security feature fires for some but not why.

Level 2 may ask you to try other things and also do data collection.

Ask them to check the iMessages server and see if it does not block your Mac.

    Ask them to put this.

At this point, they may involve engineers who seem to be the only ones who can reset the server.

Reinstall, upgrade or even a simple update don't work - it's a question of end of the server.

Judging by what others post back to talk about their experiences you can get told anything between 24 hours and 5 days to "Fix" (and in some cases a return phone calls to check).

Most report it seems 'resolves' as it is rarely if ever a return phone call.

This problem of not being able to connect (or in some cases to looking like you are connected but then all contacts turn red, then you cannot select them - or learn as much as by pressing send only to see "not delivered" for each iMessage) has happened since the Cougar in any form where the form.

It is probably fair to say that there has been changes and now it seems to a form any operating system level change.

We who post regularly have not found a quick process to face to get through Apple Support.

  • Password locking Active Directory - Apple ID

In my office, we have three Macbooks linked to the Active Directory domain and all the three machines to meet the same problem. On all three machines, we use different local Admin, Mobile AD managed accounts. Accounts use private Apple ID in Itunes and App store. All three accounts have experienced what seemed to be random AD accounts locks.

We have managed to limit somewhat through troubleshooting a problem with Apple ID and keychain.

Users, initially created their Apple ID with their e-mails and the company when they connect to their Apple App Store ID they get locked out AD almost immediately.

After they changed their Apple ID to their private emails, they got locked out AD whenever they tried to authenticate more than 5 times on App Store (or any where else some application requires Apple ID). Even if their identity papers have absolutely nothing to do with their usernames and passwords AD account. Somehow Apple ID or key ring tries to authenticate against AD. Whenever you enter the password wrong or correct it increments the counter "badpwdcount" of 1. If you try to authenticate five or repeatedly, causes it to lock the user of the AD because of the "5 bad passwords GPO" in AD.

Even if the user enters a password valid, it always raises the 1 meter. If the user authenticates Apple ID with its business e-mail the lockout is immediate, which would mean the Apple itself ID forces on AD in quick succession or done something that causes lock it the user to use the e-mail AD and move. Is not question even if the pass is the same on the AD and Apple ID.

Can you suggest what newspapers should happen to us AD to eventually find the reason that newspapers we checked that no information. Even the attribute which must display the name of the computer where the lockout was made has no information.
We know when the lockout occur and we manage to avoid them but we would like to know why they happen. Why Apple ID, or Keychain has something to do with authentication on AD.

We have studied this issue widely on the Interwebs and found no information that we could carry on. Locking issues revolve around a few old passwords stored on IPad and other similar positions only here on communities are way back in 2007. None of this information relates to our AD locking problems.

We even did some heavy troubleshooting with certificates, but nothing helped.

Someone else has the same or similar problems?

I run several Mac Pro and Macbook Pro (El Capitan OS X 10.11.5 & 10.11.6) with the mobile AD accounts and links AD back to the domain AD WIN2012R2 server, where connection system is different from the apple ID used to access the apple store/itunes and have no problem with locked out as you describe.

I've known a lot of problems but with "compatibility between previous versions of Mac OS X (Mavericks and Yosemite)" with WINSBS2003 then WIN2008 Server OS. Do not know what is the relationship of platform (OS X to WIN) of the software you have.

I have found many problems have been fixed just by signing on iCloud, restart the MAC then sign in iCloud, don't know if doing the same thing could help you. The offender has generally been OS X, especially after an upgrade.

Are your Mac related to AD, but search LDAP and NIS or too? This was one of my problems with WIN2008 and Nonconformists.
