Add a second monitor

I have a HP G5370uk computor. The current monitor is connected via a VGA cable. I have a second monitor that has a similar equipped VGA cable.  (Blue connector with 3 rows of five pins.)

The only other port my computor is a dual link DVI A. (3 rows of 8 holes with a flat pinhole individually at one end).

I am able to connect the second monitor and extend my desktop and if so, how?

Please keep any simple explanation as I am a very simple person.

Thank you

  • Can I add a second monitor?

I'm used to 2 monitors, and I want to keep it this way.  I hung on a samsung monitor I have via HDMI to my Sprout.  It works, except that I can't seem to operate as one extension of the other.  I have set them up as an extension, but this is only to show the same as the monitor Sprout. All duplicates. I'm doing something wrong?  Sprout supports another monitor?

Yes, you can add a second monitor.

Right now, the only way to get it to work is to disable the Service to germinate, and then the 'third' monitor can be used as a large monitor. But it's the only way to expand at this time. I couldn't find a document about this, but here are the steps. And don't forget, all the germs associated options will be disabled, all 3 monitors at disposal for any windows application.

Start the Task Manager (right click on the taskbar and select Task Manager)

under the gaze of process for the germination process

    Stop it.

now, your monitor can be extended.

For starters, he do the same only backwards...

  • How to add a second monitor to my HP - Pavilion 500

I am trying to add a second monitor to my desktop HP Pavilion 500 (model No. 500-189) and met with many problems. At the back of my PC there is a video output that comes with several adapters, but under a plastic cover, there is an another VGA port I have my second monitor plugged into. When I restart the computer, the loading screen appears on the screen to spare, but the lock screen then appears on the primary monitor. I went to the screen resolution setting page and discovered that the computer has not detected the second monitor at all, I pressed on detect a couple of times and he couldn't find it. If anyone knows why this is happening and how to fix it please let me know. Moreover, the second monitor I'm trying to connect to is a LG Flatron and the main monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster.

If anyone needs my computer guru please meet demand and I'd be happy to let you know.

  • How to add a second monitor system

I have a desktop HP Pavilion a6430f with a computer card Nvidia Geforce 6150 SE Video.  I want to add a second monitor.  I spoke with the Staples tech guy and he told me that because of the configuration of the motherboard on this system, I can not add a second video card, I need to replace the existing with a double monitor Cardinal card... is this true?  True or not, please tell me the correct map to newegg\where ever.  I don't play games, I'm a developer and must keep costs down.  Thank you.

Yes it looks like everything you are looking for. 300W min, 512 MB, and dual display capable (as long as the monitors are video standard and the other is DVI or HDMI.) Good to go

  • Failed to add a second monitor on some computers to model because of driver VGASAVE

Currently, using Mirage 5.1.11204. We have desktop computers and laptops Dell and HP. I have a business created for image Windows 7 Enterprise x 64.

Corp image was created on a HP ProBook 640 G1. I use this for our standard image. It works on all our models. I have a question on a couple of the Dell models where I can't add a second monitor. It seems that the correct video driver is installed in Device ManagerDevice Manager.png

, but if you go into the display properties and select Advanced, all card information is displayed so that isn't available or n/a.

    Display Properties.png

If you check the properties of the adapter, it shows VGASAVE.

    Adapter Properties.png

I tried everything, reinstall the drivers using the driver library, by not applying is not the library of drivers without result. If I take a vanilla Windows 7 x 64 using the Windows Deployment Services image fine. If its something in the base image Mirage I guess.

This occurs in particular on our laptop Dell Latitude E6400 and our Dell Optiplex 780.  I don't want to create separate images for these two models, especially since they retired in the new year.

    Thanks in advance

Thus, it seems that I solved the problem. I went back to my machine to reference that I created my main image on and uninstalled the video drivers of 2 HP, and set the backup as Standard VGA adapters. I took the picture and it made for a Dell Latitude E6400. It is a machine that I could not install an external monitor in and it worked like a charm.

I shouldn't of remove these video drivers Mirage is supposed to do it himself, but the bottom line is that his work once again without having to create a separate image. I hope this helps someone else who falls on this issue.

  • Pavilion all-in-one 23: Add the second monitor to HP Pavilion CTO all-in-One-23-p110z

As it is configured, the factory is the "HP Pavilion all-in-one-23-p110z CTO" capable of supporting a second monitor?  I see NO obvious "video inputs" ports.

    Thank you!

    Hi @beckinista,

Thank you for being an active member of the HP's Support Forums.   I understand that you would like to know if you can connect a second computer monitor 23-p110z all-in-One CTO Pavilion.

The specifications of the motherboard of your computer show that there not a secondary display port. I have included HP Pavilion 23 - p110z all-in-one CTO Office product specifications and configurable Options and HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - specifications of the motherboard, Boa for your reference.

    I hope the above helps.

  • IQ846 - can I add a second monitor?

I hope that some of you out there may be able to offer a suggestion as to whether or not it is possible to add a second screen to my IQ846 who is still using Vista x 64. Since there is no port output additional display on this machine, I expect it would change the video card - if that's even possible. So in fact, it's really my question: first of all, is easily removable video card (requires no welding); and secondly, does anyone know of a replacement card that would support the addition of a second screen?

Here are the specifications of your desktop HP TouchSmart IQ846. This model contains no video outputs external of any kind (VGA, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.). Change the MXM PCIe x 16 video card will be difficult, expensive, may not work and still not provide an external video output. To connect an additional screen consider using an adapter USB-to-video, like the eVGA UV plus + UV39 or one of the other many adapter on the market.

    Please send Bravo

  • How can HP Envy23 d150 I add a second monitor

How to connect a second monitor to my computer, there is no HDMI port. I saw messages from uSB 4.0 as a possibility and other posts on a wireless device. Can you be specific, or is it a waste of money for a second monitor?

  • Add the Second monitor - XPS 8100

I have a XPS8100 (June 2012) with a Radeon 7570 video card and two monitors Gateway TFT1980PS + (2006 Vintage). I have a problem connecting to the second monitor. I was told that the machine runs two on purchase. Current configuration includes primary monitor in the slot of DVI with an adapter for a VGA splitter cable. When I attach the second monitor splitter cable I get the identical to the new monitor signal but the machine does not recognize a second monitor.  Also if I connect the second VGA/SVGA cable directly on the HDMI output is there nothing more.

Question: What is the good setup or adapter needs to use two VGA monitors on this machine?

As you note, you're right, that my machine is a 8500 with map 7570. (woman machine was a 8100).

The card into the slot (probably the 7570) has the output DVI and my current monitor works through this port.  Now that I look closer, I see the HDMI port on the card. I'll have to find an adapter for the second monitor. At this point I feel quite stupid, like the location of the machine was that I couldn't really see the back that well and did not yet see the HDMI port on the card. Seeing this a few days ago would have save me embarrassment, you and your great tech team some time.

    Thank you

Here are the specifications of your desktop Compaq Presario SR1320NX. According to the specification, this model is almost 10 years old and has only an AGP 8 x for a graphics card expansion slot. Please see Newegg.com - AGP 4 x / 8 x graphics cards for some choice of card.

  • Pavilion M8100n: adding a second monitor

Add the second monitor and when I install a Nvidia GT240 it shuts the built-in VGA port.  If I have to I can remove the TV on board and put a card PCI standard video in it.  in any case to keep the video work shipped or turn back on?

Tested the GT240 in another computer and it works

2nd monitor has vga and DVI.

  • Select vga for second monitor

I am trying to add a second monitor, but it does not receive a signal.

With the help of HP Paviion Elite HPE 210f running Win 7 64 bit. It has an ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics card. I have been using a single monitor DVI-d port for a long time without any problem.  Now, I want to add a second monitor. The VGA port has a plastic screw top Cap. I removed the plug and plugged into the monitor. He doesn't get any signal from the computer. I tried to update the graphics driver that caused a blue screen. Restarted. Monitor main always ok, but nothing on the 2nd monitor.

Tried running the Catalyst Control Center. Graphic material tab to the main Board, it shows the graphic Chipset is ATI Radeon HD and all other info says "not available".  In the software Graphics tab, it shows

    2D 8.01.01.1186 driver version

The 2D driver file path is not available

    Direct 3D Version 7.14.10.0860

    Open GL version not available

Version of Catalyst Control Center 2009.1201.2247.40849

I have to do something to activate the VGA port?  This video card supports two ports/monitors?  I tried to look on the AMD website, but did not find anything specific to this topic.

Moreover, the primary monitor has a VGA cord plugged into an adapter into the DVI port.  Not sure if that makes a difference.

Here are the specs of your computer HPE-210f. Please note that DVI and VGA ports, which adjoin the rear USB ports are "blocked" for a reason. These video ports are disabled, because the ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics on the motherboard is disabled when a graphical supplement, as the included ATI Radeon HD 5450 card with your system, is installed. Only two ports that can be used are the DVI and HDMI in one of the slots of expansion above the back of the I/O shield. Please note that the DVI port can output digital (natively) or analog (using an adapter DVI / VGA) and the HDMI port can produce only digital signals. In all cases, one or two monitors must support digital signals.

  • Adding a second monitor

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline computer s5000 running Windows 7. I want to add a second monitor. Do I need to add another compatible video card to run the second monitor (the second monitor is a 42 '' Vizio LCD TV), or the new video card runs two screens?

Please pay attention to the score on the video description:
NOTE: * built into the graphics card or the card PCI Express x 16 slot are usable at once; they can not be used simultaneously.

    From:
    http://h10010.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/document?DocName=c01701270&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&product=5059059

So, either use the usb option or choose a graphics card that supports the inputs of your monitors.
If they are identically you need two, you cannot use your current Interior!
