Add bookmarks to the toolbar in text only?

I used to be able to reduce all my favorites on my bookmarks bar to the text only 3.6 and still maintain forward, back, home and reloading of the icons on the top.

4.0 if I activate the text in the Customize menu then I lose the front, back, home and recharge the icons at the top as any change to the text.

Anyway to fix this? I can change the code if necessary.

Thank you

You can do it with the bookmarks Deiconizer extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/bookmarks-deiconizer

Thank you for this! Somewhere else I read that it's their way of working? I'll have to be more careful when I add bookmarks I don't go looking in the wrong for something bookmark. Now, I think I'll keep most of my professional Favorites under the menu bar and the most visited bookmarks in the bookmarks toolbar.

  • HOW DO I REMOVE BOOKMARKS IN THE TOOLBAR BOOKMAR ON MY MAC?

Different bookmarks appeared on my bookmarks toolbar. There are several that I won't be there. Firefox Help explains how ADD bookmarks in the toolbar bookmarks but not how to remove them. I wish I knew how to do this.

    1. go in bookmarks in the top menu.
    2 show all bookmarks
    3. click on the bookmarks bar
    4. Select the one you want to delete
    5. right click and choose Remove

  • Is there a way to automatically fill bookmarks and folders of bookmarks in the toolbar and menu for a consistent view?

The separate group of bookmarks in Firefox in the toolbar, Menu and does not sort, I always found it cumbersome to use and manage. The search for bookmarks often means I have to open each one to find a specific bookmark. I am aware of the show all bookmarks in bookmarks option > drop-down Menu (but isn't in the bookmarks bar). I know how to copy the bookmarks and folders etc. but it is hard to do every time I have bookmark. And if I add a new bookmark folder and want a consistent view, I need to copy this folder in the Menu or eitherToolbar and copy the new bookmarks in the toolbar or the Menu as well.

Is there an add-on or option or other alterative that exists to provide that kind of capability?

If not, maybe an adding future functionality to Firefox to eventually change the vision presented in the bookmarks bar and Bookmarks Menu so that they match and can be activated by a new option of FireFox "change the bookmark view show merged Bookmarks Toolbar + Bookmarks Menu bookmarks and folders of bookmarks in the toolbar and menu.

    Thank you very much!

After a few edits, I found a way to accomplish what I want, and fortunately, it can be done in the application of Firefox without needing an add-on.

I simply copy the bookmarks unordered top-level in the top-level bookmarks toolbar and the bookmarks Menu of top-level. This, combined with the convention to add all new bookmarks in the folders under Unsorted Bookmarks or Unsorted Bookmarks, provides the unified content bookmark I want across all views bookmark 3 (Unsorted, Menu, Toolbar).

From the library page (grown by selecting from the menu of Firefox bookmarks bar > show all bookmarks), if I select Unsorted Bookmarks, copy and paste into the bookmarks toolbar and paste in the Menu bookmarks, this is what I want. I actually created a symbolic/reference/shortcut link to Unsorted Bookmarks the other two favorite places can be found.

With Unsorted Bookmarks in the bookmarks toolbars and bookmarks Menu, any add/remove bookmarks or add/delete records or restructuring of the bookmarks under Unsorted Bookmarks directory tree is also immediately reflected in all 3 of the possible locations of bookmark (Unsorted, toolbar, Menu).

The design and implementation of bookmarks supports this simple solution, so Bravo for designers and coders for built-in extensibility / generality which support this approach. And thanks for the posters for giving me some background and history on the bookmarks in Firefox, motivation me digging to find this solution which is quite simple and elegant.

    Thank you!

  • Bookmarks on the toolbar create new tab/window even if is selected in the preferences to do so.

Even if I have the box "open new windows in a new tab instead" checked, when I click on one of the links in my Bookmarks Toolbar, it will open in a new tab window. I clicked several bookmarks in the toolbar, and it happens on each of them.

Also, when I click on the different links to different AppleMails, it opens a new tab/window.

How can I get links in my toolbar to recognize the preference chosen to make a new tab/window?

The setting in tools > Options > tabs: "new pages should be opened in ': 'a new tab/window' is for links that specify a target window to open the link.

This option allows to divert these links into a new tab instead of a new window.

For links that do not specify a target, use a middle click or hold down the Ctrl key and click the link or use the context menu to open the link in a new tab or window.

  • Several lines of bookmarks on the toolbar

Is there anyway to get more than one row of bookmarks in the toolbar? Just a line more would be great, but I know that others might want more, so multiple lines would be the ultimate. I'm at El Capitan if it means something.

There are currently no option to have more than one row of favorites in the Favorites bar.

    Hi richarddaniel1111,

To add buttons to the toolbar, follow these steps:

    1. Choose View > show/hide > Toolbar elements.
    2. Choose an option from the submenu (file, editing, comment and so on).
    3. Select the tool you want to add to the toolbar.

    Hope that helps!

  • I can't add bookmarks to the bookmarks toolbar - get a circle with a line though it.

Updated for Firefox 13... She has not any of the previous version went to build a new bookmarks toolbar and when I tried to drag an item from the Web site to the toolbar (as I used to be able to do easily in the previous version) I had a circle with a line through it - which basically said sorry you can do. Backgraded to 12 Version and I have the same problem. I don't have any extensions running. The bookmarks bar is checked (forthcoming) and there is an empty up there... just cannot add anything to it. Any suggestions on what I may be missing would be appreciated. I wouldn't give up this late date on Firefox. Thank you!

Well, I'm embarrassed to admit that I followed all of your suggestions with little chance... but then I started to 'pitch and putt' with practically everything what they allowed me to view and customize both and to the high jump bar Bookmarks imported when I've updated - but was not showing... I suspect it was the thing to restore default setting that worked at one point. (I'm definitely NOT a geek as you might have guessed.) But what worries me is that I don't really know what I did, and if I go on another machine and have the same problem I'm going to start on (but knowing that I CAN fix it if I'm persistent). Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm back with Firefox again.

  • How to add bookmarks to the new tab page? Move a bookmark only opens the page in the new tab.

Just like the title says, I have problems of setting up my new tab page. I drag a bookmark (I tried the combo, the bookmarks toolbar and the library) to one of the rectangles, then opens the bookmark in the tab rather than pin it there. I tried with my normal configuration and with all the addons disabled, but the same thing happens anyway.

Are links to web pages on the internet because you can't pin local pages?

Make sure that you are not Firefox running in permanent private browsing mode (don't remember history).

    • Tools > Options > privacy > Firefox will be: "use the custom settings for history".
    • Uncheck the box: [] "always use the navigation mode private.
  • bookmarks are not displayed on the toolbar; toolbar displays, bookmarks in the toolbar folder, but are not displayed

My Favorites bar is the display, but there is nothing showing in it, even though I checked the bookmarks library, and certainly there are bookmarks in that folder (it is not empty). I restarted Firefox, but that did not help.

I turned only the toolbar all the time, but that shouldn't make a difference, right?

Someone has an idea for me?

Make sure the toolbars as the 'personal bar' are visible.

    • Firefox '3-bar' menu button > customize > show/hide toolbars
    • View > toolbars
Press the ALT key, or press F10 to display the Menu bar
    • Right click on empty toolbar space

Open the Customize and set the toolbar to display items.

    • Firefox '3-bar' menu button > customize
    • Make sure the "bookmarks toolbar items" are on the personal bar
    • If "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the bookmarks toolbar, then FRY it in the palette to customize the window customize to the bookmarks toolbar
    • If the missing elements are in the palette to customize then drag them back into the window to customize the toolbar
    • If you don't see an article on a toolbar and in the palette to customize, then click on the reset default button to restore the default toolbar configuration

You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Add - ons Manager pages appear as "text only"; Cannot download add-ons.

Just installed Firefox v28 on new computer running Windows 7 Home. Installation went well and my browsing experience was as expected. Then I open the Add-ons Manager to install the same extensions that I used on the old machine, but something is wrong.

The pages appear in a 'text only' weird format... scroll down and down... and down (screenshots). Navigation has been frustrating because all the following pages have been in the same weird format.

Then I went to the box 'search all add-ons' top right of the screen and registered the names of the extensions that I wanted. The search results page was text only but easier to navigate. However, no matter what extension I have
selected for install failed during download (screenshot).

What I've tried so far: deleted all the history, cookies, cache, etc, closed Firefox, then rebooted the machine. But the problem persists.

UPDATE: the problem resolved itself on its own. I left the machine in pure frustration. Returned two days later, and everything has worked well. Have a little problem with the site.

  • Add bookmark to the new tab does not

I was trying to understand how to add elements to the "new tab" page in the latest version of mozilla. This latest version, on the new tab page (hit the + tab), my shortcuts are missing but three and they are images all much larger than before.

When I click on the Hardware tab in the browser, nothing happens. SO I can't switch to classic, empty or improved.

When I followed the instructions of mozilla for the bookmark, click Show all and try to drag in the new tab page and the rejection, the brand book opens in a new tab instead of create a new shortcut on the new tab. That's what I'm doing: add my favorites back to the new tab page. I use it all the time. Help!

    Hello

Don't know that if that answers your question, but with the latest update of Firefox, the number of tiles is now determined on the size of the screen - if zoom you or enlarge the window you have several tiles appear.

If you want to set a fixed number of tiles, I believe you can do it with the following extensions:

You can also see jscher2000's Solution here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1025414
It requires the add-on from the elegant but will decrease automatically the tiles on the page:

With more tiles, you might be able to add your bookmarks in them. I think that you must drag your bookmark in a cage for her to pin on the tile, or between tiles.
