Adding music to movie maker

Hello

I'm doing a dvd using windows movie maker, I imported all the pictures I need however it doesn't allow me to import music files. I get the message "The file c:\users\lynsey\music\itunes\itunes Music\Take That\The Circus\11 Hold Up A Light.m4a cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer."

What I have to change something in the format of the file or do I need to download and install a codec? If yes how can I do this? Have tried looking on the internet, I am wary about downloading.

Help, please!

Might be worth trying to convert .m4a files in the
before you import into Movie Maker .wma format.

There are to many free converters available on the net...
download from Koyotesoft is an example:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

Koyotesoft Free MP3 WMA Converter
http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html
(FWIW if you install the converter, you can uncheck
offerings from Yahoo and Dealio) (also... you can uncheck
the CD Ripper and Easy MP3 Cutter)

  • How to shut up concerned clips but still listen to music on movie maker

I'm making a movie on windows movie maker. I managed to import photos and pictures, the only problem is this movie going to be played music. When I get to the video clips sounds games for them as well so we have music and referred to the sounds we don't want overlap. Is there anyway of inhibition videos so they play in silence and you can hear the music track?

Yep it worked. That didn't quite work, but put me in the right direction. Clicked timeline and there was an audio option, so I turned it right at the audio, it is currently halfway between vidoe and audio. Thank you

    Hello emk12,

    1. This only happens with this particular song or songs on the Movie Maker?

Copy-protected music cannot be added to a Movie Maker. The license that was purchased with the music doesn't allow for republication and therefore would not add you to the Movie Maker.

  • On my computer I have Windows Movie Maker. Is it possible to add a song to my Ipod, the film that I do?

While I was doing a video on Windows Movie Maker lyrics, I couldn't find any music. And I was wondering if it was possible to put music from my Ipod to the computer, then on my film. Thank you.

Yes, once you download music from IPod to the computer, you can import it into your movie.

You can import files with the following file name extensions into Windows Movie Maker to use in your project:

    • Video files: .asf, .avi, .dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

    • Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma

    • File Picture: .bmp, DIBs, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff and .wmf

You can also import files into Windows Movie Maker that have a different extension of those shown above, but not all types of files do not work when you try to use them to make a movie.

Look at the link below for solutions when you import music in Movie Maker.

  • Unable to use Movie Maker 2.1 to make my own video compilations of my videos converted families (converted with USB 2.0 TV BOX - InterVideo WinDVR).

I use a USB 2.0 TV BOX (its software is "InterVideo WinDVR") to activate my old family videos VHS and DVR (VCR/DVD via RCA cables drive) of video files.

The files are anywhere from 4 or 5 MB .5MB (mainly), with one or two files like 7MB, depending on the family event.

Once I created the new video files, I have no problem to watch with Windows Media Player (and they look beautiful, as there was almost no loss of photo quality and or sound in the transfer at all - very very nice).

Then I will import the video clips/files newly created in Movie Maker (I have Movie Makers version 2.1). in order to make new compilations video, eager to add effects and transitions and music in Movie Maker.

The newly created files seem to import no problem... but when I try to preview... the sound plays very well but there is no video... only in black on the preview screen (the few times I tried this I had to close Movie Maker).

I tried moving them dirrectly to the timeline and then see them and play a clip, but then when I clicked the back button to replay the same thing above occurs, black in the preview with sound window.

I did some reading online to try to understand, and...

I tried to import the file/clip directly on the timeline and then finishing/recording on my computer and then importing the wma file that results, but the same thing, black with sound.

What am I what am I doing wrong or what do I need get this working... grandmas are starting to nag... lol

Thanks a lot for any help or advice anyone can offer me, time and review.

  • Vista movie maker clip is shorter, once serious on DVD

Series of clips added to Vista movie maker 6 to make short. Clips work perfectly on preview but once the DVD is burnt a few clips are shorter when played on a DVD player.

Thanks for your reply J, followed the instructions to the letter but unfortunately same result.

Clip ends early, fading out & then fading the next in the movie clip.

    ==================================

All the clips are the same format?

Transitions allow portions of the video to overlap clips.

That's how it fades smoothly from one clip to another.

    Have you tried without transitions?

You can adjust the length of transitions?

If a music file Movie Maker crashes
in a format that is not compatible. If you convert
the file to the format of .wma before importing, you
    can have a better result.

The converter below might be helpful to try:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Format Factory
    http://www.pcfreetime.com/
    (FWIW... you can uncheck
all the boxes on the last screen)

After downloading and installing Format Factory...
Open the program and choose an output folder...
(this is where you will find your files when they are
    converted)

Drag and drop your audio clips on the main screen...

    Select "while"WMA"/ OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

    That should do it...

    Good luck.

I've never had any problems with this before and made more than 100 movies using WLMM or WMM. Thanks for any help. Would that my camera settings? I use a Lumix.

I just found out what the problem is freakin ' and the solution. If the inserted videos have different "video codec" then it will not work!

Before adding videos to Movie Maker, throw in a video converter and convert them all. (Even if the original format is WMV, convert again to WMV) that will ensure the output videos have the same codec!
This solved the problem for me, hope, it does for you too...

I guess just that you run Vista Movie Maker 6?

You say that you have changed the music pieces... and now you want to
    to combine the music.

Does this mean you want to record music as another
audio file in addition to the file video .wmv?

The best would be to extract the audio file of the publication
    (recorded). WMV video file.

To accomplish this... just reimport the published (recorded). WMV
file in Movie Maker and then drag it to the audio / music... then
Publish (save the file) and it will become a. WMA audio file.

If my understanding of this issue is incorrect, please provide
    more details.

All using windows movie maker, I added audio, but I can't hear the music while playing the video... Why is this?

    Hello

    1. What is the format of the video file that you use in Movie Maker?

    2. do you receive error messages when you try to play the video?

Some audio and video file formats are not supported in Windows Movie Maker and cannot be imported. However, if you have a video or audio file that is not taken care of, you can use a non-Microsoft video editing software to convert the file into a format supported by Windows Movie Maker, and then import the video file or an audio resulting in Windows Movie Maker.

You can use your favorite search engine and download third-party video editing software to convert the file.

Note: The use of third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.
