Adding new HARD disk to the current setup RAID1 on PowerEdge T310

Hello

I have PowerEdge T310 with SAS 6/iR controller. I've configured as RAID1 with 2 x 500 GB HARD drive. Now I would like to add another disk HARD 2. Is it possible to do with the material current & configuration? IS SAS 6/iR support for additional HARD drive?

Fauzi79,

Unfortunately with the SAS6/ir you don't have the ability to develop. You must back up the data, delete the table, add readers, then reconfigure the table. After that, then install the operating system and restore the data. Sorry I couldn't give you the answer that you were missing no doubt, but it is a limitation of the controller you are using. If a Perc 6 / I installed then the expansion process is relatively simple.

Let me know if this helps to clarify.

    Hi all

    I want to install the version upgrade to coldfusion 9 on a new server / hard disk, using the serial number of MX7, that has been uninstalled.

    Is this possible?  Potential complications?

    I can't disable MX7 because this no longer exists.

    Mike

    Yes, when you enter the CF9 license, the installer will say 'it of a license upgrade, please provide the original of his licence' and give you another form to your CF7 license.  If she likes these two licenses, you're good to go.

  • Satellite l.660-12 q - would the recovery disk rebuild the new HARD disk with a new recovery partition

    Talk about confusion. Does anyone know how to get a Toshiba C660 work after the HARD drive failed and the owner has stupidly NOT followed the instructions to make a recovery disk. Will be the recovery disk (if buy you one from Toshiba) rebuild the new HARD disk with a new recovery partition and install windows 7 (original OS) and accept the product key printed on the Windows license, attached to the base of the laptop. I have read a number of suggestions, but these have been considered incorrect by others.

    Surely, Toshiba must have a way to sort this problem.

    They read these messages?

    Hey Buddy

    I don't think it's really complicated, that I could find all the information about the recovery procedure in the user's manual

    The recovery disk must be created on the first day of purchase its recommended to create one in case something would be wrong with the HARD drive.

    The recovery disk contains an image. The image is a package containing Win system, drivers, tools and all the stuff pre-installed on the notebook.
    You bought the laptop and the system has already been activated so that you have need of t the key placed at the bottom of the unit.
    In addition, the use of the recovery disc formats the drive HARD integer (partitions too) and set the laptop in the same condition as at the first day of the purchase.

    There is also another option to recover the notebook called HARD drive recovery. This HARD drive recovery requires no recovery disk. The recovery disc HARD would be to use format ONLY partition C (System).

  • Connect physical hard disks to the virtual machine (and leave the data intact)

    Hello

    I'm looking to virtualize a SOHO headless server, that I use mainly for secure file storage.

    Currently, the system runs Linux installed on a small disc and has two drives 1.5 TB, used exclusively for data, in a cluster of ZFS mirroring. (I use the ZFS-fuse Linux-based application).

    I want virtualization for two reasons. One is to make administration easier and safer - avoid having to connect a keyboard and the physical monitor to the box from time to time. The other is that the machine is a bit more powerful to handle the load, and I'm hoping to make it work on other, more challenging tasks.

    Now, there is a catch. These discs are as highly important. I mean the data on them. What I need is to convert the current Linux system to a virtual machine, or re - install Linux on a virtual machine (don't like that), then connect the physical disks to the virtual machine as if they were actually connected.

    I certainly don't want to vmware touches those disks somehow.

    I've read the documentation, but I'm a noob when it comes to server virtualization and system engineering and don't quite understand if this is possible or not. These discs are not a SAN, they are physically connected to the server, I want to install vSphere on. (Of course, I'll log out when I run the setup of vSphere. But I need plug them again later, and they need to be sure that vmware will leave them alone and pass them to the virtual machine transparent.)

    Sigmoid wrote:

    Oh yes, the cluster mirrored ZFS. It is essentially a software RAID type thingie.

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/ZFS

    A material, or the point of view of virtualization, it appears two hard drives with a single huge partition on each that is not transparent to anyone, except the implementation of ZFS.

    OK, means that you can break the RAID, connect the drives to different host and configure RAID once again, right?

    Let's do it this way

    1. We will need a disc player more for VM, cause on flash, we install ESXi
    2. I will share ZFS :-), all you need to do with that before you install ESXi
    3. make the BACKUP!
    4. Disconnect the data host drives
    5. install ESXi 4.1 U1 free version on flash
    6. Download the site VMware vSphere client
    7. Connect the VM disk to ESXi
    8. customer help create the virtual machine and install the OS on it
    9. stop the virtual machine and esxi
    10. connect DATA drives to the ESXi host
    11. begin to ESXi
    12. See how to add RDM on youtube, after client use, change first hardware VM--> add a new hard disk--> choose Raw Device Mapping--> (physical or virtual) mode--> store it with folder VM - FACT
    13. Start the virtual machine, now your VM should see both drives, with good data course :-)

    I have just made this procedure (add ROW with data in Linux VM) on ubuntu VM, works well

  • Installed new HARD drive with the new installation of XP, old HDD ShowAs saw as the active partition, how to change this?

    I installed a new HARD drive with a new installation of Windows XP Edition family. I want to keep the old HDD and reformat the drive, but I can't because the second HDD is listed as active in the management of the computer. Why? It's not the drive that contains the operating system (Windows XP) that is initialized from.  I put the BIOS such that the new HARD drive is the boot drive. The old HDD has Windows XP on it, but isn't the startup disk. I just don't understand.
    If only the new HARD drive is installed, the computer management doesn't show that it or any other of its partitions are the active partition (C drive is listed as the system partition, of course).

    How can I get an active partition and no active partition when the new HARD drive is installed on a HARD drive that is not the boot drive, when I have two hard drives installed?

    In case it is necessary, the new HARD drive is a SATA and the old HARD drive is IDE with the cavaliers as a slave.

    The system partition is the Active partition. The system volume contains the system files needed to start Windows, Windows XP, these system files are:

    NTLDR
    Boot.ini
    NTDETECT.COM
    Ntbootdd.sys (present/used only with older SCSI controllers)

    Windows files are not necessarily on the system volume, they can reside on another volume, when on a different volume this volume holding Windows files is called the boot volume.

    When you install Windows on a computer, playing a mixture of IDE and SATA setup discs tends to favor with IDE drives on SATA drives and tends to use the IDE drive to house the system partition, (even if Windows is installed on a different drive).

    Running the command SYSTEM SET at a command prompt may shed some light on the problem...

  • Re: Satellite Pro A40 - can I change the HARD disk or the same model?

    Hi Forum,

    do I have to wait for safe trouble by changing the hard disk between the following laptops:

    old or damaged laptop:
    SPA40 model PSA45E - 0013T - number GR
    Series No. 34127882 H

    new/own laptop
    SPA40 PSA45E-001VM-GR model number
    Series N0.34117607H

    Thanks in advance for your advice

    Concerning

    You can do it. No problem at all. Hard drives are not specific model of laptop parts and with hard drives is important compatibility.
    On the new laptop, which you can use different hard drives. Important is that use you compatible HARD drive.

    Just do it. After Exchange of HARD drive install Os again and everything will be OK.

    Recovery disks do not use the Image you did install Windows and all software/drivers hard disk from the factory original.

  • Is it possible to make the new panel downloads show the current speed of a download?

    With the new Panel of downloads, the current speed of the download is missing. It is heavy to have to click on view all downloads and open another windows just to see the current speed. Is it possible to add the current speed of a download to the download Panel?

    The only solution I found is complicated, and it must be repeated whenever Firefox is updated. I will try to explain it as simply as possible.

    1 paste the following address into the address bar and press ENTER.

    • chrome://browser/content/downloads/download.xml#download

    2 copy the code to the Clipboard. The part of the code is the stuff that is applied on a white background (although the color may be different on your configuration). It starts after the notification at the top that says: "this XML file does not appear to have any information of style associated with it. The document tree is shown below. « ; do not copy the opinion itself.

    3. start a text editor such as Notepad and paste the contents of the Clipboard.

    4 change id = "downloadBindings" of id = "downloadBindings-mod"

    5. change id = 'Download' id = "Download-mod"

    6. search for class = "downloadDetails" (Note: in the current version, there are two of these instances in the file). On the same line, change the text fragment xbl: inherits = "status = value to xbl: inherits =" value = statusTip

    7 open your Firefox profile folder. In this folder, create a new folder named chrome if there is no such thing as a folder with that name already.

    8. save the file as downloadSpeed.xml in the subfolder chrome in your profile folder.

    9. in this same folder, create a new text file named userChrome.css. Please note that the file name is case-sensitive, and that Windows HIDES file extensions by default, which could result in the file named userChrome.css.txt.

    10. in the userChrome.css file, put the following CSS code. If the first line is already present in the file (in which case you already have a userChrome.css file), do not include it.

    @namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);

    richlistitem[id^="downloadsItem_"] {
      -moz-binding: url("downloadSpeed.xml#download-mod") !important;
    }

    As an alternative to step 10, you can use the CSS code in the extension of the elegant place. In this case, you must include the full path to the downloadSpeed.xml file, for example:

    @namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);

    /* Show speed in downloads arrow panel */
    richlistitem[id^="downloadsItem_"] {
      -moz-binding: url("file:///C:/Users/GingerbreadMan/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/2xqh1840.default/chrome/downloadSpeed.xml#download-mod") !important;
    }
